Mrs. Helen Benefield of Austell entered into rest on Wednesday, March 30, 2011.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Springfield AME Church, Stapleton, with Rev. Michael Ephraim officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Dwellie Benefield; and daughter, Gwen Benefield, both of Austell. Burnett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Joyce Louise Barfield Glisson
Mrs. Joyce Louise Barfield Glisson, 76, of Wrens entered into rest on Friday, April 8, 2011, at Glendale Nursing Home, Wadley.
Born to the late Virgie Lee Massey and the late Charlie B. Barfield, Mrs. Glisson grew up in Wilcox County. After receiving her nursing degree, she moved to Burke County in 1957 and worked in various local hospitals and nursing homes for more than 30 years.
Memorial services were held on Monday, April 11, 2011, at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home, with Pastor Frankie May officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Glisson; and sister, Josie May Nations of Atlanta.
Survivors include her daughter, Aletha G. Wilson (Emory); brother, James F. Barfield (Tillie) of Seville; sister, Shirley Wilkes (Douglas) of Vienna; 10 grandchildren, Amanda Bazemore, Robert Parker III, Leila Parker (Gordon), Jessica Ledbetter (Richard), Rosa Vaughn, Michelle Norfolk, John Norfolk, Ben Wilson (Megan), Matt Wilson (Barbara), and Adam Wilson; 15 great-grandchildren; and many friends.

Mr. William Randolph “Pap” Farmer, 74, of Stapleton entered into rest on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Farmer was a native of Jefferson County, the son of the late Tom Farmer Sr. and Daisy Jones Farmer. He joined Stone Springfield AME Church at an early age and attended Stone Springfield AME School. He was a farmer and was employed at Georgia Tennessee.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Stone Springfield AME Church, Stapleton, with Pastor Rev. Michael Ephraim Sr. presiding and Rev. C.W. Stone officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Stone Farmer of Stapleton; children, Marilyn Claire Farmer, Jerry (Sylvia) Farmer, Teresa Farmer Jackson, Jefford (Gwen) Farmer of Stapleton, Janice (Michael) Allen of Louisville, Jacqueline Farmer of Hinesville, and Melvin (Lavern) Story of Manassas, Va.; sisters and brother, Virginia Davis of Louisville, Tom Farmer Jr. and Rev. Mr. Thomas Wilkes “T.W.” Bentley Jr.
Mr. Thomas Wilkes “T.W.” Bentley Jr., 86, of Wrens entered into rest on Friday, April 22, 2011, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson.
Mr. Bentley was born to the late Annie Kate Reid Bentley and the late Thomas Wilkes Bentley Sr. in Lincolnton. After serving in the Army, he married
his wife and moved to Wrens. He was a retiree from the Georgia Department of Transportation Road Maintenance Department and a 40-year member of Walden UMC.
Graveside services were held on Monday, April 25, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Walden UMC Cemetery, with Rev. Tommy Anderson officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sara Cato Bentley; sister, Esther Daniels; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Mr. Terry D. Daniel
Mr. Terry D. Daniel, 65, of North Augusta, S.C., entered into rest on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at University Hospital.
Mr. Daniel was born in Mitchell, and grew up in Wrens. He served for four years in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany, where he met his wife of 44 years. Upon returning to the Augusta area he began a career with United Parcel Service that lasted 35 years.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Westover Memorial Park, with Rev. Allan Faulkner officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Hester Daniel and Lurlean Kent Daniel; siblings, Margaret (Eloise) Williams and Tommie Daniel; and grandchildren, Emma, Charlie III and Cole.
Survivors include his wife, Aagot Daniel; son, Alan Kent Daniel (Christie); daughter, Melissa Daniel Walker (Charlie); brothers, Roy Daniel, Marvin Daniel and Darry Daniel; sisters, Eulawynne Kitchens, Janice Philippe and Wynell Lewis.

Mrs. Maudie M. Arrington
Mrs. Maudie M. Arrington, 88, widow of Mr. Earl Arrington, died Sunday, April 24, 2011, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, in the Thomson Church of God, with Rev. Bobby Farmer officiating.
Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Mrs. Arrington was a native of Washington Co., but had lived in Thomson for many years.
She was a homemaker and a member of Thomson Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ms. Leslie Arrington.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Judy (Doug) Butts, Gibson and Miss Dianne Arrington, Thomson; her two sons, Mr. Rodney (Beth) Arrington, Thomson and Mr. Neil (Anne) Arrington, Ashboro N.C., ; three sisters, Mrs. Bobbie Radford, Thomson, Mrs. Dahlia McCoy and Mrs. Jean Reese, both of Hephzibah; two brothers, Mr. Ray Morgan and Mr. Charlie Morgan, both of Ft. Worth Tx; two grandchildren, Amy (Brad) Denton, Belmont, N.C. and Matt (Anna) Arrington, Marietta; and four great-grandchildren, Brooke Denton, Emma Denton, Avery Denton, and Peyton Arrington.
Pallbearers will be Matt Arrington, Brad Denton, Bob Radford, Reggie Morgan, Larry Morgan, and Kenneth Johnson.

