Mr. Emery N. Warner Jr., 52, of Augusta entered into rest on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at a local hospital.
He was the vice president and head technician of Davis Appliance.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Ronnie Faircloth officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leona and Emery N. Warner Sr.; sister, Shirley Allen; nephews, Mark Allen and Jason Youngblood.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Warner; daughter, Dusty Hudson, Augusta; grandchildren, K.C., Savannah, and Boston; brother, Wade E. (Lori H.) Warner, Augusta; sisters-in-law, Pat Martin and Toddy Dawson, both of Augusta; brothers-in-law, Ricky (Penny) Youngblood, Hephzibah, and Frank (Wanda) Youngblood, Gibson; aunt, Cleo Williams, Bristol, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and friends, Rufus and Barbara Cockrell.
Pallbearers were Tom Miller, Jimmy Pardue, Billy Thigpen, and his nephews, Henry Martin Jr., Matt McGuire and Andrew Taylor.

Mrs. Mary Lockhart Berry
Mrs. Mary Lockhart Berry, 93, of Wrens entered into rest on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Berry was born on May 2, 1916, to the late Joe Luscious and Leila Ellison Lockhart. She was a member of the Ways Grove Baptist Church Missionary Board and the Mother Board.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Ways Grove Baptist Church, with the Pastor Rev. Jimmy McCullough III as eulogist and Rev. Dr. W.L. Jones presiding. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Dollie Mae Rowland and Mary Avery, both of Wrens; a granddaughter, Deborah (Ben) Johnson of Augusta; five sons, Richard (Fannie) Berry Jr., John Berry Sr., Thomas (Frances) Berry Sr., Jimmy Berry Sr., all of Wrens, and Henry (Ida) Berry of Jonesboro; one daughter-in-law, Bertha Berry of Hartselle, Ala.; one son-in-law, John Goodson of Wrens; two sisters, Leila Seabrooks of Wrens, and Lottie Way of Augusta; a sister-in-law, Mary L. Lockhart of Wrens; 28 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Beulah Bell Brown
Mrs. Beulah Bell Brown, 84, formerly of Louisville entered into rest on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009.
Mrs. Brown was a native of Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Watson Green and Emma Thomas Green. She was the widow of the late Thomas Brown, a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a member of the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society and the Fair and Honest Society. She worked as a private homemaker for over 17 years at the Moses Residence.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Spring Bethel Benevolent Society Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Lester (Katie) Green of Hephzibah; grandchildren, Brianna Heggs of Hollywood, Fla., Glen Green Jr. of Florida, Ladarius Green and Jeorgia Green, both of Hephzibah, Ruth Davis of Boston, Mass, Rebecca Davis of Cleveland, Ohio, and Naomi Davis of Vermont, Conn.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Ray “Dan” Kent Daniels
Mr. Ray “Dan” Kent Daniels, 91, entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at the Golden Living Center.
Mr. Daniels was a retired carpenter.
Funeral services were held at Sherwood Baptist Church on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Jim Johnson officiating. Interment was at 2 p.m. in the Wrens City Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lizzie Faglier Daniels.
Survivors include his second wife, Esther Arnett Daniels; children, Charles E. (Elizabeth M.) Daniels of Grovetown, Norma (James) Grant of Kite, Billy (Ramona) Daniels of Bethelehem, and Sandra (John) Finch of Evans; stepchildren, Patricia (Edward) Pace of Broadway, N.C., Hazel (Butch) McCarthy of Hephzibah, Tommy (Karen) Arnett of Hephzibah, Linda (Harvey) Anderson of North Augusta, S.C., and Brenda (Earl) Herndon of Hephzibah; brother, Jessie (Sarah) Daniels of Danielsville; sister, Magdalene Morris of Evans; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Robert Louis Hadden Jr.
Mr. Robert Louis Hadden Jr., 62, of Mitchell entered into rest on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009.
Mr. Hadden was a native of Hancock County, he had lived in Culverton most of his life and in Mitchell the past 10 years. He was the son of the late Robert L. and Julia Cheely Hadden and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. Mr. Hadden was a lead lineman for Georgia Power Company and a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at 3 p.m. in Mineral Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Seaman and Rev. Bert Mauldin officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John Harvey Hadden.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Murphey Hadden; son, R.L. (Brandy) Hadden III; granddaughter, Meribeth Hadden, all of Mitchell; sisters, Laura Mae Stepp of Sparta, and Susie (David) McLean of Griffin; brother, Tom (Julia) Hadden of Sparta; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Coppett Hill
Mrs. Mary Ellen Coppett Hill, 71, of Louisville entered into rest on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Jefferson Hospital.
Mrs. Hill was born in Burke County to the parentage of the late Randolph Coppett and Mary Frances Coleman. She lived in Jefferson County all of her life and attended the Canaan Galilee Church School in Jefferson County. In early life, she joined Walden Grove Baptist Church, but later joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mrs. Hill was the widow of the late Rev. Jessie Hill. She owned and operated Hill Town Tavern from 1967-1976. She was the last living member of the Morning Star Singing Group. Mayor Rita Culvern declared Aug. 29, 2009 as “Mary Hill Day” in the City of Louisville.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Cemetery, with her son, Rev. Derrick Hill officiating.
