Joni Woods Futrill
Mrs. Joni Woods Futrill, 51, of Columbia, South Carolina, died Tuesday, December 30.
Mrs. Futrill was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was a school teacher.

Survivors include her husband, John Futrill, step - son, Gage Futrill, Swainsboro; parents, Clyde and Jan Crosby Short; and siblings.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 3, with the Rev. Mark Hardin officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery, Emanuel County.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Mary Lou Mixon
Mrs. Mary Lou Mixon, age 85 of Soperton went to be with her heavenly father, January 11th, 2009 at the Treutlen County Nursing Home in Soperton, GA.
Mrs. Mary Lou was born May 27th, 1923 in Soperton, GA where she lived most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Cora Phillips Braddy and George Braddy, Sr.; and was the widow of Lamar Wesley Mixon. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Soperton.

Mrs. Mary Lou will be remembered as a caring friend to all who knew her and was a loving mother, grandmother and great - grandmother to her family. She will be sadly missed by all.

Her survivors are daughter Sonja Oliver and son - in - law Robert G. Oliver of Macon, GA, her granddaughter Tina Oliver and her friend, Tripp Nobles both of Macon, grandson Wesley Oliver, three great - grandchildren Elizabeth Oliver, Austin Oliver and Alexandra Fountain all of Macon, GA. One brother Malcom Braddy and one sister Alma Martin both of Soperton, GA. And a special niece, Wynoka Holton of Soperton who’s thoughts and prayers have blessed us all.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14 in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with the Reverend Donny Crosby officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Ronald Holton, Sr.
Mr. Jack Ronald Holton, Sr., 70 of Soperton died Friday, January 16.
Mr. Holton was a lifelong resident of Soperton and was preceded in death by his parents, Pierce and Bertchie Holton, sisters, Annette Phillips and LaNell Peebles. He was married to the late Grace Sconyers Holton. He was retired from Roadway Express Truck Lines, and a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church, Treutlen County, where he served as a faithful Deacon.

Survivors include three sons, Doug (Cindy) Holton, Ronnie Jr., (Carla) Holton, and Steven Holton, all of Soperton; daughter, Lisa (Robbie) Byrd, Soperton; a sister, Glynece Lumley, Soperton; brother, Billy Holton, Soperton; grandchildren, Allison, Drew, Jordie, and Danielle Holton, Hunter, Trevor and Josh Byrd, Cole and Megan Waters.

Services will be conducted in Boiling Springs Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Monday, January 19, with Rev. H. G. Ridgdill, Rev. Reland Morgan, and Tommy Corbin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Sammons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m., and may be reached at the home of Lisa and Robbie Byrd, 215 Central Drive, Soperton.

Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to Boiling Springs Baptist Church, c/o Mrs. Maxanne Woolf, 13259 Hwy. #86, Soperton.

Carlton Clements
Mr. Carlton Clements, 71 of Soperton, died Saturday, January 10, 2009.
Mr. Clements was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County and was preceded in death by his parents, George Everett and Beatrice Livingston Clements; his wife Betty Louise Hartley Clements; a brother, Walter Clements; and a sister, Martha Clements. He served in the United States Army and Reserves and was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter - in - law, Sonny and Leta Clements and Jimmy Ray Clements, both of Soperton; two daughters and sons - in - law, Regina and Alton Lampp, of Soperton, and Karen and Larry Swinson, of Glenwood; two sisters, Evie Jo Harrell, of Soperton, and Helen Adams, of Stockbridge; two brothers, Stanley Clements, of Marion, Arkansas, and Keith Clements, of Soperton; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great - grandchildren.

Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12 in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home.

Burial: Rosemont Baptist Church Cemetery, Treutlen County.

Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Rev. Felton Johnson
Rev. Felton Johnson, 84 of Soperton, died Tuesday, January 06, 2009.
Rev. Johnson was a native of Johnson County and was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lessie Powell Johnson and wife, Jewell Pons Johnson. He was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church where he served as pastor for thirty - eight years, and served in the US Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Johnson; two sons, Jimmy (Hazel) Johnson, Vidalia, Wayne (Angie) Hooks, Soperton; two daughters, Shirley Williams, Wrightsville, Tammy (Tony) Slade, Soperton; brother, Rev. Lester Johnson, Wrightsville; seven grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 8, with the Reverends Tommy Veal and Gary Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Gum Log Church Cemetery, Johnson County.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Leon Coolidge Meeks, Sr.
Mr. Leon Coolidge Meeks, Sr., 85, of Sylvester died Saturday, January 03, 2009, in Southern Care Assisted Living, Tifton, GA.
Mr. Meeks was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Riley and Jenny Ricks Meeks, a son, Philip Morris Meeks, Sr., and a brother, Kimble Meeks. He served in the US Army during World War II, and was the retired owner and operator of Meeks Auto Sales in Jacksonville, Fl., where he worked for twenty - eight years. He was a member of Terry Parker Baptist Church, Jacksonville.

