Mrs. Janie "Itty Bitty" Taylor, 52, of Augusta died Saturday, April 3, 2004.
Mrs. Taylor, a native of Richmond County, was a 1971 graduate of T.W. Josey High School and a nursing assistant.
The funeral was April 10 at noon at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Clarence Brown officiating. Burial was in the Southview Cemetery.
Survivors include her adopted mother, Lillie Mae Martin, Augusta; four sisters, Mattie Hannah, Avera, Rosa Lee House, Elaine Ford and Phillis Perkins, all of Augusta; four brothers, Jack Jenkins, Millen, James Walton Jr., Valdosta, Julian Walton, Minister, John Walton, Augusta; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Sara Beckham
Mrs. Sara Beckham of Augusta died Monday, March 29, 2004.
Mrs. Beckham, a native of Jefferson County, had lived most of her life in Augusta. She was retired from I.E. Dupont and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Beckham.
Graveside services were April 1 at 3 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Rick Lamp officiating.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Joe A. and Cathie Newsome, Eddie and Sirlene Newsome, and Elaine and Wayne Brewer; a half-sister, Hazel; a half-brother, Everett; a brother-in-law, Joe Newsome; and uncle, William T. Coxwell; stepchildren, Beth Dolack, Linda McCrohan, Hal Beckham and Cindy Roberts; 16 grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Gladys Bell
Mrs. Gladys Bell, 80 of Louisville died Friday, March 26, 2004, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Mrs. Bell was the daughter of the late James and Lelia Scott Barton.
The funeral was March 31 at 1 p.m. at Fairfield Baptist Church in New Ellenton, SC. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Evans Williams of Aiken.

Reba Collins
Mrs. Reba Collins of Jackson, SC, died Tuesday, March 20, 2004.
Mrs. Collins, a native of Jefferson County and former resident of Old Ellenton, SC, lived in Jackson for the past 52 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson and the Philathia Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis F. Collins Sr.
The funeral was April 2 at 11 a.m. in the Jackson Memorial cemetery with the Revs. Edward Newsome and Donald F. Lumpkin officiating.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Willis F. and Betty Faye Collins Jr., Jackson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Nelle and Bill Berry, Belvedere, SC, and Lynda E. and Gary LaBruyere, Chapin, SC; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary A. Copeland, 82, of Gibson died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside services were April 2 at 11 a.m. at Gibson First Baptist Church cemetery with the Elder Lee Price officiating.
Survivors include one daughter, Nadine Dietmann; two sisters, Charlotte Netherland and Ruth Sanders; one brother, Otis Marshall; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mary Borders Crain
Mrs. Mary Borders Crain, 81, of Thomson died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Crain, a native of Hancock County, attended schools in Hancock and Warren Counties. She graduated from Warren County High School and attended Tift College, Georgia Southern and graduated from Athens Business College and Atlanta Law School. She retired from the Norfolk-Southern Railway in June of 1987. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Crain; E. Paul Borders and C. Reid Borders.
Graveside services were April 4 at 2 p.m. in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Albert Huyck officiating.
Survivors include Neil Crain, Taylors, SC., James Borders, Lakemont, John Borders, Warrenton, Jack B. Borders, Louisville, Ethel B. Harris, Washington, Lucy B. McCorkle, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

W. Albert Land
Mr. W. Albert Land, 71, of Thomson died Thursday, April 1, 2004, in McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Land, a native of Glascock County, had lived in Thomson for many years. He was retired from the Southern Roadbuilders Division of Apac of Georgia. He was a member of the Little River Cattlemen's Association and of Sweetwater Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son Stan Land, and his grandson, Adam McCorkle.
The funeral was April 4 at 4 p.m. at Sweetwater Baptist Church wit the Revs. Kenneth Garvin and J.B. Redd and Mr. W.B. Cooper officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Land; his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Rick McCorkle; his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Lea Land, Asburn; a sister, Judy Land McCreary, Lantana, Fla.; three brothers, Bobby Land, William Land and Hubert Land, all of Thomson; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jared Land, Parker Land, Keith Land, Hollis Land, Dennis Allen, Tony Stevenson, Pete Bales and Roger Burton. Honorary pallbearers were workers at Southern Roadbuilders.

Ms. Marian McClattie of Augusta died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta.
Ms. McClattie was a member of Trinity CME Church. She retired from Richmond County BOE (Tutt School Cafeteria). She was educated in Richmond County Public Schools and graduated from Luvenia Pearson School of Cosmotology.
The funeral was April 4 at 3 p.m. at W.H. Mays Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Samuel Tankersly officiating. Burial was in Summerville Cemetery.

Dorothy Buxton Coleman
Mrs. Dorothy Buxton Coleman, 47, of Gibson died Tuesday, March 23, 2004.
Mrs. Coleman, a native of Burke County, was a spot welder at Air Balance Inc. in Wrens. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Girard.
The funeral was March 25 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Methodist Church, Glascock County, with the Revs. Bill Daniel and Lonnie E. McCall Sr. officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Crystal McCall, Mitchell, and Faith Ann Coleman, Augusta; three sons, Leon Coleman, Gibson, Allen Coleman, Thomson, and Tracy Coleman, Gibson; her father, Ben F. Buxton Jr., Girard; her mother, Mildred Reddick Buxton, Sardis; one brother, Larry Buxton, Girard; and one sister, Kay Wilson, Perkins; and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Luella Haynes of Wrens died Thursday, March 25, 2004.
Mrs. Haynes is the daughter of the late Issac and Madie Jenkins.
The funeral was March 28 at 3 p.m. at Wrens Chapel AME Church with Pastor Lugenia Johnson officiating. Burial was in Sugar Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Ralph) Jordan and Alice Mae (Henry) Smith, both of Wrens; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Mayo, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Jeanne Louise Prescott
Mrs. Jeanne Louise Prescott, 72, of Columbus died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at the Medical Center.
Mrs. Prescott, a native of Danville, Ill., had lived in Columbus since 1950. She was the daughter of the late James Herbert Runyan and Marguerite Amelia Citizen Runyan. She played the piano at the Hamilton Nursing Home for many years. She was an active member of the Mohina Woods Garden Club, formerly a member of the Azalea Garden Club and the P.T.A. She was a St. Francis Auxiliary Volunteer and a volunteer with Contact with over 1000 hours. She was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
The funeral was March 24 at 2 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Macon Road Chapel with the Revs. William Smith and Mark Chandler officiating. Burial was in Parkhill Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, James Prescott; a daughter and her husband, Margie and Ruben Swint, Snellville; a son and his wife, Tommy and Nancy Prescott, Columbus; a grandson, Christopher Swint, Snellville; two granddaughters, Riley Prescott and Blair Prescott, both of Columbus; two brothers-in-law, Charles Prescott and Walter Prescott, both of Wrens; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lamar Lee "Jack" Brooks, 79, of Wrens died Sunday, March 21, 2004.
Mr. Brooks served in the Army and was a WWII veteran. He is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Jane M. Brooks.

Mrs. Lorena K. Holdeman, 91, of Louisville died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Jefferson Hospital.
Mrs. Holdeman, a native of McPherson County, Kan., spent her last years in Jefferson County. She was a member of Pinecrest Mennonite Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver W. Holdeman.
