Megan Justine Emerick, 20

Miss Megan Justine Emerick, age 20, of 139 Timerlock Drive, Vidalia, died Saturday July 24, in the Doctors Hospital of Augusta, of injuries received some three weeks ago. Megan was a native and lifelong resident of Vidalia and was a student at Southeastern College in Swainsboro and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Vidalia.
Megan is survived by her parents, Tony and Karen Emerick of Vidalia, one sister, Teneille Emerick of Vidalia, one brother, Skylar Emerick of Vidalia, her maternal grandfather, Keith Perkins of Lyons, paternal grandparents, Jack and Ellen Emerick of Hudson, IN.
Funeral Service for Miss Megan Justine Emerick will be conducted Thursday afternoon July 29, at 2:00 from the Stewart Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Reverend Bill Vansant, Reverend Michael Plowman and Dottie Hutcheson officiating.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery. The family will assemble at the family residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
Stewart Funeral Service of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.

Linvard “Jeff” Jeffers, 74

Mr. Linvard “Jeff” Jeffers, age 74, of 801 East 4th St., Vidalia, died Saturday, July 24 at his residence after an extended illness. Jeff was a native of Tattnall County and had worked in the garment manufacturing business in Augusta, GA, for years and had lived in Vidalia for the past many years. Jeff was an avid guitar player and country and western singer, entertaining in various places for many years. He was Baptist by faith. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Willie Jeffers, one brother John Jeffers and one sister, Yvonne Spivey.
Jeff is survived by one brother, Doy Jeffers of Byron, one sister, Hazel McCall of Loganville and several nieces and nephews.
There are no services scheduled for Mr. Linvard “Jeff” Jeffers, but the family would like to acknowledge and thank Alan Morris for his long time friendship and support to Jeff in his time of poor health.
Stewart Funeral Service of Vidalia is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Joy Bowling Peters, 66

Joy Bowling Peters, age 66 passed away Wednesday July 21, 2010 at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia. The Ohio native had lived in Reidsville the past nine years. She was a homemaker who loved to read and was a member of the Reidsville United Methodist Church. Ms. Peters is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Peters, and brothers, Leonard and Charlie Bowling.
She is survived by her sons, Chad Peters of Reidsville, Terry Huff of New York, Eddie Nickell and Danny Peters, both of Ohio; brothers, Abe Bowling and Stanley Bowling of Ohio; a sister, Eva McComb of Mississippi; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted Sunday July 25, 2010, from Fairview cemetery in Berea, KY.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Kamiryn Eve “Kami” Boyles, age 8

Kamiryn Eve “Kami” Boyles, age 8, died Monday, July 12, 2010, at her residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. She was born in Brunswick and had lived in Jesup for the past three years. She loved music and art and was an inspiration to all she met. She was baptized into the Episcopalian Church.
Surviving are her parents, Kevin and Crissy Boyles of Jesup; a brother, Brody Boyles of Jesup; maternal grandparents, Bunny Sellers of Jesup and Joe and Belinda Williams of Brunswick; paternal grandparents, Joe and Sandy Williams of Covington and Bob Boyles of Jesup; maternal great - grandparents, Florence Abele of Swan Quarter, NC, and Judy Womack of Brunswick; an aunt, Kandie Gibbs of Brunswick and an uncle, Ray Boyles of Jesup; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, 2010, from the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with Rev. Jim Lupton officiating.
Entombment followed at the Chapel Park cemetery in Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Kami’s memory to the Ronald McDonald House, 818 Fulton St. Southeast, Minneapolis, MN 55414.

Douglas John Pfluger, 67

Douglas John Pfluger, 67, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010. The New York native had lived in Reidsville for the past year and half. He was retired from the New York Department of Corrections with 27 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was of the Catholic Faith.
He is survived by his daughter, Beth Ann Pfluger of New York; brothers, John Pfluger and Thomas Pfluger, both of Reidsville, and Richard Pfluger and Robert Pfluger, both of New York; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, 2010, at Georgia Veterans Memorial cemetery with Military Honors.

