Jack Pilcher Williams Sr.
Mr. Jack Pilcher Williams Sr., 67, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Friday, May 28, 2004.

Mr. Williams, a native of Wrens, was the son of the late William Homer and Alma Hadden Williams. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Broadmoor Rotary Club, Colorado Jaycees, president of El Paso County 4-H, board of directors for the March of Dimes and the Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of Goodwill Industries, board of directors of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb and Cheyenne Mountain Country Club, chairman of the athletic committee for Pauline Memorial School; chaired numerous fundraising boards and committees including American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. He was a member of first Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs.

Celebration of Life service was held June 3 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two sons, George Williams and Jack and Denise Williams; four daughters, Susan and David Kiggins, Kim and Tim Galloway, Kay and Aaron Wiltfong, and Margot and Harry Reeme, Colorado; two brothers, Mervin Williams, Augusta, and Bob Williams, York Town, Va.; three sisters, Betty Pennington, Matthews, Edith Williams, Jacksonville, Fla., and Catherine Newsome, Augusta; eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to local chapters of American Heart Association and American Cancer Society.

Swan-Law Funeral Directors was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert S. Inglett Sr.
Mr. Robert S. Inglett Sr., 62, of Wrens died Thursday, June 3, 2004.

Mr. Inglett retired from J.M. Huber as a Senior Project Engineer. He was a member of Battle Ground Sportsman Club, Raysville Boat Club and Wrens Baptist Church.

Memorial services were held June 5 at 11 a.m. at Wrens Baptist Church with the Rev. Race Lariscy officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy; one son, Robert Inglett Jr., Wrens; three daughters, Donna Bailey, Wrens, Becky Waller, Augusta, and Channing Gruvernator, Virg.; one brother, Eugene Inglett, Calif.; one sister, Agnes McTier, Wrens; and five grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Ronald Boulineau, Wesley Williams, Glenn Turcotte, Lee Woods, J.D. Champion, Rusty Turner, Wayne Elliott, Tommy McGahee, Gene Prescott, Stacey Rabun, Herbert Roland, John Whatley, Grady Templeton, Ben Hall, Archie Graham, William Key, Ray Smith, Ricky Huff, Ray Walden and Vernon McNeely.

Memorials may be made to Relay For Life, c/o Karen Walden, P.O. Box 5, Matthews, GA 30818.

Sandra Hawk Kay
Mrs. Sandra Hawk Kay of Stapleton died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Medical College of Georgia.

Mrs. Kay was born in Augusta and was retired as an aide with Gracewood State Hospital and School.

The funeral was June 9 at 2 p.m. at the Poteet Funeral Home South Chapel with the Rev. Nicky Bush officiating.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Grissett, Martinez, and Melody Hyatt, Augusta; one son, Jimmy Kay, Martinez; one sister, Brenda Bunn, Twin City; five grandchildren; and her fiancé, William Ganus.

Poteet Funeral Home South Chapel, Augusta, was in charge of the arrangements.

Sallie L. Daniels
Evangelist Sallie L. Daniels, 60, died Thursday, June, 3, 2004 in Augusta.

Evangelist Daniels was a native of Jefferson County, a member and an ordained minister of the House at Magnolia Baptist Church. She was a retired mental health worker with New York.

The funeral was June 9 at 1 p.m. at the Magnolia Baptist Church and cemetery with Ministers LaVelton Daniels, James Daniels, Christopher Durden, David Batts, Chavis Boyd and Perry Daniels officiating.

Survivors include her children, Kim C. Hinkson, Augusta, Theodore L. Daniels and Edmund J. Hinkson Jr., Nashville, Tenn.; her siblings, Alfletia Anderson, Memphis, Tenn., Julius Daniels Jr., New York, John Lewis Daniels, Mary Dixon, Danny Daniels and Thomas Daniels, Wrens, John Willie Daniels, Amityville, NY, Margaret Ann Holmes, Keysville, and Nathaniel Holmes; eight grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James Harold "Jim" Brooks Sr.
Mr. James Harold "Jim" Brooks Sr., 76, of Martinez died Saturday, June 5, 2004.

Mr. Brooks was born in Wrens to the late Lemuel and Annie Thigpen Brooks. He was in the Merchant Marines and then joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. After returning from military service he worked for Bellsouth Telephone Company and retired with 38 years of service. He retired after 28 years as a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy Seabees Reserve. He was a member of Fleming Baptist Church, Wymberly Association Social Club, the Star Promenaders Square Dance Club, two R.V. Clubs and both Doctors and University Hospitals Senior Friends.

Graveside services were held June 7 at 11:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Billy Atkins officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Breshears Brooks; a son, James H. and Sharon Brooks Jr.; Social Circle; two daughters, Rebecca and Victor McCann, Clarks Hill, SC, and Lisa and Mark Jones, Appling; two brothers, Johnny Brooks, Dearing, and Aubrey Brooks, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a sister, Joyce Hughes, Thomson; six grandsons and two great-grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers were the Martin Cave Sunday School Class.

Memorials may be made to Fleming Baptist Church, 3027 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA 30906 or St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

Ida Ruth Brown
Mrs. Ida Ruth Brown, 84, of Wrens died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at University Hospital.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Wrens Baptist Church and a member of the Agnes Martin Sunday School Class. She also attended Keenagers and WM U.She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Effie McCulley; brothers, George and Frank McCulley; sisters, Janie Smith and Ruby Griffin; and grandson, Thomas Lewis Watkins Jr.

