Mrs. Julia Lee Flonnory, 71, Wadley departed this life at University Hospital, Augusta.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 8, 2008, at 4:30 p.m. at the Pierce Grove Baptist Church and Cemetery.
Mrs. Flonnory was a native of Jefferson County, a member of the Pierce Grove Baptist Church and a retired CNA at Glendale Nursing Home.
Survivors include her son, Roger Lee (Annie Hill) Heggs of Wadley; sisters and brothers, Willie Mae Heggs and Mae Frances Heggs of Wadley, Louise Heggs of Massachussetts, Alice Heggs of Louisville, Ed (Alice) Heggs of Bartow and Johnnie Heggs of California; her grandchildren, Roger Gilmore of Atlanta and Regina Gilmore of Wadley; great-grandchildren, Kydon Gilmore, Raewon Cuyler, Savion Tennyson, Rogerick Gilmore of Wadley; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Annie Ruth Flonnory of Bartow, and Issac Flonnory of Delaware; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Corinne Davis Kitchens
Mrs. Corinne Davis Kitchens, 87, of Boca Raton, Fla. entered into rest Friday, May 30, 2008, at the Manor Care Nursing Home, Boca Raton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Mitchell United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Ann Braswell officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Kitchens was a native of Lincolnton and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Cecil H. Kitchens; and her parents, David A. and Carrie Nash Davis.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Ulman of Boca Raton and Joy Kitchens of Coronado, Calif.; one son, Henry (Joyce) of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Christine Geeter of Augusta; one sister-in-law, Florence Downs of Mitchell; three grandsons, Christopher Ullman, Chris Huffman and Mike Huffman; one granddaughter, Lisa (David) Hayman; and one great-grandson, Sean Ullman.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence of Thomas and Carol Downs, Mitchell.

Mr. Sammie Lamb
Mr. Sammie Lamb entered into rest on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Heartland Hospice. Coach Lamb was a native of Louisville. He was a 1947 graduate of Louisville Academy and a 1952 graduate of Middle Georgia College. He later earned his education degree at Georgia Southern University. Before graduating from college, he joined the Navy for two years where he was involved in the Berlin airlift and played sports on armed forces teams. While in the Navy, his team won the Military Air Transport Football Championship. He began his coaching career at Emanuel County Institute and went on to coach at Wadley High School, LBC and the Academy of Richmond County (1966-1983). After retiring as athletic director at ARC, he coached teams at the Columbia County Recreation Department, Briarwood Academy and Thomas Jefferson Academy. His coaching career included football, baseball, basketball, tennis and track. Coach Lamb was a member of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association and a member of Marvin United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Louisville United Methodist Church with Rev. Chuck Hodges officiating. Burial followed in Louisville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle Senn Lamb of Grovetown; his sons, Pound (Liz) Lamb of Nashville, Tenn., and Richmond (Heather) Lamb of Atlanta; daughters, Nancy Lamb of Augusta and the late Bufort Lamb McNeely; grandchildren, Clay and Anna; brother, Ray (Linda) Lamb of Commerce.

Mrs. Willie Ann Hannah Patrick, 67, of Glenside, Pa. and formerly of Jefferson County (Avera), died Friday, May 23, 2008.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Beloved Baptist Church, Philadelphia, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Mae Wright Hannah and Willie Horace Hannah Sr.; and daughter, Karla Patrick.
Survivors include Dwain Patrick, Glenside; five sisters, Ida H. Ghee, Evon Hannah, Philadelphia, Pa., Mary L. Crum, Dorothy H. Mrs. Janie Lafavor Prescott
Mrs. Janie Lafavor Prescott, 98, of Plantation, Fla. died Saturday, May 24, 2008.
Mrs. Prescott was born April 12, 1910 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam (Lula) Lafavor in Matthews. She was the 11th child out of 12. At an early age, she joined Flat Rock Baptist Church. She moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in the 1930s. There she became a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and served until her health failed.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2008, at Flat Rock Baptist Church in Matthews, with Rev. Rufus Williams officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Prescott; her son, Robert Lafavor; and seven brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Barbara ?Vonnie? Russ; three great-grandchildren, Tanares, Patrice and Patrick; a number of great-great-grandchildren, all of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four nephews, Cute Cell Lafavor, Jerome Lafavor of Augusta, James Lafavor of Wrens, and Frank Lafavor of Louisville; one niece, Essie Prescott of Augusta; two great-nieces, Susie Fletcher and Claretha Curry of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a host of great- and great-great-nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Zaydell “Dell” Braddock, 67, entered into rest Sunday, June 1, 2008, at her residence in Louisville.
Mrs. Braddock was a native of Burke County. She was retired from Kendall Company. She was the wife of Pleas Braddock and the daughter of the late Judson Howard and Lillian Todd Howard.
Survivors include a son, David Mark Braddock, Augusta; a daughter, Christy (Randy) Dunbar, Augusta; three sisters, Juanita (Arthur) Glover, Augusta, Doris Marsh, Wrens, and Yvonne Neades, Greenfield, S.C.; a brother Douglas Howard, Johannesburg, South Africa; two grandchildren, Billy Dunbar, Augusta, and Jessica Braddock, Louisville.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Jefferson Memorial Garden Cemetery, with Billy Wheeler officiating.

