She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Henderson and son-in-law John Lee, who reside in Athens, GA. A Memorial Service will be held at the Good Hope Christian Church on July 27th at 4:00 pm. Susan Garrett, 41, of Madison died on July 6, 2006. She was born on Feb. 4, 1965 in Clarke County to the late Nelson Garrett and the late Carol Russell Garrett. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 8 at 4 p.m. at the chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Margaret Adams officiating. Interment followed at Resthaven Cemetery. James F. Wiley, Jr.
James F. Wiley, Jr., 92, of Social Circle died on July 5, 2006. He was born on Feb. 21, 1914 to the late James Fredrick Wiley and the late Nell Mobley Wiley. He was a life long member of the Social Circle United Methodist Church and held many positions in the church. He was the owner and operator of a hardware store in Social Circle for 60 years and member of Dawson Masonic Lodge No. 68 in Social Circle over 60 years.

Robert Allen Phillips Sr., 60 of Social Circle walked into eternal life, July 5, 2006 following complications from a heart attack. He was born in Tampa, FL, the son of J.B. and Pauline Phillips. Mr. Phillips was retired from Delta Airlines after 28 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Social Circle United Methodist Church where he had served on many committees and was past Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was a member of John Darling Lodge # 154, the Masonic Low Twelve Club of Tampa and Delta Pioneers.

Mrs. Roberson was born in Elberton, GA., raised in Decatur, GA., and lived in Loganville most of her life. She was a member of Gum Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Roberson was predeceased by spouse, Henry Jackson Roberson.

He was born August 11, 1964 in Hillsboro, OH. the son of Gene Fawley of Hillsboro, OH and Patty (Trout) Ludwick of Hillsboro, Ohio. Mr. Fawley was a professional truck driver. He was a 1983 graduate of Hillsboro High School.

A life long resident of Walton County, she was a retired nurses aide having been employed by the Walton County Hospital, Barrow County Hospital and Clinical Arts Services. Funeral services were held July 1, 2006 in the chapel of Arthur Bowick Funeral Home. The Rev. Buford Hutchins and the Rev. Michael Blount officiated and interment was in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery.

Funeral services were held June 30, 2006 in Maranatha Community Church. The Rev. Darhyl Phillips and the Rev. Wayne Fuller officiated. Interment was in the Good Hope Cemetery.

Ruth Thompson of Good Hope passed away peacefully at Hospice Atlanta on Monday, July 3, 2006. She is the former Sally Ruth Dickson of Waycross, born Feb. 17, 1914 and is preceded in death by her husband, Branan G. Thompson, Sr., and her parents, Essie Smalley and John Will Dickson. Ruth is a graduate of Waycross High School and the University of Georgia. She taught home economics in Eatonton where she met her husband, they were married on Nov. 24, 1935.

Fred Anton Hannak passed peacefully at his San Francisco home on June 25, 2006 from complications of prostate cancer. He was born on Dec. 8, 1928 in Bruenn, Czechoslovakia to the late Julius and Valerie Hannak. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years: Julienne Poulichet Hannak: his daughter: Kimberley Hannak Donaldson, his son-in-law: Richard E. Donaldson and his granddaughter: Julienne Donaldson all of Social Circle. He is also survived by his brother: Paul and sister-in-law: Anne Hannak, Fort Worth, Texas; his nephew: Mark Hannak (Nahida) of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and his niece: Hope Hannak Brunn (Christian) of Estoril, Portugal.

Billy Joe Moon, 71 of Conyers died Wednesday, June 21, 2006. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 24 at Sharon Baptist Church, Loganville. The Rev. Cedric Banks and the Rev. Glenn Stephens officiated. Burial followed at the church cemetery. The oldest living male member of Sharon Baptist Church, Loganville, Mr. Moon was employed with C & D Battery in Conyers as a grid maker for trains.

J.T. Wellborn, 91 of Monroe, died on June 23, 2006. He was born in Morgan County on Aug. 29, 1914 to the late Willie Paul Wellborn and the late Willie Love Joy Smith Wellborn. He was preceded in death by his wife: the late Claude Briscoe Wellborn and sisters: the late Frances Wellborn and the late Elsia Yansey. He was a longtime member of Braswell Holiness Church. He was also a Army Veteran of World War II and a EMT with the Walton County Hospital.

Owner of Crowes Store in Youth and a Builder and Developer in the Youth Community, Mr. Crowe was a graduate of Loganville High School 1980 and was preceded in death by his mother: Kathleen Crowe in 1990.

William Todd and Terry Hall presented the eulogy.

Mr. Baker is a U.S. Air Force Veteran and was a member and very active at Faith Evangelical Methodist Church in Douglasville for 40 years. He retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Hapeville as a crew leader after 37 years of service.

Born Dec. 21, 1920 in Chester, PA, the daughter of the late Emmor T. and Ida Cloud. She attended the “Eight Square” Schoolhouse on Beaver Valley Rd., Alfred I. DuPont Elementary School and was a 1939 gradudate of P.S. DuPont High School.

Elizabeth was a dedicated mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband: Frank “Keno” Zara; two daughters: Linda Zara Garrett and Frances Zara Bodnar; one son: Joseph Wayne Zara and two sisters: Mary Harris and Evalina Maragni.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Daniel Edgar Clegg and the late Roxie Ann Hanson Clegg; step-mother: the late Susie Everette Clegg. Emmett Clegg and his wife Frances were married for 69 years.

Mary w. Walker, 72 of Monroe died August 3, 2006. A life long resident of Walton County, she was the first female bank president in the state, becoming president of the National Bank of Walton County in 1973, and retired in 1991, a career that started when she was in high school. She had served on the Jekyll Island Authority, Federal Reserve Board of Directors, GTE Board of Directors, the Private Colleges and Universities Facilities Authority and was a member of the Monroe First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Monroe Golf and Country Club and was an accomplished golfer and past president of the Monroe Pilot Club.

She came to Georgia in 1930 to study at Wesleyan College and met Mortimer Tharper Sanders, the proprietor of Sanders Furniture Company in Monroe.

William Ray Nelson
William Ray Nelson passed away peacefully on Aug. 4, 2006 after an extended illness. Ray was born in Belton, S.C. on Dec. 12, 1927 to the late George and Wyonea Nelson. The youngest of 11 children, Ray was typically referred to as “Baby Ray”. His love for learning became evident at Belton-Hodea Path High School. After graduation, Ray went back to high school for one more year in order to play football and serve as editor of the school yearbook. During this time, Ray earned Eagle Scout. Upon his second high school graduation, Ray attended Furman University and Clemson University.

Tony Eugene Martin
Mr. Tony Eugene Martin, 55, passed away quietly in his home on July 29, 2006, following a long battle with cancer. Mr. Martin, a native of Walton County was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He will be missed by all. Tony was a carpenter most of his life, he loved his family and friends and he never met a stranger. He loved his grandchildren, and they will truly miss “Paw-Paw”. Tony accepted Jesus Christ into his life on Feb. 14, 2000, a day that changed his life forever. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Oxford and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Golden Fleece Lodge #6.
