Mrs. Estelle Rooks Hobbs Stapleton
Mrs. Estelle Rooks Hobbs Stapleton, 87, of Stapleton entered into rest on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at Westwood Nursing Home in Evans.
Born to the late Maybell Owens Rooks and the late Roscoe Rooks in Warren County, Mrs. Stapleton grew up and lived most of her life in Stapleton, where she was a seamstress. She was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer in the Joy Sunday School Class and in the WMU.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. John A. Jenkins officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lewis Hobbs and Maurice Stapleton.
Survivors include four children, Wayne L. Hobbs (Janie) of Thomson, June H. Glover (John) of Augusta, Kenneth A. Hobbs (Phyllis) of St. Marks, Fla., and Janet L. Hobbs of Augusta; four grandchildren, Carol H. McCorkle (Chess) of Thomson, Dana G. Esslinger (Jeff) of Cartersville, Amy G. Scherer (Joseph) of Martinez, and Anthony L. Hobbs (Becky) of St. Marks, Fla.; six great-grandchildren, Brittany McCorkle, Chelsy McCorkle, Jonathan McCorkle, Abby Esslinger, John Joseph Scherer and William Scherer; niece, Gail Field; and nephew, Allen Hobbs.
Pallbearers were Jeff Esslinger, David Field, Allen Hobbs, Anthony Hobbs, Chess McCorkle and Joseph Scherer.

Mr. Louis Felton “Lou” Garrett
Mr. Louis Felton “Lou” Garrett, 81, of Edgewater, Md., entered into rest on Feb. 7, 2011, in Annapolis, Md., of natural causes.
Mr. Garrett was born July 5, 1929, in Bartow, and graduated from Bartow High School. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was employed as a food service manager at the Marriott Corp., and a supervisor of the vending division at the Coca Cola Corp.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joyce B. Garrett; four children, Dwayne Louis Garrett of Davidsonville, Md., Richard Allen Garrett of Annapolis, Md., and Ronald D. Garrett and Sherry Lee Chandler, both of Edgewater, Md.; sister, Carolyn Andrews of Tennille; 10 grandchildren, Travis, April, Kristin, Jessie, Jeffrey, Katie, Allison, Amanda, Dean and Shelley and several stepsisters.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Hardesty Funeral Home, Annapolis, Md. Interment was in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, Md.

Mr. Willie James “Babe” Hatcher
Mr. Willie James “Babe” Hatcher entered into rest on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at his mother’s residence.
Mr. Hatcher was born on Oct. 22, 1948, to Mary McNair Hatcher and the late Willie Hatcher.?He joined Mt. Aldred CME Church at an early age.?He moved to New York and later returned and worked for Glit. He worked there until his health began to fail.
Survivors include four daughters, Alita (Hugh) Zuber of? Mrs. Mazina Faglier Hawkins
Mrs. Mazina Faglier Hawkins of Augusta entered into rest on Feb. 8, 2011.
Born in Jefferson County in 1932, Mrs. Hawkins spent most of her life in Augusta. She was a lifetime member of Bayvale Baptist Church. She worked as a supervisor at Marks Manufacturing for 20 years; sold Tupperware as a manager almost 20 years; and owned and operated Bi-Rite Food Store in McBean for many years.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Lumpkin Road Chapel, with Rev. Lloyd C. Green officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Sharkie Hawkins; parents, Janie Parrish and Kermit K. Faglier; and brothers, Kermit K. Faglier Jr. and Sidney Faglier.
Survivors include her children, Gregory (Cathy) Hawkins of Waynesboro, Gary (Kathy) Hawkins of Augusta, and David (Kathy) Hawkins of Hephzibah; grandchildren, Dana H. Beard (Chris), Shane Hawkins (Ashley), Michael Hawkins (Pam), Amy Hawkins (Jim Wagner), Kevin Hawkins (Reva) and Lisa H. Ridick (Jay); 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and sisters, Margie F. Cook, Mary F. Todd, Gladys Coulter and Frances F. James.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mollie Holley Holliday of Augusta were held on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Gibson.
She was a retired seamstress.

Mr. Commodore Dewey Howell Sr., 40, of Dearing entered into rest on Feb. 6, 2011.
Mr. Howell was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County and was a roofer. He was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Frank and Josie Etterlee. Mrs. Jones was retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida after 25 years of service.
Graveside services were held 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Gerald McNutt officiating.

Mr. Eddie Lane was born on Oct. 12, 1954 in Louisville, Jefferson County, to the parentage of Elmer Lane Sr. and Thelma Davis Lane. He received his education in the Jefferson County Public School System and was employed at Thermo King, Inc. Louisville.

Mr. Lindsey, a native of Washington County was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a member of Josey Baptist Church. He was a ceramic tile mechanic.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Josey Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Snipes and Rev. Inman Gerrald officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Frances Todd Blue, 82, of Davisboro entered into rest on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Washington County Regional Medical Center, Sandersville.
Mrs. Blue was a native of Glascock County, the daughter of the late Billie Jordan Todd and the late Jenny McCoy Todd. She was a homemaker and a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. Larry Glover officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas L. “Tot” Blue of Davisboro; two daughters, Susan B. Mr. Lewis Thomas “L.T.” Crafton
Mr. Lewis Thomas “L.T.” Crafton, 90, of Wrens entered into rest on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at an Augusta nursing facility.
Mr. Crafton was a native of Aiken, S.C., born to the parentage of the late Lewis Crafton and Hattie Henderson Crafton, but lived in Jefferson County most of his life. He was married
to the late Ollie Julia Crafton and later the late Sara Redfield Crafton. He was a member of the Keys Grove Baptist Church, Keysville, where he served as a Deacon and was also instrumental in the establishment of the Gods House of Prayer. Mr. Crafton was a member of the Gibraltar Masonic Lodge No. 265 of Wrens, and was a veteran of WWII where he received a WWII Victory Metal, American Service Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, with two Bronze Stars and Philippine Liberation Ribbon, with one Bronze Star. He received an honorable discharge on Dec. 31, 1945. He was a retired school bus driver with the Jefferson County Board of Education.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at noon at Keys Grove Baptist Church and Harts Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors.

Born in Mitchell to the late Clarence and Susie Marsh Kent, Mrs. Gordon was a homemaker, member of Grace Baptist Church in Fort Valley and member of the AXPOW organization.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, in Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery, Mitchell.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Eugene Gordon.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Richard “Ricky” Gordon of Mitchell, Randy Gordon (Melanie) of Byron and Ronald Gordon of Byron; granddaughters, Rebecca Gordon of Warner Robins, and Melissa Gordon of Lawrenceville.
