Mr. Sanders Eugene Winns

Mr. Sanders Eugene Winns, 46, died Dec. 4, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Decatur.

Born May 29, 1951, in Colquitt County, Mr. Winns was the son of the late Geta Albert Winns and Leila P. Winns. He served five years in the U.S. Army and was employed by Perry Brothers Company in Americus.

A service was held Wednesday at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. E.L. Ellison officiating. Interment followed at Eastview cemetery with family friends serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Berdia Winns; step-children, Angela, Gwen, Valarie, Corene, Andre; sisters, Ella R. Alford, Helen J. Thompson, Linda 0. Teagle, Kathleen Winns, all of Newnan, Dorothy M. Callahan, Evangelist Ann Ammons, both of Lithonia; brothers, Geta A. Winns, Jr. of Lake City, Fla., Theodore Winns of Newnan, Donnie S. Winns of Bremerton, Wash.; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; aunts; uncles and nephews.

Mrs. Carol Martine Byler

Mrs. Carol Martine Byler, 70, of Charlotte, N.C. died Dec. 9, 1997, of cancer.

Raised in Raleigh, N.C., Mrs. Byler was a retired accountant with Connecticut Temporaries in Darien, Conn. and a member of First Christian Church in Charlotte.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 at First Christian Church in Charlotte.

Survivors include her husband, George Byler; sister, Nancy and George Rogers of Newnan; daughter, Crickett Martyn of Charlotte; sons, James (Jay) and Gina Byler Jr. of of Nashville, Tenn., Robert and Tami Byler of Farmington, Conn.; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church building fund, 100 E. Blvd., Charlotte, N.C., 28203.

Mrs. Ruth Daniel Hammond

Mrs. Ruth Daniel Hammond, 86, of Turin, formerly of Rock. Hill, S.C., died Dec. 12, 1997, at Newnan Hospital.

Born Jan. 31, 1911 in Coweta County, Mrs. Hammond was the daughter of the late James Allen Daniel and Imogene Summer Daniel and was preceded in death by a sister, Emagene Daniel Smith.

She attended Turin School, Starr High School, Fruitland Institute in Hendersonville, N.C., Bessie Tift College and graduated from Florida Southern.

Mrs. Hammond taught school in Newnan, northern Georgia and Winter Garden, Fla. For 31 years, she worked with the South Carolina Employment Service and retired as an assistant office manager in Rock Hill. She was a volunteer in the Right to Read literacy program.

Mrs. Hammond was a member of Oakland Baptist Church in Rock Hill, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. After moving to Turin, where was a member of Turin Baptist Church.

A service will be at 2 p.m. today at Turin Baptist Church with the Rev. John McDuffie and the Rev. Bo Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at Turin Memorial Garden with Milton Cooper, Larry Hammond, Samuel Smith, Joe Guthrey, Carlos Camp, Gene Crunkleton, Grady Lane and Joe Gazaway serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd O. Hammond, and a nephew, W. Allen Smith, both of Turin.

Memorial contributions can be made to Oakland Baptist Church of Rock Hill.

Mr. Donald Wade Millians

Mr. Donald Wade Millians, 65, of West Grantville Road in Newnan died Dec. 10, 1997 at his home.

Mr. Millians was a retired funeral director and embalmer and former Coweta County coroner.

Mr. Millians' career with McKoon Funeral Home stretched over 45 years. He received his embalmer's and funeral director's licenses in 1952 after graduating from John A. Gupton Mortuary College in Nashville.

Mr. Millians served in the National Guard in the 1950s. He was a member of Sylvan Masonic Lodge #429 in Newnan where he twice served as worshipful master and was named Mason of the Year in 1976.

A graveside service will be at Oak Hill cemetery in Newnan.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Millians of Newnan; father, J.T. "Bully" Millians of Newnan; son, Charles Millians of Newnan; daughter, Judy Whitlock of Newnan; grandchildren, Jody Lee, Tammy Lee, Timmy Lee, Jestin Millians, Lori Smith, Michael Whitlock, Wade Whitlock, Sherry Haynes, all of Newnan; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Elizabeth "Bess" Thompson

Mrs. Elizabeth "Bess" Thompson, 86, of Peachtree City died Dec. 8, 1997.

Born Oct. 27, 1911, Mrs. Thompson was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City.

A service was held Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City, with the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Interment followed at Westminster Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Mulholland; grandsons, Mr. and Mrs. John (Anne) Mulholland of Marysville, Ohio, Joshua Mulholland of Peachtree City; granddaughter, Heather Mulholland of Portland, Ore.; and great-grandchildren, Katie Mulholland and Nathan Mulholland, both of Marysville.

Memorial contributions can be made to the pew fund at First Presbyterian Church, 206 Willow Bend Road, Peachtree City, Ga., 30269.

Mr. Willard Almond Jr.

Mr. Willard Almond Jr., 50, of Howard Hughes Road, Newnan, died Dec. 10, 1997, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia.

He was born Aug. 14, 1947 to Mrs. Iretha Gibson Almond and the late Mr. Willard Almond Sr. He graduated from Central High School in Newnan in 1966, where he served as a captain of the football team. He was an avid supporter of all sports in Coweta County.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Sellers-Smith R.W.S. Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. R. W. Sutton officiating, assisted by elder Joseph Scandrick.

Burial was in Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, on Hal Jones Road, Newnan.

