Sara Dell McGahee
Mrs. Sara Dell McGahee, 74, of Thomson died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. McGahee was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County. She was retired as a bookkeeper. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Thomson, and was a member of the Thomson Lioness Club.

The funeral was Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Widener officiating. Burial was in West View Cemetery, Thomson.

Survivors include five daughters, Mary Patsy (Bill) Reese, Mitchell, Rita (Miguel) Faure, Appling, Gloria (Brian) Machalk, Louisville, Kathy (David) Gunnels, Wrens, and Tonya (Robert) Gunby, Stapleton; a sister, Juanita Welmaker, Warrenton; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Matthew Holley, Eric Usry, Shannon Graham, Chris Gunnels, Matthew McGahee, Stanley McGahee, Brandon McGahee and Josh McGahee.

Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, was in charge of the arrangements.

Sarah Williams "Nanny" Duggan
Mrs. Sarah Williams "Nanny" Duggan, 82, of Augusta died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004.

Mrs. Duggan, a native of Stapleton, had lived in Augusta most of her life and was retired from Kendall Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Duggan.

The funeral was Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. in the Thomas Poteet & Son Chapel with the Rev. Larry Harmon officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn (Billy) Weeks, Augusta; a son, Gene (Carol) Duggan, Evans; brothers, Buford Williams, Gibson, Cecil Williams, Augusta, and Joe Williams, Keysville; sisters, Mary Hall, Augusta, and Margaret Payton, Texas; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tommy Price, Tommy Price Jr., Regis Quintin, Walter Gaskill, George Williams, Pat Young and Bostick Chavous.

Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, Augusta, was in charge of the arrangements.

Landon Jeremiah Ferron
Mr. Landon Jeremiah Ferron of Hephzibah died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004.

Graveside services were Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Brian Crosby and Pastor George Holcombe Jr. officiating.

Survivors include his parents, Jason and Cynthia Williams Ferron; a brother, Brent Ferron, Hephzibah; maternal grandparents, Denise and Glenn Braddock, Gibson, and Lamar and Fran Williams, Byron; maternal great-grandparents, Nell Crosby, Hephzibah, Grady Williams, Lumber City, and Inez Williams, Callahan, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Randy R. Ferron, Grovetown, and Julie and Gustave Easter, Harriman, Tenn.; and great-grandparent, Frances Ferron, Waynesboro.

Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, Augusta, was in charge of the arrangements.

Beatrice Demeatral Hobbs
Mrs. Beatrice Demeatral Hobbs, 55, of Augusta died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at University Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Oliver Hobbs Jr.; two daughters, Yolanda T. Brown, Augusta, Lorraine D. (Stafford Sr.) Williams, Ms.; one son, Rev. Flavius M (Arlene) Hobbs, Hephzibah; mother, Clara Brown, Louisville; three sisters, Earnestine (Bobby) Butts, Patricia A. Brown, Louisville, Mary Walker, Keysville; one brother, Homer L. Brown III, Wrens; seven grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Williams Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

William "Catfish" Reese
Mr. William "Catfish" Reese, 75, of Harlem died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004.

Mr. Reese, a native of Gibson, had been a resident of the Augusta for over 50 years. He was the owner and operator of Catfish Used Cars of Augusta for over 40 years. He was the former and current owner of Gordon Park Speedway in Grovetown. He was a former member of Fleming Christian Church, Westside Christian Church and currently at Columbia County Christian Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is predeceased by his wife Dot Reese.

The funeral was Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. at Columbia County Christian Church, Martinez, with Ministers Mike Klaus and Barry Clanton officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include a son, Tony Gene Reese; two daughters, Janet Trail, Dublin, and Tammy Davis, Grovetown; one sister, Mary Smith, Augusta; two sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one nephew.

Memorials may be made to the Columbia County Christian Church, 4004 Prescott Drive, Martinez, GA 30907.

Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Martinez, was in charge of the arrangements.

Hester Frances Dixon
Mrs. Hester Frances Dixon, 88, of Gibson died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Dixon was retired from the Georgia Department of Human Resources. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hilman Dixon, John Dixon and Howard Dixon.

The funeral was Dec. 12 at Shepard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Griffin Thompson officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include one brother, Charlie Dixon, Barnwell, SC; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Essie Dixon, Louisville, and Meryl Dixon, Covington; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Richard Dixon, Jonathan Dixon, Howard Ellison, John Evans Jr., Steve Sulligan and Daryl Martell.

Shepard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Margie Thompson McLendon
Mrs. Margie Thompson McLendon, 65, of Louisville died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004.

Mrs. McLendon was born in Dooly County to the late Bessie Floyd and Horace Thompson. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville and a homemaker.

