Annie Mae Mooney Hendrix, 61

Annie Mae Mooney Hendrix, 61, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009, at Tattnall Nursing Care. The Alabama native had lived in Collins and Reidsville for several years. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her husband, H.R. Hendrix of Collins; sons, Jimmy Giles and Thomas Giles, both of Tallassee, AL, Marvin Hendrix of Collins, Billy Hendrix of Bellville, Travis Hendrix of Claxton, James Hendrix and Henry Hendrix, both of Thunderbolt; daughters, Virginia Giles of Collins, Debra Crapse of Nevils and Patricia Newton of Guyton; sisters, Jessie Hutchinson and Deen Waddle, both of Montgomery, AL; 20 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial funeral services were held Monday, June 15, 2009, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home of Reidsville was in charge of the arrangements.

Jewell Byrd Lynn, 91

Jewell Byrd Lynn, 91, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton. The Tattnall County native and lifelong resident was retired after 47 years as an Avon representative. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. Mrs. Jewell loved working in her yards, keeping them spotless even though her home was surrounded by oak and pecan trees. She was a member of the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman “Jug” Lynn; two sons, Harvard Lynn and Edwin Lynn.
She is survived by a son, Durell Lynn of Claxton; a special daughter - in - law, Linda Lynn of Claxton; nine grandchildren, Michele Royal (Robert), Heath Lynn (Karen), Rex Lynn (Elizabeth), Crystal Morales (John), Tara Mincey (David), Lisa Jordan, Raine Boyd, Grey Lynn (Karen) and Kelly Fort (Leonard); and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Steve Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 2130 Cedar Creek Church Rd., Collins, GA 30421, or Camelia Rehabilitation Patient Fund, POB 712, Claxton, GA 30417.

Robert Lee Sapp, 70

Robert Lee Sapp, 70, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009, at his residence. He lived most of his life in Evans County and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy H. Sapp and his parents, Talmadge L. and Gladys L. Bunton Sapp.
He is survived by one son, Robert Dallas Sapp of Reidsville; one daughter, Tonya Leigh Sapp of Atlanta; one brother, Ernest D. Sapp of Claxton; one sister, Myrtle Ann Powell of Lake Placid, FL; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jimmy Haire officiating. Burial followed in Brewton Cemetery.

Sallye Burnham, 68

Sallye Burnham, age 68, passed away in Savannah, Monday, October 26, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmason Purvis Kane Sr. and Lillie Mae Horton and brother, Emmason Purvis Kane Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Burnham; son, Jason Scott Deloach; stepson, Donald Burnham Jr. (Angel); grandchildren, Dawn and Saresa; sister, Sandra Browning (Walter Joe Browning Sr.); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2009, in the Fairhaven Funeral Chapel, at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Please sign the on - line guest register at www.fairhavenfuneralhome.net.

Doris Futch, 64

Ms. Doris Futch, 64, of Glennville, GA, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Doctor’s Hospital in Reidsville, Ga. She was a member of Greater Zachariah Baptist Church of Glennville and a graduate of the class of 1962 of Tattnall Industrial High School in Reidsville.
She is survived by one son and daughter - in - law, Chris and Monica Johnson of Augusta, GA; and two daughters and sons - in - law, Nicole and Kenny Jones of Augusta, and Annette and Ronald Harvey of Glennville; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Freddie Cooper of Glennville, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Greater Zachariah Baptist Church in Glennville, with burial in the Glennville City cemetery in Glennville, GA.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 30, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., at King and Son’s Funeral Home Chapel in Glennville, GA.
King and Sons’ Funeral Home of Glennville, is in charge of arrangements.

William Jerry Futch, 49

William Jerry Futch, 49, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all of his life. He was formerly employed with the Tattnall County Road Department and was preceded in death by his long time fiancé, Jessica Roseagard Wilde.
He is survived by his parents, Theron and Katie Lee Futch of Reidsville; sons and daughter - in - law Jamie and Amber Futch of Reidsville and Eric Futch of Sylvania; four grandchildren, Ashely Futch, Alexa Futch, Anthony Futch and Devin Banks and several other relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 27, 2009, from the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Brother Danny Durrence officiating. Burial followed in Pineview Church Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 29 Leinback Dr. #D - 5, Charleston, SC 29407.
Pallbearers were Elvin Todd, Richard Bland, Dean McLeod, Larry Bland, Ronnie McLeod, Mourice Bland, Ricky Bland and Terry Garrett. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Ray, Claude Dixon, Jane McKinnon and Michael McNeal.

