Jennifer Cowan Bryant, 26

Mrs. Jennifer Cowan Bryant, age 26, of Houston County died Monday, June 9, 2008, at Emory University Hospital of Atlanta after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. The Albany, Georgia, native had resided in Houston County most of her life.
Jennifer is survived by two daughters, Deaven Bryant and Madison Bryant both of Warner Robbins; one son, Seth Bryant of Warner Robbins; her parents, Josie Fairchild Pritchard of Hawkinsville, and Wayne Irvin Cowan, Sr.; two brothers, Wayne Cowan Jr. and Bruce Cowan; maternal grandfather, Orville Fairchild of Kathleen; paternal grandmother, Maxine Cowan; two aunts, Melonie and William Smith of Reidsville, and Gloria and Tracy Howard of Kathleen; several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jennifer Cowan Bryant were held Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. from the Emanuel Passion Church of God with Rev. Marshall Johnson officiating.
Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.

Harry Lee Collins, 91

Harry Lee Collins, 91, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Evans Memorial Hospital after a long illness. The Tattnall County native had been living in Evans County since 1938. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and former member of Woodmen of the World and Lions Club. Before his retirement he was owner of Collins Used Cars and Service Station. He retired with 50 years from Savannah Morning News.
He is survived by a son and daughter - in - law, Harry Leon and Nora Collins of Hagan; a daughter and son - in - law, Jayne and George “Jr” Sheffield of Bellville; one sister, Virginia Scott of Vidalia; three grandchildren and six great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Craig Hutto officiating. Burial followed at Brewton Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to GA Home Hospice, 806 Maple Dr., Vidalia, GA 30474.

Daniel “Dan” E. Dasher, 76

Daniel “Dan” E. Dasher, 76, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro. The Tattnall County native had lived in Dover, FL, for 30 years before moving back to Glennville in 1990. He was a carpenter and painter in the construction industry and attended Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Napoleon and Dessie Brannen Dasher.
He is survived by a wife of 23 years, Margaret Garrett Dasher of Glennville; sons and daughters - in - law, Ronnie and Wendy Dasher of Riverview, FL and Terry and Diane Dasher of Glennville; daughter and son - in - law, Diane and Dewayne Smith of Dover, FL; step - daughter, Elizabeth Archer of Dover, FL; brother, Sammy Dasher of Fayetteville, NC; 13 grandchildren, 12 great - grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 7, 2008, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Cason officiating. Burial followed in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donnie Epperson, Royce Folsom, Eddie Skeens, Dewayne Howard, Brent Folsom and Mike Folsom.

Lois Purvis Shepard, 90

Lois Purvis Shepard, 90, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. She was a native of Emanuel County, where she lived most of her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Brown Shepard; two sons, George Timothy Faircloth and David Stewart Faircloth; a grandson, William Marvin Faircloth, III; her parents, Tom Alfred Timothy Purvis and Luella Stewart Purvis; four sisters and one brother, Clara Beatrice Mimbs, Ada Sumner, Leotha Shepard, Allegra Riner and Ernest Purvis and three special cats, Snow, Frank and Mollie.
Mrs. Shepard graduated from Metter High School and attended college in Milledgeville. She lived and worked in Georgia and Florida and returned to settle in Swainsboro. She worked with the United States Postal service as both a star and rural mail route carrier. She retired from the United States Postal Service in Twin City at the young age of 75.
As a member of Hawhammock Baptist Church for more than 30 years, Mrs. Shepard served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher and in many other ways. She loved spending time with her family, was an avid reader, loved to study God’s Word, loved to work in her garden, fish in Canoochee Creek, burn leaves and smoke, which she did for over 75 years and always wanted to see the moon every night.
She is survived by three sons and daughters - in - law, William Marvin Jr. and Mary Sue Faircloth of Midville, Michael Purvis and Peggy Shepard of Lawrenceville, and Reverend Thomas M. Shepard and Lawanda Shepard of Collins; three stepsons, Benny Joe Shepard of Cartersville, Gerald Shepard of Senoia and Jimmy and Becky Shepard of Morrow; one stepdaughter, Connie Griffin of Opelika, AL; ten grandchildren including Ann Atkinson, Wesley Shepard, Millie Shepard and Brooks Clark; several great - grandchildren including Michael Atkinson, Scott Atkinson, Will Atkinson, Kristen Faircloth and Emily Clark; one great - great - grandchild, Isaiah Clark and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Reverend Louis Pearce, Mrs. Shepard’s pastor for over 30 years, officiating. Interment followed at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Laurens County.
Tomlinson Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of the arrangements.

Tommie Loyd Sikes, 94

Tommie Loyd Sikes, 94, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at Azalea Nursing Home in Metter. The Tattnall County native and lifelong resident was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a member of the Cobbtown Baptist Church. Tommie loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and whittling woodcrafts.
He is survived by his wife, Myrl Sewell Sikes; two sons and daughters - in - law, H.L. “Johnny” and Nancy Sikes of Ellabell, Tommie L. and Edith Sikes of Metter; a brother, Bob Sikes of Metter and a sister, Marie Collins - Howell of Perry; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and two great - great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday June 9, 2008, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Reverend Walter Leverett officiating. Burial followed in the Sunlight Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Sikes, Kevin Sikes, Michael Morrow, David Collins and Jimmy Collins. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Dean Collins, Buddy Collins, James Curl, Josh Powell, Jerry Powell and Jeremy Curl.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Moore Wilson, 90

