Mr. James Williams (Jimmy) Ambrose, Jr., 52, died suddenly Monday morning (Feb. 25, 2002) at his residence in Waycross.
He is a native of Chatham County, but he has resided most of his life in Waycross except during his 22 years of service with the United States Navy. He was Chief Petty Officer, High Seasman for the U.S. Submarine Force. He was also a owner/operator in the trucking industry. He received the following awards during his service with the Navy: Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Acheivement Medal, Good Conduct with 4 Bronze Stars, Sea Service Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Expert Rifleman Medal, Navy Arctic Service Ribbon, Enlisted Submarine Breast Insignia, Strategic Deterent Patrol Pin with 1 Bronze Star, and a Consulant Letter of Commendation.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Ambrose of Waycross; father and mother, James W. Ambrose, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Douglas Ambrose of Waycross; two sons, James Keith Ambrose of Waycross, and William Kelly Nelson of Norfolk, VA (engaged in Operation Freedom in Afghanistan); two daughters, Kimberly Nelson and Alitia Dawn both of Waycross; three grandchildren, James Layne Ambrose, Julia Elizabeth Ambrose, and Sally Rae; one brother, David Ambrose of Waycross; one sister, Annette Tatum of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m Saturday (Mar. 2, 2002) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Foundation.

Susie K. Beck

Mrs. Susie K. Beck, 75, died Sunday (March 17, 2002) in the Townhouse in Bainbridge following a short illness.
She was a native of Brantley County and was a lifelong resident of Ware County. She was maried to the late James M. Beck, Jr. and was daughter of the late Willie King and Vertie Johns King.
Mrs. Beck was a retired teacher with the Ware County School System. She retired in 1985 and formerly taught at Emerson Park, Memorial Drive and Woodard Godwin. She was member of Central Baptist Church, the Faith Sunday School Class, Merry Makers, Sojourners of Winona Park United Methodist Church, Ware County Retired Teachers Association, a charter member of the Ware County Credit Union Association and past president of the Ware County Exchangettes.
The survivors include a daughter, Betty Sue Rayburn of Griffin; a son, James M. Beck, III of Bainbridge; a sister, Thelma Dubose of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sister-in-laws, Elma King of Nahunta, Helen King of Flowery Branch; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Central Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Tuesday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Joseph W. Bennett
August 09, 1933 - March 25, 2002

Mr. Joseph W. Bennett, 68, died Monday (March 25, 2002) night at residence following an extended illness.
He was a native of Ware County and had resided in Ware County most of his life. He was son of the late Joe Brown Bennett and Loree Powers Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was retired from the U.S. Air Force and also retired from American General Insurance Company. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Waycross Shrine Club and a masonic lodge in California.
The survivors include his wife, Betty Edenfield Bennett of Waycross; a son, Steven Brown Bennett of Atlanta; two sisters, Pearl Dean of Richland, South Carolina, Frances Bennett of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel.

McLoy Bennett
March 19, 1911 - May 18, 2002

Mr. McLoy Bennett, 91, died Saturday (May 18, 2002) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
He was a native of Ware County and had resided most of his life in Ware County. He was son of the late Ezra Bennett and Rachel Tuten Bennett.
He was a retired self employeed bee keeper and business man. Mr. Bennett was a member of First Baptist Church.
The survivors include his wife, Helen King Bennett of Waycross; three daughters, Connie Wheeler of Alma, Marie Phillips of Blakely, Linda Wilbor of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sons, Loy Woodrow Bennett of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., Carrol L. Bennett of Fairmount; two sisters, Pauline Grover of Waycross, and Virginia Bennett of Waycross; two brothers, Knobby Bennett and John Bennett of Waycross; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Sunday night from 7 until 9 o'clock.

Vivian Adell Bennett

Mrs. Vivian Adell Bennett, 64, died Saturday morning (May 25,2002) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a lenghty illness.
She was retired with King Edward Cigar.
She was a native of Brantley County and the daughter of the late Jesse Moore and Lillie Griffis Moore. She was also preceeded in death by a daughter Marcell Bennett Lee.
She is survived by two daughter, Lottie Hendrix of Nahunta, and Diane Mathis of Blackshear; two sons, Leonard Bennett,Jr. of St. Simons, and Jesse Trull of Hoboken; one sister, Virgina Hanchey of Hoboken; one brother, Charles Moore of Hoboken; nine grandchildren; and one great grandson.
A service is planned for 12 noon Monday (May 27, 2002) in the Hoboken Baptist Church. Burial will be held in the Hoboken Cemetery
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 o'clock Sunday evening at Music Funeral Home in Waycross.

