William Rudolph “Rudy” Manning, 39

William Rudolph “Rudy” Manning, 39, passed away March 5, 2009, after a short illness, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah.
Rudy was a native and lifelong resident of Evans County ands was of the Baptist faith. He was owner and operator of Manning Concrete & Finishing. Rudy was a member of the Ezell Lodge #335, Alee Temple of Savannah and Claxton Shrine Club. Rudy was preceded in death by his older sister, Lori Hughes.
He is survived by his mother, Emily Manning of Claxton; father and step - mother, Gary and Patsy Manning of Brunswick; sister and brother - in - law, Lara and Tony Pedraza of Hinesville; half - sisters, Melissa Martinez and Heather Pitts of Brunswick; niece, Brandi Harper and nephew, Bryan Hughes.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 9, 2009, at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Harold Smith and Elder Jimmy Haire officiating. Burial followed in Bull Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronald Hutcheson, Donald Hutcheson, Harry Conley, Guy Macbride, Tom DeLoach and Kevin Thomas.
Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home, Claxton, GA, was in charge of the arrangements.

Walter W. Woodrum, 89

Walter W. Woodrum, 89, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Long County native had lived in this area most of his life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran retiring after 21 years of service as Master SGT. and a member of Glennville VFW Post #8379. He was retired form Civil Service at Ft. Stewart, a member and Deacon of Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Donnie Woodrum, sister Ernestine Anderson and brother, Devoit Woodrum.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Midge) Woodrum of Glennville; son and daughter - in - law, David and Suzanne Woodrum of Savannah; daughters and son - in - law, Fran and Mike Dubberly of Manassas, VA, and Pollian Camp of Lawrenceville, GA; sister, Eugenia Surrency of Claxton; five grandchildren, ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 6, 2009, from the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Elder Jim Bowen officiating. Burial followed in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Dubberly, Nathan Vickery, Jacob Vickery, Zachary Montford, Terry Surrency and Ricky Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Loves Chapel Church.
Remembrances may be made to Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Building Fund, 3410 Loves Chapel Road, Glennville, GA 30427.

Glenes Crews Gay, 90

Ms. Glenes Crews Gay, age 90, passed away Saturday morning at the Tattnall Healthcare in Reidsville. The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Elza Baptist Church. She loved to fish, cook and had a hand in raising all her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gay; Sons, Bobby Jack Gay and Jackie Gay; daughter, Bennie Ann Harrelson; and granddaughter, Bobbie Donna Smith.
She is survived by her son, Billy Joe Gay of Reidsville; brother, Harry Crews of Reidsville; seven grandchildren, Andy Gay, Dwaine Gay, Heath Gay, Shawn Gay, Bobby Jack Gay, Letitia Riley, and Jackie Ann Gay; fifteen great - grandchildren, and two great - great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services were held Monday, March 2, 2009, from the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Spence officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Crews, Mark Crews, Rob Hutcheson, David Crews, Rodney Hutcheson and Robert Scarbrough.

Noah “Kirk” O. Kirkland, 77

Noah “Kirk” O. Kirkland, 77, died Friday, February 27, 2009, at Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Georgia Home Health Care Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in Tattnall County most of his life. He was a heavy equipment operator with Tattnall County, retiring in 1996 after 13 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Doshie Kirkland and a brother, William E. Kirkland.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathleen K. Kirkland of Glennville; daughter and son - in - law, Gail O. and Leighton Dasher of Glennville; son, Barry Odom of Glennville; grandchildren, Lee Durrence (Renee), Lew Durrence (Holly), Kathi Durrence, all of Glennville, April Nail (Kelly) of Brunswick, Shawn Odom (Vicky), Shane Odom (Stephanie), Debra Odom (Wayne) and Donna Odom, all of Glennville; nieces, Donna Sue Kirkland and Kayla Durden of Metter.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Summerford officiating. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lee Durrence, Lew Durrence, Shawn Odom, Shane Odom, Glenn Kicklighter and Donnie Jones.

Stacie Lee Madigan, 36

Stacie Lee Madigan, 36, of Metter died Friday, February 27, 2009, at her home. She had lived in Metter since 1992, moving here from Florida. Stacie loved singing, fishing and her dog, Wimpy.
She is survived by her husband, Dougie Sikes of Metter; mother and step - father, Diana Madigan and Pete Mantz of Travelers Rest, SC; father, Stephen Madigan of Addison, NY; five brothers, Claude Jones of Travelers Rest, SC, Pat Madigan of Zepherhills, FL, Sean Madigan of Daytona, FL, Darren Madigan of Syracuse, NY and Stephen Wayne Madigan Jr. of Hornell, NY; four sisters, Tammy Putnam of Newton, NC, Dawn Leisure of Hawaii, Melissa Mehlenbacher of Hornell,
NY and her twin, Tracie Orrender of Painted Post, NY; mother and father - in - law, Hazel Sikes of Metter and Daniel Sikes of Claxton.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel with Rev. John Long and Raymond Harbuck officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bubba Morgan, Danny Sikes, Timmy Sikes, Daniel Sikes, and D. J. Sikes.

