Mrs. Polly Jones
Mrs. Polly Jones, 75, of Louisville entered into rest on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Glendale Nursing, Wadley.
A native of Jenkins County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late Bert and Eunice Williams Hendley. She had owned and operated Polly’s Flowers and Gifts in Louisville before retiring, and was a member of Louisville United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Louisville United Methodist Church, with Rev. David Hibberts and Rev. Walter Holmes officiating. Burial followed in the Louisville City Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank E. “Redbird” Jones III; son, Richard McGraw; sister, Rita Evans; brother, Charles Hendley; granddaughter, B.J. Jones; and great-grandson, Tray Davis.
Survivors include sons, Mitchell (Nancy) McGraw of Avera, and Jason (Wanda) McGraw of Louisville; stepchildren, Stan (Jane) Jones of Louisville, Frank (Carol) Jones IV of Louisville, Margaret Ann Gay of Orlando, Fla., and Cindy (Dale) Williams of Louisville; sister, Jean Chester of Millen; brothers, Jay (Pam) Hendley of Millen, and Lloyd (Renee) Hendley of Nevils; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Mark Brady, Barry Wren, Ronnie Jones, Joe Cheeks, Brett Sercey, Pee Wee Commingham and Brent Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Rhodes, Jerry Josey, Bill Bragg, Clarence Henderson, and members of the Louisville Lions Club.

Miss Hattie Bell LaFavor, 81, of Louisville entered into rest on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Uni-Health Post Acute Care Old Capital.
Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Burnetts Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jerome LaFavor officiating. Interment followed in Walker Family Cemetery, Gough.
Survivors include her two sisters, Josephine Lewis, Aiken, S.C., and Jeanette (Glenn) Birt, Wrens; one brother, Bennie Lee Walker, Gough; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Miss Ethel L. Norris
Miss Ethel L. Norris, 101, of Warrenton entered into rest on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Higher Living Personal Care Home.
Miss Norris, a native of Warren County, was the last of nine children born to the late Addie Kitchens Norris and E. T. Norris. She was a graduate of the Macon School of Nursing and retired as a registered nurse. In addition, Miss Norris taught nursing in Macon for 30 years and continued to work until she was 86 years old.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Mill Creek Baptist Church, Glascock County, with Dr. Clifford Drawdy officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Hank Tinley, Allen Haywood, Karl Haywood, Rogers Shelton, Scott Shelton and Andy Shelton.

Mr. James Robert Rabun Jr.
Mr. James Robert Rabun Jr., 77, of Juliette entered into rest on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012.
Mr. Rabun was a native of Louisville, but had made his home in Juliette for many years. He was retired from the logistic department at Robins Air Force Base and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a mason and a member of the Mabel Lodge No. 255 in Macon.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home, Milledgeville, with Rev. Tom Akins officiating. Burial followed at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville.
Survivors include two sons, James Robert Rabun III (Melissa) of Warner Robins, and Anthony T. Rabun (Kim) of Greensboro, N.C.; three brothers, Joe Sam L. Rabun and William W. Rabun, both of Louisville, and Lamar Poole Rabun of East Dublin; a sister, Mary Julia Gibson of Louisville; five grandchildren, James Caleb Rabun, Luke Christopher Rabun, Seth Benjamin Rabun, Anthony T. Miss Niahm Ramirez, 4, of Louisville entered into rest on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, in Pozuelos Cardonal Cemetery, Hidalgo, Mexico.
A native of Augusta, she was a preschooler and attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Louisville.

Mr. John Willie Reese Jr.
Mr. John Willie Reese Jr. entered into rest on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012.
Mr. Reese was a lifetime resident of Jefferson County and the son of the late John Willie and Corinne Dame Reese. He received his education in the Jefferson County School System. Mr. Reese was a member of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church. He was united to marriage to Geneva Morgan on Nov. 22, 1963.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Gordon Grove Baptist Church, Louisville, with Rev. Allen Webb officiating, and Rev. Walter Holmes Sr. presiding.

Mrs. Lena Grace McClesky Rabun
Mrs. Lena Grace McClesky Rabun, 89, of Wrens entered into rest Thursday morning, August 15, 2013, at Trinity Hospital.
The only child born to the late Irene Kitchens McClesky and the late Andrew Newt McClesky, Mrs. Rabun was a lifelong resident of Wrens and a lifelong member of Wrens Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She graduated from high school in Wrens, attended Georgia State College for Women, Milledgeville, and graduated with a BA degree in education from Augusta College, after which she taught school for 42 years teaching at Avera Elementary, Purvis School House and Wrens Elementary. Mrs. Rabun was a wife to her husband, the late John Judson “Juddy” Rabun Sr., who was mayor of Wrens for 38 years. She was also a member of the John Franklin Wren Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution (DAR).
Funeral services were held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Stan Littleton and Rev. J. Scott McKinney officiating. Interment followed in Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John Judson “Juddy” Rabun Sr.
Survivors include her son, John J. “Johnny” Rabun Jr. (Cindy); three grandsons, Heath Rabun (Ashley), Chris Rabun (Jennifer) and Bryan Rabun (Amy); and nine great-grandchildren, Gehrig, Maddux, Hunter, Cole, Ethan, Camille, Lilly Grace, Madison and Baylor.