Mr. Wallace S. Anderson, 66, died Friday (May 24, 2002) night at Satilla Regional Medical Center following a long illness.
He was a native of Alma but had resided in Waycross most of his life. He was son of the late Wailey Anderson and Irene Medders Anderson.
He was retired from the U. S. Air Force, U. S. Postal Service and Mock Drilling Company. Mr. Anderson was a member of Zenith Baptist Church.
The survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mary Lou Ferrell Anderson of Waycross; a daughter, Beth Dowling (husband Terry) of Manor; four sons, Dr. Steve Anderson (wife Carole) of Douglas, Bubba Anderson (wife Rhonda), Shan Anderson (wife Terry), and Scott Anderson (wife Gina) all of Waycross; two sisters, Mary Bruner (husband Gerald) of Blakely, Jan Beach (husband John) of Waycross; two brothers, P. W. Anderson, Wayne Anderson (wife Mary Ann) both of Waycross; 13 grandchildren, Toby Dowling, Shan Strickland, Abbie Vickers, Ansley Anderson, Ariel Anderson, Josh Anderson, Cole Anderson, Corey Beverly, Blake Beverly, Brittany Anderson, Courtney Anderson, Erica Anderson, and Brock Thomas Anderson; four great grandchildren, Coby Dowling, Katie Beth Strickland, Kensley Faith Vickers, and Drew Dowling; a sister-in-law, Barbara Smith (husband Wayne) of Lyons; and a brother-in-law, Steve Ferrell (wife Gerry ) of Rockford, Tennessee.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Zenith Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeal home Sunday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Rev. Jack E. Barber, Sr.,79,died Friday ( June 6, 2002) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was retired Fire Chief Emeritus with the City of Waycross with 43 years of service. He was also a retired ordained minister in the Church of God serving at the Nahunta Church of God, Genoa Street Church of God, North Waycross Church of God, South Valdosta Church of God.
He was a veteran of WWII serving in the 94th Infantry Division 3rd Army, he received 2 broze stars for value of service.
He was a member of the Brunel Street Church of God.
He was a native and life long resident of Waycross and the son of the late Rev. W.L. Barber,Sr. and Hildred Smith Barber.
He is survived by his wife; Latrell Harden Barber of Waycross, a daughter Margaret Elizabeth Barber Foerman of Atlanta, three sons; Jack E. Barber,Jr. of Birmingham,AL., John S. Barber of Waycross, Jeffery L. Barber of Los Angeles,CA., a sister Joann Parham husband Bobby of Waycross, six grandchildren Andrea Harris,Stephanie Foerman, Denise Ellis, Chuck Foerman, John Wesley Barber, Kristie Barber, four great grandchildren.
A service is planned for 2:00 pm Monday at Brunel Street Church of God. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 8pm o'clock Sunday evening at Music Funeral Home

Mrs. Victoria Helen Cox Johnson, 77, died Sunday morning (December 22, 2002) at Baptist Village following a short illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was married to the late Herman Johnson, Jr. and was a daughter of the late Thomas Cyler Cox and Pearl Minchew Cox. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
The survivors include a son, Roger Johnson (wife Mary) of Waycross; a granddaughter, Marsha Thomas (husband Jim) of Waycross; a great granddaughter, Jamie Thomas of Waycross; five sisters, Viola Cox, Gertrude Thrift, Vesta Guy, Iva Lee Lewis and Bessie Thrift all of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Clifton Ralph Taylor
November 24, 1956 - December 25, 2002

Mr. Clifton Ralph Taylor, 46, died suddenly Wednesday (December 25, 2002) at his residence.
He was a native of Germany but had resided in Waycross for almost ten years. His father was the late Ralph Taylor. He was an employee of Mack Deen Enterprise.
The survivors include his great friends, Mack Deen (wife Debra), Kandi Deen, Matt Deen, McKenzie Deloach and Kidd Deen all of Waycross; and many other friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday night from 7 until 9 o'clock.

Elder Joseph R. Ruth
April 09, 1923 - December 23, 2002

Elder Joseph R. Ruth, 79, died Monday morning (Dec. 23, 2002) at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL, after an extended illness.
He was born April 9, 1923, in Millwood to the late Joseph Reppard Ruth and Minnie Hargrave Ruth. He was preceded in death by a sister, Francis Brickle and brother, Willie Ruth. He also attended the Millwood School. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He married his wife, Linnie M. Brenson on September 2, 1947.
He was born again in 1952 to the Jesus Only Pentecostal Apostolic faith. He was baptized in Jesus' name, filled with the Holy Ghost, and lived a dedicated life unto God. He went on to become the assistant pastor and pastor of Jesus Only Apostolic Church where he touched many lives.
In 1987, he and his wife, Linnie moved to Waycross and became dedicated members of the Calvary United Pentecostal Church, where he was assistant pastor for many years. He was faithful until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 55 years, Linnie Ruth of Waycross; an adopted son, Dr. Joseph Berra of South India; a sister, Violet Pearson of Millwood; a brother, Jimmy Ruth of Ashtabula, OH; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was also a spiritual father to many, many children.
A homegoing celebration will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday (Dec. 27, 2002) at Calvary United Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home.