Shirley Beatrice Branch Mock, 72

Shirley Beatrice Branch Mock, 72, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Tattnall County native had lived in Savannah and Glennville all of her life. She was retired from Baker Brothers Inc. after 30 plus years of service. She was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church, Elizabeth Circle and Friendship Sunday school class. She was a member of Azalea Hostess Chapter of American Business Women’s Association. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Mock; parents, Willie and Clara Branch; sister, June B. Padgett and brother, Arthur (Skeeter) Branch.
She is survived by her husband, Edsel J. Mock of Glennville/Savannah; sisters, Jackie Pate of Richmond Hill, Odene B. (Lee) Lehman of Glennville and Dianne B. (Ralph) Clark of McRae; brother, Gary (Juanita) Branch of Glennville; aunt, Juanita Phillips of Richmond Hill; sister - in - law, Jane (Tommy) Johnston of Ludowici; brother - in - law, Van (Virginia) Mock of Glennville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 2, 2009, at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend John Haney officiating. Burial followed in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Foster and nephews.
Remembrances may be made to White Bluff United Methodist Church, 11911 White Bluff Rd., Savannah, GA 31419.

Billie Dutton Kennedy Rewis, 79

On February 27, 2009, Billie Dutton Kennedy Rewis was gloriously received at the Golden Gates of Heaven by her loved ones that had gone on before her: Henry C. (Bubba) Kennedy, husband, Debra K. Tripp, daughter, Cassie Bell Smith Dutton, Mother, General Clayton Dutton, Father, and brothers, Mandell, Julian, Hubert, Paul, and Joe Brown Dutton.
She will so sadly be missed by her surviving family: daughters, Donna K. Parrott, and Deidra K. Weldon, grandchildren, Stephanie Parrott Gordon, Tracy Tripp, Cassie Parrott Lottman, Joshua Weldon, Jessica Weldon Steger, Jamie Weldon Millwood, Hope Weldon, and her “special little angel” great grandchildren Emily Tripp, Janie Tripp, Rebecca Tripp, Brianna Weldon, Kevin Lottman, Blake Weldon, Brooklynn Steger, Trevor Manderson, Faith Millwood and Shawn Lottman.
She is also survived by her sister Emma Jean Dasher, several nieces and nephews that she loved as her own and her “special children” at the Tattnall County Court House where she served many wonderful years as the Clerk of Superior Court.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the diabetes, heart, or cancer foundations or to the Reidsville Baptist Church.
May she now be free of her pain and suffering here on earth and live the life she so wanted and prayed for with her heavenly father.
Pallbearers were Dale Dutton, Paul Dutton, Al Danner, Hamp Danner, Stacy Dutton, Delvis Dutton, Keith Pirkle, and Kevin Dutton. Honorary pallbearers were Employees of the Tattnall County Courthouse, and Faith Sunday School Class.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. from the Reidsville Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Miller and Rev. Sterling Bargeron officiating. Interment followed in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Jack A. Rimes, Jr., 82

Jack A. Rimes, Jr., 82, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at Hospice Savannah. He was born in Bulloch County moving to Glennville in 1935 with his parents Jack and Lillian Rimes. They started Rimes Mortuary, which they owned and operated until 1993. He was a graduate of Gupton Jones Mortuary College, magna cum laude, graduate of Georgia Southern University and University of Georgia and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was employed with GMAC for 17 years, a former member and president of the Glennville Rotary Club, Glennville Lions Club, a Shriner, Mason and member of Philadelphia Lodge #73. He was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church where he was a deacon, taught Sunday school and a member of the choir.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jackie Rimes of Glennville; daughters and sons - in - law, Paula and Richard DeLoach and Vicki and Bobby Nelson, all of Glennville; grandchildren, Michele DeLoach, Richie DeLoach, Bejay Dasher, David DeLoach and Elizabeth Nelson; step grandchildren, Jennifer Bradley and Audrey Pinckard; ten great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 27, 2009, at 11 a.m., from the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville, with Elder W.H. Durrence and Reverend Rick Brown officiating. Burial followed in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jesse Finch, S.E. Smith, Henry O’Neal, Troy Rahn, Vernon Dasher, Gene Wilds, Terry Quick and Asa Maund.
Remembrances may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Beulah Lee Baxter Winge, 86

Beulah Lee Baxter Winge was born on March 7, 1922, and moved to heaven February 25, 2009. She was residing at the home of her son, Charles Edwin Winge. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was a Christian and member of Glennville Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Hurder Nash Baxter; mother, Lizzie Beasley Baxter; brothers, Floyd and Dan Baxter and a sister, Opal Howard.
She is survived by her children, Patricia and Wayne Tootle of Cairo, GA, Charles and Saundra Winge of Glennville, Elaine and Gerald Durrence of Corinth, MS and Kathy and Dewey Edwards of Murrayville, GA; brother, Barnie Baxter of Glennville; sisters, Elba Harwell of Savannah and Myrl Brown of Homerville, GA; eight granddaughters, three grandsons, 32 great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 27, 2009, at the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Dann Patrick officiating. Burial followed in the Winge Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Baxter, Dennis Gary Baxter, Matthew Edwards, Phillip Edwards, Stephen Edwards, Shands Howard, Roger Kicklighter and Jay Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Felix Moring, Joel Moring and Deacons of Glennville Freewill Baptist Church.
