Arvell Dixon Bales
Mrs. Arvell Dixon Bales, 96, of Mitchell died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Bales was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Malcom Bales.

The funeral was Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Revs. Carter Hudson and Bill Seaman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Bessie Moore, Avera, and Ann Bradford, Gibson; two sons, David Bales, Gibson, and Farris Bales, Mitchell; one nephew, John Black; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tray Franks, John Bales, S.J. Bradford, Jeff Davis, Gregory Roper and Steve Arrington.

Memorials may be made to the Glascock County Concerned Citizens in care of Mrs. Corene Chalker, 3037 Bastonville Road, Gibson, GA 30810.

Sheppard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Arthur L. Burley
Mr. Arthur L. Burley, 79, of Syracuse, N.Y., died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at Veterans Hospital in Syracuse.

Mr. Burley was a native of Jefferson County and had made Syracuse his home for the past 45 years.

The funeral was Nov. 19 in Syracuse, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Burley; his daughters, Jenny Burley and Brenda Burley, Syracuse, Ruby Stapleton, Wrens and Wanda Burley, Louisville; a stepdaughter, Louise Stapleton, Wrens; his sons, Bobby Burley, Commerce, Arthur (Doris) Burley, Ronnie Burley Sr., Benny Burley and Todd Denson, all of Syracuse; 28 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Bobby Harold Crosby
Mr. Bobby Harold Crosby, 50, of Thomson died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Mr. Crosby, a native of McDuffie County, was retired as a Georgia State Trooper after 32 years of service and lived most of his life in Thomson. He was a member and a deacon of Pine Grove Baptist Church, a Master Mason of the A.J. Miller Masonic Lodge and Alee Shrine Temple, past president of the Thomson Shrine Club, member and president of the Blue Knights Georgia IV, member of the Association of State Troopers, member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association and past president and current board member of the Georgia Department of Public Safety Credit Union.

The funeral was Nov. 30 at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Thomson, with Butch Baston officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia J. Crosby; children, Michael (Katie) Crosby and Tiffany Guthrie, Thomson, and Alecia Shaw, Stockbridge; his mother, Mrs. Frances (George Tudor) Crosby, Dearing; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dennis Jones, Rick Fletcher, Roy Russell, Gary Harden, Rodney Wilcher and Jimmy Williams.

Honorary pallbearers were members of Law Enforcement and Deacons of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church, 3127 Pine Grove Church Drive, N.E., Thomson, GA 30824.

Willie Mose "Teddy" Strowbridge Sr.
Mr. Willie Mose "Teddy" Strowbridge Sr. of Wadley died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2004.

The funeral was Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at San Clair Baptist Church with Pastor James Strowbridge officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include five daughters, Linda Lewis, Midville, Carlene McGruder, Augusta, Annie Bessie Murphy and Bonnie Strowbridge, Wadley, and Betty Brown, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one sons, Hosea Strowbridge, Wadley; one sister, Katherine Dixon, Savannah; two brothers, Frank Strowbridge, Claxton, and George Wesley Strowbridge, Wrightsville; 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Martin Hernandez
Mr. Martin Hernandez, 21, of Wrens died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004.

The funeral was Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Collison and Father Larry Goulding officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Victoria McNeal Hernandez; two stepdaughters, Samantha (Armando) Sanchez Parra, Augusta, and Santana Avery, Matthews; a grandchild, Simuel De'Miles Avery; his father, Jose Lazaro Rangel, San Luis Potosi, Mexico; five sisters and three brothers of Mexico; and his mother-in-law, Lula McNeal, Matthews.

Freeman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Catherine Trimble Davis
Mrs. Catherine Trimble Davis, 96, of Wrens died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004.

The funeral was Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Ways Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy McCullough III officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include a devoted niece, Mrs. Lucinda Walker, Wrens; and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Burnett Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Harry "Woody" Boyd
Mr. Harry "Woody" Boyd, 61, of Gibson died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004.

Mr. Boyd served in the Army where he received numerous medals including a Purple Heart. He was a member of Coleman Chapel United Methodist Church and was employed with the Jefferson County Magistrate Court as a Constable for nine years. He is preceded in death by his mother Ivey Dell Newsome McZilkey and father Milton McZilkey.

The funeral was Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ray Garren, Jerry Rockefeller and Ed Renew officiating. Burial was at Coleman Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery in Wadley.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Boyd; three sons, Kevin Boyd, Milledgeville, Tommy (Pam) Rodgers, Thomson, and Daniel (Heather) Rodgers, Dublin; three daughters, Suzanne (Shawn) Bowden, Beach Island, S.C., Leigh (Ryan) Coxville, Gibson, and Chrissy Wiggins, Harlem; his step-mother, Betty McZilkey, Harlem; two brothers, James (Donna) Boyd, N. Charleston, S.C., and Alvin Phillips, Harlem; one sister, Kathleen (Jim) McCarty, Thomson; a devoted friend, Betty Bowman, Wadley; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Murry Bowman, Johnny Hayes, Shawn Bowden, Marcus Miller, Joe Davis and Mitchell McGraw.

