Helen H. Williams
Mrs. Helen H. Williams, 82, of Wrens died Sept. 29, 2002.
Mrs. Williams was a retired high school science teacher and a member of the Wrens Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church where she taught an adult Sunday school class. She was a member of the Wrens Garden Club, Retired Teachers Association, Wrens Library Board and the Keenagers. She gave of her time for the Wrens Blood Drive, the Cancer Relay for Life and various church organizations.
The funeral was Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Gary Jones and Race Lariscy officiating. Burial was in the Wrens City Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann W. Williams, Augusta; one son James L. Williams and his wife, Alisa, Snellville; two sisters, Frankie Jones, Matthews, and Kate Gay, Wrens; one brother, Hoyt A. Haulbrook Jr., Thomson; and four grandchildren, Shelley A. Williams, Amanda B. Williams, J. Christopher Williams and Ashley H. Williams.
Pallbearers were Mike Jones, Billy Gay, Gene Gay, Phillip Haulbrook, Gary Nelson, Larry Flowers, Phillip Story and Robbie Wiggins.

Elaine Langham Ballinger
Mrs. Elaine Langham Ballinger, 59, of Dallas died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002.
Mrs. Ballinger, a native of Warren County, was a schoolteacher at Blackwell Elementary School in Marietta. She was a graduate of Berry College and a member of St. Teresa Episcopal Church. Mrs. Ballinger was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil L. and Florrie B. Langham of Warren County.
A memorial service was held Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa Episcopal Church, Acworth, with Father Michael Billingsley officiating. Burial was at 4 p.m. in the Gibson City Cemetery, Gibson.
Survivors include her husband, James A. Ballinger; two sons, Jonathan Swanson, Acworth, and David (Cheryl) Swanson, Tallahassee, Fla.; one stepson, Chris (Danielle) Ballinger, Carrolton; one stepdaughter, Mandy Ballinger, Foley, Ala.; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Linda L. (Thomas) Beckworth, Stapleton; 11 uncles; 10 aunts; one nephew; three nieces; one great-nephew and two great-nieces.

Verle Peters
Mr. Verle Peters, 61, of Louisville died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Peters, a native of Michigan, was a dairyman and a member of the Pinecrest Mennonite Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ileen Peters; stepmother, Laila Peters, and his twin brother Merle Peters.
The funeral was Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. at Pinecrest Mennonite Church with Maynard Peters, Randall Goossen, Danber Nichols and Paul Wenger officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his father, LeRoy Peters, Middleburg, Pa., three brothers, Alden Peters, Stapleton, Art (Susie) Peters, Dawsonville, and Glenn (Letha) Peters, Stapleton; a sister-in-law, Cora Peters; one sister, Marcille (Lyle) Holdeman, Middleburg, Pa.; stepsister, Patricia (Marion) Holdeman, Stapleton; special friends and neighbors, Kevin and Jacqueline Penner; several nieces and nephews and numerous relatives and friends.

Rosa Martin Wilcher
Mrs. Rosa Martin Wilcher of Wadley died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, in Augusta.
The funeral was Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill A.M.E. Church in Bartow.
Survivors include one son, Robert Martin, Wadley; three step-sisters, Estella Jordan and Willie Bell Wilcher, Wadley, and Ola Mae Gamble, Swainsboro; one brother, Willie Harmon, Youngstown, Ohio three stepbrothers, Ronnie Harmon, Rev. John Harmon and Freddie Lee Williams, Wadley; and two grandchildren.

Everett "Boss" Usry
Mr. Everett "Boss" Usry, 82, of Wrens died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002.
Mr. Usry was preceded in death by a brother, Garvin Usry; a sister, Marjorie Connell; and a granddaughter, Connie Tidwell.
The funeral was Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Roy White and Bill Berry officiating. Burial was in the Wrens City Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Usry; two daughters, Ann Tidwell, Smyrna, and Ellen Bailey, Marietta; three sisters, Oglis Norton, Gibson, Pauline Montgomery, Thomson, and Wauline Susie, Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren, Rodney Bailey, Marietta, D.D. Bailey, Louisville, and Misty T. Gardner, Powder Springs.

Geraldine (Jerry) Turner Hardin
Mrs. Geraldine (Jerry) Turner Hardin, 74, of Augusta died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta.
Mrs. Hardin, a native of Glascock County, was retired from Lily Tulip where she worked for 27 years.
The funeral was Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Bruwer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. John Hardin; two sisters, Mrs. Polly Chalker, Gibson, and Mrs. Ponda T. Johnson, Warrenton; four nieces and seven nephews.
Pallbearers were Mark Lyons, Chris Chalker, Shawn Johnson, Byrnie Hardin Jr., Randy Hardin and Brian Hardin.