The funeral is June 10 at 11 a.m. at Wrens Baptist Church with the Rev. Race Lariscy officiating. Burial will be at Parker Methodist Church Cemetery, Bartow.

Survivors include one son, Donald and Georgia Brown, Columbia, Ill.; one daughter, Elaine and Tommy Watkins, Wrens; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Ray Smith, Walter Prescott, Bobby Braswell, Oliver Gay, Andy Brown, Eric Brown, Josh Brown and Tim Watkins.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Agnes Martin Sunday School Class.

Memorials may be made to Wrens Baptist Church Building Fund, 500 North Main Street, Wrens, GA 30833.

Nathaniel Floyd
Mr. Nathaniel Floyd, 82, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Glendale Nursing Home.

Mr. Floyd was a native of Jefferson County and a former member of the Solomon Temple Baptist Church.

No services will be held.

Survivors include his daughters, Ruthie Dallas and Mamie Floyd, Louisville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Bernice Arnold
Mrs. Bernice Arnold died Thursday, May 20, 2004.

The funeral was May 25 at 1 p.m. at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Walker officiating. Eulogist was the Rev. B.J. Johnson of greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Burial was in South View Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Mr. Otis Arnold; two sisters, Mrs. Ozzie Quarterman and Mrs. Johnnie Harriston; one brother, Mr. and Mrs. William Freeman, Louisville; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy Barrow Atwell
Mrs. Dorothy Barrow Atwell of Matthews died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Eisenhower Hospital.

Mrs. Atwell, a native of Jefferson County, graduated from the University of Georgia where she received both B.S. and M.A. degrees. She taught high school, was a guidance counselor and an athlete. She coached basketball during her teaching years. She was on the editorial staff of the Augusta Chronicle for many years and was office manager for Barrow and Prescott Inc. in Matthews. She was a member of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Horace C. and Jenny Wilson Barrow. She is preceded in death by a brother, Ralph C. Barrow and two sisters, Rosa Barrow Hamilton and Nell Barrow Walden.

The funeral was May 27 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Walden and Rev. Robert Garrett officiating.

Survivors include her husband, W.T. Atwell; a son, David L. and Karen Bryant; grandchildren, Krista Ledbetter and Lee Bryant; great-grandchildren, Lee Bryant Jr. and Anna Bryant; a sister, Sara Barrow Pennington; a brother, Pritchard Wilson; nieces Jenny Pennington, Lyn Williams, Emily Farmer; and nephew Joe Walden.

Pallbearers were Stewart Ray, J. Barrow Walden, Lee Newman, Timmy Chance, Charles Stewart and John Williams.

George Lenward Brown Jr.
Mr. George Lenward Brown Jr. died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta..

Mr. Brown, a native of Jefferson County, was a sergeant with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Stone Springfield AME Church. He was a 1975 graduate of Wrens High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1975 until 1978. He is preceded in death by his father, George Lenward Brown Sr.

Funeral services were May 30 at 2 p.m. at Stone Springfield AME Church with the Rev. Samuel Thompkins officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Louise Brown, Wrens; two brothers, Calvin L. (Tracy) Brown, Stapleton, and Franklin K. Brown, Lithonia; two sisters, Lorane Brown, Lithonia, and Sharon L. Brown, Stone Mountain; a niece, Kayla Johnson, McDonough; two nephews, Jordan Christopher Johnson, McDonough, and Rontavious Lewis, Stapleton; two devoted best friends Jon Hills and his wife Laura Hills; aunts, Bessie M. Brown, Marie Lane, Georgia Lane and Clara Little, all of Wrens, Milo (James) Yancy, Stapleton, Alto Brown, Riviera Beach, Fla., and Adell Noble, Philadelphia, Pa.; and three uncles, Charlie Lane Jr. and Dwellie (Lola) Lane, Stapleton, and Lorin B. Brown, Los Angeles, Calif.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Mallory) Arnett, Lincolnton, and Shelia Roberts, Matthews; four brothers, Clarence (Sarah) Birt, Wrens, Roosevelt Birt, Glenn (Jeanette) Birt and Victor Birt, all of Matthews; six sisters, Evelyn Smith, Patricia Birt and Cathy Birt, all of Wrens, Elaine (Roger) Wynn, Hephzibah, Debra (Robert) Terry, Henderson, NC, and Shawanda Birt, Matthews; three grandchildren, Sharonda Birt, Sheila Stone and Kanesha Roberts; four great-grandchildren; a devoted friend, Jenning Stone, Louisville; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Helen Frances Hines Bradburn
Mrs. Helen Frances Hines Bradburn, 80, of Union, SC, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, in Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Bradburn, a native of Union, was the daughter of the late Lewis and Lois Willard Hines. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was on the Bereavement Committee and was a member of the Mary Garner Sunday School class. She was retired from Cone Mills - Carlisle Finishing Plant.

The funeral is June 3 at 3 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Revs. Roger Plemmons, Mike Moody, Brad Goodale and Garland Hullender officiating. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband, John R. Bradburn; two daughters and their husbands, Jerry and Larry O'Shields, Union, and Sue and Ott Stephens, Louisville; a brother, Willard (Wishie) Hines, Union; four grandchildren, Rev. Brad Goodale, Allison O'Shields Waters, Angela Hullender and Mark Stephens; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund, 915 South Pickney St., Union, SC, or to the Philippi Baptist Church Building Fund, 327 Phillipi Church Rd., Union, SC 29379, or to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, Louisville.
