Harry L. “Mac” McTier
Mr. Harry L. “Mac” McTier of North Augusta, SC, died Friday, May 25, 2007.

Mr. McTier, a native of Jefferson County, lived in North Augusta for the past 50 years.

He was a member of Imanuel Baptist Church, a US Army veteran, a member of the American Legion and retired from Lilly Tulip Company.

The funeral was May 29 at 11 a.m. at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Coyle officiating. Burial with veterans honors was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha T. McTier; two sons, Chris McTier, North Augusta, and Mike McTier, Augusta; a foster daughter, Misty Williams, Salem, Ala.; two sisters, Geneva McTier, Augusta, and Mary McTier, North Augusta; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were David Mc- Tier, Ty McTier, Jace McTier, Shane McTier, John McTier, Lyndy McTier and Jimmy McTier.

Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home of North Augusta was in charge of the arrangements.

Grady Means
Mr. Grady Means, 81, of Louisville died Tuesday, May 22, 2007.

Mr. Means was a member of Waldens United Methodist Church. He was a retired self-employed welder.

The funeral was May 25 at 11 a.m. at James Funeral Home with Dr. B.R. Martin and the Rev. Donnie Barrett officiating. Burial was in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ruth Means; a daughter, Karen (Nelson) Hunter; a very special granddaughter, Melanie Hunter; and a sister, Loutrell Edenfield.

Pallbearers were Bryan Davis, Eddie Martin, Buford Manning, David Sheppard, Mike Means and Terry Means.

Honorary Pallbearers were Billy Lamb, Gary Rhodes, Jim McAlister, Glynn Wallace and the Ingles Breakfast Club.

Memorials may be made to Seekers Relay for Life, c/o Diane Rhodes, 2771 Hwy. 102, Wrens, GA 30833.

James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Anna Chalker May
Mrs. Mary Anna Chalker May, 82, of Martinez died Sunday, May 27, 2007.

Mrs. May, a native of Gibson, resided in Augusta for the past 62 years.

She attended Martha Berry College in Rome.

She was a homemaker and a substitute teacher for numerous Richmond County schools, a secretary for the Academy of Richmond County High School and retired as school secretary for the Vocational Educational Department of the Academy of Richmond County High School.

She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where she was a member of the French Bible Class and the Choir.

The funeral was May 29 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gerald Varner and Dr. Phillip May officiating. Burial was in Westover Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Ellis May Sr.; her daughter, Anna Marie (Tom) Spain, Augusta; sons, Rev. Dr. Phillip (Delaine) May, Rome, Paul E. (Lori) May Jr., North Augusta; a brother, Billy Chalker, Gibson; a sister, Mildred Gifford, Snellville; and grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tim Chalker, Al Gifford, Dr. John Darden, Milton Chalker, Danny Glover, Michael Curley, Stan Brassell and Ralph Gifford Jr.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2367 Washington Rd., Augusta, GA 30904.

Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors, Augusta, were in charge of the arrangements.

Paul Usry
Mr. Paul Usry, 70, of Gibson died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Gibson Health and Rehab Center.

Mr. Usry, a native and lifelong resident of Glascock County, was the son of the late Buddy C. Usry and Lizzie Sue Morgan Usry.

He was the retired owner of Paul Usry Trucking and Logging, and attended Jordan Chapel Church of God.

The funeral was May 27 at 3 p.m. at Jordan Chapel Church of God with the Revs. David O. Jones and Al Kurtz officiating.

Burial was in the Gibson First Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Wells Usry; two sons, Darrell (Kathy) Usry and Timmy (Linda) Usry; three brothers, Charles Usry and Terry Usry, Gibson, and Isaac Usry, Stapleton; two sisters, Mildred Barrow, Wrens, and Margie Reese, Gibson; four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jarrell Sammons, Donnell Usry Jr., Gary Usry, Willie Overstreet, Scott Usry, Greg Black, Mark Wells and Larry Blair.

Honorary pallbearers were J.L. Chalker, Hubert Pulliam, Bobby Jones, Jim McMichael, Wells McCorkle Sr., Mike Neal, David Bales, J.H. Usry and Clifford Boone.

Memorials may be made to United Hospice, 2604 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909; or to the Glascock County Concerned Citizens, c/ o Mrs. Corene Chalker, 3037 Bastonville Rd., Gibson, GA 30810.

Hazel Brown
Mrs. Hazel Brown, 80, of Wrens died Friday, May 11, 2007.

The funeral was May 17 at 2 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church with the Rev. Carios Newton Sr. officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Helen Knight, Augusta, Joyce Stone and Carrie Kelly, both of Wrens; six sons, Leotis Brown, Edward Brown Roger Lee Brown, Roy Brown, Dennis Brown and Jessie Brown; two sisters, Lola Mae Roberts and Eddie Mae Daniels; 31 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.

Burnett Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Michael Clark
Mr. Michael Clark, 26, of Stapleton died Sunday, May 20, 2007.

