Julia Rhodes Dixon

Mrs. Julia Rhodes Dixon, 85, of Stapleton died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Doctors Hospital.

Mrs. Dixon, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was the church historian for many years. She was a member of Lili Chapter No. 376 of Eastern Star and a past worthy matron.

The funeral was Dec. 27 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Donald Lumpkin and Roy Smith officiating. Burial was in Walden's United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Terrell C. Dixon, Eatonton; a daughter, Clara D. Weathers, Martinez; a brother, Carroll Rhodes, Grange; a sister, Betty Calhoun, Wadley; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Andy Calhoun, Jimmy Miller, Lucius Thigpen, Elam Dudley, Kelly Bridges and Michael Kitchens.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 1350 Church St., Avera, GA 30803.

James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

David B. Johnson Jr.

Mr. David B. Johnson Jr., 81, of Keysville died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at his residence.

The funeral was Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. at James Funeral Home with the Revs. Ken Morgan and Tommy Fussell officiating. Burial was in the Keysville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy E. Johnson; one son, Kenneth Johnson, Keysville; three daughters, Joyce Weatherford, Matthews, Gail Lemon, Martinez, and Gwen Hallum, North Augusta; two brothers, Jack Johnson, Keysville, and Billy Johnson, Augusta; three sisters, Nell Reynolds, Augusta, Jeanette Skinner, Augusta, and Ruth Templeton, Keysville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Keith Johnson, Kenny Johnson, Kevin Johnson, David Weatherford, Casey Lemon and Michael Lemon.

Memorials can be made to Keysville Methodist Church Cemetery, P.O. Box 107, Keysville, Ga. 30816.

Lueretta Elaine Jordan

Mrs. Lueretta Elaine Jordan of Augusta died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001.

Mrs. Jordan, a native of Augusta, was a member of Tremount Temple Baptist Church where she sang on the Sanctuary Choir. She was employed by MCG for 15 years.

The funeral was Dec. 27 at 1 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. William Bass officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Memorial Garden.

Survivors include her husband, Elijah Jordan, Augusta; one son, Horatio Keller, Augusta; a step-son, Timothy Jordan, Augusta; father, Henry Keller Jr., Augusta; two sisters, Henrietta Coard and Julia Keller; two brothers, Roger Keller, Irvington, NJ, and James Keller, Augusta; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; and her mother-in-law, Edith Jordan, Wrens.

Williams Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

John William Rheney Sr.

Mr. John William Rheney Sr., 86, of Macon died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001.

Mr. Rheney, a native of Jefferson County, had lived in Macon since 1939. He was retired from McKesson Robbins and was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, the Howard Beaty Sunday School Class, the Golden K Kiwanis Club and the American Legion Post #3. Mr. Rheney was a United States World War II Air Force Veteran and was the son of the late John W. and Bessie McNeely Rheney.

Cryptside services were held privately on Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Camellia Mausoleum in Riverside cemetery with Dr. Charles Houston officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Allene Walker Rheney; a son, John W. Rheney Jr., Oglethorpe County; a daughter, Beverly Rheney Littlefield, Atlanta; two brothers, Peyton Austin Rheney, Wadley, and Frederick Ashby Rheney, Smyrna; and four step-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, Bibb County Unit, 195 Holt Avenue, Macon, Ga. 31201 or the donor's favorite charity.

Snow's Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Lillie Mae Tremble Fann

Mrs. Lillie Mae Tremble Fann of Wadley died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at University Medical Center, Augusta.

The funeral was Dec. 23 at 2:30 p.m. at San Clair Baptist Church, Wadley, with the Rev. Peter Sparks officiating.

Survivors include three daughters, Queenie Mae Fann Green, Margaret Fann Evans and Mary L. Fann Lewis, all of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sons, Marvin Fann Jr. and Jimmie Richard Fann of Milwaukee; 40 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 16 great great-grandchildren.

Florence "Flo" Stapleton Flanders

Mrs. Florence "Flo" Stapleton Flanders, 80, of Baker, Fla., formerly of Decatur, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001.

Mrs. Flanders, a native of Stapleton, taught school for 35 years, most of which was at Briarlake Elementary School in Decatur. While teaching at Blairlake, she won the National Freedom Foundation award for excellence. She enjoyed singing for several years with the Sweet Adeline's and was an active member of Oak Grove Methodist Church in both the Choir and her Sunday school class. After retirement from teaching she became associated with the Professional Association of Georgia Educators. She had been living in Baker for the past three years.

Graveside services were Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. at Stapleton cemetery with the Rev. Joey Holloway officiating.

Survivors include her son, Jack Flanders, Baker; two sisters, Mildred Launius, Monroe, and Sarah S. Dillon, Gainsville; and four grandchildren.

