Mrs. Kathleen C. Berry, 75, of Augusta died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Doctors Hospital.
Mrs. Berry, a native of Jefferson County, had been a resident of Augusta for 48 years. She was a retired dietician with the Richmond County Board of Education and a member of Central Baptist Church.
The funeral was June 22 at 2 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Lumpkin Road Chapel with the Revs. Marion Jay and Jim Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Louisville City Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, David Allen Berry, Spring Lakes, N.J.; two daughters, Cathy Baker, Martinez, and Wanda Rollins, Evans; two sisters, Edna McDaniels, Jackson, and Dorothy Todd, North Augusta; two brothers, John Clark, Louisville, and Edward Clark, Brunswick; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were R.E. Rollins, John Berry, Ray Fitzgerals, Rodney Baker and Mike Allen.

James L. "Jamie" Cowan
James L. "Jamie" Cowan, 10, of Statesboro died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
James had lived in Bulloch County for most of his life. He was a student at Mill Creek Elementary School and attended Eastern Heights Baptist Church.
The funeral was July 2 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Kennedy officiating. Burial was in Louisville City Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Lisa Cowan, Savannah; his Nana and Pepa Lynda and Bubba Lewis, Statesboro; one brother, Jordan Miles, Savannah; his grandfather, Sam Cowan, Statesboro; two aunts and uncles, Marianne and Gary Dunigan, Brooklet, Susan and Rusty Hendrix, Nevils; three great-aunts and a great-uncle Bonnie Thompson and Jamie Sprauge, Ft. Wentworth, and Barbara and Bobby Reed, Statesboro; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.T. Steed, Louisville; and two cousins, Bailey Hendrix and Matthew Dunigan.
Pallbearers were Gary Dunigan, Rusty Hendrix, Ben Tapley, Tommy Cowan, John Miles and Chuckie Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers were the students and teachers of the Special Education program at Mill Creek Elementary School.

Joseph W. Stringfield
Mr. Joseph W. Stringfield, 62, of Gibson died Monday, June 24, 2002, at the VAMC Downtown Division, Augusta.
Mr. Stringfield, a native of Augusta, was an Army veteran with 22 years of active service. He served two tours of service in Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star for Valor and Two Purple Hearts. He then returned home to raise his five children, along with his devoted wife, while serving, then retiring from the National Guard. He was a member of West Acres Baptist Church in Evans where he served as deacon. After moving to Gibson, he joined Mill Creek Baptist Church and served as deacon also.
The funeral, with Full Military Honors, was held June 26 at 4 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Harmon officiating. Burial was in Gibson City Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Chalker Stringfield; three sons, Joseph C. Stringfield, Detroit Lakes, Minn., James L. Stringfield, McIntyre, and Barry C. Stringfield, Aiken; two daughters, Trina Weldon, Harlem, and Sabrina Conklin, Evans; two brothers, David P. Stringfield, McCormick and Roy L. Stringfield, Martinez; three sisters, Anne Elrod, Alberta Kersey and Rosa Mae Ward, all of Harlem; and eight grandchildren.

Sally Wright Jordan
Mrs. Sally Wright Jordan, 94, of Louisville died Wednesday, June 26, 2002.
Mrs. Jordan was the widow of William K. Jordan Sr. and the daughter of the late Adam Clarke and Jessika Atherton Wright. She was retired as a clerk from the Jefferson County Court House, a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, a member of the John Franklin Wren Chapter NSDAR, Magna Carta Dames and Louisville Garden Club. She was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College.
Graveside services were held June 29 at 11 a.m. at the Louisville City cemetery with the Rev. Michael Hendrix officiating.
Survivors include three stepsons, William K. Jordan Jr., White Oak, S.C., Paxton H. Jordan, Dadeville, Al., and Andrew Jordan, Corodova, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Marjorie Lee, Albany, and Eugenia Chappell, Charleston, S.C.; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Betty Smith of Vidette.
Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Hospice in Augusta or the Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church in Louisville.

Robert Stewart Jones
Mr. Robert Stewart Jones, 70, of Louisville died Sunday, at Eisenhower Medical Center, Fort Gordon.
Mr. Jones, born in Fordsville, Ky., lived most of his life in Heflin, Ala. before moving to Louisville seven years ago. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He retired from the United States Navy after 28 years of service.
A memorial service was held July 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Father Larry Goulding and Father Thaddeus Kiwera officiating. Burial was at 3 p.m. in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, with full military honors. The rosary was said July 4 at 7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.
Survivors include his mother, Mauda Stewart Jones, Canton; a son, John Jones; two daughters, Elana Jones Kingsbury, Louisville, and Jennifer Samarco, St. Petersburg, Fla.; his fiancée, June Ramsey, Louisville; a brother, Donald B. Jones, Canton; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Howard E. Dixon
Mr. Howard E. Dixon, 72, of Zephyrhills, died Friday, June 7, 2002.
Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his sons, Billy G. Dixon and Robert Kelly.
The funeral was June 10 at 10 a.m. at the Garden Memories Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Dessie Ruth Dixon; a son, Charlie (Bonnie) Dixon; Robin (David) Dixon Doran and Bobbie (Forrest) D. Jones; children, Linda (Steve) Hemby, Carolyn Smith and Lester (Diane) Kelly; sisters, Mary McNair and Louetta Bryant, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Earline Padgett
Mrs. Earline Padgett, 70, of Keysville died Sunday, June 30, 2002.
Mrs. Padgett, a native of Glascock County, was the daughter of the late Shady Earl Smith and Mary Laura Chalker Williford. She had lived in Dearing before moving to Keysville three years ago. She was also a member of Magnolia Baptist Church.
The funeral was July 2 at 2 p.m. at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Ghann officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her husband, Hill Padgett; two daughters, Gail (Eugene) Norris, Warrenton, and Angie (Bill) Kemp, Gibson; one brother, Earl Smith, Gibson; one sister, Carolyn Shaw, Warrenton; five grandchildren and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Billy Sturdivant; and a sister, Hazel Hunnicut.

Mr. Mitchell A. Goodwin, 67, of Augusta died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital.
Mr. Goodwin, a native of Jefferson County, was a sales manager with Pet Dairy and a Methodist. He was a member and past president of the Richmond Reelers Square Dance Club.
The funeral was July 2 at 11 a.m. from the Elliott Sons Lumpkin Road Chapel with the Rev. Matt Judd officiating. Burial was in Westover Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Libby S. Goodwin; two sons, Ronald Goodwin, Colonial Heights, Va., and Donald Goodwin, Wilmington, Del.; and three daughters, Gale Phillips, Colonial Heights, Susan Goodwin and Jennifer Warden, both of Augusta.

Mrs. Ruby Lee Jackson Wilson of Wadley died Friday, June 21, 2002, in Augusta.

Survivors include two nephews, Lemmie Bryant and Tyrone Bryant of Manhattan, N.Y.; and an aunt, Ms. Ethel Jackson Green, Wadley.
