Barry Mobley
John Barry Mobley, the only son of Sue Crowe of Bogart, and the late John Roy Mobley of Monroe, passed away peacefully at his home on August 11th, after a 19 year battle with heart disease. Barry was married to his loving and faithful wife, Nina Campbell Mobley, for over 33 years. Barry loved racing and spent much of his early years driving the #17 car in the North Georgia circuit. He built and operated a successful business, Custom Hardwood Floors, for over 30 years, that will be carried on by his son, Michael. For those lucky enough to know him, he was the (Hardwood Floor Man) a man that loved his life, friends, and family, and never turned away a friend in need. He was a big man with a big heart who made the lives of those around him better by just being a part of them. He also volunteered with the mentally disabled and donated to the poor. His memory will be carried on by his loving wife, his son Michael Mobley (wife, April Mobley); grandchildren: Austin, Trenton, and Mychaela; and his daughter, Sara Alina Mobley (soon to be son-in-law, Russell Jackson Ingram). Barry had one sister, Sheryl Mobley. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cancer Foundation of Northeast Georgia where his wife serves on the board. Betty Mahaffey Alexander
Betty Mahaffey Alexander passed away on October 1st, 2015. She was born and raised in Atlanta, GA on August 5, 1943. She was married for 50 years to Al Alexander and survived by two sons and daughters in law, Albert and Allison Alexander, III of Winter Haven, FL and Michael and Jessica Alexander of Monroe, GA; sisters and brother in law, Barbara Mahaffey of Cartersville, Becky Norigea of Connersville, NC, Shirley and Bobby Smith of Monroe; brother, Ronnie Mahaffey of Covington; plus two granddaughters, Alicia and Danielle Alexander of Bremen, GA, and several nieces and nephews. Betty was previously employed as a paraprofessional with the Gwinnett County School System at Rebecca Minor Elementary School. She enjoyed people, baking brownies for her friends and co-workers. She will be sorely missed as the unofficial greeter at Walton 24 Athletic Center. Visitation will be held at Meadows Funeral Home on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Her memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 5:00 pm in the Chapel at Meadows Funeral Home. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Albert Martin Perry
Albert Perry Albert Martin Perry passed away Friday October 2, 2015. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 23, 1940 to the late Olive May Lauman and the late Albert Watson Perry. He was preceded in death by his sister, the late Barbara Tibbetts. Surviving are: Wife, Irene Perry; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Anthony Burson of Commerce, Ga, Elizabeth and Chris Shaw, of Flowery Branch Ga, Rebecca Ketchum and fiance, Nelson Ownes of Chestnut Mt., GA; step daughter, Barbara Pruett; and step son, Greg Crews. Funeral services were Monday, October 5, 2015 at 3:00pm at the Open Door Baptist Church with Terry Poole officiating. Interment followed at Open Door Baptist Church Cemetery. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Charles George Montrose II
Charles George Montrose, II, age 91, of Social Circle, died on September 30, 2015. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 31, 1924 to the late Sylvia Montague Montrose, and the late Charles George Montrose, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Jean S. Montrose of Social Circle; sons and daughters in law, David L. and Noreen Montrose of Alexandria, VA, Charles G. Montrose III and Sharon Montrose of Ellerbee, NC, Thomas J. and Jennifer Montrose of Newborn, Bruce E. Montrose of Alexandria, VA; step daughters and step sons in law, Gail and Rocky Long of Commerce, Debbie and Chris Poss of Commerce; grandchildren, Melanie Montrose Starrett, Tiffany Montrose, Laura Montrose, Lee Montrose, Johlene Montrose, Chantel Montrose, Cedric Montrose; Great grandson Hunter Starrett. A funeral service was held on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Social Circle First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Hardy officiating. Interment followed at Kensico cemetery in New York.