Rudolph Daniel Martin
Mr. Rudolph Daniel Martin, 69, of Bartow died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at Medical College of Georgia.
Mr. Martin, a native of Jefferson County, was employed by Fulghum Industries in Wadley as a security guard. He was a member of Nails Creek Baptist Church and a veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Grace Martin, and a sister, Dot Woodard.
The funeral was Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Quint Shepherd officiating. Burial was in Lake Cemetery, Metter.
Survivors include a brother, Murphy E. Martin, Sandersville; a sister, Helen M. Carpenter, Bartow; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Billy Morris, Louie Handberry, Danny Woodard, Jimmy Black, Gene Hall and Albert Duncan.
Honorary pallbearer was Zollie Compton.
John McClelland Raines Jr.
Mr. John McClelland Raines Jr., 81, of Louisville died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Raines was the son of the late John M. and Florence McNeely Raines Sr. He was retired from the Raines Brothers Construction Company, a member and a Deacon of the Louisville First Baptist Church. He was a member of Stonewall Masonic Lodge #98 of Louisville where he served as a Past Master. Mr. Raines was in the U.S. Navy during WW II where he was in the invasion of North Africa, Sicily, wounded on Red Omaha on June 6, 1944 during the invasion of Europe. He was the husband of the late Bebe Zeigler Raines of Louisville.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the First Baptist Church of Louisville with the Rev. Larry Mongomery officiating.. Burial was in the Louisville City cemetery with military honoros.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Tanya R. McCormick, Kennesaw, and Mrs. Janet Pilcher, Wrens; a son, James Vincent Raines, Matthews; three grandchildren, Mary Frances Pilcher and Elizabeth Pilcher and Michael McCormick; a brother, J. Larry Raines Sr., Louisville; two sisters, Mrs. Jane Wimberly, Louisville, and Mrs. Kathryn Cooper, Wadley; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were nephews, Stan Johnson, Chris Raines, Larry Raines Jr., Charles Pollette, Charles Wimberly, Gus Cooper, Phil Cooper, Thad Raines, Steve Raines, Jed Raines and Bill Raines.

Margaret Steadham Gibbons
Mrs. Margaret Steadham Gibbons, 83, of Donalsonville died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, in the Donalsonville Hospital.
Mrs. Gibbons, a native of Decatur County, was the only child of William James and Eula Dysart Steadham. She worked for the Georgia Farm Bureau as a secretary for several years. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as and elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher.
The funeral was Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Lattie Collins officiating. Burial was in the Friendship cemetery in Donalsonville.
Survivors include her husband, Fred L. "Smokey" Gibbons; one son Chris (Betty) Gibbons, Thomson; three daughters, Gayle (Bob) Swan, Wrens, and Marsha (Ed) Bond and Donna (John) Moye, Donalsonville; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Blaine Touchton, Andy Mathis, Bob Swan Jr., Brad Swan, Lawson Swan and Scott Tiner.

Mrs. Daisy Huff, 101, of Stapleton died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002.
Mrs. Huff was a McDuffie County native and a member of The United House of Prayer for All People, Dearing.
The funeral was Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. at the United House of Prayer for All People with Apostle Willie Williams officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Willie Albert Daniels of Wadley died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Louisville.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Lizzie Page Daniels; six daughters, Barbara Ann Mercer and Bernestine Carswell, Jacksonville, Fla., Gloria Jean Cason and Mary Lizzie Cannon, Wrightsville; Annie Lois Jackson, Dothan, Ala., and Susie Credit, Balch Spring, Texas; four sons, Freddie Lee Demons and Kirk Daniels, Jacksonville, Fla., Willie Arthur Daniels, North Royalton, Ohio, and Larry Daniels, Savannah; two sisters, Lizzie Kate May, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mae Nealy Cameron, Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Bobby Daniels, Jacksonville, Fla., 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Andrew Jackson Borders III
Mr. Andrew Jackson Borders III, 58, of Davisboro died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002.
Mr. Borders, a native of Greenwood, SC, was an artist and teacher. He was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Borders Jr. and the late Marion Seigler Borders Gibbs.
A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date.
Survivors inclued his wife, Donna Norton Borders, Davisboro; four children, Anna Blair Dahl, Breaux Bridge, La., Jessica Lee McAdams, Macon, Andrew Jackson Borders IV, Harrisburg, Pa., and Leila Thomas Graham Borders, Davisboro; and five grandchildren.
