Winard Tootle, 54, was born on May 11, 1953, to Willie Tootle and Ruthie Lee Tootle, who preceded him in death. He passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008. One daughter, Tonya Ann Brown, also preceded him in death.
He leaves the following loved ones to cherish his memories: daughter, Tia Tootle; four brothers, Gary (Annette) Tootle, Robert (Mary) Tootle, Ronnie Tootle and Joe (Mary) Fillmore; two sisters, Ruthie Mae Tootle and DeLoise (Tommie); five aunts, Mary Lee (Ervin), DeLoise Mincey, Nancy Way, Jenell and Geraldine; two uncles, Chuck (Lilly) Collins and Spencer Collins; four grandchildren, Loreal Tootle, Desmond, Tajh and Tyreek Palmer and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at King and Sons Funeral Home in Glennville.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 21, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Beulah No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church in Mendes, GA, with Revered Freddie Marshall presiding and Stacey Bacon officiating. Interment will follow in Roberts Chapel cemetery in Tyson, GA.

Willeen J. Weller, 66
Willeen J. Weller, 66, passed away March 17, 2008, after a long illness.
The Dade County, FL native had resided in Evans County most of her life. She was a lifetime member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Willeen was preceded in death by her parents, Fulton and Charlotte (Callaway) Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Edward Weller Sr., of Claxton; one son and daughter - in - law, Kenneth Buell and Tara (Purcell) Smith of Kingsland; one daughter and son - in - law, Teresa Smith and Russell Sowell of Claxton; one step - son, Thomas Edward Weller Jr. of Pennsylvania; one step - daughter, Candida Hampton of Lake Panasoffee, FL; two brothers, Al Jenkins of Statesboro and Curtis Barrow of Register; two sisters, Pam Rogers of Hinesville and Patty Boyett of Claxton; nine grandchildren; three great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Antioch Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.

Peggy Ann Clark Kennedy, 71
Peggy Ann Clark Kennedy, 71, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Wayne County native had lived in this area most of her life. She enjoyed her grandchildren, antique sales, a good joke and just cutting up with friends and family. She was a wonderful homemaker, a caretaker to all around her, and of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrell Kennedy, and son, Joey Kennedy, sister Betty Clark and parents, Joe Clark and Agnes Clark Madray.
She is survived by her children, Kim and Harvey Hough, Stafford, VA, Melanie and Gary Dasher, Glennville, Rusty Kennedy, Glennville, and Burke and Susan Kennedy, Glennville; a sister, Sue Ratliff, Jesup; grandchildren Mandy, Steven, Jason, Liz, Wesley, Haley and Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 13, from the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Shawn Stubbs, Keith Love, Dennis Stanfield, Scott Parker, Tim Smith and John Brannen.

Samuel “Boy Dog” Kennedy, 51
Samuel “Boy Dog” Kennedy, 51, was born on November 10, 1956, in Tattnall County, to the late Edward and Lucille Hall Kennedy. God called him home on March 3, 2008.
Samuel Kennedy was a happy person and loving father. He was an outgoing person who enjoyed cookouts and just having fun. He was a member of Greater Zachariah and sang in the choir.
He leaves to cherish his memory, six children, Retonya Cribb, Dunne Kennedy, Samantha Kennedy, Sabrina Kennedy, Latifa Johnson, all of Glennville, and Keisha Williams of Hemingway, SC; two sisters, Betty McMillian of Glennville and Lillian Talley of Fayettville, NC; two brothers, John (Karen) Kennedy and Eddie Kennedy of Glennville; seven grandchildren; special friends, Lisa Mincey, Romena Johnson, Tommie Perry, Sam Ford and Kim Phillips.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Greater Zachariah Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. C.L. Anderson presiding. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jamarcus Allen, Devon Scott, Sam Ford, Willie Gibson, Kim Phillips, Anthony Wilkenson, Freddie Cooper and Frazier Houston. Honorary pallbearers were Tellas Kennedy and Perez Kennedy.

George F. King Sr., 82
George F. King Sr., died Thursday, March 6, 2008. He was born on October 16, 1925, in Glenwood, Georgia. He was the second of seven children born to the Rev. Tyson King and Iona (Moore) King (both now deceased). At an early age, he joined Starlight Baptist Church of Glenwood.
He attended Starlight School in Glenwood. At the age of 16, he relocated to Hinesville where he got his first job at Fort Stewart. In 1943, the King family moved to Glennville. There, he met and married
Lillian (Moody) King. To that union, eight children were born. Five children are living: Marilyn King of Glennville, Rufus King (Carol) of Conyers; Margaret Drinks, James (Ilene) King, and Neal King (Sharon), all of Stone Mountain. Three children preceded him in death: George King Jr.; Wyndall McGill; and Angelia King. He later married
Velma (Colvin) King. In 1961, he moved to Miami, Florida, and several years later, he joined Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Velma (Colvin) King and her two devoted sons, Johnnie and Lorenzo (Diana) Colvin; two brothers: Ruben (Novella) King of Glennville and Samuel (Sherry) King of Miami; two sisters: Bernice Collins and Zadine Walker of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Pinkie (the Rev. Willie) Brown of Glennville; a very devoted grandson, George H. King Jr. (Barbara); a devoted sister - in - law, Evelyn Bacon of Miami; one brother - in - law, Lorenzo (Barbara) of Detroit, Michigan; 20 grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren; two great - great - grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie King, and one sister, Rubena Surrence.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Miami, Florida.
Mary Susan Smith - Lewis
Mary Susan Smith - Lewis, died after a short fight with a very aggressive type of Leukemia. She was attended by her husband, Steven Lewis, at a hospice in Decatur, Georgia. Susan, as she preferred to be called, was a graduate of Georgia State College and worked as a Sales Engineer for a major telecommunication corporation most of her adult life.
She is survived by her husband; her aunt, Tommilu Braiden; three children and five grandchildren.
She was very active for the last 15 years in the raising and showing of purebred dogs, pet therapy and pet rescue. Susan was an accomplished artist, working in oils and needlecraft. She maintained her membership in the Lyons Methodist Church where she had sung in the choir and played the organ during her youth, and attended, along with her parents, Virginia and Troy Smith. Susan’s ashes will be laid to rest alongside other members of the Smith and McCall family members in the Reidsville cemetery. According to her wishes, Susan’s ashes were combined with those of her beloved dogs that had passed before her, in a special container made by her husband.
Memorial services were held Monday, March 10, 2008, at 1:00 p.m.