Sarah Allen Sarah Frances Allen, age 78, of Monroe, died on September 29, 2015. She was born in Gainesville, Ga on April 12, 1937 to the late Nora Lackey McDougal and the late Ernest McDougal. She is survived by her husband, James Allen of Monroe; daughter and son in law, Vickie and Fred Clontz of Monroe; son and daughter in law, Mike and Carol Allen of Good Hope; brothers, James McDougal of Monroe, Paul McDougal of Social Circle; grandchildren, Amber Snively and Brandon Thacker, Ashlea and Sarge Cochran, Andrew Allen, K.C. and Kim Cochran, Amanda Cochran; great grandchildren, Skylar Snively, Lonnie Snively, Kadence Thacker, Jacie Carson, Tristan Watson; great great grandchildren, Hunter Bagwell, Kaiden Bagwell, Alyssa Bagwell, and Wyatt Cochran. Brandon Key
Brandon Payton Key, age 15, of Good Hope, died on September 20, 2015. He was born in Gwinnett County on December 27, 1999 to Stacey Farmer and James Payton Key. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, the late Faye Farmer. He is survived by his mother, Stacey Farmer of Good Hope; father and step-mother, Jamie and Christie Key of Covington; grandparents, Bobby Farmer of Good Hope, Larry and Billie Jean Key of Monroe; great grandmother, Mary Brooks of Williston, FL; step-brother, Colt Barfield. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Conner and Rev. Gloria Farmer officiating. Beth Schindler
Beth L. Schindler, age 77, of Monroe, died on September 16, 2015. She was born in Ellijay, GA on June 21, 1938 to the late Louise Southern Lowman Burnham and the late Reynold Lowman. She was preceded in death by her son, the late Stephen A. Crisp. She is survived by her husband, Walter J. Schindler; sons and daughters-in-law, James R. and Theresa Crisp of Monroe, William Scott Crisp of Kalispell, MO, Regina Crisp of Wheeling, WV; brother and sister in law, Jesse and Elaine Lowman of Horne Lake, MS; grandchildren, Caleb Crisp, Joshua Crisp, Amanda Taylor, Jacob Crisp, Stevie Crisp, Ryan Crisp; granddaughter in law, Brandy Crisp; grandson in law, Jonathan Taylor; great grandchildren: Anna Crisp, Jonathan Crisp, Tabatha Taylor, Evie Crisp; and many loved nieces and nephews. Archie Mayo
Rev. Archie Gerald Mayo, 89, left his earthy body to join Jesus Christ and his Heavenly Father on September 14, 2015. Archie was 89 years old and left this life peacefully succumbing to heart failure, at home in Monroe, Ga. surrounded by his loving family. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Archie was born to the late Clark and Annis Mayo, a farmer and a homemaker respectively, Macoupin County, Illinois on April 19, 1926. He grew up in Macoupin County and left in 1946 to join the Army serving in Europe as part of the Austrian Occupational Forces until 1948 upon discharge he joined the Army Reserves and was called up to serve later in Korea. He started at Southern Illinois University in 1948 where he received a degree in Education. This is also where he met the love of his life Joy. They met at the Baptist Student Union (BSU) on campus and were married in 1949, enjoying 66 years of marriage. Archie taught in several schools in southern Illinois his teaching responsibilities included doing some coaching and being the bus driver. Archie decided answer a call to serve the Lord in a more direct capacity and moved to Fort Worth, TX to attend Southwestern Theological Seminary where he received his Master's in Religious Education. He proceeded to serve in churches in TX and then GA as a Minister of Education (Education and Recreation). He joined the Georgia Baptist Convention to serve as Secretary of Chaplaincy Ministries a new position with just an outline of the job that was joint position with the Home Mission Board (now Southern Baptist North American Missions). The job took him to all areas of Georgia as he worked with church clerks on reporting information to the Convention. He was also pioneered the development of volunteer chaplaincy programs between local pastors, motels, small hospitals, recreational and tourist areas around the state serving as a liaison with the military chaplains and prison