Serving a honorary pall bearers were members of the Central High School Class of 1966. Active pall bearers were Leon Woods Sr., Bryant Warner Jr., Peniston Arnold, Leroy Robinson, Jerome Smith Sr. and Albert Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Ms. Geneva Y. Almond; children, Roderick J. Almond, Patrick B. Almond and Crystal Burks; mother, Mrs. Iretha Gibson Almond; aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. (Mary) Neely, Mr. & Mrs. Oliver (Leslie) Ball, Mrs. Ora Satterwhite and Mrs. Rozelle Almond; mother-in-law, Mrs. Marguerite Young; sisters-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Vernon (Carolyn) Strickland, Jacquelyn D. Young; brothers-in-law, Frontz Young, Jr., Mr. & Mrs. Edward Young, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Young, Will Young and William Young; a devoted cousin, Ms. Irma (Deanie) Heath; a very special friend, Bernard Johnson (B.J.), a special family friend, Mr. Milton Bussie; a very special friend, Mrs. Betty Rosser.

Mr. Harry J. Davis

Mr. Harry J. Davis, 72, of Hogansville, died Dec. 15, 1997 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Born May 2, 1925, Mr. Davis was a former resident of LaGrange and had lived at Hogansville for the past 18 years. He retired from the Kex Division of Milliken and Company and then worked eight years for the City of LaGrange as a landscaper for LaFayette Square. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from the National Guard after 33 years of service.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Tommy McLeroy will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill cemetery in Hogansville.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy W. Davis of Hogansville; daughter, Mrs. Connie Phillips of Hopewell, Virginia; sons, Jack Davis, Tommy Davis, Jerry Davis and Felix Davis, all of LaGrange, and Clyde Davis of Opelika, Alabama; step-daughter, Mrs. Debbie Embry of Hogansville; step-sons, Ronnie Webb of Point Clear, Alabama and Tommy Webb of Newnan; sister, Mrs. Lucille Sorrows of Lithia Springs; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Girtha Mae Ellis

Mrs. Girtha Mae Ellis of 53 Sewell Rd., Grantville, Ga., died Dec. 13, 1997 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Mr. Quintus Keith Hill

Mr. Quintus Keith Hill, 42, of West Washington St., Newnan, died Dec. 11, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

He was born Nov. 23, 1955 to the late Dorothy Louise Pullins Henderson. He was employed at Midas International Company for over 20 years.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Moreland, Ga. The Rev. L. W. Booker, pastor, officiated, and the Rev. Roger Hill was eulogist. Burial was in Mount Calvary Church Cemetery.

Serving as honorary pall bearers were Carl Williams, Roger Teagle, Robert Lee Woods, Jimmy Ballard, Eric Horsley, Kevin Boston and Tony Herring. Serving as active casket bearers were Willie F. Arnold, Burce Favors, Fred Worthan, Ronald Woods, Terry Cook and Carl Robinson.

Survivors include wife, Lynn A. (Albertina) Hill; dughters, Mr. and Mrs. Fred (Tamika) Dixon and Nichell Robinson; son, Jason Jospeh Hill; granddaughter, Jasmin B. Dixon; sisters, Ms. Charlotte Hill, Mrs. Eloise Gibbs, Mr. & Mrs. Larry (Wilma) Ballard, Chandra Brewster and Cantrella Hinton all of Newnan; brothers, Mr. Willie James Hill Jr. of Masa, Arizona, Mr. & Mrs. Richard (Angela) Hill, Mr. & Mrs. Wilbert (Juanita) Hill and Gregory Henderson, all of Newnan; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; a host of special friends, including Kenithia Hightower, The Newnan Hospital Softball Team and the Pickup Softball Team, Mr. Ronald Woods, Mr. Robert Lee Woods (China) and Mr. Fred Wortham.

Mr. Joseph Curtis Jackson

Mr. Joseph Curtis Jackson, 74, of Newnan, died Dec. 14, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

He was born in Heard County Aug. 18, 1923. He retired after 32 years at Georgia Power's Plant Yates as procedure specialist. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a paratrooper in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a past master of Coweta Masonic Lodge #60.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. Officiating will be the Rev. Don Helms. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 656 Roscoe Rd. Fellow masons from Coweta Masonic Lodge #60 will serve as pall bearers.

Survivors include his wife, Vesta J. Jackson of Newnan; daughter, Brenda Presley; sisters, Pauline Cavender of Newnan and Lyunda Garner of Morrow, Ga.; grandchildren Aaron Presley and Benjamin Joseph "B. J." Presley; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the donor's favorite charity.

Miss Amber Elizabeth Schroeder

Miss Amber Elizabeth Schroeder, infant daughter of Natasha R. and Tracy D. Schroeder of Sid Hunter Road, Senoia, Ga., died Dec. 13, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

She was born Nov. 4, 1997, in Riverdale, Ga.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church with Pastor Robert McCurry officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 656 Roscoe Rd., Newnan.

Survivors include father, Tracy D. Schroeder of Senoia; mother, Natasha R. Schroeder of Senoia; brother, Haddon Schroeder of Senoia; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David McCurry of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Schroeder of Senoia, Mrs. Phyllis Terry of Hernando, MS; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCurry of Newnan, Mrs. Clara Pritchard, Pennsylvania; great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Ruby McCurry, of Newnan.

Contributions may be made to the Memorial fund in memory of Amber c/o Heritage Bapitst Church at 3613 E. Hwy. 34, Sharpsburg, Ga. 30277.