Mr. Clark was a carpenter.

Memorial services were held May 23 at 6 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy White offi ciating. Survivors include his wife, Amanda Clark; two daughters, Mikayla and Allyanna Clark; and a son, Shaun Clark; his mother, Julie Clark; his father, Reeves Huffman Jr.; a brother, Timmy Silas Jr.; maternal grandparents, Ray and Jimmie Clark; and paternal grandparents, Jean Gibson and Bobby Braswell.

Memorials may be made to James Funeral Home, P.O. Box 588, Wrens, GA 30833. James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Laura Peebles Guy
Mrs. Laura Peebles Guy, 86, of Gibson died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Guy, a native of Glascock County, was the daughter of the late Felix Peebles and Mattie Logue Peebles. She retired as a seamstress at Stapleton Garment and Garland Manufacturing Company. She was a volunteer for the Glascock County Senior Citizens Center and was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.

The funeral was May 18 at 3 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Key officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Thomas “Tommy” Guy, Hephzibah and Cicero (Martha) Guy, Gibson; four daughters, Jessie G. (David “Scottie”) Cole, Gibson, Janie G. Goolsby, Lincolnton, Ellen G. (Harold) Meeks, Tennille, and Susan G. (Cliff) Hobbs, Gibson; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons Michael Cole, Guy Cole, Charles Allen, Everett Guy, Lane Hadden and David Tompkins.

Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1899 Central Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.

Sarah Sybil Clark
Mrs. Sarah Sybil Clark Todd, 85, of Augusta died Saturday, May 19, 2007.

Mrs. Todd was a member of New Hope Church of God Worship Center.

The funeral was May 23 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Marion Jay officiating and the Rev. Guy Campbell assisting and Yvonne Bonnie Todd as eulogist. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include her children, Melvin (Lollie Dell) Todd, Gibson, Judy (JR) Moreland, Martinez, Colleen (David) Pinkston, Owensboro, Ky., Yvonne Bonnie Todd, Augusta, and Rev. Wayne (Nancy) Todd, Augusta; a sister, Mattie Smith, Avera; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jimmy James, Curtis James, Matthew Todd, Bobby Ewing, Andy Allen and Paul Rogers.

Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Augusta, was in charge of the arrangements.

Chloe Olivia
Little Miss Chloe Olivia Thompson died May 7, 2007.

Graveside services were held May 10 at 10 a.m. at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Abraham Gibbons officiating.

Survivors include her mother, Latasha Durden and her father, Clifford Thompson Jr., both of Louisville; maternal grandmother, Juanita Grant Durden; paternal grandparents, Clifford and Emma Lee Thompson, Louisville; aunts, Jacqueline Tennyson, Gloria Thompson, Deon Durden, Louisville, Glenda (Barry) Walker, Macon, Latonya (Jeff) Durden, Augusta, and Arnita (Calvin) Rainwater, Atlanta; and several other relatives.

Jessie Willis Jones Sr.
Mr. Jessie Willis Jones Sr., 82, of Louisville died Friday, May 18, 2007, at Select Specialty Hospital.

Mr. Jones was a US Army veteran of World War II and was a company commander National Guard Unit of Washington.

He was retired as chief fireman at Ft. Gordon and was a member of First Baptist Church in Louisville where he served as a deacon for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Holley Jones; a daughter, Deborah (Gary) Webb; a son, Willis (Katherine) Jones; two sisters, Betty Gordy and Doris Hoffman; and a brother, Jimmy Jones; and six grandchildren. Pallbearers were Terry Holley, Mike Holley, Ronald Norton, Greg Holley, Dennis Holley, Gary Gay and Glenn Gordy.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons of First Baptist Church of Louisville.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Louisville Building Fund, 101 East 9th Street, Louisville, GA 30434.

Frances Rowland Love
Mrs. Frances Rowland Love, 90, of Louisville died Saturday, May 19, 2007.

Mrs. Love was a member of Louisville United Methodist Church.

The funeral was May 21 at 1 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Beau Taylor officiating.

Burial was in the Louisville City Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Love Sr.; two sons, Kenneth Rowland Love Jr., Medford, Or., and Pete Love of Savannah; one daughter, Frances Paterson, Hiawassee; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dennis “DJ” Miller
Dennis “DJ” Miller, 14, of Matthews died Sunday, May 20, 2007.

Dennis was a seventh grade student at Wrens Middle School.

The funeral was May 23 at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charlie Pennington officiating. Burial was in Wrens Memorial Garden.

Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Linda Miller; two sisters, Jessica (Eric) Rowland and Amanda Clark; a brother, Steve Miller; maternal great-grandmother, Elizabeth Huff; and paternal grandmother, Maggie Turner.

Pallbearers were Eric Rowland, Chris Miller, Bryan Newsome, Justin Rowland, Charles Haynes, Matt Mc- Clain and Barry Arrington.

Honorary pallbearers were the seventh grade students of Wrens Middle School.