chaplaincy programs. His work in the recreational and tourist areas of the state included working with Campers on Mission and placing and supervision of the student summer missionaries. He also worked to set up mission opportunities for Georgia Baptist with other States such New York. He continued in this position growing the department and scope of ministry from one person to 3 with a change in name to Special Missions Department before he retired in 1991. Upon his retirement the Convention named him a Man for All Seasons because so much of his work was sessional. Archie was a servant of God with a heart for missions in all locations. Micah 6:8 was his favorite verse and he always strived "to act justly...love mercy and walk humbly" He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is reaping his reward in heaven at this time. Archie is survived by his wife, Joy; his son Jack, and his daughters Jill Mayo and Jody Jackson; his grandchildren Amy Jackson and Stephen Jackson; his brother, Lawrence Mayo and sister Fairy Mayo. He is preceded in death by his brothers Leland, and S.M.; sister, Lillian Melcher. A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am September 17 at First Baptist Monroe, Ga, internment will be at 2 pm at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens 3700 Hwy 78, Snellville Ga. Dr. Glenn Money and Dr. Todd Ware will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Archie's life. Donations can be made to the mission fund at First Baptist Monroe, P.O. Box 351, Monroe, GA 30655-0351. The family is grateful to Pruitt Health Hospice for their care and compassion during his last week of life.

Emma Scroggs
Emma Asilee Scroggs, age 100 of Monroe, died on September 14, 2015. She was born in Barrow County on April 5, 1915 to the late Nellie Brown Peppers, and the late William Pack Peppers. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Homer Wilson Scroggs; her son, the late Ray Scroggs; sisters, the late Mary Royster, the late Druzy Watson; and brothers, the late Robert Peppers, and the late William A. Peppers. Surviving are: daughters and sons in law, Ann and Hugh David of Dacula, Joy and Daniel Martin of Monroe, Jean and John Hollis of Monroe, Sue and David Morgan of Tignall, Kathy and Terry Casper of Washington; sons and daughters in law, Jack and Mary Scroggs of Monroe, W.L. and Linda Scroggs of Campton, David and Rose Scroggs of Kuwait, Ellen Scroggs of Statham; sisters, Cammie Melton of Monroe, Lois Jennings of Chatanooga, TN; brother, Charlie Peppers of Monroe; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous great great grandchildren. Funeral services were Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Durden officiating. Interment followed at Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery. Dorothy Foster
Dorothy Ann Foster, age 85, of Monroe, died on October 17, 2015. She was born on October 22, 1929 to the late Bessie Peters Foster and the late Robert Claude Foster. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister in law, the late Dan and Dollie Foster, the late William Foster, the late John Foster, the late Jim Foster; and sister, the late Jane Jeffries. She is survived by her sister, Sara Dial of Monroe; brother, Robert foster of Provo, UT; and by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 2:30 pm at Westlawn cemetery with Jim Harshman, and Rev. Ben Parker officiating. Michael Mobley
Michael Cody Mobley (Catfish), age 60 of Good Hope, died on November 2, 2015. He was born in Atlanta, GA on November 23, 1954 to the late Mary Cody Mobley and the late Thomas Ervin Mobley. He was preceded in death by his sister, the late Susan Lemonds; and by his brother, the late Gene Mobley. Surviving are: wife, Linda Mobley of Good Hope; daughters and son in law, Heather and David Hoffman of Bethlehem, Keia and Karl Zittrauer of Braselton, Stacey and Curt Hinson of Covington; grandchildren: Waylon, Tyler, Cameron, Logan, Kobie, and Teagan. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 12:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral home with Rev. John Smith officiating.

