Mr. Mario Antwan Thomas of Gibson died Thursday, May 29, 2008.

Funeral services were Saturday, June 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Glascock County Consolidated High Gymnasium, Gibson, with Rev. Golden Lott, eulogist, and Rev. Larry Medlock officiating. Interment was in William Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother, Nancy Thomas, Gibson; his father, Henry Thomas Jr., Wrens; one son, Dontrayvis Antwan Thomson, Stapleton; one daughter, Aniyah Arian Thomas, Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, Terrence Thomas, Gibson; one sister, Yolonda Thomas, Augusta; maternal grandmother, Carrie Pinkston, Warrenton; paternal grandmother, Geneva Thomas, Matthews; and other relatives and friends.

Dawson’s Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ray Clark Jr.
Mr. Ray Clark Jr., 44, of Mitchell entered into rest Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center, Thomson.

Mr. Clark was a native of Richmond County but lived in Glascock County most of his life. He attended Mt. Nebo and was a Georgia Bulldog fan. He worked at the Burgess Pigment Company, Sandersville, as a lab technician.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008, at Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Lee Price officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Jimmie Rooks Chalker.

Survivors include his wife, Tracy Walden Clark; one daughter, Cristal Clark of Mitchell; his father, Ray Clark Sr. of Stapleton; three sisters, Janet Hall of Wrens, Julie Clark of Augusta, and Sheree Wyldes of Augusta.

Pallbearers were Gary Usry, Michael Gilmer, Jerry Hutcheson, Dwayne Lyons, David Logan, Jay Dixon, Timmy Usry and Lee Horton.

Honorary Pallbearers were the employees of Burgess Pigment Technical Lab.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Louise W. Faglier
Mrs. Louise W. Faglier, 96, of Avera entered into rest Friday, June 13, 2008, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mrs. Faglier was in Fellowship with Gospel Chapel. She was the wife of the late Roy L. Faglier and the daughter of the late Oscar Williams and Emma Sheppard Williams.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2008, at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Curtis Thigpen and Rev. Lester Clark officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Alma Faglier.

Survivors include her brother, M. L. Chalker, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a sister, Margurite “Doots” Raley, Avera; nieces, Mildred Palmer, Janice Dixon and Pamela Harmon; nephews, Michael Raley and Victor Raley.

Pallbearers were George Raley, Steve Newman, Michael Newman, Bobby Wright, Michael Dixon and Dennis Fordham.

James Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Zachary Louis Fowler
Mr. Zachary Louis Fowler, 22, of Gibson entered into rest Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, Macon.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008, at the Glascock County High School gym, with Rev. Jimmy Fowler and Dr. Gary Hadden officiating. Interment was in the Gibson First Baptist Church Cemetery, Gibson.

Mr. Fowler was a native of Richmond County, but lived most of his life in Glascock County. He was a member of the Gibson First Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the Glascock County 4-H Club.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. Alan and Angie Dye Fowler of Gibson; one brother, Jocob Fowler of Gibson; two sisters, Tori (Phillip) Fowler Wheeler of Gibson and Alisse Fowler of Gibson.

Pallbearers were Andrew Timm, Phillip Wheeler, Will Bramlett, David Bramlett, Ian Fowler and Eli Fowler.

Memorials may be made to the Glascock County 4-H Club, P.O. Box 68, Gibson, GA 30810 and the Glascock County Concerned Citizens, in care of Mrs. Corene Chalker, 3037 Bastonville Road, Gibson, GA 30810.

