Mrs. Ada Van “Missy” Warren Osborne
Mrs. Ada Van “Missy” Warren Osborne, 77, of Swainsboro entered into rest on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, in Swainsboro.
Mrs. Osborne was a native of Burke County. She attended public schools of Burke County and was the widow of the late Frank Osborne. She was a member of the Canaan Galilee Baptist Church and for a few years worked as a custodian at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at noon at Canaan Galilee Baptist Church. Burial was in the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society Cemetery, Louisville, with Rev. Robert Stokes officiating.
Survivors include her children, Elaine (Sammie) Glover and Arthur Wade Osborne, all of Swainsboro; eight grandchildren, Kelvin Osborne, Louisville, Fredrick Osborne, Patrick Lordge, Sherka Osborne, Hoyt Hollins III, John Glover and Terria Glover, all of Swainsboro, Shaunita Smith of Hawaii; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Bernice Hunley and Susie Ponder, both of Louisville, Tressie Jenkins of Hephzibah, and Cleveland Seafus of Blythe; and cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Macy Avrett Reese
Mrs. Macy Avrett Reese, 97, of Augusta entered into rest on June 2, 2010, at University Hospital.
Born in Wrens, Mrs. Reese had lived in Augusta since 1930 and was the daughter of the late John Hyman and Ida Montgomery Avrett. Mrs. Reese was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel, with Rev. Wade Trimmer and Rev. Bill Reese officiating. Interment followed at West View Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, William Talbot Reese Sr.
Survivors include her sons, Rev. Bill Reese (Fannie), North Augusta, S.C., Toby Reese (Mary), Augusta; daughter, Darlyn Greene (Tom), Augusta; grandchildren, Lt. Col. Donald Reese (Mary), Ozark, Mo., Sharon Willis, Augusta, Susan Burgess (Tony), North Augusta, S.C., Faith Smith (Dan), North Augusta, S.C., William T. Greene III (Davida), Lawrenceville, Elizabeth Hostetler, Augusta, and John A. Greene (Jennifer), Augusta; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Don Reese, Tony Burgess, Dan Smith, Tom Greene, Will Greene and Tony Greene.

Mr. John Lee Rouse
Mr. John Lee Rouse of Augusta entered into rest on Friday, May 28, 2010, at University Hospital.
Mr. Rouse, a native of Jefferson County, was a 1961 graduate of Lucy Laney High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed at Sizemore Security as a security guard at St. John Towers.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 4, 2010, at 11 a.m. at B.A. Williams Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Dennis Dunbar officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Memorial Garden.
Survivors include his son, Juan Rouse, Augusta; mother, Mary Rouse, Augusta; one sister, Gloria (James) Quarterman, Augusta; three brothers, Curtis (Bessie) Rouse, Clarksville, Tenn., Gardell (Lucy) Rouse and Alvin Rouse, all of Augusta; aunt, Falbie Lee Story, Wrens; and a host of other relatives.

Mrs. Quida Anne Storey, 90, of Augusta entered into rest on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Trinity Hospital.
Mrs. Storey was the wife of the late Frank T. Storey. Mrs. Storey was a native of Wrens, and lifelong resident of Augusta.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 4, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors, with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Storey was preceded in death by her husband; and daughters, Dianne Storey and Cindy Storey.
Survivors include her daughters, Martha Robinson and Janis Leftwich (Mercer), all of Augusta; sisters, Bettie Yonker and Ruth Reaves, both of Augusta; grandchildren, Vickie Walker (Sonny), Teresa King (Don), Brenda Edwards (Mike), Jackie Cook (Kevin), Tina Fulcher, Michelle Busbee (James), Mercer Leftwich III, Candi King (Robert) and Rich Rogers; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Harry Glen Veal
Mr. Harry Glen Veal, 84, of Louisville entered into rest on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Veal was born in Johnson County, the son of the late Robert Lee Veal and the late Lillie Waller Veal. He was retired from the J.P. Stevens Company as manager of the Dye House. Mr. Veal was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Louisville since 1962 where he served as a Deacon, a former Men’s Sunday School Class teacher and a member of the church brotherhood.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Louisville, with Rev. Hardy Owens and Ralph Veal officiating. A graveside committal service was held at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church cemetery in Washington County, with Rev. James Veal officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Carllene Sumner Veal of Louisville; son, Jeff Veal (Mary) of Atlanta; daughters, Jo Veal and Judy Veal Rice, both of Atlanta, Jane Veal Bedingfield (Barry) of Conyers, and Jean Veal Miller (Neal) of Stapleton; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; bother, Tobie Veal (Inez) of Wrightsville; and sisters Kate Veal Ivey and Emmie Veal Bray, both of Wrightsville, Hazel Veal Kyzer (Jack) of Hephzibah, Rubye Veal Holland of Brewton, and Eloise Veal Ogburn (Bonnie) of Swainsboro.

