Mrs. Cora Lee Young Johnson of Wadley died Sunday, March 14, 2004.
The funeral was March 20 at 11 a.m. at New Fleming Baptist Church, Bartow, with the Rev. C. Cason officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Johnson; two sons, Benjamin Young, Louisville, and Joseph Johnson, Swainsboro; a brother, Eddie Lee Young; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Everlena R. Mathis
Mrs. Everlena R. Mathis, 92, of Wrens died Friday, March 18, 2004.
The funeral was March 23 at 2 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. W.L. Jones officiating. Burial was in Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, Matthews.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Reba M. Goodson, Wrens; one son, Mr. Johnny Mathis, Brooklyn, NY; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Willie Roberson Jr.
Mr. Willie Roberson Jr., 75, of Lake Wales, Fla., died Saturday, March 13, 2004.
Mr. Roberson, a native of Washington County, was a certified mechanic and a member of Evening Stars and The Singing Tones. He was the son of the late Willie Robinson Sr. and Lula Gilbert Robinson. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.
The funeral was March 20 at 11 a.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church in Tennille. Burial was in Samuel Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Tennille.
Survivors include his wife, Tinny Mae Akins Roberson; three children, Clarence (Vertina) Roberson and Barbara (Barney) Davis, Lake Wales, Fla., and Patricia (Jimmy) Taylor, Tennille; his siblings, Ethel Peterson and A.J. (Addie Lee) Roberson, Tennille, Paul (Estlla) Roberson, Deep Step; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Julia Pearl Roberson, Essie Mae Roberson, Pinkie Lue Roberson and Jennie Mae Roberson, Tennille, Richard and Vera Akins, Orlando, Fla., John L. and Carol Akins, Jimmy and Marium Devero, Dolly and Elijah Davis, Lake Wales, Fla., Sylvester Austin, Detroit, Mich., and Mary Archie Bell, Brooksville, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Teresa Gwen Thurman Usry
Mrs. Teresa Gwen Thurman Usry of Thomson died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Medical College of Georgia.
Mrs. Usry was born in Emanuel County but had lived in Thomson for the past 22 years. She was a pharmacy technician with Moye Pharmacy. She was a 1977 graduate of Swainsboro High School and a member of Wrens Church of God.
The funeral was March 18 at 3 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Terry Addis and Ron Lawson officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Moye Pharmacy and Long-Term Care.
Survivors include her husband, Garry Usry, Thomson; a daughter, Tiffany Usry, Thomson; her father, Bobby Thurman, Swainsboro; her mother, Joyce Bedgood Thurman, Swainsboro; a brother, Ricky Thurman, Swainsboro; and a sister, Lisa Braswell, Griffin.

Ralph E. Bales
Rev. Ralph E. Bales, 87, of Mitchell died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville.
Rev. Bales, a native of Washington County, lived in Glascock County most of his life. He was the founder and senior pastor of Mitchell Full Gospel Church for 29 years. He was a farmer, carpenter, brick mason and a school bus driver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenice Cooper Bales.
The funeral was March 15 at 4 p.m. at the Mitchell Full Gospel Church with the Revs. Jacky Downs and Eddie Renew officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Gary Bales; two daughters, Cristal Hunnicutt and Kay Downs, all of Mitchell; two brothers, Roger Bales, Gibson, and Bill Bales, Thomson; two sisters, Ethel Wood, Thomson, and Louise McNeal, Gibson; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ron Powell, Sam Griswold, Kent Daniel, Robert Landrum, Gene Johnson and James Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were grandsons.

James Warren Baxter
Mr. James Warren Baxter, 39, of Houston, Texas, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at his home following an 18-year battle with neurofibromatosis.
Mr. Baxter was a native of Louisville. He was a Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia and earned his Ph.D. in philosophy. Through his influence the Carolyn Farb Neurofibromatosis Lectureship was established at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Dr. James Wright Pilcher Sr. and Neil and Louise Baxter.
The funeral was March 15 at 2 p.m. at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Houston, with the Rev. Richard Elwood officiating and the Rev. Ed Abell assisting. Graveside services were March 16 at 4 p.m. in Louisville City cemetery with the Rev. Pat Mahan officiating.
Survivors include his parents, Frances and Donald E. Baxter, MD; a sister Marian (Graham) Farebrother; a niece, Emma Louise Thurmond; his grandmother, Mary Frances Pilcher, Louisville; his uncles, James Wright (Grace) Pilcher, MD, Dalton, John (Janet) Pilcher, Wrens, Judge Jerry (Alice) Baxter, Atlanta, Jim (Barbara) Baxter; his aunts, Elizabeth (Robert) Gunby, MD, Dallas, Judy (Charles) Altman, Statesboro; and caregivers and friends, Billy Simpson and George Munoz.