Mr. John M. “Sonny” Applewhite
Mr. John M. “Sonny” Applewhite, 80, of Augusta entered into rest on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at the Georgia War Veterans Home.
Mr. Applewhite was one of three sons born in Augusta to the late Anne Beatrice Murphy Applewhite and the late Claude Lee Applewhite. He graduated from Richmond Academy, Augusta Junior College and The University of Georgia with a BS in physical education. He later obtained his master’s degree in education from Georgia Southern University and certification in interior design from Augusta Technical College. Before entering the Navy, Mr. Applewhite was known in the local boxing arenas in Augusta and Aiken as Sonny White. He served in the U.S. Navy in communications during the Korean Conflict stateside and in the Azores and re-enlisted during the Vietnam Conflict serving in Guam. During his active duty, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Unit Citation for Outstanding Service while in charge of a special communications unit and Armed Forces Reserve Medal. After leaving active duty, he served in the Naval Reserves in Atlanta, Charleston, S.C., Homestead and Pensacola, Fla., before retiring as Commander. He worked with his father at Applewhite’s Custom Draperies and later continued the business on his own, designing valances, cornices and draperies for historic homes in Augusta and many homes and businesses throughout the CSRA. He taught and worked with troubled children and teens throughout his life, on his own time with the Girl’s and Boy’s Club, downtown Augusta, and through various schools, including Garrett Elementary, Lawton B. Evans School, and Gracewood Hospital. He also spent a short time in hospital education at University Hospital. He was a Christian and a member of National Hills Baptist Church. Some of his favorite moments on earth involved fishing and being with his grandchildren and family.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Chance and Hydrick Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, with Rev. Kevin Steele officiating. Interment with full military honors followed in Ways Baptist Church Cemetery, Stellaville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Muriel McSheehan Applewhite; and brother, William “Billy” Applewhite.

Mrs. Pearlie Mae Jefferson Gilmore of Louisville entered into rest on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at University Hospital, Augusta.
Mrs. Gilmore was a native of Washington County, but later relocated to Jefferson County. She was the daughter of the late Grover Jefferson and Daisy Fort Jefferson. She joined Nealer AME Church, Davisboro, at an early age and she was a homemaker. She was the widow of the late Willie B. Gilmore.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Nealer AME Church, Davisboro, with Rev. Wilhelmina Jordan presiding and Rev. K.C. Davis officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Thomas Harden
Mr. Thomas Harden, 76, of Gloverville, S.C., entered into rest on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013.
He was born in Jefferson County, and a resident of Aiken County, S.C., most of his life. He was a son of the late Thomas “T.W.” and Eula “Trick” Sheppard Harden. He retired from the Townsend Division of the Graniteville Company. Following his retirement from Graniteville Company, he went to work with Sizemore Security at various locations but mainly at the Aiken Mall. He was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church and the Gideon’s Sunday School Class. Mr. Harden was also a member of the Horse Creek Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star Queen City Chapter. He was a former volunteer firefighter with the Langley Volunteer Fire Department.
A celebration of life service was held on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Langley, S.C., with Rev. Ron Hasty and Rev. Chris Fulmer officiating. Interment, with Masonic Rites accorded by Horse Creek Lodge no. 174, AFM, followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, S.C.

Mr. James Thomas “Bo” Holley
Mr. James Thomas “Bo” Holley, 74, of Wrens entered into rest on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at his residence.
One of 11 children born to the late Carrie Arrington Holley and the late Kinchen G. Holley, Mr. Holley was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, where he graduated from Wrens High School and was a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church. He retired with more than 30 years of service as a yard engineer with J.M. Huber Co. He also had his own well-drilling business, as well as, being a restaurateur of several establishments, known for his steaks and “Boburgers.” When he was younger, he coached the Yankees Little League Baseball team. He was a coon hunter, taking teenagers out so that they could experience a coon hunt. On Christmas Eve, he delivered turkeys or hams to less fortunate families.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Clifford Lazenby, Rev. Russell Davis and Rev. Billy Duggan officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, M.G. “Buddy” Holley, John Clifford “Nook” Holley, Doris Holley Delk, K.G. Holley Jr., Dr. Jacob Holley, Dessie Peggy Holley, Louis Holley and Infant Girl Holley.
Survivors include his companion of 28 years, Clara W. Widener; three daughters, Cheryl Holley Burke (Jimmy), Carrie Michelle Holley Stewart (Troy) and Jennifer S. Holley; two siblings, Marcus Alexander “Partner” Holley (Mary) and Farris Holley Lazenby; five stepchildren, Steve Cox, Gary Cox, April Widener, Sean Widener and Jeffrey Widener; seven grandchildren, Holley Burke, Sarah B. Kniphfer (Kraig), Jamie Burke, Bryar Troy Stewart, Branson Tyne Stewart, Zackary George Holley and Shelby M.