Margaret A. “Peggy” Powell, 72

Mrs. Margaret A. “Peggy” Powell, 72, of Reidsville, died July 11, 2010, under the care of Community Hospice of Vidalia after a short illness. She was a native of Havrede Grace, MD, and served in the United States Air Force. Mrs. Powell graduated from college with a degree in Criminal Justice, and was retired from Plant Hatch as a security officer. At the time of death, she was employed by Terri’s Kennel, Inc. of Lyons and attended Lyons First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, V.O. Powell, and son, John B. Powell.
Mrs. Powell is survived by one daughter; Anne VanZandt of Post Falls, ID; two granddaughters, Christi Sadley of Wilmington Island and Jessica VanZandt of Post Falls, ID; three grandsons, Gary Grooms, Ryan and Tyler VanZandt of Post Falls; seven great - grandchildren; her mother, Eleanor Pitcock; one brother; Edward Pitcock and one sister; Joann Johnson, all of CA.
Memorial services for Mrs. Margaret A. “Peggy” Powell were held Saturday, July 17, 2010, from the Lyons First United Methodist Church, with military honors. Reverend Barry Giddens officiated.

M. Francis Stubbs, 67

M. Francis Stubbs, 67, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010. He was born in Glennville, GA, to H.C. and Danella Stubbs. He was a native of Tattnall County residing in Reidsville. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, an attorney graduating from Mercer University School of Law, a member of the Jaycees and a cattleman. He was an avid hunter, a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Flint River Hunting Club, N.R.A, Q.D.M.A and North American Sheep Foundation. He was a member of Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Janelle Stubbs Durrence and uncle and aunt, Pratt and Alma Bacon.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara E. Stubbs of Reidsville, GA; sons and daughter - in - law, Beau and Alexandra Stubbs of Summerton, SC, and Zach Stubbs of Statesboro, GA; sisters and brother - in - law, Mary Alice Branan of Macon and Lucy and Bob Forrest of Poquoson, VA; brothers and sisters - in - law, Cliff and Joyce Stubbs of Glennville, and Dan and Winnie Stubbs of Waynesboro, VA; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Glennville, with Elder W.H. Durrence and Elder Jim Bowen officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Audie Clemens, Sam Kennedy, Tim McCraine, Anthony Mosley, Edward Dasher and Keith Blasingame. Honorary pallbearers were David Lewis, Barron Mosley, Bev Clemons, Bobby Fields, Mike Gillam, Greg Tidwell, Steve Vaughn and Deacons of Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

Joseph Levi Wilds, 37

Joseph Levi Wilds, 37, of Daisy died Monday, June 28, 2010, at his home of heart disease. The Savannah native had lived in Collins before moving to Daisy six years ago. He was a former construction worker, an avid fisherman and movie enthusiast. Joseph was a kind, humble, compassionate son who gave day to day loving care to his mother for all his brothers and sisters. He was a doting uncle to his niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Jennings Wilds Sr. and a brother, Bradley Dale Wilds.
Survivors are his mother, Emily Wilds of Daisy; two brothers and a sister - in - law, Harold “Jay” Wilds of Daisy and William “Chris” and Donna Wilds of Rincon; three sisters and brothers - in - law, Brandy and Thornton Barrow of Savannah, Penny and Gary Douglas of Savannah and Nora “Beth” Wilds of Statesville, NC; niece and nephews, Daniel, Kevin, Kandace, Zach, Brandon, Ronald and Doug.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Rev. Daniel Mosley officiating. Burial followed in the Anderson Church cemetery near Collins. Pallbearers were Kevin Douglas, Zach Douglas, Brandon Ellis, Ronald Ellis, Gary Douglas and Thornton Barrow. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Jay and Chris Wilds.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Infant Gabriella Kate Williams

Infant Gabriella Kate Williams died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Satilla Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Mikel Durrence and her paternal great grandparents, Marion and Mavis Harris.
Survivors include her parents, Jeff and Amanda Durrence Williams of Waycross; her maternal grandmother, Alice Ferrel of Blackshear; her paternal grandparents, Sandi and Scott Hoyle of Jesup, and Jeff Williams Sr. and Suzette Leggett of Baxley, and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.
A memorial service was held Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Music Funeral Home Chapel with internment following in the Lake Chapel cemetery in Appling County.

Ann Lynne Blair, 67

Ann Lynne Blair age 67 passed away Monday, June 28, 2010, at Tattnall Health Care Center in Reidsville under the care of United Hospice. The Pennsylvania native had lived in Savannah many years, prior to moving to Reidsville two years ago. She was a hair stylist and a secretary. She loved to exercise and watch comedies on TV. She was of the Catholic Faith.
She is survived by her brother, William Burtholmew Williams of Michigan; and close friends, Harold and Bertha Williams and Betty Long, all of Savannah
Private interment will be held at the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, Reidsville Chapel, served the Blair family.