Mrs. Hattie Mae "March" Holloway
Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Mae “March” Holloway, 90, of Keysville were held on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Smith Grove Baptist Church, Wrens, with the Rev. Dr. W.L. Jones, presiding and the Rev. Tracy Brown, pastor, eulogist. Interment was in the churchyard cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Lee Floyd Murphy
Mrs. Sarah Lee Floyd Murphy of Wadley entered into rest on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at her residence in Wadley.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at 2 p.m. at San Clair Baptist Church in Wadley. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include six daughters, Ola Mae Murphy, Rutha (Ezee) Murphy, Sarah (Donald) Mitchell Sr., and Emma (Bobby) Padgett, Wadley, Frankie (George) Borom, St. Augustine, Fla., and Shirley (Benjamin) Bryson, Elkton, Fla.; two sons, Curtis Murphy, Jacksonville, Fla. and Robert Baker, Sebring, Fla.; two sisters, Ora B. Byrd, Louisville, and Annie Sherrod, Wadley; two brothers, Paul (Lucille) Floyd and Willie Floyd, St. Augustine, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Annie Bessie Murphy, Wadley; seven additional sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, 27 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers were Reginald Cooper, Corey Grace, Johnny Williams Jr., Marchavius Holmes Sr., Brian Pittman, Donald Mitchell Jr., Curtis Murphy II and Paul Brinson Sr.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James R. Price
Mr. James R. Price, 79, of Wadley departed this life Monday, June, 16, 2008, at a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held in the Live Oak Cemetery.

He was the son of the late Jessie Price Sr. and Mary Alice Monroe. Mr. Price was a native of Jefferson County and attended Jefferson County School System. He later moved to Macon for several years before returning in 1966 and work at L.A. Brett and Sons for over 15 years.

Survivors include his children, Ralph (Mary) Price and Janice Price of Wrightsville, Pearline Price, Janice Price and Mary Price of Macon, Melvin James Price of Atlanta; his siblings, Jessie (Willie Seal) Price, Philadelphia, Pa., George (Annie Mae) Price of Wadley, Martha Nell Price of Louisville, Ruby Nell Price of Bartow, Penny Flournoy of Bartow, Jessie Mae Johnson of Atlanta, Rosie Lee Mobydick of Philadelphia, Pa., Gwendolyn Morman of Aiken, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Price of Bartow; a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and other relatives and Friends.

Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Quinnette Yates Stevenson
Quinnette Yates Stevenson, 49, of Augusta entered into rest on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, after a severe bout with rare blood disorders called myelo fibrosis and cyclic chronic neuetrapenia.

Ms. Stevenson grew up in Madison, Ala., where she was active as a Girl Scout at Madison Methodist Church. She attended Bob Jones High School and served as a cheerleader 1972-1976. While holding a masters degree, she taught fifth graders at Wrens Elementary, Wrens.

Survivors include her children, John Paul Stevenson, Grace Stevenson and Kevin Stevenson; granddaughter, Hailey Myer; parents, Paul and Ethel Yates; brothers, Davis and Dan Yates; and sister, Carol Yates Conkling.

Services were held in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Sisler officiating. She will be laid to rest at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson.

Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Derrick Bernard "Pig" Thompson
Mr. Derrick Bernard “Pig” Thompson, 38, departed this life Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Jones Grove Baptist Church and cemetery with Rev. Fredrick Ricks officiating.

Mr. Thompson was the son of the late Ernest Thompson Sr. and the late Shirley McGruder Thompson Pierce. Mr. Thompson was a native of Jefferson County, a member of the Jones Grove Baptist Church, a 1988 graduate of Louisville High School and was employed with Cadet Manufacturing Company for over 15 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Sherderick Thompson of Atlanta; siblings, Ernest (Cassandra Cobb) Thompson Jr. of Columbus, and Wanda (Barry) Bostic of Louisville; stepsisters and brother, Rev. Anthony (Tericka) Pierce of Atlanta, Nadia Pierce of Augusta, and Erica Lightsey of Jacksonville, Fla.; his aunts and uncles, Annie D. (Benjamin) Parker of Milledgeville, Ann (Johnny) Dixon of Conyers, Lindsey (Beverly) McGruder of Hephzibah, Elouise Smith of Louisville, Horace (Alberta) Thompson of Augusta, and Carol McDonald of Laurelton, N.Y.; great-aunts, Fannie Houston and Isabell Harmon of Louisville, and Cora Fields of Newark, N.J.; nieces and nephews, Krystal Bostic, Ebony Bostic, Barry Bostic II, all of Louisville, Tiara Thompson of Augusta, and Makayla Thompson of Columbus; friend, Kendra Williams of Columbus.

Family maybe contacted at the residence of his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Barry Bostic, Oak Hill Court or at Davis Funeral Home.

Mr. Tommie Thompson
Mr. Tommie Thompson, 74, of Louisville departed this life on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at a local hospital.