Survivors include her children, Amy L. Elam of Lincolnton, Dorothy Jean (Rev. Judson Sr.) Scott of Augusta, Calvin Anthony (Sharon) Hill Sr. of Powder Springs, Earl James Hill, Rev. Ms. Joyce West Jennings
Ms. Joyce West Jennings, 66, of Moxley entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at her residence.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Louisville Church of God at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Louisville City Cemetery.
Ms. Jennings was born and raised in Louisville. She later married
and moved to Atlanta before returning home to Jefferson County. She researched the West family history and compiled a complete ancestry and family tree. She was a Christian.
Survivors include her mother, Doris West of Moxley; one son, Mike Todd of Moxley; one daughter, Shawn (Terry) Marsh of Moxley; one brother, Larry (Peggy) Cason of Martinez; two sisters, Donna McGowan of Louisville, and Peggy (Wayne) Marsh of Douglas; one granddaughter, Amanda (Donnie) Evans of Moxley; three grandsons, Andrew Marsh of Moxley, and Cody and Britt Todd of Garfield; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Terianna Evans of Moxley; one niece, Stephaney Smith of Moxley; two nephews, Adam and Travis Cason of Grovetown; and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. David W. Kelley Jr.
Mr. David W. Kelley Jr., 62, of Stapleton entered into rest on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Kelley was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and was a 34 year retiree from Thermo King where he was a machine operator. After 34 years, he also retired as Captain of the Stapleton Fire Department. He was an active member of Stapleton Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at James Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Bill Daniel officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Avera.
He was preceded in death by his father, David W. Kelley Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Shirley M. Kelley; mother, Dorothy Newsome Kelley; his children, Ernie (Susan) Kelley and Cindy (Everette) Guy; a brother, Tony (Joyce) Kelley; a sister, Faye (Kent) Pate; three grandchildren, Michael Courtney, Cody Guy and Summer Guy; one great-grandson, Thomas M. Mr. Javon “Buddy” Kilpatrick
Mr. Javon “Buddy” Kilpatrick, 22, of Louisville entered into rest on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Medical College of Georgia, Augusta.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Spring Bethel AME Church and Spring Bethel Benevolent Society Cemetery.
Mr. Kilpatrick was the son of the late Eddie and Bernice Thomas Kilpatrick. Born in New York, he moved to Georgia where he lived most of his life. He joined Spring Bethel AME Church at an early age and was a 2006 graduate of Jefferson County High. At age 7 he was stricken with Muscular Dystrophy. He attended Adult Day Care in Louisville.
Survivors include his caretakers, sister, Bernestine (Solomon) Gamble of Louisville; sisters and brothers, Ray Charles (Vanzola) Smith, Glorestine Cunningham, Donnell (Roberta) Cunningham and Connie (Donnie) Brown, all of Louisville, Juanita (Tom Albert) Cuyler, Inerbell (Herman) Williams, Joe Willie (Alice) Smith, Miller (Norma) Smith, Shirley Tyson, Eddie (Towanda) Cunningham, Bobby (Adriane) Cunningham, Ronnie Cunningham and Tyrone Cunningham, all of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; friend, Ladarius “Body Guard” Morgan of Louisville; uncle and aunts, David Thomas, Shirley Thomas and Inez McBride, all of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. James S. “Doc” Phillips
Mr. James S. “Doc” Phillips, 83, of Wrens entered into rest on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at Trinity Hospital of Augusta.
Mr. Phillips was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and was an active member of Wrens United Methodist Church. He retired twice from the Jefferson County Board of Education in maintenance, school bus driver and mail courier. He was also a practicing chiropractor for over 50 years.
Funeral services were held at Wrens U.M.C. on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Stan Littleton and Dr. James M. Ford officiating. Interment followed at the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary P. Hilldrum, J.P. Phillips and Jessie Ellis Phillips; and his parents, Charles S. and Bernice Beasley Phillips.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Reba Norris Phillips; children, Barbara (Kenneth) Prescott, Johnny (Leetta) Ray and Pat (J.T.) McCorkle; a brother, Charles (Lucille) Phillips Jr.; a sister, Nellie Reeves; eight grandchildren, Wayne (Jennifer) Prescott, Kip (Karla) Prescott, April Prescott, Erica Walker, Jimmy Laughery, Robert Laughery, Dan McCorkle and Emily (Benji) Cranford; and eight great-grandchildren, Kady, Kelsee, Hudson, Cole, Haylee, Ariel, Summer and Holly.

Mr. Randolph Sawden
Mr. Randolph Sawden, 61, of Stapleton entered into rest on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at the Downtown VA Medical Center in Augusta.
Mr. Sawden was a newspaper deliverer for The Augusta Chronicle for 22 years where he was known as “Paper Man.” He served in the U.S. Army where he fought in Vietnam.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at 7 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. James Ford officiating.