Mrs. Dorothy Braddy Harmon of Louisville departed this life Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.

Mrs. Harmon was a native of Jefferson County, a member of the New Hope AME Church and retired from Thermo King Corp.

Isaiah “Ike” Hudson, 90, of Wrens entered into rest on Saturday, May 31, 2008.
Mr. Hudson was born in Matthews in Jefferson County to the late Lewis and Vallie Beasley Hudson. He retired from Georgia Tennessee Mining Company.

Johnny Ray Knight
Johnny Ray Knight, 47, of Midville entered into rest at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, Miss., on Tuesday, June 3, 2008.
A private service will be held at the Wadley City cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Knight was born Oct. 15, 1960 to the late Martha Sue and James Knight of Midville. He attended Bartow Academy and was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson Academy in Louisville. He spent his early years growing up at Colemans Lake in Midville. Mr. Knight worked at several construction and grading companies as a carpenter and heavy machine operator.
He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Knight; his mother, Martha Sue Knight; and his grandparents, Dan and Grace Moore.
Survivors include his daughter, Johnna (Joey) Raines of Wadley; grandson, Zach Raines of Wadley; his sister, Mary Knight of Macon; aunts and uncles Hubert and Barbara Knight of Millen and Virgil and Betty Choates of Midville; and a niece, Amanda (Ricky) Knowles of Sandersville.

Sara Wilcher Murray-Pinkston
Mrs. Sara Wilcher Murray-Pinkston, 91, of Mitchell entered into rest Sunday, June 1, 2008, at her residence under the care of United Hospice.
The Warren County native was a member of the Second Mineral Springs Missionary Baptist Church where she served as president of Usher’s Board, Missionary Treasurer, and Mother of the Church. Mrs. Pinkston was a retired factory worker and a companion sitter.
The funeral services for Mrs. Pinkston were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at the Second Mineral Springs Missionary Baptist Church, Mitchell, with the Rev. Robert Lee Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include a sister, adopted daughter, a daughter-in-law, three granddaughters, one grandson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Virginia Sue Burke Rayburn
Virginia Sue Burke Rayburn formerly of Greensboro passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008.
Mrs. Rayburn was born in Wrens on May 22, 1941, to Mildred Jernigan Burke and the late Roy F. Burke Sr. She graduated from Greensboro High School in 1959 and attended GSCW in Milledgeville and has lived in Blythe for the past 10 years.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Roy F. Burke Jr.; and a brother-in-law, D. J. Epps.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Rayburn Sr.; one son, Ken (Valerie) Rayburn Jr. of Hephzibah; two daughters, Laura (Steve) Mahrt of LaGrande, Ore.; and Jenny (James) Combs of Hillsboro, Ore.; one granddaughter, Kayla Rayburn of Hephzibah; one sister, Jane Burke Epps of Greensboro; her mother, Mildred Burke of Boswell Parker Nursing Home, Greensboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Lois Purvis Shepard
Lois Purvis Shepard, 90, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 3, 2008.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Brown Shepard; two sons, George Timothy Faircloth and David Stewart Faircloth; a grandson, William Marvin Faircloth III; her parents, Tom Alfred Timothy Purvis and Luella Stewart Purvis; five siblings, Clara Beatrice Mimbs, Ada Sumner, Leotha Shepard, Allegra Riner and Ernest Purvis and three cats, Snow, frank and Mollie.
She was a native of Emanuel County, where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Metter High School and attended college in Milledgeville. She lived and worked in Georgia and Florida and returned to settle in Swainsboro. She worked with the United States Postal service as both a star and rural mail route carrier. She retired from the United States Postal Service in Twin City at 75.
As a member of Hawhammock Baptist Church for more than 30 years, Mrs. Shepard was a Sunday school teacher.
Funeral services were held at the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 7. Rev. Louis Pearce, Mrs. Shepard’s pastor for over 30 years, officiated at the service. Internment was at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Laurens County. Tomlinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, William Marvin Faircloth Jr. of Midville, Michael (Peggy) Purvis Shepard of Lawrenceville, and Rev. Thomas (Lawanda) M. Shepard of Collins; three step-sons, Benny Joe Shepard of Cartersville, Gerald Shepard of Senoia and Jimmy (Becky) Shepard of Morrow; and one step-daughter, Connie Griffin of Opelika, Ala.; 10 grandchildren including Ann Atkinson, Wesley Shepard, Millie Shepard and Brooks Clark; several great-grandchildren, including Michael Atkinson, Scott Atkinson, Will Atkinson, Kristen Faircloth and Emily Clark; one great-great-grandchild, Isaiah Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
