Lorraine Drummond Baker

Lorraine Drummond Baker, age 84, of Morrow, Georgia died December 15, 2007. She was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan daughter of the late George and Katherine Simmon Lhotka. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, Kendall Baker and son, Bobby H. Drummond. She is the youngest and last survivor of eight children. She led Bible study and loved her grandchildren.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughter; Sue (Gene) Davenport of LaPalma, California; son; Craig (Vicki) Drummond of Morrow; stepchildren; John Baker, Jr. and Art Baker both of California, and Kendall Baker, Jr.; grandchildren, Rebecca (Bryan) Pearce of Jonesboro, Julie Davenport, and Mark Davenport of LaPalma, California; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 19, at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Roy Mack officiating. Interment Morrow Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Nan Gardner Brown

Mrs. Nan Gardner Brown, age 89, of Locust Grove, Georgia died December 5, 2007. Mrs. Brown was born in Spalding County the daughter of the late Lula Gaillard Gardner and Samuel Howell Gardner, Sr. Mrs. Brown enjoyed music, quilting, needlework, gardening, reading and cooking. She graduated McDonough High School class of 1935. She received her BA degree from GSCW in Milledgeville where she was a soprano soloist in the A Cappella Choir. She also studied at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. She received her Masters Degree in Education Supervision from the University of Georgia. She was a life long member of Locust Grove First Baptist Church where she was choir and music director for 35 plus years and taught the Gleaners Sunday School Class for 40 years. She taught voice at GSCW, at Chickamauga, and at Fountain Inn, South Carolina. She was Music Supervisor for Henry County Board of Education, taught private and public voice and piano, worked as an Air Traffic Controller during WWII, taught school in Locust Grove and worked as a county visiting teacher for Henry County. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed life and being around her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clifford Brown, Jr.; brother, John Gardner, and sisters, Bernice Gardner Brown and Lula Gardner Thomas.

Survivors are her children, Betty and Rod Shearhouse and Jane and John Lute, all of Locust Grove, Lynn and David Holt of Carrollton; grandchildren, Sam and Sandy Shearhouse, Cliff and Sandi Shearhouse, Ben and Anna Shearhouse, Gil and Kristi Shearhouse, Margaret and Kevin Livingston, Rachel and Dan Devitt, Colleen and Chris Wattts, Judith and Kevin Randolph, Will Holt, and Daniel Holt; 21 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Howell and Ann Gardner of Locust Grove; sister-in-law June Gardner Elkins of Locust Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held December 8 at Locust Grove First Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Bowers and Rev. Kenny Heath officiating. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. For those who wish in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering c/o First Baptist Church of Locust Grove. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Katherine Ann LeCroix Daum

Mrs. Katherine Ann LeCroix Daum, age 80, of McDonough, Georgia died December 5, 2007. Mrs. Daum was born in Birmingham, Michigan the daughter of the late Ouita Speer and Leonard LeCroix. She was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed her family, ceramics, needlework and her cat “Sheba”. Her husband, Richard Martin Daum, preceded her in death in 2000.

Survivors are her children, Rick and Kathy Daum of Austell and Jay Daum of McDonough; grandchildren, Zachery and Christopher Daum.

Services for Mrs. Daum were held December 9 at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Alvie Rogers officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mamie Lou Freeman Fields

Mrs. Mamie Lou Freeman Fields, age 95, of Atlanta, Georgia died December 5, 2007. Mrs. Fields was born in Mitchell County, the daughter of the late Mary Bell Cook and Charles Greg Freeman. Mrs. Fields was a member of Stewart Avenue United Methodist Church; she worked as a nursing assistant for Georgia Baptist Hospital before her retirement. She enjoyed walking around Springdale Christian Manor; she enjoyed TV, politics and cooking when she was able. Her husband, Joseph David Fields, Sr. and several siblings also preceded her in death.

Survivors are her children, Mary Jo and Terry Smith of McDonough and ?David Fields of Stockbridge; grandson, Michael Smith of McDonough; sister, Eula Arline of Fairburn; brother, Charles Freeman of Milledgeville and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held December 8 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Joe Colley officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Celma Aldridge

Mrs. Celma Chandler Aldridge, age 90, of Buchanan, Georgia passed away December 6, 2007. Mrs. Aldridge was born January 16, 1917, in Haralson County to the late Jessie and Dessie Hamrick Chandler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Williams and second husband, Stanley Aldridge; daughter, Annie Ruth Puckett; step-daughter in law, Dianna Aldridge; step-grandson, Tracy Aldridge; sisters, Ruth Chandler and Linnie Chandler; and brother and brother in law, Hershel Chandler and Douglas Hicks.

She was an inspector for Stoffel Seals and a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Mrs. Aldridge is survived by her son and daughter in law, Alfred and Joyce Williams, of Locust Grove, step-sons and daughter in law, Wayne and Diane Aldridge, and Ollie Aldridge; son in law, Richard Puckett, all of Tallapoosa; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brother in law, Doris and J. P. Mann, of Tallapoosa and Dorothy Hicks, of Bremen; brothers and sister in law, R. C. and Mary-Lee Chandler of Buchanan and Lawrence and Annie-Lou Chandler of Buchanan.

Funeral services were held December 8 at Providence Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Munroe and Chester Pesnell officiating. Music was provided by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Pallbearers serving were David Williams, Ricky Williams, Steve Williams, Darrin Aldridge, Brandon Wright and Joshua Owen.

Interment Providence Church Cemetery. Sympathies may be sent the family at www.miller-funeralhome.com. Miller Funeral Home of Tallapoosa in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Coppolino

Ruth Coppolino, age 78, of McDonough, Georgia died December 6, 2007. She was born in Switchback, West Virginia to the late Harmon and Effie Yates Fisher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Joseph Coppolino, six brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Coppolino was a member of Wesley Way United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Coppolino is survived by her daughter, Edie Coppolino of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Kelly Coppolino of Dacula; grandson, Joseph Coppolino; twin sister, Ruby Wilson of Princeton, West Virginia; brother, Virgil Fisher of Pulaski, Virginia; and 37 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on December 8 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Charles Wilson and Rev. Greg Meadows officiating. Interment College Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sacred Journey Hospice Foundation, 136 Peach Drive, McDonough, GA 30253. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, in charge of arrangements.

Carolyn Ethridge

Carolyn Ethridge, age 66, of McDonough, Georgia died Thursday, December 6, 2007. She was born in Fitzgerald to the late George Washington and Effie Hogan Johnson. Mrs. Ethridge loved to sew, play games on the computer, work crossword puzzles, loved to bake cakes, and go to the beach. But most important to her were her grandchildren.

Ms. Ethridge is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and John Densmore of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Angie Ethridge of Senoia; grandchildren, Jason Ethridge of Senoia, Hope Ethridge of Senoia, Kyle Densmore of McDonough; brother, Wiley Johnson of Wetumpka, Alabama, and sister, Ann Mitchell of McDonough.

Memorial Services were held on December 9. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
