MRS. BETTY 'SUE' LITTLE

Mrs. Betty "Sue" Little, 63, of Villa Rica died Aug. 6, 1997 in Newnan.

Born June 20, 1924 in Carroll County, Mrs. Little was the daughter of the late Walter L. Barronton and Inez (Henry) Barronton and the widow of Paul Edward Little. She was a cashier at Wal-Mart and a member of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Henry officiating. Interment followed at Carroll Memory Gardens on Carrollton with Gary Barronton, Mark Barronton, Michael Barronton, Joseph Barronton, Tony William and James William serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her sons, Christopher Paul Little of Gray, T. Barron Little of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Casey Little, Carrie Little, both of Gray; and brother, Edwin L. Barronton of Newnan.

Memorial contributions can be made to West Georgia Medical Center, Attn.:: Newnan Hospice, 1514 Vermon Road, LaGrange, Ga., 30240.

MRS. LENA SHELNUTT ROBINSON

Mrs. Lena Shelnutt Robinson, 88, of Hogansville died Aug. 6, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born April 21, 1909 in Heard County, Mrs. Robinson was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shelnutt and the widow of William L. Robinson. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Milton Hall officiating. Interment followed at Corinth Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Lillie Kate Bailey of Phenix City, Ala.; sons, William L. Robinson Jr. of Fairburn, Donald Robinson of Hogansville; 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

MRS. ANNA TERESA WHITE

Mrs. Anna Teresa White, 51, of San Diego, Calif. died July 21, 1997.

Born Dec. 20, 1945, Mrs. White was the daughter of the late Walter E. White and Elizabeth (Gray) White. A 1968 graduate of Newnan High School, she was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marines.

She was attended law school at San Diego State University.

Graveside services were held at Oak Hill cemetery on Aug. 5.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, C. Regina (White) and Jimmy Hayes of Newnan; grandchildren, Jonathon S. Hayes, Audrey G. Hayes, both of Newnan; sisters, Brenda J. Sumlin of California, Delorse D. Bernabez of Rex; Diane D. Williams of Marietta; brothers, Douglas White of California, Michael E. White of East Point; uncles and aunts.

MR. CALVIN F. WHITE

Mr. Calvin F. White, 73, of East Broad Street in Newnan died Aug. 7, 1997 at Beaulieu Nursing Home.

Born Aug. 12, 1923 in New Orleans, La., Mr. White was the son of the late Gustave and Erma Churchill White. He was retired from Cox Newspapers and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with Ben Gross officiating. Interment followed at Andersonville National Cemetery.

Survivors include his sons, Glen White of Newnan, Larry White of Dacula; sisters, Dorothy Kennar of Newnan, Mae Rose Durrand of Pascagoula, Miss.; and brothers, Leonard White of Chamblee, Gus White, Henry White, Arthur White, all of of New Orleans and Warren White of Atlanta.

MISS THELMA WISE

Miss Thelma Wise, 82, of Lone Oak died Aug. 5, 1997 at Alvista Care Home in Greenville.

Born Aug. 20, 1914 in Lone Oak, Miss Wise was the daughter of the late Burrell and Arrie Spradlin Wise. She was a member of Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Lone Oak and was retired from the USDA Soil Conservation office in Phenix City, Ala.

Funeral services were held Aug. 7, at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Karl Hunter and the Rev. Dixie Cummings officiating. Interment followed at Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church with Pete Johnson, Donald Wise, Nathan Wise, Mark Kitchens, Joe Lee and Fred Willingham serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his sister, Elizabeth Parham of Lone Oak; nieces and nephews.

MRS. EVA CORNELIA JAMES WOODARD

Mrs. Eva Cornelia James Woodard of Sharpsburg died recently at Southland Nursing Home in Peachtree City.

Born in Coweta County, Mrs. Woodard was the daughter of the late John Will Pierce James and Eula Washington James and the widow of Robert Woodard Sr. She was a member of Pineview Baptist Church and a retired nurse.

Funeral services were held Aug. 3, 1997 at Pineview Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Thrift officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Tina Washington, Robin Camp, Shirley Dowd, Marsha Horne, Ronnie Abercrombie, Roy Abercrombie, Robbie Abercrombie; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; stepdaughter, Mary Lassiter of Barnesville; stepson, Robert Woodard Jr. of Barnesville; and brothers, Hugh James of Pembrook, Fla. and Jake James of Jonesboro.