Nan Jaillette
Nan Blasingame Jaillette, age 76, of Covington, died on October 30, 2015. She was born in Walton County on August 17, 1939 to the late Minnie Guest Blasingame and the late George Blasingame. She was preceded in death by her brother, the late Donald Blasingame; and granddaughter, the late Emily Jones. Surviving are: Husband, David Jaillette of Covington; daughter and son in law, Sally and Skipper Brannon of Barnesville; sister in law, Shirley Blasingame of Jersey; grandchildren, David and Ashley Jones of Griffin and Daniel Jones of Barnesville; and great grandchildren Tristan Jones of Zebulon, Charleigh Jones of Griffin. Peggy Joyce Butler, age 77, of Monroe, died on October 29, 2015. She was born in Covington, GA on June 23, 1938. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Leila and Clarence Kines; daughters, the late Lisa Alford, the late Tonya Braswell; sister, the late Carolyn Rowe; and brother, the late Darrell Kines. Dorothy Mae "Dot" Powell, age 83, of Monroe, died on October 28, 2015. She was born in Bartow County on November 4, 1931 to the late Mary Chastain Brookshire, and the late Walter Lee Brookshire. She was preceded in death by her son, the late Tommy Pearson. Harriette Lynn Couey, age 65, of Monroe, died on October 23, 2015. She was born in Thomaston, GA on December 25, 1949 to the late Alma Hamrick Garrett and the late James L. Garrett. She is survived by her husband, Ken Couey of Monroe; daughter and son in law, Teresa and Brett Bell of Good Hope; son and daughter in law, Greg and Wanda Couey; and grandchildren, MaryKate Couey, Austin Bell, and Colby Bell. Lucile Rollins Jones, age 91, of Norcross, died on October 18, 2015. She was born in Cumming, GA on June 17, 1924 to the late Ruby Mae Tallent Rollins and the late Curt Rollins. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late James Jones; sister, the late Voncile Lee, and daughter in law, the late Gayle Jones. She is survived by her sons and daughter in law, Billy Jones of Lawrenceville, Steve and Cheryl Jones of Loganville; nephews and nieces, including Kim Sexton, Deb Manus; 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Clifford Woodroe Stone, Sr., age 54, of Monroe, died on October 18, 2015. He was born in Walton County on February 10, 1961 to the late Lottie Mae Flannigan Stone and the late Arlie Stone. He was preceded in death by his son, the late Justin Lee Stone. Surviving are: wife, Tracey Stone of Monroe; daughters, Jessica Borgeld of Grand Rapids, MI, Ashley Hester of Monroe; sons, Cliff Stone, Jr. of Monroe, Randall Glass of Monroe; sister, Arleen Klungle of Monroe; and 5 grandchildren. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Hill Haven Memory Gardens with Rev. Carlton Shelton officiating. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Gail Smith Atha
Gail Smith Atha, age 75, of Monroe, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. She was born at the Breedlove Dairy Farm in Monroe, GA on February 26, 1940 to the late Doris Sorrels Smith and the late Charles Douglas Smith. She is survived by sons & daughter-in-law's, Bruce and Sarah Atha of Hiram, Bob and Deborah Atha of Monroe; brother, C. Donald and Joan Smith of Simpsonville, SC; sister, Joyce and Johnny Taylor of Monroe; grandchildren, Jessica and Faith-Ann Atha; nieces, Cindy Smith Atkins and Ginger Smith West; nephews, Allen Smith and Scott Taylor; great-nieces, Elise Taylor and Audrey Atkins; great-nephew, Davis Taylor. Gail was a 1958 graduate of Monroe Area High School. Her favorite title in the whole world was Me-Maw to her two granddaughters whom she loved to the moon and back. She loved listening to gospel music, reading all kinds of books and the Walton Tribune, doing word searches and getting on Facebook. She loved watching Days of Our Lives. Her favorite singers were her son, Bruce, her two granddaughters, The Gaither's and George Straight! A Funeral service was held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Lee officiating. Her pallbearers were Scott Taylor, Davis Taylor, Allen Smith (Honorary), Chris Atha, Tim Atha, Johnny Ledford, and Jacob Lee. Interment followed at East Lawn Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Abbey Hospice, 415 Azalea Court, Social Circle, Georgia 30025. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
