MRS. MARGUERITE BUTLER SCHULER

Mrs. Marguerite Butler Schuler, 90, of Rome died March 6, 1997 in Rome.

Born. Feb. 1, 1907 in Fulton County, Mrs. Schuler was the daughter of the late William M. and Maggie Pierce Butler and the widow of George W. Schuler. She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert Lee Schuler and Andrew Pierce Schuler.

Mrs. Schuler was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rome and a former member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Senoia.

Funeral services were held March 8 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Wood and the Rev. Jim Elliott officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Lucille Cobb of Rome; sons, John Alfred Schuler, William Thomas Schuler, Felton Hugh Schuler, all of Haralson, George Edward Schuler of Danridge, Tenn., Henry Grady Schuler of Longwood, Fla., and Franklin Roosevelt Schuler of Winter Garden, Fla.; sisters, Mallory McMichael of Rome, Maggie Strickland of Griffin; brothers, William Butler of Newnan, Jim Butler of Fayetteville; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MR. JERRY WAYNE SMITH JR.

Mr. Jerry Wayne Smith Jr., 7, of Newnan died March 8, 1997 at Egleston Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. Smith was a student at Jefferson Parkway Elementary School and a member of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lester R. Plott.

Funeral services were held March 11 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Cole officiating. Interment followed at the Grantville cemetery with Joseph T. Smith Jr., Tony Billes, Franklin Reece and Jerry W. Smith Sr. serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his parents, Jerry Wayne Smith Sr. and Mary Delores Smith of Newnan; grandmothers, Doris Plott of Leesburg, Ala., Mary Reece of Grantville; and sisters, Michelle Marques of Waco and Donna Pat Smith of Marietta.

MRS. OLA MAE HALL TRUITT

Mrs. Ola Mae Hall Truitt, 75, of Westgate Park Court in Newnan passed away March 6, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Nov. 1, 1921 in Coweta County, Mrs. Truitt was a member of Evergreen United methodist Church and later attended Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held March 11 at Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.T. Coleman officiating. Interment followed at Eastview cemetery with Willie Love, Bobby Mitchell, Richard Reed, William Dodds, Charlie Johnson, James S. Hall, Jackie Berry, Robert Woods and Walter Powell serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her children, Carolyn B. Cook, Marion Bohannon, both of Newnan, Glenda Spearman, Robert L. Bohannon, both of Atlanta; mother-in-law, Frances Truitt; sisters-in-law; son-in-law; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MRS. NORMA JEAN WHISENHUNT BROWN

Mrs. Norma Jean Whisenhunt Brown, 47, of Panama City, Fla., died Feb. 21, 1997 at her home.

Born May 8, 1949 in Coweta County, Mrs. Whisenhunt was the daughter of the late Wayne and Eunice Whisenhunt.

Graveside services were held Feb. 23 at Forest Lawn cemetery with the Rev. Winfred King officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Brown; sons, Keith (Sylvia) Brown, Mike (Mary Ann) Brown, all of Panama City; daughter, Tammy (John) Manning of Katy, Texas; sisters, Myrna (William) Green of Carrollton, Cookie (Guy) Helton of Hogansville, Hazel (Lamar) Burks of Grantville, Vassie (J.W.) Roberts of LaGrange; brothers, Wayne Adam Whisenhunt of Carrollton, Hoyte Whisenhunt of Sandersville; grandchildren, Shanie Brown of Panama City, Jerry Hicks of Katy; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

MR. JAMES LAMAR CARMICAL

Mr. James Lamar Carmical, 74, of Marietta died March 3, 1997 at Starcrest of Newnan.

Born Feb. 1, 1923 in Moreland, Mr. Carmical was the son of the late Patrick A. and Linda (Spratling) Carmical. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a clerk with Kroger.

Graveside services were held March 6 at Southview cemetery in Moreland with the Rev. Jerry Eley officiating.

Survivors include his brothers, Kenneth Carmical of Marietta, Jerry Carmical of LaGrange, Roger Carmical of Woodland, Charles Carmical of Moreland; nieces and nephews.

MRS. MILDRED M. DUKES

Mrs. Mildred M. Dukes, 85, passed away Feb. 16, 1997.

Born in Wadley, Ala., Mrs. Dukes was the widow of Arthur L. Dukes Sr. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Dukes, and a grandson, Arthur L. Dukes III. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church in East Point.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on March 8 (today) at Westview cemetery Chapel in Atlanta.

Survivors include her sons, Art Dukes of Riverdale, Coleman Dukes of Fair Oaks, Calif.; granddaughters, Robin Brown of Madison, Wis., Lisa Bridges of Jonesboro, Suzanne Dukes of Sacramento, Calf.; and grandson, Scott Dukes of Roseville, Calif.

