William Alexander Simpson
Mr. William Alexander Simpson, Sr., age 71, of Butler, Georgia formerly of McDonough died August 15, 2007. Mr. Simpton was born in Henry County the son of the late Cora Mae Goodman and Hugh A. Simpson. Mr. Simpson was a devoted farmer, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and the beach. He was a previous member of McDonough United Methodist Church and later Butler United Methodist Church. A sister, Peggy Owens, preceded him in death.
Survivors are children, Deb and Ray Banks of Hampton, Clay and Traci Simpson of Butler and Bill and Carmel Simpson of McDonough; grandchildren, Jackie Jones, Sadie Simpson, Ben Banks, Will Simpson, Tom Banks, Chandler Simpson, Cole Simpson and Kennady Simpson; great grandchildren, Gavin and Dakota Simpson and Trenton Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Bo and Sue Simpson; sister and brother-in-law, Hariette and Jimmy Robinson; brother-in-law, Heyward Owens and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Simpson were held August 18 at Haisten/East-lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dana Everhart officiating. Those who wish may make donations to, Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31901. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Roger Duncan
Roger Duncan, age 59, of Rex, Georgia died August 16, 2007. He was born in Camden, South Carolina, the son of the late Erastus Chastain and Minerva Ann Laminac Duncan. Mr. Duncan was a member of IBEW Local Union 613 for 40 years. He enjoyed sports, trips to Las Vegas and especially family trips to Florida which were of great importance to him. He was very much a family man. Spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends was his greatest joy.
He is survived by his wife; Terry Duncan of Rex; daughter and son-in-law, Tamatha and Jason Barbour of Lawrenceville; sons, Roger Duncan, Jr. and James Duncan, both of Rex; five grandchildren, Breanne, Summer, Spencer, Gavin and Christain; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Ann Duncan of White Plains.
Memorial services were held August 18 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Roger Davis officiating. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Southeast Division, 135 Bradford Square, Suite B, Fayetteville, Georgia 30215. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Linda Sue Ragsdale Long
Mrs. Linda Sue Ragsdale Long, age 63, of McDonough, Georgia died August 17, 2007. Mrs. Long was born in Cobb County. Linda was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge in Ellenwood, worked as a bookkeeper for Stringer Lumber in McDonough for 18 years, she enjoyed her family, reading, sewing and fishing. Her father, Patrick Cleburn Ragsdale preceded her in death.
Survivors are her husband, William Earl Long of McDonough; children, Nanette Gibson and Sabrina Puckett both of McDonough; stepchildren, Tammy Powell of Utah, William Earl Long Jr. of Madison, and Jeff Long of Riverdale; mother, Billie Deavours Ragsdale of McDonough; grandchildren, Alex Durden, Lindsay Durden, Dennis Gibson, Kalli Puckett, Korey Puckett, William Long, Christy Barron, Jessica Long; sister, Carol Ann Bohannon of Griffin.
Services for Mrs. Long were held August 20 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Al O’Quinn officiating. Interment Haisten/East-lawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

David “Harold” Dailey
David “Harold” Dailey, age 82, of Flippen, Georgia died August 3, 2007. He was born in Flippen Community (McDonough), the son of the late Warren Candler and Nannie Clementine (Hope) Harris Dailey. Mr. Dailey served our country with the Navy during WW II onboard the U.S.S. Chepachet A.O. 78 Tanker. He was a member of the Flippen United Methodist Church, the Henry County Shrine Club, and owned Dailey’s General Merchandise. He farmed peaches, pecans, and apples. He liked to travel, entertain his friends, invent things, and had a good sense of humor. He loved having family and friends around him. “He was one of a kind.”
Mr. Dailey is survived by wife, Stella Floyd-Dailey of McDonough; daughter, Rex and Leigh Dailey-Buckingham, and their children, Kenneth and Ryan Buckingham of Columbus,Ohio; stepchildren, Jimmy and Susie Thurmond and their children Will and Jake, of McDonough, Steve and Cindy Jones and their children, Kara and K.C. of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Terry Jones and his son, Adam of McDonough, Todd and Georgiail Jones and son Will of McDonough.
Funeral Services were held on August 6 at Flippen United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Emmett and Rev. Georgiary DeMore officiating. Interment Flippen Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Willie Belle Glass
Willie Belle Glass, age 92, of Dalton, Georgia, formerly of Stockbridge, died August 5, 2007. She was born in Fairburn, the daughter of the late James and Lilly Dura West. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Dalton, a former member of North Henry Baptist Church in Stockbridge, a member of the Eastern Star in Decatur, and a member of Manetho Shrine UD #3. Mrs. Glass enjoyed gardening, fishing and cooking. She was known in Stockbridge for her biscuits, cornbread, and dressing. But what she enjoyed most was her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Henry Devaughn Glass, brothers, Tony West and James West, and sister, Jeannette Ora Koon.
