Mr. Curtis Tarver, 60, of Wadley entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010.

Mr. Tarver was a native of Jefferson County and attended Jefferson County Public School before moving to Belle Glade, Fla. He returned to Wadley in 1968.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Brinson Hill Baptist Church, Wadley.

Survivors include his children, Dorothea Thompson and Sophia Thompson, both of Belle Grade, Fla.; four grandchildren, Travis Brown, Li’Trell Dukes, LyBrittany Myrick and Ber’Anna Myrick, all of Belle Glade, Fla.; sisters and brothers, Rebecca Jones of Miami, Fla., Lena Mae Bridges and Edward (Martha) Walden of Jacksonville, Fla., Johnnie Mae Walden of Wadley, Annette (Willie) Henry of Mobile, Ala., Gwen (Larry) Clark of Twin City, Barney (Roxanne) Walden of Harrisburg, Dorma (Lamar) Mullins and Mary Banks, all of Belle Glade, Fla.; aunt and uncle, Mildred Lewis of Harrisburg, Pa., and Jack (Laura) Walden of Augusta; nieces; nephew, Rhonda (Carl) Bennett of Wadley; friend, Estella Jordan of Wadley; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mable J. (Story) Terrell
Mrs. Mable J. (Story) Terrell of Decatur entered into rest on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010.

Mrs. Terrell was a native of Jefferson County, born on Oct. 14, 1943.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Little Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Decatur.

Survivors include five children, Wendell, Reginald, Nathaniel and Bonita Terrell of Atlanta, and Sandra Terrell of Houston, Texas; two sisters, five brothers, three stepsisters, three stepbrothers; three aunts; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other friends and relatives.

Mrs. Myra Lee Snellgrove Bishop
Mrs. Myra Lee Snellgrove Bishop, 102, of Midville entered into rest on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley.

A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Bishop was a daughter of the late Levi Edward and Minnie Cowart Snellgrove. She was a longtime member of Hines Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, and was a homemaker.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Hines Baptist Church, with Rev. Donald Brett and Rev. Randy Waldon officiating. Burial followed in the Bishop Chapel cemetery in Summertown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi Edward and Minnie Cowart Snellgrove; her husband of 48 years, Arthur M. Bishop Sr.; son, Arthur Manson Bishop Jr.; brother, John W. Snellgrove; sister, Mollie J. Drew; and grandson, Charles E. Funderburk Jr.

Survivors include son, Edward Franklin Bishop of Midville; daughters, Joan B. (Charles) Funderburk of Swainsboro, and Grace (Bobby) Faglier of Louisville; grandchildren, Libby Mathis of Milledgeville, Patricia Marsh of Milledgeville, Susan D. Frost of Louisville, Bobby W. Faglier Jr. of Carterville, Ill., Betty Jo Hall of Midville, Amy Duboise of Swainsboro, and Michael S. Faglier of Grovetown; great-grandchildren, David Frost of Atlanta, Tiffany Frost of Jacksonville, Fla., Kelly Frost of Louisville, Clay Mathis of Augusta, Amber Duboise of Swainsboro, Kristen Duboise of Walnut Creek, Calif., Jeffery Hall of Midville, Jennifer Johnson of Garfield, Ryan Hunter Faglier of Grovetown, Lily Nicole Faglier of Carteville, Ill., and Heather Mullis of Albany; great-great-grandchildren, Caleb Mathis and Randon Durdun; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were grandsons, and great-grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Hines Baptist Church.

Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sarah Nell Hall
Mrs. Sarah Nell Hall, 70, of Wadley entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Hall was born in Emanuel County and had lived there for 32 years. She was a final inspector in the textile industry, and a member of the Coleman’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Coleman’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Pat Holbert officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Cliff Hall of Wadley; two sons, Greg Hall (Pam) of Swainsboro, and Ronald Hall (Wanda) of Gibson; three grandchildren, Mike, Casey and Makayla Hall; two great-granddaughters, Zuri Hall and Addie Smith; a brother, Steely Edenfield of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Pat Edenfield of Wadley; and several nieces and nephews.

Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Patricia Hamilton
Mrs. Patricia Hamilton, 55, of Louisville entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, in an automobile accident.

Mrs. Hamilton was born Aug. 17, 1955, in Homerville, but had lived in Louisville most of her life. She was a daughter of Betty Sue Hill Hamilton and the late Marshall Edward Hamilton. She was a 1973 graduate of Louisville High School, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Louisville City Cemetery, with Rev. Hardy Owens officiating.

Survivors include her daughter, Shana Love (Jackson Cherry) of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; mother, Betty Sue Hill Hamilton of Louisville; brothers, Eddie (Joyce) Hamilton of Summertown, and Doug Hamilton of Louisville; grandson, Owen Thomas Cherry of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; and two nieces, Crissy and Kimberly.

Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gladys Usry Irby
Mrs. Gladys Usry Irby, 93, of Gibson entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center, Gibson.

Mrs. Irby was a native of Glascock County, and lived here all of her life. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Thermo King Corporation.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Donald Lumpkin officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil F. Irby; parents, Ed and Alice Usry; two sisters, Mary Culver and Sarah Usry; and two brothers, Lester Usry and Benny Evens.

Survivors include her son, Reggie Irby (Priscilla); two grandsons, Dana and Brian Irby; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Gracie, Lorelei and Bailey.

Pallbearers were Dana Irby, Thomas Beckworth, Paul Beckworth, Danny Beckworth, Bruce Culver and Jamey Hadden.

Memorials may be made to the Brian Irby Cancer Fund in care of Sheppard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 246, Gibson, GA 30810.

Mrs. Mamie Lizzie Gibson McCoy
Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Lizzie Gibson McCoy, 77, of Warrenton were held on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Williams Grove Baptist Church, Mitchell, with Pastor Rev. Golden Lott as eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include five daughters, Audrey Harlemon, Thomson, Gwendolyn Kitchens, Evans, Bridgette Gibson, Joplin, Mich., Christoria (Oliver) McNair and Miranda Gibson (Curtis), all of Warrenton; two sons, Bishop Terry (Patricia) Gibson, Warrenton, and Tirrell (Yvonne) Gibson, Augusta; stepson, Steve McCoy, Augusta; six sisters, Catherine (Ezel) Scott, Gladys (Columbus) Jackson, Jensie (Paul) McConico, Mable Morse, all of Warrenton, Mertis Cheely and Carolyn Willis, both of Burlington, N.C.; one brother, Rev. Jacob (Lula) Cheely, Warrenton; a sister-in-law, Annie Cheely, Sparta; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; cousin, Tempie Moore, Mitchell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Emily Abigail Delacruz-Gates
Infant Emily Abigail Delacruz-Gates of Wrens entered into rest on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at the Burke County Medical Center.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at the Wrens Memorial Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph James Gates; and her maternal grandmother, Betty L. Gates.

Survivors include her parents, Barbara Jean Gates and Fermin Delacruz; brother, Fermin Bobby Delacruz; sister, Amanda Gates; maternal grandfather, Bobby Joe Gates; paternal grandparents, Maria Feliz Aguilar and Pacifico Delacruz; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

James Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jack McGraw
Mr. Jack McGraw, 78, of Louisville entered into rest on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

A native of Louisville, Mr. McGraw was a son of the late Melton M. and Leona Newsome McGraw. He was a 1952 graduate of Louisville Academy, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Louisville Lions Club, and was employed with The News and Farmer/The Jefferson Reporter as a courier. He was also partner with Clara Lamb in their greenhouse business Backyard Greenhouse selling flowers, boiling peanuts and frying pecans.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Louisville United Methodist Church, with Rev. David Hibberts, Rev. Walter Holmes and Rev. Hardy Owens officiating. Burial followed in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth Jean McGraw; son, Richard McGraw; brother, Jerry McGraw; and a grandson, Lonnie McGraw Davis.