The funeral was Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Montgomery and Chaplain Alan Faulkner officiating. Burial was in Louisville City Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Marcus McLendon; a son Keith (Linda Bargainnier) McClendon, Louisville; a daughter, Jan McLendon (Ricky) Wasden, Louisville; two sisters, Essie Goodroe, Warner Robbins, and Rubye Moore, Tifton; two brothers, Marvin Thompson, Warner Robbins, and Jerry Thompson, Marietta; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Emma Stone McLendon; 14 nieces and nephews and 21 great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Wallace Miller, Bobby Minton, Claude Vines, Marion Milburn, Ernie Smith, J.E. Davisd, Tom Armistead, Franky Hartley, Gary Hutchins and Howard McLeod.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904; American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904; or First Baptist Church, 101 East 9th Street, Louisville, GA 30434.

Sara Dunn Toulson
Mrs. Sara Dunn Toulson, 94, of Sparta died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at the Providence Health Care Center.

Mrs. Toulson was a native and lifelong resident of Hancock County. She was the daughter of the late Carlos B. Dunn and Tommie Carr Dunn. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and also attended Jewel Baptist Church where she was a member of WMU and Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. She was a retired clerk from Central State Hospital in Milledgeville. She was preceded in death by her husband Veasey Toulson.

The funeral was Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. at Jewell Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Braswell, Bill Seaman and Kyle Woodfin officiating. Burial was in the Dunn Family cemetery in Hancock County.

Survivors include two great-nephews, Jay Abbott, Sparta, and Christopher Abbott, Macon; a niece, Betsy Abbott, Eatonton; sister-in-law, Mrs. Thomas Dunn, Sparta; nephews, Ray Toulson and Sammy Toulson, Mitchell, Billy Dunn, Milledgeville, and Janie Dunn, Macon.

Pallbearers were Ray Toulson, Sammy Toulson, Jay Abbott, Chris Abbott, Billy Dunn, Herb Davis and Steve Davis.

Ruth Cooper Andrews
Mrs. Ruth Cooper Andrews, 94, of Louisville died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004.

Mrs. Andrews, a native of Hall County, was a life-long resident of Louisville. She was the oldest member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church where she served as the church pianist for over 80 years and was a former employee of Hartley-Rhodes 5&10. She was predeceased by her husband, Mr. Jim Andrews.

The funeral was Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. at Old Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Thigpen officiating.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Ronnie Newman, Evans; and two grandchildren, Ryne Newman and Lauren Newman.

Pallbearers were Ryne Newman, Max Walden, Robert Huff, Fred Flowers, Billy Cooper and Larry Cooper.

Honorary pallbearers were the nephews and deacons of Old Bethel Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Old Bethel Baptist Church Building fund, Bartow, GA 30413.

Marcus Hall
Mr. Marcus Hall of Louisville died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004.

Mr. Hall, a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, attended the public schools in Jefferson County. He was retired from Thermo King after 35 years of service. He was a member of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a member of the trustee board and a member of the choir.

The funeral was Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Fredrick Ricks officiating and the Rev. Connie Allen assisting. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Boatwright; sons, Johnny Lee Davis, Louisville, Lawerance Davis and J. and Marion Thomas, Dublin; daughters, Glennis Dukes and Shirley Thomas, Louisville; brothers, John Hall, Miami, Fla., Clarence Hall, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and James Hall Jr., Springfield, Mass.; sisters, Nell Dawkins, Queenie Brown Puryear and Winnie Hall, Springfield, Mass.; one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, 15 children, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers were Christopher Brown, Duran Stone, Larry Jordan, Bruce Heggs and Wesley Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons and trustees of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church.

Garrer Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Anna Bell Jackson Harmon
Mrs. Anna Bell Jackson Harmon died Monday, October 18, 2004, in Augusta.

The funeral was Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Old Bethel Baptist Church in Bartow with the Rev. K.C. Davis officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Price, Bartow and Zeffie Marshall, Tampa, Fla.; one son, Albert Harmon, Wadley; one sister, Vonnie Harmon, Wadley; and one brother, Ernest D. Daniels, Miami, Fla.; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Ross Jacobsen
Mr. Ross Jacobsen, 84, of Gibson died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004.

Mr. Jacobsen was a Navy veteran of World War II where he fought on the USS Maryland, the USS Alhema and the USS Tuscalosa. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Columbus.

Graveside services were Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. at Johnson United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Mike Cook officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth J. Jacobsen; one son, Ross (Jacquline) Jacobsen Jr.; one daughter, Robin (Victor) Usry; one brother, John (Sally) Jacobsen, St. George, Utah; two aunts and one cousin.

Pallbearers were Robert Davis, Jake Pollard, Charles Harper, Dough Price, Billy Wasden and Lee Griffin.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Hospice, Augusta, Ga.