Mrs. Glass is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Juanita Bryant of Greensboro, Eva Nelle Dunne of Dalton, Lucille Bell, Jacqueline
Millwood and Madelyn DeVaughn Jordan, all of Stockbridge; sister, Lillian McCord of Cleveland, Tennessee; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held August 8 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. James Brownlee officiating. Interment Westview Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Frances Kelly
Mrs. Frances Kelly, age 93, of Jackson, Georgia died August 7, 2007. She was born in Atlanta to the late Charles Richard Herbert Clark and Mary Izora Nelms Clark. She was retired from the Food Service Department of the DeKalb School System and was a member of Salem Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Clark Kelly in 1969.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Maxine (Francis) Allegret of Stone Mountain and Mrs. Suzette (Ray) Rainer of McDonough; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Ruth King of Indiana; sister-in-law, Mrs. Julia Gunter of Grayson; and 3 nieces and 7 nephews.
Services were held August 10 from the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Dudley Rose officiating. Interment Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 400 Perimeter Center Terrace, Suite 750, Atlanta, Georgia, 30346 in memory of Mrs. Kelly. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Whitney Cook
Ms. Whitney Cook, age 32, of Hampton, Georgia died August 8, 2007. She is survived by her sons: Chandler Cook and Ayden Cook; sister, Ashley Cochran; mother, Malaine Herold; and father, Wiley Post.
Services were held August 12 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. According to her wishes, cremation will follow the service. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Kylee Marie Donald
Infant Kylee Marie Donald of McDonough, Georgia died August 8, 2007. She was born in Riverdale May 22, 2007.
Kylee is survived by her parents, Matthew and Bridget Donald; brother, Lathan Oeldrich; grandparents, Marsha R. Donald of Morrow, Mahlon H. Donald of Fayetteville, Louie and Janet Peebles of McDonough; great-grandparents, Juanita Donald of Foley, Alabama,, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Randall of Fayetteville, Eva Mays of Jonesboro; aunt, Brandi Mapp of McDonough; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held August 11 at Henry Baptist Church. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Liddie N. Pace
Liddie N. Pace, age 78, of Sharpsburg, Georgia died August 8, 2007. She was born in Alabama, daughter of the late John Henry and Annie Upchurch Nix. She loved gardening, yardwork, crafts, ceramic work, crocheting, and working with her hands. She loved to sing and was a great basketball player. She had the gift of hospitality, always serving, giving, and helping people in need. She was always actively involved in her church. In latter years, she enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Club. But most important to her was her family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Harvey Sheffield and second husband, George Ransom Pace.
Mrs. Pace is survived by her children, James O. (Tricia) Sheffield of McDonough, Regenia S. (Dub) Walters of Sharpsburg, Joey A. (Lori) Sheffield of McDonough; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Betty N. Crocker of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held August 11 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Bobby Carpenter officiating. Interment Hollywood Cemetery in Tallapoosa. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Richard F. Torrey. Jr.
Richard F. Torrey. Jr, age 53, of McDonough, Georgia died August 8, 2007. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. Mr. Torrey was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church and attended the Fire and Faith Sunday School Class. He was also active in the GROW program as a greeter. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who thrived on making his girls laugh and spoiling the grandchildren.
Mr. Torrey is survived by his wife, Diane Torrey; parents, Richard F. Torrey, Sr. and Barbara L. Vantine Torrey of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; daughters, April Torrey and Denise Torrey, both of Silversprings, Florida and Wendy Torrey of McDonough; siblings, Cynthia Bedard of West Springfield, Massachusetts and Bruce Torrey of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 13 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Statham officiating. Interment Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, in charge of arrangements.

Richard G. Cox
Richard G. Cox, age 29, of Marietta, Georgia died August 9, 2007. He was born in Atlanta and was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed baseball and football. His favorite team was the University of Alabama, although he was from Georgia and was a closet UGA fan as well. He was an engineering major at The University of Alabama and recently became involved in real estate franchising. Mr. Cox was a very sociable person who never met a stranger. He was kind and non-judgmental, always placing others before himself. He enjoyed spending time with children, especially his nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cox is survived by his father, Joseph Boyd Cox, Sr, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; mother, Ruth Roberts of Locust Grove; brothers, Joe Cox, Jr. of Marietta, Michael Cox of Roswell, Mark Roberts of Yellowstone, Wyoming; sisters, Karen Wilson of Marietta, Diana Schmidt, of Salt Lake City, Utah; nephew, Cashton Wilson and nieces, Lauren Cox and Caitlin Cox, all of Marietta; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held August 12 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Bishop Daniel Hanekamp officiating. Interment Fairview Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Guy G. Sayles, Sr.
Guy G. Sayles, Sr., age 70, of Locust Grove, Georgia died July 24, 2007. Born to Hearvy Jack and Gladys Mae Sayles on July 14, 1937 in Huntington, West Virginia. Mr. Sayles spent his adult life in Georgia and worked as a sales representative for Southern Druggists and Wright Brothers, Inc. Mr. Sayles was committed to his faith, serving as a deacon, Bible teacher and youth leader at the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Nancy Linkfield Sayles; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Gary White and their daughter Amy; their son and daughter-in-law, Guy and Anita Sayles and their children, Amanda and Eliot; by his sister and brother-in-law, Sue and David Franklin; and by several cousins, nephews and nieces.
A celebration of his life was held on July 27 at the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the building fund of the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