Jackie (Zack) Wayne Sisson, 56
Jackie (Zack) Wayne Sisson, 56, died in Pensacola, FL. The native of Candler County grew up in the Cobbtown area. He played lead guitar in several different bands, loved fishing, and reading. He especially enjoyed his time spent in the Gulf Shores and Pensacola area where he was loved by many. He was predeceased by a sister, Sherri Sisson Calloway.
Survivors include his sons, Zack Sisson of Sylvania, Josh Sisson of Nashville, TN; parents, Barney and Eloise Sisson of Cobbtown; brothers, Jimmy Sisson of Cuthbert, Donnie Sisson of Cobbtown; sister, Beth Miller of Cincinnati, OH; and granddaughter, Savannah Sisson.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 9, 2008, in the chapel of Kennedy - Morgan - Brannen Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Sunlight Cemetery.

Lottie B. Dixon Adams, 95
A beautiful, loving lady, Lottie B. Dixon Adams, 95 years young, of Metter went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2008. Lottie was a native of Candler County and a 1930 graduate of Metter High School. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Elliott Adams, who retired from the Georgia State Prison after 28 years.
Lottie and a few others attended church in a building that had to close in 1941, and was silent seven years during the depression. She was one of the few members, with God’s help, who revived Elza Baptist Church at the Georgia State Prison in Reidsville in 1948. She moved her membership to the First Baptist Church in Metter when she and Elliott moved back to Metter after retirement. She was a member and secretary - treasurer of the Fred L. Miles Sunday School Class for 25 years.
She retired from Lyons Manufacturing Company after 28 years and worked another 25 years at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Metter and Cobbtown. Lottie is best known for her loving personality and trying to make everyone she met feel that they were the most important, and, of course, for her delicious apple tarts and 13 layer chocolate cakes. She always saw a positive side to everything and everyone in her life.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Vivian and Bill Battles of Cocoa, FL; a son, Miles “Mike” Elliott Adams, Jr., and Debbie Fraker of Atlanta; grandson, Tony Davenport and wife, Roberta and Tony’s Dad, Charles Davenport all of Florida; granddaughter, Tami Payne and husband Clyde of Cadwell; four great grandchildren, Dillon and Katie Davenport, and Chris and Kasi Payne; nephew, John Gordon Dixon and wife, Matt of Atlanta; nieces, Betty Joyce Milan and Mary Frances Holt; and first cousin, Suzie Powell.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Rev. Royce Mosley and Rev. Fred Pifer officiating. Burial was in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Greg Tucker, Randall Baggett, Carroll Thompson, Grady Franklin, Jim O’Brien and Jamey O’Brien. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fred L. Miles Sunday School Class.

George W. (Junior) Collins, 82
George W. (Junior) Collins, 82, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at his home in Cobbtown. The native and life long resident of Cobbtown was a member of Connors Baptist Church. He was a farmer and a painter all of his life, serving as head supervisor of the paint detail of Georgia State Prison where he retired after 20 years. He was a member of the Adrian Fox Pen Club, loved life, family, his hunting dogs and cat fishing.
Survivors: his wife of 53 years, Delma Sikes Collins of Cobbtown; daughters and son - in - law, Debra and M.L. Brantley of Metter, Vivian and Marilyn Collins of Cobbtown; granddaughters Nikki Brantley of Metter, Kayla and Elaina Williams of Cobbtown; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, in the chapel of Kennedy - Morgan - Brannen Funeral Home of Metter. Burial will be in the Sunlight Cemetery
Pallbearers: Michael Williams, Buddy Collins, Marvin Dixon, Jackie Sikes, Larry Gene Sikes and Earl Sikes. Honorary pallbearers were his hunting buddies.

Myrl Harvey, 90
Mrs. Myrl Harvey, 90, passed away early Monday morning, March 3, 2008, at the Bethany Home in Vidalia. The Toombs County native had lived in Reidsville most of her life. She was a homemaker and a seamstress. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Tattnall Community Hospital and with the American Red Cross Blood Mobile. She was a member of the Reidsville Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Levy Harvey.
She is survived by two daughters and sons - in - law, Nancy and Paul Haley of Rome and Vivian and Howard Wright of Lyons; two sons and daughters - in - law, Larry and Pat Harvey of Rome and Jerry and Faye Jo Harvey of Claxton; sister, Leona McLendon of Vidalia; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5 at 1:00 p.m. from the Reidsville Baptist Church with Reverends Carlton Duke and Jimmy Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eddie Anderson, Jimmy Hattaway, Rabun Phillips, Bobby Collins, Danny Harvey and Wendell Harvey.