Mary B. Foskey
Mrs. Mary B. Foskey, 87, of Wadley died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Washington County Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Foskey, formerly of Wrightsville, was born in Laurens County, but had lived in Wadley since 1942. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wadley United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Will Evans Sunday School Class.
Graveside services were March 15 at 11 a.m. at the Wadley cemetery with Dr. Larry Sauls officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Wadley United Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. Mary Foskey.
Survivors include two sons, Brad (Holly) Foskey, Charlotte, NC, and Randall (Debbie) Foskey, Williamsburg, Va.; three sisters, Renard Spivey, Macon, Helen Webb, Dublin, and Edna Kaney, Macon; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Kathleen McCoy Haywood
Mrs. Kathleen McCoy Haywood, 85, of Gibson died Thursday, March 12, 2004, at Gibson Health Center of Gibson.
Mrs. Haywood was a native of Augusta and had lived her entire life in the Augusta area. She retired from Elliott Sons Funeral Home in 1985 where she was the first house manager on Lumpkin Road.
Graveside services were March 13 at 11 a.m. at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Michael Davenport officiating.
Survivors include one son, Thomas M. McCoy, Columbia; one daughter, Marie Annett Bobo, Evans; one sister, Avis Herman, Kent, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Danny Dean Sheppard
Mr. Danny Dean Sheppard, 44, of Bartow died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Jefferson Hospital.
Mr. Sheppard, a native of Jefferson County, was the son of the late Ralph E. Sheppard. He was a member of the Josey Baptist Church.
The funeral was March 16 at 2 p.m. at Josey Baptist Church with the Rev. Inman Gerald officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Nell Barrow Walden
Mrs. Nell Barrow Walden, 79, of Matthews died Monday, March 15, 2004.
Mrs. Walden, a lifelong resident of the Matthews Community, received her education at Matthews School, Wrens High School, the Junior College of Augusta and also taught elementary school for many years. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a leader for the MYF for more than 30 years. Until her health failed, she was also an active member of the John Franklin Wren Chapter NSDAR of which she was an organizing member. She was also Chapter Regent from 1976-1978.
The funeral was March 17 at James Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. with her son, Pastor Joe B. Walden Sr. officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Methodist Church Cemetery. She is predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Barrow, brother, Ralph Barrow, and sister, Rosa B. Hamilton.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Walden; one daughter, Lynn (Gene) Walden Williams; one son, Joe (Karen) Barrow Walden; four grandchildren, John (Pam) Walden Williams, Jennifer (Timmy) Walden Chance, Laice (Lee) Walden Newman and J. Barrow Walden Jr., all of Matthews; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sara (Herbert) Barrow Pennington and Dorothy (W.T.) Barrow Atwell, all of Matthews; one brother, W. (Maxine) Prichard Wilson, Albany; six nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews.

Olin Bryan Brown III
Mr. Olin Bryan Brown III, 74, of Wrens died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Mr. Brown was a graduate of Gordon Military High School at Barnesville and the University of Georgia at Athens. He served two years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a First Lieutenant. While in Korea he was a Platoon Leader in the 2nd Infantry Division and served as an Aerial Observer with the United States Air Force before returning to the States. Mr. Brown was an insurance agent with State Farm Insurance in Augusta for 40 years. He was a former member of South Augusta Optimist Club, American Business Men's Association and Augusta Life Underwriters Association. In addition he was also an active member of Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 172 and during retirement he built and flew ultra light aircraft.
He was a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher at Hillcrest Baptist Church for over 40 years. He was also Sunday School Director for eight years and served on many church related committees.
The funeral was March 5 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Dr. Gordon Robinson officiating. Burial was at Ways Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Allene Brown; one son, Sidney A. (Catherine) Brown, Evans; and two grandchildren, Benjamin Brown, 14, and Bethany Brown, 8, of Evans.
Pallbearers were Michael Adams, Bryan Adams, Fredric Ready, Alex Ready, James L. Cox and John Adams.
Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of Hillcrest Baptist Church, members of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 172 and Augusta District State Farm Agents.

Ms. Dorothy Jean Bryant, 49, of Augusta died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Ms. Bryant, a native of Burke County, attended Burke County schools and was a graduate of Augusta Technical Institute. She was employed at Edna Barmore's Innovations in Augusta for over 25 years. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Bryant Jr.
The funeral was March 6 at 1 p.m. at Bark Camp Baptist Church in Midville with the Rev. Boyd officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Rosa Lee Bryant, Midville; two sons, Michael Donnell (Virginia) Bryant Sr., Louisville, and Thomas Allen Gross, Midville; two grandsons, Michael Donell Bryant Jr. and Christopher Darius Roberts, Louisville; four sisters, Hattie Mae Bush and Dora (Authur) Doyle, both of Midville, Annie Pearl Sims and Mary (Robert) Leath, both of Ft.