MRS. MARTHA MILLIANS CLARK

Mrs. Martha Millians Clark, 80, of Newnan died Aug. 1, 1997 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Born Dec. 11, 1916 in Newnan, Mrs. Clark was the daughter of the late Jim and Lena (Luckie) Millians and the widow of Woodrow Clark. She was a member of Newnan Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker.

Funeral services were held Aug. 3 at McKoon Funeral Home with Dr. Harry Barrow officiating, assisted by Clay Henry. Interment followed at Oak Hill cemetery with Sam Millians, Steve Millians, Shane Proffit, Rick Chambers, Michael Chambers and Jody Clark serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gene (Ann) Gobel of Newnan; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James (Barbara) Millians of Newnan; grandchildren, Courtney Gobel, Gareth Gobel, Kyle Gobel, all of Newnan; and sisters-in-law, Mildred Chambers and Dorothy Clark, both of Newnan.

MR. ROY LEE COGGIN SR.

Mr. Roy Lee Coggin Sr., 88, of Providence Church Road in Newnan died Aug. 2, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Feb. 21, 1909 in Coweta County, Mr. Coggin was the son of the late O.M. Coggin and Luella Story. He was retired from the Peachtree City cemetery Department.

Mr. Coggin was a member of Sylvan Masonic Lodge #429.

Graveside services were held Aug. 4, 1997 at Oak Hill cemetery with the Rev. Harry Hollman officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Coggin of Newnan; sons, Robert W. and Millie Coggin, Joseph G. Coggin, Roy Lee and Annette Coggin Jr., all of Newnan; sister, Mable Hall of Newnan; sister-in-law, Eula Coggin of Newnan; brother, George "Asa" Coggin of Newnan; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church cemetery Fund.

MRS. RETHA M. HAMMETT

Mrs. Retha Mae Pike Hammett, 63, of Carrollton died Aug. 3, 1997 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Born July 17, 1934 in Heard County, Mrs. Hammett was the daughter of the late Walter Lewis Pike and Heflin Hortence Abner Pike. She worked for Sony Music in Carrollton and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services were held Aug. 5 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Williamson and Dr. Jimmy Brown officiating. Interment followed at Franklin Cemetery.

Survivors include her sons John W. Pike of Luthersville, Mark H. Hammett of LaGrange; daughters, Patricia Janney of Hogansville, Loretta Lawson of Whitesburg, Wanda Arwell of Davidson, N.C., Darlene Hammett of Carrollton; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

MR. WILBUR CARL HAYES

Mr. Wilbur Carl Hayes, 84, of Paducah, Kent. and formerly of Grantville died July 29, 1997 in Paducah.

Born Jan. 1, 1913 in Senoia, Mr. Hayes was the son of the late Venton W. Hayes and Clara Jordon Hayes. He was a member of Grantville First Baptist Church and a retired lead packer at General Mills.

Funeral services were held Aug. 1 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. D.L. Moody officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill cemetery with Tommy Campbell, Gary Hayes, John Hayes, Ricky Slaton, Michael Thacker and David Thacker serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his daughters, Frances Campbell of Paducah, Mary Carsey of Athens, Ohio, Becky Hayes of Independence, Mo., Nellie Jo Thacker of Newnan; sons, Carl Hayes of Independence, Wilbur Hayes Jr., Jerry Hayes and Larry Hayes, all of Newnan; brother, Roy Hayes of Devore, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

MR. WELBORN ORR

Mr. Welborn Orr, 89, of Newnan passed away July 28, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Oct. 6, 1907 in Coweta County, Mr. Orr was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Newnan.

Funeral services were held Aug. 2 at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Bartholomew Orr officiating, assisted by the Rev. Melvin D. Brittian Jr., the Rev. Clinton Melson, the Rev. Alton Maddox, the Rev. Willie V. Orr and the Rev. J.W. Russell Sr. Interment followed at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his children, Georgia Willie Williams of Columbus, Mary Francis Kendrick of Dayton, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Willie B. Orr, Leola Johnson, all of Newnan, Welborn Orr, Thomas Orr, Mr. and Mrs. Henton Orr, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Orr, Mr. and Mrs. Ira (Christyne) Turner Sr., Pearline Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Orr, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Orr, Dan Orr, all of Atlanta; sister-in-law, Annie Lou Calhoun of Chicago, Ill.; brother-in-law, Jesse Stegall of Newnan; 53 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