Terry Darwin Joseph, 46

Terry Darwin Joseph, 46, passed away Monday, October 19, 2009. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all of his life. He was employed with the family business, Joseph Construction Company, as a carpenter by trade. He is preceded in death by his parents, Darwin and Linda Joseph.
He is survived by his mother, Willie Bell Joseph of Glennville; children, Brandi Joseph and Matthew Clark of Ludowici, Lindy Joseph and Lee Joseph, both of Glennville; brothers and sisters - in - law, Sam and Staci Joseph and Ricky and Eva Wilson, all of Glennville and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Miller officiating. Burial followed in Stoney Hill Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Glen Curry, Kevin Dixon, Jimmy McCurdy, Michael Lynn, Dana Dixon and Ronnie McLeod.

James Edward Marshburn, 64

James Edward Marshburn, 64, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at Candler County Hospital in Metter. The Evans County native had lived in Savannah for many years prior to moving back to this area five years ago. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping, hunting and fishing. He retired from Great Dane Trailer Company and was a member of Birdford Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezelle and Ossie Mae Weathers Marshburn and brother, Joe Wilson.
He is survived by his former wife, Marie Marshburn of Bloomingdale; sisters, Annette Groover and Tille DeLoach of Glennville and Martha Guy of Townsend; brother, Gerald Marshburn of Glennville and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held Sunday, October 25, 2009, at Glennville Memorial Gardens with Reverend Vance Riggins officiating.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Carl Manning Sapp, 72

Carl Manning Sapp, 72, of Cobbtown, Georgia, husband of Mildred Unglesbee Sapp, died Sunday evening, October 25, 2009, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Cobbtown, Georgia, he was a son of the late Bailey Sapp and the late Lillian Phillips Sapp. Mr. Sapp was of the Baptist faith and he retired from Forest City Gun Club in Savannah. He loved fishing, skeet shooting, hunting, and more particularly deer hunting. Mr. Sapp was also an avid gardener. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lora Meeks.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Mildred Unglesbee Sapp of Cobbtown, Georgia; two sons, Raymond “Ray” M. Sapp and his wife, Doris, of Savannah, and Robert “Bobby” L. Sapp of Richmond Hill; one brother, Harry Sapp and his wife, Willamae, of Cobbtown, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Wednesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock Thursday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Samuel W. Watkins. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey - East.

H. McArthur “Mac” Southwell, age 65

H. McArthur “Mac” Southwell, age 65, of Reidsville died at Ft. Stewart, Georgia, on October 20, 2009, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on the military reservation. He was born in Tattnall County, Georgia, on February 6, 1944, the son of William Herbert Southwell and Elizabeth McArthur Southwell. His maternal grandparents were Malcolm Dwight McArthur and Mabel Tietgen McArthur of Tattnall County; his paternal grandparents were Carlton Southwell and Janie Burge Southwell of Cordele. He was a graduate of Reidsville High School and of Valdosta Technical School as a Machinist. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict where he served in the 205th Ordnance Platoon (Ammo) near Pleiku in the central highlands. Except for the time that he was away for military service or attending school, he was a lifelong resident of Tattnall County. He was exceptionally generous and was always concerned about the welfare of others. Mac had many friends from all walks of life. He was an outdoorsman who loved plants and animals, automobiles, and tools. Mac was a Life Member of the Ohoopee Mayflower Club. Since 1982, he had been an employee of the Auto Craft Shop at Ft. Stewart where he guided or instructed military members in the repair of their personal vehicles. When those military members were deployed, he helped their spouses to maintain their vehicles. He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents.
He is survived by a daughter, Devan Rogni Southwell of Reidsville; a son, Robert Southwell of Soperton; a sister, Ann Morris Carswell of Reidsville; a brother, Johnny William Southwell of Macon; two grandsons, Robert Cameron Southwell and Damien Southwell of Hinesville; a niece, Teresa Carswell Howard of Reidsville; and many friends.
Pallbearers were Johnny Shuman, Tommy Wallace, John Conley, Leland McCall, Horace Waters, Brett Kennedy, Jack Hill, Louie Smith Jr., Stevie Smith, Jackie Trim, Howard Stanley, Ronnie McCall, Louie Tietgen Smith, and John Sanders.
Graveside services were conducted on Sunday, October 25, at the Joyce - McArthur Family cemetery at 5830 Old River Road in Tattnall County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pearson’s Chapel United Methodist Church, which his family helped to organize in 1868. Donations may be mailed in care of the church treasurer, William H. Carswell, 5830 Old River Road, Reidsville, Georgia 30453 - 7421.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home of Reidsville served the Southwell Family.
