Christina R. Wright
Mrs. Christina R. Wright, 87, of Keysville died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at Burke Medical Center in Waynesboro.

Mrs. Wright was a retired merchandiser specializing in ladies dresses. She was Presbyterian and attended Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Gwinnett County before moving to the Waynesboro area 10 years ago. She is preceded in death by a son, John B. Wright.

A memorial service was held Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. at Keysville Nursing Home Activity Room with the Rev. Jody Boulineau officiating. Burial was in Burke Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband, Burl M. Wright.

DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, Waynesboro, was in charge of the arrangements.

Betty "Mama Betty" Brown
Mrs. Betty "Mama Betty" Brown died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004.

The funeral was Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. at Trumpet In Zion, Augusta.

Survivors include her husband, Henry L. Brown Sr.; one son, Henry (Patricia) L. Brown Jr.; five daughters, D'Quilla (Victor) Mitchell Ross, Portia (Ellis) McDaniel, Bobbie Jean (Michael) Roberts, Twila (Antonio) Brown-Lovett and April (Edwin McCoy; grandchildren, Taura Mitchell, Ellis McDaniel III, Joshua McDaniel, Reggie McDaniel, Jabari Roberts, Michelle Roberts, Michael Roberts Jr., Ryan Ross, Devin Lovett, Michael McCoy, K'Darius Wright and Hannah L. Brown; four grandchildren; several sisters-in-law and cousins.

Palmer Gordon Edenfield Jr.
Mr. Palmer Gordon Edenfield Jr., 82, of Wadley died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at Azalea Trace Nursing Center, Columbus.

Mr. Edenfield, a native of Wadley, was retired as vice president of The Bank of Wadley and a U.S. Veteran.

Graveside services were Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Wadley cemetery with the Rev. Tom Harrison officiating.

Survivors include an aunt, Emma Smith, Statesboro; a sister, Betty Smith, Columbus; a nephew, Thomas (Cheryl) Garrett, Swainsboro; a niece, Melissa Coker, Columbus; and several great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Wiregrass Hospice, 507 Dillingham St., Phenix City, AL 36867.

Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Marcus Hall
Mr. Marcus Hall of Louisville died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004.

Mr. Hall, a native of Louisville, attended the public school system in Jefferson County. At an early age he joined Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church where he served as Trustee and Treasurer of the Trustee Board and he also sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Inner Men Male Chorus. He retired from Thermo King in 1995 after 35 years of service and was a retired custodian of Louisville Academy. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Gibbons.

The funeral was Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine B. Hall; sons, Johnny Lee (Mary Alice) Davis, Lawrence Davis Sr., and Marion (Sonja) Thomas, Dublin; daughters, Glennis Dukes and Shirley Thomas, Louisville; siblings, John (Liz) Hall, Miami, Fla., James Hall Jr., Nell Dawkins, Queenie Brown (Otis) Puryear, Winnie Hall, Springfiled, Mass., Clarence Hall, Ft. Lauderdale; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and Hattie Boatwright; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Christopher Brown, Bruce Heggs, Larry Jordan, Westley Thompson, Harold Thompson and Duran Stone.

Garrer Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James Kendrick
Mr. James Kendrick of Warrenton died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Kendrick was a member of William Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and a member of the Usher Board. He was educated in the Glascock County School System. He began employment with JEBCO and later owned and operated Kendrick Q in Warrenton.

The funeral was Nov. 13 at William Grove Baptist Church in Warrenton with the Rev. Leroy Hudson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Trisha Kendrick; two sons, James Kendrick and Jason Kendrick; three sisters, Ella Barnes, Sparta, Mary Bell and Marion Harris, Warrenton; four brothers, Clarence Grier, Lakeland, Fla., Eddie Kendrick, Thomson, Jerry Ivey and Alexander Ivey, Mitchell.

Dawson's Mortuary, Warrenton, was in charge of the services.

Bessie Cochran Russell
Mrs. Bessie Cochran Russell, 89, of Keysville died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004.

Mrs. Russell was a native of Burke County. She was an active member of Keysville Methodist Church and then the Keysville Evangelistic Church. For over 30 years she was the Keysville Community Correspondent for The True Citizen. She served as PTA president in the Keysville and Waynesboro Schools and was a substitute teacher in the Wrens Elementary School. Both the Eugene Talmadge Memorial Association and the National Federation of Republican Women honored her with life memberships. The Augusta Chronicle/Herald selected her as a Woman of the Year in Religious Organizations because of her work at Mt. Moriah Camp Meeting Ladies Auxiliary.

Graveside services were Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at 2 p.m. at Keysville Methodist Cemetery.

Survivors include her four children, Oliver O. Russell Jr., Keysville, Richard Aubrey Russell, Yorktown, Va., Amanda R. Hutcherson, Fayetteville, and John Paul Russell, Columbia, S.C.; one brother, Joseph Upton Cochran, Keysville; one sister, Ruby Grace Williams, Wadley; five granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to your church or mission.