Honorary pallbearers were Jefferson County Law Enforcement and Glascock County Sheriff Bryan Bopp.

Louise Farmer Murray Clements
Mrs. Louise Farmer Murray Clements, 94, of Washington D.C. died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at The Methodist Home of the District of Columbia.

Mrs. Clements, a native of Jefferson County, was a long-time resident of Atlanta and had lived in Washington since 1997. She was the daughter of Henry R. Farmer and Clara Denny Farmer. She was a graduate of Wrens High School and attended the University of Georgia. She received a normal diploma from South Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro. She received a B.S. in Education from Oglethorpe University. She was an associate member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She belonged to United Methodist Women's, the Needle Workers Guild of America, the DAR, the Colonial Dames of the XVII'th Century and Alpha Delta Kappa, a professional educator's society. She was predeceased by her husband Donald F. Clements, and three siblings, Henry Pierce Farmer, Virginia Eubanks and George Denny Farmer.

The funeral was Dec. 4 at 1:30 p.m. at the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home with Dr. John M. Youngier Jr. officiating. Burial was in Ways Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Harriett Murray (Dr. Charles C.) Reeder, Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Frederick Denny (Anita) Clements, Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Jefferson L. Reeder, Jonathan D. Reeder, George Denny Farmer, James G. Farmer II, Wayne P. Farmer II, David Eubanks, Joseph Eubanks and Kenneth R. Farmer.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Children's Home, 500 South Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030, or any charity of choice.

Willie Chantless Farr
Mr. Willie Chantless Farr died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Doctor's Hospital

Graveside services were Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Dewain French officiating.

Survivors include his sister, Barbara Clements; a nephew, Paul G. Clements; a niece, Debra Lemke; and a great-niece and three great nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

Ronnie Victor Hunley Sr.
Mr. Ronnie Victor Hunley Sr., 65, of Louisville died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at the VA Medical Center in Augusta.

Mr. Hunley, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church. He was a retired veteran with the US Army after 27 years of service.

The funeral was Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. at Canaan Galilee Baptist Church and Spring Bethel Benevolent Society Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Seafus Hunley; his children, Ronnie Victor Hunley Jr., Eric Hunley and Tasha Hunley, Monks Corner, SC; stepchildren, Alicia Bynes, Kehaun Holloway, Twane Holloway and Kenneth Holloway, Louisville, Vera Ruff, Virginia Beach, Va.; siblings, Lillie Mae Tarver, Bessie Thomas, Daisy Green, Leola Jackson, Bartow, Maggie Williams, Wadley, and Alice Heggs, Louisville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Nora "Candy" Louise Johnson
Mrs. Nora "Candy" Louise Johnson, 55, of Gibson died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

Mrs. Johnson, a native of Augusta, lived in Colorado before moving to Gibson 20 years ago. She was a homemaker and managed food service for many years. She was a member of the Gibson Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin T. Johnson Sr. and her parents Chalmers Dewitt Usry and Louise Newsome Brooks.

The funeral was Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Kitchens officiating. Burial was in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Martin Thomas Johnson Jr., Gibson, and Tommy Malcolm (Roxanne) Johnson, Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Anna Marie (Chris) Kitchens, Thomson; two sisters, Gail Newsome, Thomson, and Faye Redfern, Dublin; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Florine and Ken Kurtz, Melbourne, Fla.; two grandchildren and one nephew.

Pallbearers were Lester Newsome, Jim Owens, Mike Lyons, Thomas Chalker, Julian Kitchens and Talmadge Chalker.

Mr. Timothy Wicker Sr., 36, of Louisville, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at the Medical College of Georgia.

Mr. Wicker was a native of Jefferson County where he lived most of his life. He was a member of the Canaan Galilee Baptist Church and retired from Central Steel.

Survivors include his children, Timeia Wicker, Louisville, and Timothy Wicker Jr., Fla.; his mother, Mildred Wicker, Louisville; a special friend, Dorothy Palmer, Louisville; his siblings, Sandra Holmes, Sabrina Wicker, Georgia Ann Wicker and Donald Wicker, Louisville, Barbara Terrell and Catherine Fiends, Bell Glade, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Patsy Lynn Thurmond Boulineau
Mrs. Patsy Lynn Thurmond Boulineau, 39, of Carnesville died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Stephens County Hospital

Mrs. Boulineau, a native of Franklin County, was a homemaker and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She was the daughter of Kendall and Selma Brown Thurmond. She is predeceased by a sister, Judy Thurmond.

The funeral was Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. at the B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Revs. Jerome Hill and Leon Carson officiating. Burial was in the Allens United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Bounineau; a daughter, Becky Boulineau; brothers, Joe Dan Thurmond, Ed Thurmond, Jimmy Thurmond, Roger Thurmond and David Thurmond, all of Carnesville; sisters, Geneva Savage, Toccoa, and Cathy Franklin, Carnesville.
