MR. JAMES "LAMAR" HAYNES
Mr. James "Lamar" Haynes, 76, of East Camp Street in Moreland died May 2, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.
Born Oct. 4, 1920 in Coweta County, Mr. Haynes was the son of the late James R. and Beatrice (Thompson) Haynes. A member of Moreland United Methodist Church, he was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Funeral services were held May 4 at Moreland United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Brackman officiating. Interment followed at Southview cemetery in Moreland with Chris Haynes, Scott Haynes, Alan Coody, Larry McDaniel, Brian McDaniel and Matthew McDaniel serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Sara (Threatt) Haynes of Moreland; daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Richard Chase of Oglethorpe; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Bonnie) Haynes of Moreland; son, Jimmy Haynes of Moreland; sister, Sally Eason of Moreland; brother and sister-in-law, Myron and Robbie Haynes; brother, Harold and Margaret Haynes of Newnan; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

MRS. MARY ALICE HUFF
Mrs. Mary Alice Huff, 69, of Hogansville died May 2, 1997 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Born April 10, 1928 in Grantville, Mrs. Huff was the daughter of the late William Burt Hayes and Mary Plant Hayes. She was a member St. James United Methodist Church and was retired from Uniroyal Inc. after 38 years.
Funeral services were held May 4 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. David Pickard officiating. Interment followed at Myrtle Hill cemetery with Darryl Cleveland, Jeff Jones, Tommy Pike, Greg Singleton, Randy Johnson and Johnny Sims serving as pallbearers. Christopher Cleveland served as an honorary pallbearer.
Survivors include her husband, Clinton Huff of Hogansville; nieces and nephews.

MR. JERRY WAYNE KIRKPATRICK
Mr. Jerry Wayne Kirkpatrick, 55, of Piedmont, Ga., formerly of Newnan, died May 1, 1997 at the V.A. Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala.
Graveside services were held May 4 at Piedmont Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his daughters, Shelia Boswell of Columbia, S.C., Jerri Leigh Kirkpatrick of Newnan; son, Jerry Wayne Kirkpatrick of Columbia; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kirkpatrick of Columbia; sister, Peggy Fagan of Piedmont; brothers, Ronnie Kirkpatrick, Joe Vann Kirkpatrick, both of Piedmont; and grandchildren, Shanna Craven, Ryan Boswell and Tyler Boswell.

MR. ALVIN HARRIS MAPP
Mr. Alvin Harris Mapp, 62, of Newnan died May 3, 1997 at his home.
Born May 21, 1934 in Atlanta, Mr. Mapp was the son of the late Alvin A. and Annie Ruth (Lewis) Mapp. He was a member of the Baptist faith and a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army.
Funeral services were held May 5 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Ayers officiating.
Survivors include his daughters, Michelle L. Mapp, Eva Burgess both of Newnan; son, Alvin Scott Mapp of Newnan; sister, Francis Callaway of Thomaston; brothers, Charles Mapp, William Howard Mapp, both of Newnan; granddaughters, Tonia Burgess and Amber Mapp.

MRS. EVELYN A. PEARSE
Mrs. Evelyn A. Pearse, 80, of Peachtree City died May 3, 1997 in Newnan.
Born Oct. 12, 1916 in Arlington, Mass., Mrs. Pearse was a member of First Congregational Church and was retired from the Town of Danvers as manager of the Thorpe School cafeteria.
Memorial services will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Lovejoy Memorial Methodist Church in Newnan.
Survivors include her daughters Janet Marson of Vermont, Marilyn Piranio and Sharron Runnals, both of Georgia, Nancy Michaud and Marcia Parker, both of New Hampshire, Donna Robinson of Newnan; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

MR. WILLIE C. SIMS
Mr. Willie C. Sims, 74, of McIntosh Street in Newnan passed away April 28, 1997 at his home.
Born July 29, 1922 in Coweta County, Mr. Sims was the son of the late Bertha Sims. A member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Moreland, he was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a mechanic at West Point Pepperel until his retirement in 1984.
Funeral services were held May 3 at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. L.W. Booker Sr. officiating, assisted by the Rev. J.T. Coleman, the Rev. Melvin Brittain Jr., and the Rev. R.W. Sutton. Interment followed at Eastview cemetery with Julius Sims, Roy Adams, Eddie B. Bass, Robert Bass, William Hill, Harvey Brooks and Eddie Bass Jr. serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille D. Sims; uncle, Joe Will Sims of Newnan; brothers-in-law, Robert Domineck of Canton, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Willie C. (Lizzie Mae) Domineck of East Point; nieces and nephews.

MRS. ROSE CROSSETT THOMAS
Mrs. Rose Crossett Thomas, 75, of Newnan died May 2, 1997.
Born May 6, 1921 in Little Rock, Ark., she was the widow of Capt. Gordon W. Thomas.
A 1939 graduate of Little Rock High School, Mrs. Thomas studied psychology and sociology and earned degrees from the University of Arkansas, Rockford College and Stanford University.
In 1942 she served as a campaign staffer for U.S. Sen. John McClellan and later worked in a newly created position of manager of the mail order department for Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Little Rock.
Mrs. Thomas served as an administrator for the University of Michigan and an admissions officer at Lake Forest and Rockford Colleges. She worked with the War Assets Administration in Willow Run Mich. and Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois.
Mrs. Thomas worked as an administrator for the U.S. Army Chaplains Corp. at Ft. Sheridan, Ill.; a counselor for Army Community Service in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas; a housing referral assistant at Little Rock Air Force Base; and a alcohol and drug abuse program member at Ft. McPherson in Georgia.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Yasbel Odom Sunday School Class of Newnan Presbyterian Church; Newnan Chapter #599 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy; Abraham Baldwin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Colonial Dames; Arkansas Pioneers - from her ancestor Judge David W. Lowe; the Army Officers Wives Club; the Heritage School Grandparents Club; the Republican Women's Club; and a founder of the Newnan Chapter AAUW.
Graveside services were held May 4 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan with Dr. Harry Barrow officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Andris Irrizari, Patrick Gould, Michael Scott, Winston Skinner, Len Crowder and Pat Hamilton.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rose Elizabeth and Jack Camp of Newnan; grandchildren, Thomas Henry "Harry" and Sophie Rose; aunt, Dorothy D. Mrs. Mary Hill Bailey, 61, of Neal Street in Newnan passed away April 20, 1997 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Mrs. Cora Williams Bolton, 91, of Newnan passed away April 29, 1997 at The Personacare of Clayton in Lake City.
Born March 31, 1906 in Coweta County, Mrs. Bolton was a member of Liberty Hill AME Church.
Funeral services will be held May 3 (today) at 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Sharpsburg with the Rev. Coleman Hayes officiating, assisted by evangelist Inez Moreland. Interment followed at the church cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

MR. J.W. HESTER
Mr. J.W. Hester, 75, of LaGrange died April 29, 1997 at West Georgia Medical Center.
Born Nov. 23, 1921 in Randolph County, Ala., Mr. Hester was the son of the late John Troy and Ruby Richardson Hester. He a member of First Christian Church in LaGrange and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. during World War Two.
Mr. Hester was a retired toolmaker from Douglas and Lomason Company.
Funeral services were held May 1 at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange with pastor David A. Kegel and the Rev. Wayne Hester officiating. Interment followed at Restlawn Memory Gardens in LaGrange.
