Sarah Pierce Holland, 77, died on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Hospice Savannah, with her family at her side. She was born in Surrency, GA, and had formerly been employed with Kress and J.C. Penny’s. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Glenn Vernon Holland of Garden City; daughter, Phyllis Holland of Garden City; brother, Jennings L. Pierce of Jacksonville, FL; adopted children, James and Janice Garrett of Garden City; adopted grandchildren, Jennifer Garrett of Garden City, Joshua and Jonathan Garrett, both of Macon and three nephews, Cecil and Rusty Pierce, both of Savannah and Richard Pierce of Jacksonville, FL.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 22, 2008, at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel, with burial following at Greenwich Cemetery. Remembrances may be given to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA, 31416.

Ruby Crews Hutcheson, 83

Mrs. Ruby Crews Hutcheson, 83, passed away Saturday August 23, 2008, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Savannah. The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville all of her life. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Hutcheson; daughters, Madeline Hutcheson and Patsy Harrelson; grandson, Gary Harrelson; great - grandson, Curt Harrelson.
She is survived by two sons and daughters - in - law, Rodney and Karen Hutcheson and Eddie and Faye Hutcheson all of Reidsville; brother and sister - in - law, Harry and Inez Crews of Reidsville; sister, Glennes Gay of Reidsville; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four great - great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday, August 26, 2008, from the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Little Flock Church Cemetery.

Bernice Carlton Hunley Massey, 97

Bernice Carlton Hunley Massey, 97, passed away, Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at North Spring Assisted Living Center in Claxton under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was a native of Thomas County, having been born and reared on Greenwood Plantation near Thomasville, GA. she and her husband, Bob Massey moved to Glennville in 2001. She was an active member of The Hill Baptist Church in Augusta for over thirty years. After moving to Glennville she was a member of the The Glennville United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a dedicated homemaker. She was a great lover of nature and did not meet a rock or leaf she did not like. Her joys in life were gardening and taking care of her beloved cats, Dash and Trixie, who knew where to find a loving family and home. Her mission in life was being a caretaker, not only for her husband and children, but she also lovingly took care of her mother, several sisters and a brother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Robert William “Bob” Massey.
She is survived by her daughter and son - in - law, LeAnne and Wendell Durrence of Glennville; son and daughter - in - law, Robert William Massey Jr. and Brittany of Atlanta; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 25, 2008, at Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Vance Riggins officiating. Burial followed Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Laurel Hill cemetery in Thomasville, GA.
Pallbearers were Jill Griffin, Pamela Bacon, Carol Barrow, Ann Brewton, Enneshia Denson, Lesley Ann Murphy, Bonnie Sapp, Bobbie Stuckey and Carolyn Wright.
Remembrances may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA, 30458, or North Springs Assisted Living, 4 N. Spring St., Claxton, GA, 30417.

Gladys Lorrene Geiger Minnich, 81

Gladys Lorrene Geiger Minnich, age 81, formerly of Columbia, SC, died of pneumonia August 15, 2008, at Marietta Health and Rehab Nursing Home in Atlanta after a long battle with dementia. A private memorial service will be held near her childhood home, Reidsville, Georgia, at Rome Church cemetery on August 31.
Family or friends who wish to attend may contact Bradley Anderson Funeral Home in Reidsville at 912 - 557 - 6783. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Rodolfo Perez Jr., infant

Rodolfo Perez Jr., infant child of Sara Ramirez Rodriquez and Rodolfo Perez Sr. of Oak Park, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at MCG in Augusta.
The paternal grandfather is Santiago Perez, and the maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jose Ramirez.
Funeral services were Saturday, August 23, in the chapel. Burial was in the Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Kennedy - Morgan - Brannen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Coleman Powell, 82