Mr. George Merritt Brister
Mr. George Merritt Brister, 60, of Mitchell entered into rest on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Brister was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cumming. He was a contractor and builder.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011, at Warrenton First Baptist Church, with Rev. Brandon Lail and Rev. Mike Dann officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Brister, Mitchell; one son, T.J. (Karen) Brister of Hartwell; three grandchildren, Dillon, Zachary and Zeb Brister of Hartwell; three brothers, Johnny Brister of Amocolie, Fla., Kenny Brister of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Steve Brister Alma; one sister, Diane Leintz of Dawsonville, and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Glenn A. Dukes
Mr. Glenn A. Dukes, 85, of Wrens entered into rest on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Jefferson Hospital.
Mr. Dukes was a native of Jefferson County. After joining the Navy and serving his country during WWII, he finished high school, then attended Southern Business School and worked in Atlanta as a bookkeeper for 30 years. Upon retirement in 1982, he moved back home where he worked part-time at various businesses and did volunteer work. Mr. Dukes was a member of Wrens Church of God.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 29, 2011, at James Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jason Burton and Pastor Terry Addis officiating. Interment followed in the family plot at Ways Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma Wren Dukes and Dorsey Dukes; siblings, Judson Dukes, Dora D. Bell, Ruth D. Eastus, Jimmy Dukes and Natalie D. Pittman.
Survivors include his brothers, John Dukes (Regina) and Randy Dukes (Hilda); sisters, Annette D. Usry and Jean D. Johnson; many nephews and nieces; and many friends.

Mrs. Cora Lee Warthen Flournoy of Bartow entered into rest on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2011, at 2 p.m. at New Fleming Baptist Church and Faith Memorial CME Cemetery, Bartow.
Mrs. Flournoy was a native of Washington County, but lived in Jefferson County since age 8. She joined New Fleming Baptist Church at an early age and served as president of the Missionary Board for more than 55 years. She was the daughter of the late Pecolia Warthen Fields and Willie Salem. She was a homemaker and the widow of Hubert “Big John” Flournoy.
Survivors include her children, Hubert (Jean) Flonnory Jr. and Joyce Flonnory of Bartow, Julian Flonnory of Tennille, Judy Flonnory of Davisboro, Larry (Monica) Flournoy of Sandersville, Barry (Michelle) Flonnory of Rincon, Lonnie (Bonnie) Flonnory of Oklahoma; brother, Mack Fields of Bartow; sisters, Vaster Lee Jordan of Louisville, Martha Brown and Betty Fields of Bartow, Annie (Nick) Carter, Elizabeth Fields of Mt. Vernon, and Rose M. Prince of Bronx, N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Ida Lee Flournoy of Far Rock Away, N.Y., Shelia Fields of Mt. Mrs. Mary Lou Lewis Jordan, 78, of Louisville entered into rest on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at University Hospital, Augusta.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at 4 p.m. at Canaan Galilee Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Stokes officiating. Internment was in Jones Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Jordan was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, the daughter of the late William “Bill” Lewis and Rissie Huntley. She was the widow of the late Willie C. Jordan. Mrs. Jordan was a member Canaan Galilee Baptist Church School, where she joined at an early age. She was a Wal-Mart greeter.
Survivors include her three daughters, Diane Jordan and Elaine (Eddie) Dixon, all of Louisville, and Linda (Troy) Heggs of Blythe; four sons, Eugene Lewis, Thomas Lewis, Charlie Lewis and Rufus Jordan, all of Louisville; 24 grandchildren, including six that she reared as her own, Kasie and Cortland Cunningham, Eddie Jr. and Jordan Dixon, Jalen Heggs, Karen Lewis and Marquel Jordan; 32 great-grandchildren, including one that she reared as her own, Braeden Brown; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosa Lee Lewis and Jessie Bell Fleming of Louisville; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Ethel J. Mr. Lattimore was a native of Jefferson County, the son of the late Gordon Lattimore Sr. and Flora Renfro Lattimore. He was a lifelong member of former Ebenezer CME, Bartow.

Mr. Lively was a native of Augusta. He was a retired painter living in Lincolnton for the past year, having moved from Augusta, and was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Graniteville Cemetery, Graniteville, S.C., with Rev. Gerald Doolittle officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Aileen Boyd Lively; sons, Julius E.
