MR. FORREST E. 'BUCK' SAUCIER JR.

Mr. Forrest E. "Buck" Saucier Jr., 71, of Hogansville died June 15, 1997 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Born Jan. 17, 1926 in Greenwood, Miss., Mr. Saucier was the son of the late Forrest and Aline Prudhomme Saucier. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Everest Saucier and William Louis Saucier.

A veteran of World War Two, he was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi.

Mr. Saucier has served as plant manager for George Evans Corporation in Hogansville and retired as plant manager for Daniel Radiator Company in Atlanta. He was a member and former administrative board member of First United Methodist Church in Hogansville, a former president of the Hogansville Kiwanis Club, and a former member of the Troup County Planning Commission.

Mr. Saucier was a former member of the Hogansville Development Authority and a former president of the Hogansville Chamber of Commerce.

Funeral services were held June 17 at First United Methodist Church in Hogansville with the Rev. Charles Ritter and the Rev. Kevin Lobello officiating.

Interment followed at the Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church cemetery with Rance Sprayberry, Emmett Williams, Ron Rush, Thomas W. Saucier, Dr. E.R. Leverett and Joe Saucier serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Burdette, Mildred Burdette, Hub Griffith, Willow Hiem, Wanda Lowe and Cherie Gonzalez.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Saucier of Hogansville; daughter and son-in-law, Shea and Doug Williams of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Loretta Saucier of Lone Oak, Keith Saucier of Hogansville; sisters, Evelyn Wicht, Mrs. Virgil McCann, Dorothy Light, all of Hattiesburg, Miss., Adele Litz of Seminary, Miss.; brother, P.V. Saucier of Hot Springs, Ark.; granddaughters, Amanda Anne Williams of Signal Mountain, Rachel Anne Saucier, Sarah Kay Saucier, both of Lone Oak; nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Hogansville youth fund or the American Parkinson's Disease Association.

MRS. KATIE SHINPAUGH

Mrs. Katie Shinpaugh of Franklin died June 13, 1997 at her home.

Funeral services were held June 16 at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fred White officiating. Interment followed at Holly Hill Memorial Park with Tony Samples, Jerry Marella, Eddie Collins, Mike Marella, Steve McCough and George Lawrence serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Lawrence of Union City, Carol Dean of Franklin, Nancy Marello of Franklin; sons, Silas Lawrence of Palmetto, Arnold Shinpaugh of Franklin; sister, Pearl Thompson of Dallas, Ga.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

MR. TONY WEST

Mr. Tony West of Newnan died June 13, 1997.

Funeral services were held June 17 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Shane Brown, Michael Roberts, Anthony Arrington, Ricky Arrington, Randy Lower and Michael Wilburn serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his father, Lloyd West of Newnan; mother, Mar. A. West of Newnan; grandmother, Alice Powers of Newnan; sister, Traci Lower of Newnan; niece, Holly Lower of Newnan and nephew, Joshua Lower of Newnan.

MR. ERIC GUNELLE HINES

Mr. Eric Gunelle Hines of Los Angeles, formerly of Newnan, passed away June 10, 1997 in Los Angeles. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Sellers-Smith Funeral Home.

MRS. BERTHA H. HOBBS

Mrs. Bertha H. Hobbs, 94, of Hogansville died June 12, 1997 at Hospice LaGrange.

Born June 5, 1903 in Carroll County, Mrs. Hobbs was the daughter of the late Enoch and Ida Camp Hendrix and the widow of J.D. Hobbs. She was a member of the Methodist faith and was retired from Callaway Mills in LaGrange.

Funeral services will be held June 14 (today) at 2 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. W.T. Bates officiating. Interment will follow in LaGrange.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Robert Lewis of Griffin; sons and daughters-in-law, Grover and Lorene Hobbs, B.R. Hobbs, all of Hogansville, Wallace Hobbs of Livingston, Texas, Mrs. Larry (Faye) Hobbs of Hogansville; sisters, Lydia Williams, Callie Morris, both of LaGrange; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

MRS. AMERINE TERRELL JOHNSON

Mrs. Amerine Terrell Johnson, 59, of Herring Road in Newnan passed away June 4, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born May 30, 1938, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Terrell and the widow of Matthew Johnson Sr. A son, Carl Johnson, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held June 7 from at Heard Wesley United Methodist Church in Franklin with the Rev. Frank Dean and the Rev. R.W. Sutton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Clinton Melson and the Rev. J.L. Hendrix.

Interment followed at the church cemetery with Shannon Terrell, Robert Echols, Freddie Cheeves, Mose Terrell, Cleophus Echols, Ricky Arnold, Danny Hill and Charlie Terrell Jr. serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her sons, Matthew Johnson Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Willie (Linda) Johnson, all of Newnan; sister, Louvenia Stokes; brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Dorothy) Terrell, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lee (Alva) Terrell, all of Newnan; uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan (Virginia) Terrell of Franklin; aunt, Jessie Mae Terrell of Atlanta; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews.