Mr. Thompson was a native of Jefferson County, the son of the late Sonny and Nola Thompson. He attended Jefferson County School System. He joined the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church at an early age and for many years worked as a machine operator.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 14, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church and Cemetery

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Wells Thompson of Louisville; his children, Roger (Vivian) Thompson of Atlanta, Ozark Wells and Jeanette (Harold) Thompson, both of Louisville, and Annie (Hanson) Harris of Atlanta; his siblings, Wright (Margaret) Thompson of Bell Glade, Fla., Elizabeth Kindell, Reba Watkins, Marie Thompson, all of Atlanta, Julia Gibbons of Bell Glade, Fla., and Frank (Neil) Gibbons of Augusta; mother-in-law, Louise Wells of Louisville; son-in-law, Frank Boyd of Louisville; sisters-in-law, Bessie Lois Brown and Annie Willie Thompson, both of Louisville; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Nathan Turner
Mr. Nathan Turner, 77, of Martinez entered into rest on Wednesday, June 11, 2008.

Mr. Turner retired from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Sales and the National Federation of Independent Business in Sales.

Services were held at The Sanctuary, Evans, at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008, with Pastor Bryan Cockrell officiating. Interment was immediately following at Mt. of Olives Cemetery, Johnston, S.C.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Turner; his brother, Richard of Johnston, S.C.; his sisters, Bennie Mae Bledsoe of Saluda, S.C., and Miriam Rushton of Ninety Six, S.C.; two sons, David of Thomson, and John of Grovetown; five grandchildren, Jamie Brock of Gainesville, Taylor Arrington of Matthews, Colt Turner of Avera, Lauren Stalcup of Fort Polk, La., and Brittani and Cody Turner of Grovetown; five great-grandchildren, Cassandra Brock, Cayden and Madelyn Arrington, Kamron and Jacob Stalcup.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Tullis, Johnny Whittle, Tracy Kerr, Jack Cosohan, Steve Huffman, and Dave Desormeaux.

Honorary pallbearers were the ushers at The Sanctuary Church.

Mrs. Johnnie S. Tyner
Mrs. Johnnie S. Tyner of Augusta entered into rest Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Heartland Hospice in Conyers.

Mrs. Tyner was a native of Jefferson County and was the daughter of the late William L. Sheppard and the late Clara Hadden Sheppard. She was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Hope officiating. Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist cemetery in Avera.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest C. Tyner.

Survivors include daughter, Kay Tyner Clark, Stone Mountain; granddaughter, Lisbeth (Tinley) Rhine Anderson, Atlanta; sisters, Ethel S. Giles, Augusta, and Evelyn (Harold) Faglier, Warrenton; brothers, Hadden (Lulah) Sheppard, Augusta, and Harold (Johnna) Sheppard, Augusta; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jim Overton, Hilton “Flip” Timmons, Victor Raley, Al Wheeler, Barry Allen, Billy Dye and Aubrey “Fuzzy” Garner.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Geneva Patterson Brown
Mrs. Geneva Patterson Brown of Louisville died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mrs. Brown was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, daughter of the late Charlie and Annie Bell Ponder Patterson. She was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she was a missionary and served as an usher for many years. She was also a member of the Court-Leon Society. She was united in marriage to the late Wallace Brown in January 1940.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2008, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville with Rev. Charles Brown officiating and Rev. Isaac Culberth presiding.

Preceding Mrs. Brown in death were her siblings, Lamar Patterson, Henry Patterson, Willie Patterson, Bartha Long, Grady Evans, Fannie Fields, Dennie C. Walden and Annie Bell Walden.

Survivors include her children, Wallace (Lillie) Brown Jr., William “Homer” (Anna) Brown Sr., Mattie (Robert) Williams and Walter Brown of Louisville, Geneva (Edward Sr.) Gay and Mary Jane Brown of Detroit, Mich.; sister-in-law Gladys Patterson of Augusta; goddaughter, Margaret Walker of Louisville; 24 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons and trustees of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers were Travis Brown, Tyler Brown, Stephen Boyd, Marjarius Bell, Terry Davis and Travis Brown.
