He was born in Walton County on January 6, 1949 to the late Grace Melton Johnson and the late Jack Johnson, Sr. Surviving are: wife, Donna Johnson of Monroe; daughter, Amy Johnson of Monroe; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Kelli Johnson, Jr. of Monroe; sister, Phyllis Moorhead of Debray, FL; grandchildren, Lana Johnson and Taylor Johnson. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Sosebee, Jeff Smith, and Chris Aloia officiating. Interment followed at Westlawn Cemetery. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Carter
Barbara Deloris Carter Barbara Deloris Carter, 80, of Monroe passed away on February 5, 2013. She was born in Loganville, Ga to Byron and Grace Osborne. Over the years Barbara was employed at several daycare facilities in Monroe. The baby rooms were always her favorite. As the years passed by she always remembered the children she cared for and followed their life through stories and announcements in the newspaper and through family and friends as they grew up and went on to have children of their own. She was preceded in death by her parents: Byron and Grace Osborne; son: Ronny Carter; great grandson: Christopher Martin and brother: Talmadge Osborne. She is survived by: daughters: Linda Faye Moon and Janice Lowe both of Monroe; grandchildren: Neal Martin of Arlington, VA; Lisa Martin Jackson, Jason Carter, Crystal Lowe all of Monroe; Lori Carter Warden of Comer, Ga.; numerous great grandchildren; brother: Gene Osborne of Loganville. Funeral Services were held Friday, February 8, 2013 at 2pm in the chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Jim Ross officiating. Interment followed at Corinth Memorial Gardens in Loganville. Meadows Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Clara Sorrow
Clara Sorrow Clara Kines Sorrow, age 94, of Covington, died on February 4, 2013. She was born in Walton County on April 26, 1918 to the late Rosa Young Kines and the late Albert Dean Kines. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Solomon B. Sorrow, and grandchildren, Lywanda and Steven. Surviving are: daughter, Juanita Sorrow of Oxford; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Sorrow of Cochran, Ervin and Mary Sorrow of Covington, James and Linda Sorrow of Covington, Billy and Brenda Sorrow of Oxford, Phillip and Janice Sorrow of Oxford; 7 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Jersey Holiness Church with the Rev. Randell Allgood officiating. Interment followed at Jersey Holiness Church Cemetery. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Adrienne Hollis
Adrienne Wade Hollis, 47, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly on February 2. Adrienne was an energetic, "can do" person, with a sparkling personality. Her life was centered on her son, Max. She was active in his school activities at Providence Christian Academy and at Holy Cross Anglican Church. She volunteered extensively, and had served as Campaign Director for United Way of Walton County, on its board of directors and was a founding board member of Students Without Mothers. Adrienne moved to Monroe as Director of Marketing for the former Walton County Hospital Authority after receiving her Master's degree in Journalism from the Medill School of Northwestern University. She later served in similar capacities for the Atlanta Medical Center and Gwinnett Medical Center. At the time of her death, she was a marketing consultant with Banyan Communications, consulting primarily with the CDC. She is survived by her son Max Carter of Monroe, her mother and father, Dot and Ron Wade of Greensboro, and her brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Amber (Almanza) Wade, of Chicago. The family suggests memorial contributions to Providence Christian Academy, 4575 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lilburn, GA 30047, towards the future development of the Lussi Athletic Annex, to Holy Cross Anglican Church, or to Students Without Mothers, 3355 Lenox Rd., Ste 750, Atlanta, GA 30326.

Maebelle Parham
Maebelle Brooks Parham, age 89, of Monroe, died on January 31, 2013. She was born on June 2, 1923 to the late Emma Brown Brooks and the late Hampton Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Emerson Parham. Surviving are: sons and daughters-in-law, Reggie and Janet Parham of Monroe, Greg and Kelly Parham of Monroe; brother and sister-in-law, Weyman and Josephine Brooks of Columbus; grandchildren, Hannah and Joe Wilson of Good Hope, Will Parham of Monroe, Brittney Moore of Monroe, Alyssa Moore of Monroe; great grandchildren, Evan Wilson of Good Hope; and Joseph Rodriguez of Monroe. Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 4:00 pm at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Malcom, the Rev. Mike Farmer, and the Rev. Chris Yancey officiating. Interment followed at Rest Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Good Hope Christian Church at P.O. Box 38, Good Hope, GA 30641; or to Ebenezer Baptist Church at 3861 Ebenezer Church Rd, Social Circle, GA 30025.