Mrs. Lillian Ola Lewis Berry, 85, of Sandersville entered into rest on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Berry was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Jewell K. Lewis and the late Annie M. Lewis. She was the wife of the late Jack A. Berry. Mrs. Berry was a homemaker and a member of the Poplar Springs Christian Church.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010, in the Brownwood Cemetery, with Rev. Redding Hodges III officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie R. McDade of Milledgeville, and Charlotte B. Richbourg of Sandersville; two sons, Larry D. Berry of Milledgeville, and Lewis A. Mr. Herbert Bradham, 88, of Waynesboro entered into rest on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Burke Medical Center.
Mr. Bradham was a native of Jenkins County and a longtime resident of Waynesboro. He was a member of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church and was retired from the Burke County Road Department. He was a United States Army veteran.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at 3 p.m. at the Joiner Anderson Saxon Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Keith Alderman officiating.
He was preceded in death by his son, George Herbert Bradham; stepson, Chris Scott Hickman; great-grandson, Ty Suchnick; grandson, Scott Hickman; and one sister and four brothers.

Mrs. Ruby Marritt Cheeks, 84, of Louisville entered into rest on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.
A native of Washington County, Mrs. Cheeks was a daughter of the late Tom and Ellen Johnson Marritt. She was a homemaker and member of Davisboro Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Louisville United Methodist Church, with Rev. David Hibberts, Rev. Beau Taylor and Rev. David Boggs officiating. Burial followed in the Davisboro City Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Ellen Johnson Marritt; husband, John Thomas Cheeks; and two sisters, Christine Holton and Annie Burt Simpson.

He retired from Overnight Transportation after 37 years of service, and he was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Jennings officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sara Headrick.

Services for Gary Alan Mihalik, 58, of East Dublin were held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Brewton Baptist Church, Rev. Kelly Maddox officiating. Burial followed in Brewton Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Mihalik was the son of the late Adolph Mihalik and the late Edna Taylor Mihalik. Mr. Mihalik was the utilities director for the City of Wadley. He was a member of the Georgia Rural Water Association and he was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Brown-Mihalik of East Dublin; son, Michael Mihalik of East Dublin; daughter, Karley Mihalik of East Dublin; sister, Denise M. Sullivan of Portland, Ore.; brother, Ron Mihalik of Miami, Fla.; stepsons, Eli Brown (Christy) of East Dublin, Mitchell Brown (Danielle) of East Dublin, and Roby Brown (Jordie) of Jacksonville, Ala.; grandsons, Christopher Brown of East Dublin, Emory Brown of East Dublin, Parker Brown of East Dublin, and Matthew Brown of Jacksonville, Ala.

Mr. Robert Lee Nicholson
Mr. Robert Lee Nicholson, 64, of Manila entered into rest on Monday, May 31, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Nicholson was born to the parents of the late Orange and Leona Nicholson of Jackson, Ala., Clarke County, on Dec. 27, 1945. He was a member of the Little Burrah Baptist Church in Manila, where he served on the Usher Board and as a church custodian. Mr. Nicholson was a member of the Harper High Class of 1965.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Little Burrah Baptist Church, with Rev. William Jackson officiating. Internment was in the Rowland cemetery in Manila.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Catherine Montgomery; and brothers, Percy Nicholson and Samuel Nicholson.
Survivors include three sisters, Louise (Rufus) Scott of Walker Springs, Ala., Dorothy Mae Tucker of Jackson, Ala., and Mary (Richard) Murray of Wrens; one brother, Madison Nicholson of Jackson, Ala.; niece, Cathy Jackson; cousin, George Phillips; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