Ms. Helen Echols, 60, of Palmetto passed away March 1, 1997 at South Fulton Medical Center in East Point.

Born Sept. 2, 1936 in Coweta County, Ms. Echols was a member of Rivertown Methodist Church in Palmetto.

Funeral services were held March 5 at St. John Baptist Church in Shenandoah with the Rev. W.J. Clark officiating, assisted by the Rev. John Farmer, the Rev. Roger Stegall and the Rev. Alvin Knox.

Interment followed at Eastview cemetery with Gerrard Echols, Marcellous Ware, Neil Carter, James W. Knox and Eugene Ware serving as pallbearers.

MR. ERIC JERMAINE FAVORS

Mr. Eric Jermaine Favors, 20, of Hill Street in Newnan passed away March 1, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born Oct. 27, 1976, Mr. Favors lived most of his life in Newnan, attending school in Newnan and Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruby Favors.

Funeral services were held March 6 at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Dana Graham officiating. Interment followed at Eastview cemetery with Cedric Warner, Cedric White, Clarence Herndon, Anthony Herndon, Michael Smith and Dewayne White serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his mother, Ruby Ann "Darby" Favors; father, Barry Teagle; grandparents, Lemmie and Catherine Teagle; uncles, Carlton Hayes of Salem, Ore., Robert Charles "Baby Brother" Favors of Newnan, Dujuan "Sonny" Favors of Philadelphia, Penn.; and cousins.

MR. BOBBY DON PAYTON

Mr. Bobby Don Payton, 39, of Roopville died Feb. 24, 1997 at his home.

Born Oct. 22, 1957 in Carrollton, Mr. Payton was a district manager for Subway restaurants.

Funeral services were held Feb. 28 at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin with the Rev. Bo Herndon officiating. Interment followed at Veal cemetery with Randy Tucker, Don Evans, Phil Nicholl, J.R. Hackney, Donald Shelnutt and Richard Head serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his mother, Patsy Karen Whitehead of Roopville; sisters, Nicki Hackney of Roopville, Susan Nelson, Julie Smith, both of Bowdon, Jamie Nash of Douglasville; maternal grandmother, Gertrude Pate of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

MR. MELVIN JEROME RAY

Mr. Melvin Jerome Ray, 44, of Atlanta passed away March 1, 1997 at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Born March 2, 1952 in Coweta County, Mr. Ray was the son of the late Bennett and Irma Ray. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held March 5 at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Rufus Smith and the Rev, Melvin Henry officiating, assisted by the Rev. Coleman Hayes.

Interment followed at the church cemetery with his nephews serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his daughter, Cynara Ray, brothers, C.L. Ray, Bennett Ray, Jr., Danny Ray; sisters, Shirley "Susie," Helen, Mary; sisters-in-law, Christine, Fannie, Rose; brothers-in-law, the Rev. Melvin Henry, George Henry; aunts; nieces and nephews.

MRS. CATHERINE LYNN REDA

Mrs. Catherine Lynn Reda, 52, of Lawshe Road in Senoia died March 4, 1997 at IHS of Atlanta at Buckhead.

Born April 29, 1944 in Staten Island, N.Y., Mrs. Reda was the daughter of the late John and Frances Clark Spollen. She was an office manager for a construction company and a member of St. George Catholic Church.

Funeral services were held March 7 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home, with Father Leo Herbert officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey Reda of Senoia; children, Richard Reda of Grantville, Barbara Morrill of Newnan; sister, Maryanne Moral of Senoia; brothers, John Spollen of Charlotte, N.C., Lawrence Spollen of Sunrise, Fla.; and a grandchild.

MRS. ANNIE ADDIE VAUGHN

Mrs. Annie Addie Vaughn, 88, of Newnan died March 5, 1997 at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City.

Born Dec. 20, 1908 in Georgia, Mrs. Vaughn was the daughter of the late Morris Thomas Wright and Carrie (Grantham) Wright and the widow of Rupert Richard Vaughn. She was a homemaker and a retired textile worker and was a member of New Lebanon Baptist Church.

Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Orr.

Funeral services were held March 6 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Fleming officiating, assisted by the Rev. Tommy Wright. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Bobby Estep, Tim Brown, Roy Duncan, Clint K. Wade, Danny Perkins and Roy Wright serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sonny (Geneva) Barnes of Newnan; extended family, Mr. and Mrs. Clint K. Wade, Christopher Wade, Maggie Wade, all of Newnan; grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Bonnie) Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Rick (Joy) Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Tim (Patty) Brown, all of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Danny (Rhonda) Perkins of Griffin, Mr. and Mrs. Tony (Kim) Burnett of Senoia; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Southwest Christian Hospice or the Gideons.