James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Julia Turner Adams

Mrs. Julia Turner Adams of Wadley died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at University Medical Center, Augusta.

The funeral was Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. at San Clair Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include four daughters, Mattie Smith, Bronx, NY, Ruby Davis, Brooklyn, NY, Lavern Judge, Atlanta, and Betty Gibbons, Wadley; and one son, Donald Adams, Phenix City, Ala.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Myra Wood Bragg

Mrs. Myra Wood Bragg, 58, of Mitchell died Monday, Jan. 31, 2001, at McDuffie Regional Center.

Mrs. Bragg was a homemaker and member of Little Briar Creek Baptist Church.

The funeral was Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. at Little Briar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Dunaway officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, James H. Bragg; her daughter, Jane B. Massey; her mother, Irie D. Taylor, Gibson; sisters, Monteen Langham, Thomson, and Nyra Langham, Mitchell; brothers, William Wood, Warrenton, Luke Wood, Henderson, NC, Arnold Wood, Warrenton and F.L. Wood, conyers.

Pallbearers were Lamar Massey, Donald Palmer, Eston Usry, Gemell Johnson, Willard Wilson and Billy Chalker.

Memorials may be made to Little Briar Creek Baptist Church.

Waymen E. Gaston

Mr. Waymen E. Gaston, 85, of Silver Springs, Ca., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Sylvia's Hospice House in Ocala, Ca.

Mr. Gaston, a native of Wadley, was a retired civil service worker with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Gaston; daughters, Carole Williams, Navarre, Ca., and Janis Stovall, Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Horace Gaston, Louisville; sisters, Nell Creech, Edna Gaston and Daisy Gaston, all of Wadley; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Roberts Funeral Home, Jennings/Archway Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Walter Hannah

Mr. Walter Hannah of Augusta died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001.

The funeral was Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Sandvalley African Methodist Episcopal Church, Louisville, with the Rev. Leroy Britt Sr. officiating. Burial was in the Sugar Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Hannah, Atlanta; three brothers, Morris Hannah, Wrens, John Hannah, Atlanta, and Horace Hannah Jr., Augusta; six sisters, Mary Crum, Dorothy Wright and Marie Lamkin, all of Augusta, Ida Ghee, Evon Hannah, both of Philadelphia, PA, and Willie A. Patrick, Wyndmoor, PA; godchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Freeman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dora Hart Reese

Mrs. Dora Hart Reese, 96, of Warrenton died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at University Hospital.

Mrs. Reese, a native of Glascock County, was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the United Methodist Women and a member of Johnson United Methodist Church.

The funeral was Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. at Johnson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim McAllister officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary R. Abercrombie, Statesboro; Marcia R. Ray, Warrenton; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tommy Johnson, Timmy Johnson, Tony Johnson, Juddy Johnson, Jason Johnson, Joe Shurley and Jimmie Gunn.

Memorials may be made to Johnson UMC Sunday School, P.O. Box 204, Warrenton, GA 30828.

Etta Frances Little Brown

Mrs. Etta Frances Little Brown of Greensboro died Monday, Dec. 28, 2001.

Mrs. Brown, a native of Wrens, was the daughter of the late Clifford and Mary Smith Little.

The funeral was Jan. 3 at 2 p.m. at Hargett Memorial Chapel, Greensboro, NC.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Brown; son, James King, Mesquite, TX; daughters, Slyvia Cheesboro and Tabatha Cheesboro, East Orange, NJ; a brother, Morris C. Little, Nicholson; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Hargett Funeral Chapel, 405 E. Market St., Greensboro, NC, and Gardenview Funeral Chapel, 605 Olympic Dr., Athens, was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Emma Allen Williams

Mrs. Mary Emma Allen Williams, 82, of Gibson died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Gibson Rest Home.

Mrs. Williams was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Harlem Ward. She was a lifelong resident of Glascock County, having been employed at Thomson and Stapleton Garment Factories, Todd's Outlet in Warrenton and the VRW in Thomson.

The funeral was Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Timothy Tippett officiating. Burial was in the Gibson Branch cemetery in Edgehill.

Survivors include five children, Clarisse May, Milledgeville, Jo Ann Grimer, Margaret Land and Dennis Williams of Warrenton, and Chester Williams, Eatonton; all of her siblings, Kathleen Reese and Zylphia Reese, Gibson, Ester Thompson, Macon, Willie Bell Reese, Thomson, and Frankie Edwards, White Plains; a brother, George Allen, Augusta, and 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Allen Land, Chad Williams, Austin Williams, Darryl Garrison, Hud Williams, Jay Williams, Kyle Vinson Burgamy and Corey Burgamy.