Ernestine Mathews
Mrs. Ernestine Mathews, 82, of Wadley died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Glendale Nursing Home in Wadely.

Mrs. Mathews was born in Cameron, S.C., but had lived in Wadley for the past 54 years. She was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Graveside services were Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Wadley cemetery with the Revs. Ray Garren and Charles Wallace officiating.

Survivors include three sons, John D. (Judy) Mathews Jr., Wadley, Joe W. Mathews and Charles E. Mathews, Swainsboro; a daughter, Every M. (William) Belcher, Bartow; three brothers, John Mitchum, Sammie Mitchum and Kenneth Mitchum, all of S.C.; four sisters, Dorothy Mae Huger, Effie Storie, Katherine Sinn and Eva Claire Mitchum, S.C.; two granddaughters, Toni M. Belcher and Felicia D. Mathews; and a longtime companion, Archie Hall, Wadley.

Memorials may be made to the St. Johns United Methodist Church, c/o Betty Anderson, 397 Williams St., Wadley, GA 30477.

Johnny Lee McBride
Mr. Johnny Lee McBride of Maryland died Nov. 8, 2004.

Mr. McBride, a native of Jefferson County, was the son of the late Robert and Josephine Whitehead McBride. He was employed by Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.

The funeral was Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his aunt, Doretha Whitehead, Louisville; and several cousins.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ann Kitchens Reynolds
Mrs. Ann Kitchens Reynolds, 90, of Augusta died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at University Hospital.

Mrs. Reynolds was a native of Louisville and had made Augusta her home for the past 38 years. She volunteered with the Veterans Administration Medical Center in the downtown and uptown division. She was a member of Gold Star Wives of America; she was a Department Commander of Disabled Americans Veterans Auxiliary from 1981 to 1982. She was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church and the Faith Bible Sunday School Class.

The funeral was Nov; 17 at 2 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel with the Rev. Robert Driggers officiating. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include five generations of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were John Brinson, Wade Maddocks, Walter Edmunds, Matthew Maddocks, Adam Edmunds and William Jowers.

Memorials may be made to the Pine Hill Baptist Church, 4235 Old Waynesboro Road, Hephzibah, GA 30815.

Ernest Poole
Mr. Ernest Poole of Augusta died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home.

Mr. Poole, a native of Jefferson County, had spent most of his life in the Augusta area. He was a Methodist and a truck driver for Phoenix Oil Company for many years. He was also a veteran of World War II. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Syble Poole.

Graveside services were Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. at Waldens United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Gene Frazier officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Poole; three sons, Toney Poole, Covington, Rick Poole, Grovetown, and Mike Poole, Michigan; three adopted children, J.R. Lackes, Christopher Lackes and Dana Lackes, all of Augusta; two step-daughters, Brenda Burr, Trenton, S.C., Linda Fuechsel, Augusta; 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Augusta, were3 in charge of the arrangements.

Jeffrey "Mark" Purvis
Mr. Jeffrey "Mark" Purvis, 16, of Stapleton died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004.

Cadet Ensign Jeffrey M. Purvis was a member of the Navy Junior ROTC and in the junior class at Jefferson County High School. He loved hunting, fishing and anything that had to do with the military. His dream was to serve his country by joining the Navy. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Louisville.

A Mass was held Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. in the Jefferson County High School Gym. Immediately following the Mass a service was held on the football field. Burial was in Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother Susan Prescott (Rusty) Buckner, Stapleton; his father, Marty (Sherry) Purvis, Wrens; two sisters, Macy Purvis, Stapleton, and Jeri Reed, Wrens; two brothers, Michael Thompson, Wrens, and Christopher Buckner, Athens; and his grandfather, Norwood Prescott, Matthews.

Pallbearers were members of the Navy Junior ROTC.

Honorary pallbearers were Commander Charles Lewis, Chief Joseph Cable, Alvin Radford, Russell Bice, Mark Ellis, Roy Wheeler, Phillip Wheeler and Jeremy Brassell.

James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Sallie Lou Amerson McDonald
Mrs. Sallie Lou Amerson McDonald of Mitchell died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004.

The funeral was Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Bradley and Burt Tapley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard McDonald; three daughters Diane (Larry) Raley, Jewell; Jane McDonald, Decatur, and Dale Garner, Mitchell; one sister, Margaret Jones, Sandersville; four grandchildren, Charles Raley, Camak, Melissa Surles, Mitchell, Michael Garner, Milledgeville, and Allison Garner, Statesboro; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Michael Garner, Charles Raley, Julian Jones, Gary Mooney, Jason Surles and Bobby Lee McDonald.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Mrs. Ethel Trimble, 90, of Wrens died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004.

The funeral was Nov. 18 at 3:30 p.m. at Waysgrove Baptist Church in Stellaville with the Rev. Jimmy McCollough officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors included a devoted niece and caretaker, Lucinda Walker; several nieces and nephews and other relative.

Freeman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