Survivors include his wife of sixty - six years, Elizabeth Pearl Gillis Meeks; two sons, Leon Coolidge Meeks, Jr. (Candace), of Bonifay, Fl; Jerry Kenneth Meeks (Bess), Sylvester; grandchildren, Dr. Philip Meeks (Diane), Melanie Wagner (Greg), Daphnie Arant (Fletcher), Georgy Watts, Kaylee Meeks, Kami Meeks and Savannah Meeks; three step - grandchildren, Tina Neff (Don), Tabetha DuPriest (Raymond), John Dailey; nine great - grandchildren and six step - great grandchildren.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, with Dr. Danny V. Ray officiating. Burial will be in Thigpen Chapel Cemetery, Treutlen County.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Tillman Durden
Rev. Tillman E. Durden of Soperton died Wednesday, January 14.
Mr. Durden was born in Treutlen County and was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Lora Mae Phillips Durden, his wife of sixty years, Ruby Murlyne Thomas Durden, a brother, Ervin Durden, and son, Edward Durden. He was a Minister and Tile Setter and attended Calvary New Life Church, Soperton.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Durden and Jeff (Sonya) Durden, all of Soperton; three daughters, Teresa (Woody) Thomas and Regina (Dale) Long, Soperton, Tillyne Sammons, Statesboro; daughter - in - law, Betty Durden, Soperton; six sisters, Earlene Snowden, Lillie Henley and Adele Thomas of Big Sandy, TN, Lillian McGahee of Soperton, Jewell Odom and Betty Garner of Alabama; a brother, Larry Durden, Live Oak FL; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great - grandchildren.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday, January 16, with the Rev. Raymond Thomas and Larry Durden officiating. Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery, Montgomery County.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Matthew Sammons, Wesley Long, Michael Durden, David Durden, Benjamin Sammons and Shepherd Baldwin.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Douglas Lord
Mr. Douglas Lord, 72, of Adrian died Friday, February 13.
Mr. Lord was born in Johnson County and was a son of the late Alton and Mary Kersey Lord. He was a retired Diesel Mechanic, served in the United States Army, and a member and pianist of Garden of Prayer Assembly, Adrian.

Survivors include his wife, Avon Dickens Lord; daughters, Jan (Glen) Price, Wrightsville, and Donna (Mike) Ware, Soperton; sisters, Esterlene Dickens, Kite, Allie Dean Mason, Christine Rowland and Jeanette Frost all of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Ashley Price (Josh) Graham, East Dublin, Alan Ware and Lindsey Ware, both of Soperton; great - grandson, Kaden Graham, East Dublin.

Services will be held in Garden of Prayer Assembly, Adrian at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, February 16, with the Reverends Ashley Way and Bobby Miller officiating. Burial will be in Pullen Cemetery, Kite.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, February 15, at Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton.

Billy Dudley
Mr. Billy C. Dudley, 73 of Adrian, died Thursday, February, 12, 2009.
Mr. Dudley was born in Laurens County and was preceded in death by his parents, Slayton and Mary Lou Jones Dudley; and two brothers, Bobby and Charles Dudley. He was retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base and was a former Johnson County Commissioner.

Survivors include a son, Dale Dudley, of Adrian; a daughter and son - in - law, Kellie and Andy Sellers, of Rentz; a sister, Betty Marina, of Adrian; a brother, Jerry Dudley, of Adrian; 4 grandchildren, Nikki Bass, Crickett Yawn, Kyle Dudley and Shellie Sellers; and 3 great - grandchildren, Christa, Autumn and Blake Bass; and one expected great - grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14, in Graham Memorial Church of the Nazarene, Laurens County. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. The Reverends Gerald Parmer and James Covington will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be Gene Dudley, Allen Dudley, Bryan Marina, Greg Reece, John Sellers, Greg Sellers, Homer Garnto, and Robert Marina.

Current and former County Commissioners of Johnson County will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sammons Funeral Home.

Trudie Hutcheson
Trudie Hutcheson, 84, of Lyons died Saturday, January 31.
Miss Hutcheson was born in Treutlen County and was a daughter of the late Jim and Mary Foskey Hutcheson. She was of the Advent Christian faith.

Survivors include a son, Wayne Hutcheson, Lyons; sisters, Christine Hutcheson, Vidalia, Bonnie Haven, Gainesville, FL; nephews, Murray and Jerry Barwick, both of Soperton.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, with Gene Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Hutcheson Cemetery, Treutlen County.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Alberta M. Eaton
Mrs. Alberta M. Eaton, of Vidalia, died Monday, February 2, 2009.
Mrs. Eaton was born in Treutlen County and was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Claire Wheeler McCoy. She was a Supervisor for Savannah Luggage, Vidalia and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Lyons.

Survivors include her husband, Rex Eaton; two sons, Jerry Willis, of Vidalia and James Willis, of Savannah, Tennessee; a daughter, Donna Willis, of Vidalia; two sisters, Juanita Collins, of Tarrytown and Orita Coleman, of Glenwood; two brothers, Cecil and James McCoy, both of Vidalia; 6 grandchildren; and 4 step - grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4 in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, Soperton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jeannette Powell Marlowe
Mrs. Jeannette Powell Marlowe, 69, of Soperton died Thursday, February 5.
Mrs. Marlowe was born in Toombs County and was a daughter of the late William Grady and Onie Zell Grizzard Powell. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church, Treutlen County.

Survivors include Hubert Graham; two sons, James Teruel and Willie Powell, Soperton; two daughters, Dorothy Love, Soperton, Maria Sanchez, Miami, FL; two sisters, Doris Jones, Dublin, Genie Womack, Tennell; a brother, M. E. Powell, Soperton; nineteen grandchildren and several great - grandchildren.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Soperton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