MRS. LILLIE INEZ LOFTIN

Mrs. Lillie Inez Loftin, 50, of Roopville died June 6, 1997 at her home.

Born Feb. 25, 1947 in Carroll County, Mrs. Loftin was the daughter of the late David Willie Stone. She was a homemaker and a member of Victory Road Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held June 8 at Victory Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Brown officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery with James Stewart, Charles Nixon, Dale Loftin, Bobby Loftin, Scott Loftin and Steve Loftin serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her husband, Willard Loftin of Roopville; sons Charles William Massengale of Carrollton, Jimmy Andrew Massengale of Temple; daughter, Renea Hope Haley of Bon Aire; mother, Nellie Warren Eason of Carrollton; brother, David Stone of Sherman, Texas; half-sister, Kathy Stone of Carrollton; half-brother, Jessie Bentley of Carrollton; step-mother, Nellie Stone of Carrollton; and four grandchildren.

MR. ERNEST DAVID 'PAP' SCARBROUGH

Mr. Earnest David "Pap" Scarbrough, 89, of south Fulton County died June 9, 1997 at South Fulton Medical Center.

Born March 10, 1908, Mr. Scarbrough was the son of the late Paul Francis and Lula Hudgins Scarbrough. He was preceded in death by a brother, Purlas G. Scarbrough, and a sister, Jewell Scarbrough.

Mr. Scarbrough was a member of Shadnor Baptist Church and the Men's Bible Sunday School Class. He was retired from the City of Atlanta.

Funeral services were held June 11 at Higgins and Son Funeral Home in Fairburn with the Rev. W.W. Cook and the Rev. Gary Green officiating. Interment followed at Holly Hill Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Scarbrough; children, John C. (Joyce) Scarbrough of Tyrone, Don E. (Diana) Scarbrough of Brooks, Fred D. (Chris) Scarbrough of Fairburn, Judy (Harry) Rivers of Newnan; and 11 grandchildren.

DR. ROBERT S. STRICKLAND SR.

Dr. Robert S. Strickland Sr., 74, of Mableton died June 9, 1997 at Promina Cobb Hospital in Austell.

Born May 18, 1923 in Douglasville, Dr. Strickland was the son of the late Delcer Solomon Strickland and Mary Roberts Strickland. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and received a medical degree from the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City in 1946.

Dr. Strickland practiced in LaGrange and Auburn before establishing a practice in Mableton in 1958. He had served on the staff of Cobb General Hospital, Parkway Regional Hospital and Doctor's Hospital.

He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of Georgia, the American Osteopathic Association, Cobb County Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Practice.

Dr. Strickland was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Atlanta. He had served as director of the South Cobb Boy's Club and was listed in Who's Who in America.

Funeral services were held June 12 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with Father Isaias Rodriguez officiating. Interment followed at Myrtle Hill cemetery in Hogansville with Dr. Carlos Osmon, Dr. Jerry Pope, Dr. William Arnold, Dr. Aris Iatridis, Dean Lee, Ray Gary, Bill Duffie, Jim Johnson and Wade Arnett serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Trussell Strickland of Mableton; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Robert S. (Deanna) Strickland Jr. of Acworth; sisters, Helen Kirby, Jennie Lynn Lowrey of Nicholasville, Kent.; and grandchildren, Phillip Strickland and Elizabeth Strickland, both of Acworth.

MRS. FRANCES DINGLER TENNEY

Mrs. Francis Dingler Tenney, 75, of East Oak Street in Luthersville died June 10, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Jan. 2, 1922 in Crawfordville, Mrs. Tenney was the daughter of the late Isaac Dingler and Martha Frances Robinson. She was a member of Gordon Road Church of Christ and a seamstress.

Funeral services were held June 12 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mansel Carpenter officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill cemetery with Terry Brannon, Ronnie Hemmings, Willie Gray, Steve Hurley, Vernon Pedley and Joseph Hannah serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Tenney of Luthersville; children, Marvin and Mattie Tenney, Edna Ruth Tenney, William Boyd and Betty Tenney, all of Newnan, Lavonia and Jimmy Sellers of Union Point, Mamie Tenney, Billy and Shelia Tyree, all of of Luthersville, Ronald David and Unive Tenney of Dalton, Jack Lee Tenney of Milledgeville; son-in-law, Limuel Grier of Greenville; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

HENDERSON B. COUCH

Mr. Henderson B. Couch, 78, of Tyrone died June 9, 1997 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Born May 1, 1919 in Coweta County, he was the son of the late Wilbur W. Couch and Willie Todd. He was a retired railroad engineer and a member of the Methodist faith.

Graveside services will be held June 11 (today) at 11 a.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn.

Survivors include his son, Jim and Sandra Couch of Tyrone; grandson, Dr. Chad and Lynn Couch of Newnan; sisters, Margie Couch Hayes, Mildred Robbins, Gladys Merrett, all of Newnan, Madge Arnold of Snellville; nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 760 Washington St., S.W., Atlanta, Ga., 30315.