Mildred Coleman Powell, 82, died Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Candler County Hospital. The Tattnall County lifelong resident was a homemaker and worked side by side with her husband farming. Milder was an avid gardener, growing beautiful roses, and she loved to fish. She was a member of the Connors Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Powell of Cobbtown; two sons, Jimmie Powell of Vidalia and Eddie Powell of Warner Robins; two sisters, Evelyn Coleman of Huntsville, AL and Emma Hess of Cobbtown; two grandchildren, Joel Powell and Heather Williams and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Dr. Roger Branch officiating. Burial followed in the Sunlight Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Edward Kennedy, Raymond Brown, Wesley Coley, Steve Sewell, Danny Collins and Wiley Sumner.
Kennedy Funeral Home, Cobbtown Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Janet Hardy
Mrs. Janet C. Hardy, age 55, of Soperton, died at her home Monday, December 27, 2010.
Mrs. Hardy was retired from Montgomery County Bank and was a member of Lothair United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Rhodus Hardy; children, Janna Hardy, Reidsville, and Ryan (Toni) Hardy, Soperton; parents Wannell and Paul Collins, Mt. Vernon; sisters, Paula C. (Robert) Bridges, and Lisa (Billy) Warren, all of Mt. Vernon; brother, Jerald Collins, Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Haley Hardy, Ryleigh Hardy, and Jalen Hardy.
Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 30. Burial will be in Red Bluff Cemetery, Treutlen County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Cristina Salazar, infant

Infant Cristina Salazar passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008, at the Evans Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her parents, Patrocinio and Ernestina Salazar of Reidsville; sister, Georgia Sanchez and brother, Bernabe Sanchez, both of Reidsville
Graveside funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday from the McArthur - Joyce Family Cemetery.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home is serving the Salazar Family.

Gladys Miller

Mrs. Gladys B. Miller, age 84 of Hendersonville, TN died January 14, 2011, after an extended illness and is now with the Lord Jesus.
She was born October 22, 1926, in Adrian, GA to Dorsey and Lizzie Durden Beasley, but spent most of her adult life in Macon, GA. The last nine years she has resided with her family in TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roger H. Miller, and her brother, Rayford Beasley.
Survivors include her daughters, Peggy (Doug) Westberry of Pelham, GA and Patricia (George) Harris of Hendersonville, TN; sister, Adele Englebert of Cussetta, GA; brother, Dorsey (Judy) Beasley, Jr., of Kite, GA; four grandchildren, and five great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 19. Burial will be in the Heath Cemetery, Treutlen County.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, January 18, from 6 to 8 p.m.

William Allen Sikes, 42

William Allen Sikes, 42, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at his residence under the care of Georgia Health Care Hospice. He was born January 21, 1966, in Wayne County and lived in Ludowici and Glennville all of his life. He was a 1984 graduate of Glennville High School and was employed with J. M. Forestry as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Rita Durrence Sikes of Glennville; children, Troy, Nicky and Ben Sikes, all of Glennville; parents, Billy W. and Louise Sikes of Glennville; sister and brother - in - law, Larenda and Heath Dasher of Glennville; nephews, Logan and Jackson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2008, at Harmony United Methodist Church with Rev. Truett Leveritt officiating. Burial will f sollow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Joe Folsom, Billy Barnard, Lawrence Durham, Al Sikes, Nick Rogers, Jeffrey Folsom and Jerry Bland.

Edgar Early Smith, 78

Edgar Early Smith, 78, died Sunday, August 24, 2008, at his residence. The Lowndes County native was retired from the U.S. Army and moved to Glennville from Darien three years ago. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise C. Smith.
He is survived by his son, Carl McCormack; granddaughters, Carolyn R. Smith of Glennville and Diane E. Smith and Sara D. Traver of Brunswick and five great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2008, at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Imogene Dyess Stiegman, 88

Imogene Dyess Stiegman, 88, died Monday, August 25, 2008, at her residence. The Evans County native had lived in Glennville most of her married life. She was a former beautician, having worked at Fine’s in Savannah. She was a loving mother and homemaker and a member of Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn A. Stiegman and several siblings.
She is survived by a daughter and son - in - law, Pam and Russell Terry Waters of Glennville; son and daughter - in - law, Glenn and Glenda Stiegman of Isle of Palms, SC; son, Steve Stiegman of Glennville; sister, Helen Burke of Townsend; a loving caretaker and companion, Becky Laufman; seven grandchildren, Glenn A. Stiegman III, Amanda Stiegman, Ashley Stiegman, Shawn Waters, Ryan Waters, Brandon Waters and Garrett Stiegman; three great grandchildren, Macy Waters, Griffin Stiegman and Iris Stiegman.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 27, 2008, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Elder Spencer Moore officiating. Burial followed in Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dave Gilmour, Ryan Waters, Brandon Waters, Garrett Stiegman, Glenn A. Stiegman III, Clarence Purvis, Don Cobb and Butch Block.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