Robert Jackson
Robert Volney Jackson, Jr., age 73, of Monroe, died on January 31, 2013. He was born in Walton County on December 3, 1939 to the late Jewell Swords Jackson and the late Robert Volney Jackson, Sr. Surviving are: Wife, Nancy Jackson of Monroe; Daughter and Son-In-Law, Mandy and David Braswell of Monroe; Sons and Daughter-In-Law, Von and Vicki Jackson of Monroe; Kenneth Jackson of Monroe; Sisters and Brother-In-Law, Carol White, Mary and Bobby Highsmith; 5 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild, and Several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. David Braswell officiating. Interment followed at Hill Haven Memory Gardens.

Mell Cleaton
Mell Abbott Cleaton, age 84, of Monroe, died on January 30, 2013. He was born in Walton County on September 3, 1928 to the late Sabrina Louise Whitley Cleaton and the late Charlie Paul Cleaton. Surviving are: Wife, Elaine W. Cleaton of Monroe; Daughters and Son-In-Law, Bonnie and Brett Grandy of Satl Lake City, UT, Dottie Connell and lifelong friend, Lynn Thomas; Grandchildren Elis and Ashley Connell of Monroe, Paul and Teresa Grandy of Salt Lake City, UT, David Grandy of New York, NY, Sara Grandy of Salt Lake City, UT; Great Grandchildren, Avery Connell and Marley Rae Connell. Mell will be remembered as a loving husband, a caring father, a devoted son, and a friend to many. He spent a big part of his early life helping his parents with their community store, and dedicated much time in helping to take care of them and their home. He loved the outdoors, and spent countless hours tending to his small 'truck' farm and garden, and in earlier years, hunting. In his later years, he enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time at his farm with his wife, Elaine and their dog, Jake. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Ross officiating. Interment followed at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Bettye Lee Robison
Bettye Lee Robison of Monroe, Georgia passed away August 1, 2013. Mrs. Robison, born June 21, 1926, was the daughter of Mary Copeland Lee and Elijah Butts Lee of Leesburg, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert W. "Bob" Robison. Mrs. Robison attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She graduated from Mercer University in 1948 with a degree in sociology. She was an educator, librarian, and real estate agent for many years prior to retiring from the Walton County Department of Family and Children Services. She served in Monroe Junior Service League, and various other civic organizations. She has been a longstanding member of the First United Methodist Church of Monroe. Survivors include one son, Chip Robison, of Atlanta, one daughter, Margaret Henderson of Cartersville, daughter-in-law Laura Hightower Robison, and four grandchildren, Andrew and Sam Robison, and Will and Beth Henderson. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 9, 2013 at the Cottages Clubhouse located at 601 Breedlove Drive in Monroe, GA 30655. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00 am at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe, GA. Please call 770-267-9406 for any additional information. Debbie Mitchell
Deborah (Debbie) Brown Mitchell, age 59 of Good Hope, died on August 3, 2013. She was born on August 20, 1953 in Savannah to the late Edward Lamar Brown and the late Mamie Carolyn Wesley Brown. Surviving are: Husband: Gary Mitchell of Good Hope; Daughters and Son in Law: Jackie Mitchell of Good Hope, and Elizabeth and Morgan Hendricks of Oxford; and several extended family members. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday August 6th at Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Brant Callaway officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Nanette Robison
Nanette Snelling Robison, age 90, died July 24, 2013 at Hospice of Wake County in Raleigh, NC. Born February 20, 1923 in Pinehurst, Dooly County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Reynolds and William Amos Snelling, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, James Bailey Robison. She is survived by daughter Nancy Robison Burka and husband Tom Burka of Cary, NC; grandsons James Joseph Burka of Boise, ID and Andrew Robison Burka and wife Abbey of Raleigh, NC. Nanette attended Wesleyan College in Macon GA for one year before transferring to the University of Georgia in Athens for her A.B. in Journalism. For a brief time, she worked at the Atlanta Constitution. She came to Monroe GA in 1943 to teach girls PE and coach the girls basketball team at Monroe High School. In 1956 she earned a Master in Education from the University of Georgia. She retired in 1974 having taught journalism, economics, family living and American History. In her later years, she found great satisfaction from her work with Walton EMC's community assistance program, Operation Round Up. She moved to Windsor Point CCRC in Fuquay-Varina, NC in 2010 but always considered herself a resident of Walton County. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Friday, August 2 at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe, GA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug 3 at 3:00 PM at Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Walton Electric Trust (Attn: Kathy Joiner) PO Box 260, Monroe GA 30655 or Bethel Baptist Church, PO Box 67, Good Hope, GA 30641 or the charity of your choice are requested.