Survivors include his companion, Clara Lamb of Louisville; sons, Mitchell (Nancy) McGraw of Louisville, Jason (Wanda) McGraw of Louisville, Kevin Whittenberger of Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Taunya (Joe) Johns of Stapleton; extended family, Frank and Carol Jackson of Washington, David and Ann McNeely of Louisville, Ricky and Becky Epting of Louisville, Buddy and Jennifer Lamb of Wadley, Bill and Katie Lamb of Lincolnton and Alvey Lamb of Matthews; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were William Hadden, Parish Howard, David Irwin, Tim Williams, Bill Lamb, Mark McGraw and Larry Rhodes.

Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Lamb, Alvey Lamb, Eugene “Peewee” Cunningham, Mickey Stewart, John Martin, Bill Snider and members of the Louisville Lions Club.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Louisville Lions Club, P.O. Box 441, Louisville, GA 30434, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Mr. Carroll Gary Rhodes
Mr. Carroll Gary Rhodes of Louisville entered into rest on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at the Downtown Division of the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta.

Born to the late Bessie Daniels Rhodes and the late Arthur Gary Rhodes in Avera, Mr. Rhodes was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He was an entrepreneur, owning and operating a camouflage clothing manufacturing company. He earned master degrees in theology and engineering, was a member of Gibson Masonic Lodge No. 257 and served his country during the Korean War.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at the James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Donald Lumpkin officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Avera.

He was preceded in death by wife, Allene Underwood Rhodes.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Black Wilcher Rhodes; daughter, Cindy Joiner (Ronald) of Augusta; two stepsons, Dean Wilcher and Bob Wilcher of Acworth; a sister, Betty Calhoun of Wadley; six grandchildren, Aron Hunley of Lawrenceville, D. Wilcher of Athens, Brandon Smith of Atlanta, Christy Hendricks of Atlanta, Dean Wilcher Jr. and Amy W. Howard; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Hunley and Jessica Hunley.

Pallbearers were Ben Cooper, Bryan Cooper, Britt Cooper, Andy Calhoun, Mike Fortenderry, Michael Howard, Jimmy Miller and Morris Pruitt.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Gibson Masonic Lodge No. 257.

Mrs. Mary Brassell Walden
Mrs. Mary Brassell Walden, 86, of Gibson entered into rest on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Trinity Hospital, Augusta.

Mrs. Walden was a Baptist by faith and a native of Glascock County. She worked at Kents Canning Company in Gibson and Lilly Cup in Augusta.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Sheppard Funeral Home Chapel, Gibson, with Rev. Herman Walden and Rev. Bill Seaman officiating. Interment followed in the Gibson City Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ginger Holbrook; parents, Sallie Allen and Willie Brassell; two sisters, Martha Elizabeth Jackson and Florie Langham; and a brother, Ed Brassell.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, George Thomas Walden; two grandchildren, Leonna (Billy) Chalker, Lindsey and Clay (Layla Ledbetter) Holbrook, five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brantley, Briona, Bianca and Brock Mason; four brothers, Lee Brassell and Gene Brassell, both of Augusta, Jack Brassell of Marietta, and Lloyd Brassell of Gibson.

Pallbearers were Brady Brassell, Mike Lyons, Jeff McGahee, Steven Usry, James Hawkins and Lynn Brady Reese.

Memorials may be made to the Glascock County Concerned Citizens, in care of Corene Chalker, 3037 Bastonville Road, Gibson, GA 30810.

Mr. L. F. Anderson Jr.
Mr. L. F. Anderson Jr., 74, of Augusta entered into rest on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at VA Medical Center.

Mr. Anderson was born in Augusta on Sept. 4, 1936, to the late L.F. and Myrtle Cox Anderson Sr. He was a retired plumber.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Rev. Ed Chance officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lanelle C. Anderson.

Survivors include his sisters, Geraldine Hughes of Matthews, Shirley Padgett of Hephzibah, and Barbara Bruce of Hartwell.

Pallbearers were his nephews.

Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.