Dorothy Moore Wilson, 90, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Tattnall County native lived in this area her whole life. She and her husband owned and operated Wilson’s Grocery for many years. She was also a homemaker and a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Wilson.
She is survived by her children, Shelby Dasher (Roger), John Wilson (Nancy) and Jack Wilson (Lori), all of Glennville; sisters, Louise Salter of Lyons, Margie Kennedy of Crystal River, FL, Maxine Anderson of TN, and Shirley Blocker of Glennville; brothers, T.A. Moore of Crystal River, FL and Tommy Moore of Glennville; grandchildren, Lori Moody, Lisa Baxter, Susan Parker, Emilie Wilson, Paige Snell, Dustin Wilson, Landen Wilson and Lauren Wilson; 11 great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 7, 2008, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, with Reverend Jeff Brazell officiating. Burial followed in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Baxter, Bill Whitlow, Glen Curry, Bob Whitlow, Steve Knight, Jesse Durrence and Henry O’Neal.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Imogene Collins Wrenn, 89

Imogene Collins Wrenn, 89, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at the Bethany Home in Vidalia. She was a Tattnall County lifelong resident, homemaker and a retired seamstress of Rosebud Manufacturing Co. in Vidalia. Mrs. Wrenn was very active in the Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she was the oldest charter member. She was happiest when she was cooking for her family and visiting with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Wrenn, and a son - in - law, William P. Phillips.
She is survived by a son and daughter - in - law, Lynwood and Frances Wrenn of Griffin; two daughters and sons - in - law, Mildred Phillips of Ailey and Harriett and Vernon Gordy of Rincon; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, at the Pine Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Rogers and Rev. Reland Morgan officiating. Burial followed in the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers, and the Pine Grove Deacons as honorary pallbearers. Remembrances may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church, 3317 Pine Grove Church Rd., Collins, GA 30421, or to the Bethany Home, POB 668, Vidalia, GA 30474.

Washington Daniel (Billy) Wright, Jr., 63

Washington Daniel (Billy) Wright, Jr., entered this life October 5, 1944, and entered into eternal rest at the age of 63 on June 6, 2008.
Washington, known as Billy Jack, was the son of Washington Daniel Wright, Sr., and Emma Lee Hines Wright. He attended school in Long County where he graduated in 1962. He joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where he sang in the choir under the leadership of Reverend J.E. Clark. Later in life, he joined St. James AME Church where he also sang in the choir. Later, he moved his membership to first Pleasant Hill Church in Baxley, GA, where he remained until his death.
He was very active in the community. He loved helping people any way that he could. He was a devoted member and father and was a very lovable person who enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved fishing and spending time with his loved ones. He was also a devoted companion. He served his country in the United States Army for many years. He also worked on Fort Stewart, GA, as a Civil Servant Worker and retired. He also worked on Dowdy Farms and was an independent driver.
He leaves to cherish his memory his fiancé, Shirley Holmes; children, Tenna (David) Smith, Natasha (Curtis) Walker, Jackie Buckner and Glenda (Antonio) Ward; four sisters, Odessa Mathes, Doris (Elder) Roberson, Irvine Middleton, Birdie Fred (John) Harris; brother, Bobby (Linda) Wright; 15 grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, several uncles, aunts and cousins; a host of step children that he loved and helped raise; and devoted friends, Hubert Fair and Earl Mincey. Billy had many friends and loved ones. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church in Ludowici, GA, with Reverend Joe Frank Moore officiating, with burial following in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Hubert Fair, David Richardson, Marshall Broadhurst, Fulton Smith, Sr., Earl Mincey, Clymon Tanner, Johnny Smith, Cleveland Mincey, Navey Johnson, Tom Farlow and Aubrey Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons and friends.

Beverly Anne Elizabeth Cook Collins, 70

Beverly Anne Elizabeth Cook Collins, 70, beloved mother and wife went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ Friday, August 22, 2008, at her home under the care of United Hospice. The Michigan native moved here 23 years ago. Beverly went to school at age 45 and became an LPN. She worked at the Candler County Hospital until her illness forced her to retire. She always had a smile on her face no matter how bad she felt. She was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Collins Sr. of Collins; one son, Lloyd Sain, and two daughters and a son - in - law, Sheila and Rick Lancaster of Battle Creek, MI, and Sheryl Collins of Jesup; step children, Earl Collins Jr. of Collins and Theresa and Ro Collins of Pembrook Pine, FL; a brother, Bill Cook; two sisters, Linda Morgan and Marie Ebert, all of Michigan; grandchildren, Nikki Collins and Dennis Fedulov, Joey and Audrey Collins, Brian and Amanda Rogers, Amber, Kyle and Rachel Sain; also great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her precious dog, Poochie.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Reverend Jim Rogers officiating. Burial followed in the Connors Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Glen Slater, Chris Medlock, Eddie Funderburke, Kim Stevens, Rick Coley and Raymond Brown.

James Davis, 64

Mr. James Davis, 64, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at the Glenvue Nursing Home where he was a resident for a number of years. He was born in Evans County on April 16, 1944, to the late Henry and Ruthie Mae Davis of Glennville, GA.
He leaves to cherish his memories three sisters and brothers - in - law, Marion and Robert Collins and Bonnie Berry, both of Glennville, GA, and Shirley and Ernest Harvell of Jacksonville, FL; five brothers and sisters - in - law, Jimmy and Linda Davis, E.C. and Geraldine Davis, Jerome and Misty Davis and J.D. Davis, all of Glennville, GA, and Perry and Liz Davis of Metter, GA; one uncle and aunt, Eugene and Chaney Slaughter of Savannah, GA, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 23, 2008, at the Center of Life Church of God in Glennville, GA. Burial followed in the Robert Chapel cemetery in Tyson, GA.
King and Son’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