Marcus Bailey
Marcus Bailey Marcus Eugene Bailey, age 74, of Social Circle, GA, died on July 29, 2013. He was born in Walton County on June 18, 1939 to the late Mary Alice Pratt Bailey and the late Albert Onis Bailey. Surviving are: daughters and son-in-law, Stephanie Floyd of Nashville, TN, Leigh and Pat Dismukes of Prattville, AL; sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara Wilmoth of Monroe, GA, Jean and Buddy Higgins of Chattanooga, TN; brothers and sister-in-law, Lee and Donna Bailey of Monroe, GA, Thomas Bailey of Monroe, GA; granddaughter, Monyca Cole of Rapid City, SD; great grandchildren, Alana, Trenton and Hunter. A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Chapel or Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Callie Weber officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by mail at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, attention Tribute Program, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148 or visit www.stjude.org. Ray Hall
Ray Hall, age 87, of Monroe, GA passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at St. Mary?s Hospice House. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Lillian Shelton Hall; his grandson, Alex Hall; 2 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his children: Janice Kurasaka and husband, Douglas; Michael Hall and wife, Charlotte; Richard Hall and wife, Renea; Darrell Hall; grandchildren, Jonathan Hall, Nicholas Hall, Gerrin Hall, Andrew Brandon Kurasaka, Shelley Kurasaka, and Tracy LeSueur, plus 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Henry and Lewis Hall; sister, Agnes Mack; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening, and was devoted to his family. The family of Ray Hall wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff of Summers Landing Assisted Living and St. Mary?s Hospice team for their dedicated, loving care during his battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 26th at Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Conner officiating. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or donations, in memory of Ray Hall, may be made to the St. Mary?s Hospice House or the Alzheimer?s Association. William G. Scarborough
William Gaylon Scarborough, age 76, of Monroe, died on July 18, 2013. He was born in Porterdale, GA on May 1, 1937 to the late Magnolia Hanson Scarborough and the late Calvin Thomas Scarborough. Surviving are: Wife, Brenda Scarborough of Monroe; Daughters and Son-In-Law, Sharon and Jamie Powell of East Dublin, Brenda Scarborough of Monroe; Step Daughters and Step Son-in-Law, Mary Powell of Bremen, Adrianne and Danny Grey of Franklin; Sons and Daughters-In-Law, Steven and Sandra Scarborough of Roopville, William and Victoria Scarborough, of Fitzgerald; Thomas and Cristle Scarborough of Nashville, Jason Scarborough of Fitzgerald, Willie Scarborough of Carrolton; Brothers, Amos Scarborough Carrolton, Carlton and Shirley Scarborough of Alvaton, James Scarborough, Villa Rica, Charles Scarborough of Villa Rica; 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 21st at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Peters officiating.

Joseph C. Long
Joseph C. Long Joseph Cleveland Long passed away on October 16, 2013. He was the second son of Robert Carson Long and Edna Williams Long. He was born in Atlanta, GA in 1948. Brother Joe was a graduate of Monroe Area High School and the University of Georgia. A Christian since the age of 12, he received Christ as his Savior in 1960 at Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Walton County. Joe was a great patriot and loved his God, country, family, and friends. He was a kind and gentle man who lived his life by our golden rule. He was a prolific writer, photographer, and astronomer and was extremely intelligent on all subjects. His communications included politicians, presidents, and ministers of faith. Joe will truly be missed in this world and well received in the next. Maynard Marshall Boyd, age 73, of Monroe, GA, died on September 29, 2013. He was born in Ararat, VA on December 25, 1939 to the late Elizabeth Marshall Boyd and the late Elmer Boyd. Surviving are: wife, Emily Pannell Boyd of Monroe; son and daughter-in-law, Derry and Debbie Boyd of Monroe; sister, Lorene Boyd West of Mt. Airy, NC; grandchildren, Nicole Boyd of Monroe, and Andrew Boyd of Monroe. Funeral services were Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Rupert Evans, the Rev. Bill Lloyd, and the Rev. Ken Deitle officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Linda Gale Jones Gattis, age 72 of Monroe, died on September 28, 2013. She was born in Monroe, GA on January 5, 1941 to the late A.M. (Bo) Jones and the late Lillian Odum Jones. Surviving are: Sons and Daughters in Law: Jon and Debbie Gattis of Social Circle, Jeffery and Julie Gattis of Good Hope, Jarde and Kelly Gattis of Monroe, Joel and Lisa Gattis of Monroe, Jayed and Denise Gattis of Danielsville; Brothers and Sisters in Law: Billy and Harriett Jones of Monroe, Jimmy and Tammy Jones of Monroe; 13 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services were held on Monday September 30th at 3:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Malcom officiating. Interment followed Hill Haven Memory Gardens.

Peggy Mobley
Peggy Gail Parker Mobley, age 63, of Monroe, died on September 23, 2013. She was born in Walton County on October 8, 1949 to Eugenia Swords Parker and Grover Ray Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late, James Phil Mobley; her father, the late Grover Ray Parker; and brother, the late Phil Parker. Surviving are: son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Cindy Loggins of Monroe; mother, Eugenia (Jean) Parker of Monroe; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Don Cox of Monroe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Marsha Parker of Conyers, Benny and Janis Parker of Monroe; grandchildren, Morgan and Andy Hudson of Monroe, Madison Loggins of Monroe; and great grandchild, Rye Hudson. Funeral services were Wednesday, September, 25, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Whitley officiating. Interment followed at Hill Haven Memory Gardens.

Milo "Mike" Michiaels
MILO "MIKE" EARL MICHIAELS JR. "MIKE" MICHIAELS, age 67, of Monroe GA, passed away on September 15th, 2013. He was born in Hammond, Indiana to the late Milo and Frances Dankert Michiaels. He was a very hard worker for BioLab of Conyers GA where he retired due to becoming ill with Diabetes. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and he was the best friend to his spoiled rotten dog, ?Little Bit.? He always put a smile on anyone's face he met. Surviving are: Loving Wife: Shirley Collins Michiaels, Brother and Sister-in-law: Dave and Ave Michiaels, Sister and Brother-in-law: Bobbi and Doug Swarts, Sister and Brother-in-law: Linda and Ken Larsen, Sister and Brother-in-law: Connie and Pat Higgins, and Sister and Brother-in-Law: Dawn and Calvin Lloyd. Son and Daughter-in-law: Chad and Amy Michiaels, Son: Todd Michiaels, Daughter: DeeDee Gast-Michaels, Daughter: Ann Gast-White, Stepson and Daughter-in-law: Bobby and Karen Moss, Stepson: Brent Moss, Stepson: Scott Moss, and Stepdaughter and Son-in-law: Kim and Douglas Cissner. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 21st at 2:00pm at the Jersey Community Center on 125 Main Street Jersey, GA. 30018. In Lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated by family.
