Mr. Rusty “Edward” O. Mullis Jr., 50, died Wednesday,
Nov. 15, 2006.Mr. Mullins was the son of Edward O. and Kathryn S. Mullins Sr.
He was owner of Wooden Features Inc.
A memorial service was held Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. in the Belair Rd. Chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Race Lariscy officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kay Mullins; one sister, Nancy and Tommy Brown, Wrens; one niece, Angie Newman; and one nephew, David Brown.

Addie Lee Paradice
Mrs. Addie Lee Paradice, 98, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley.
Mrs. Paradice, a native of Washington County, was a member of Parker United Methodist Church.
She was a resident of Glendale Nursing Home for the past 12 years.
The funeral was Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Sauls officiating.
Burial was in Parkers United Methodist Church cemetery.Survivors include a son, Walter Paradice, Bartow.Pallbearers were David Moore, Billy Neal, Paul Ledger, Chip Evans, Grove Cobb, Fred Evans and Clay Neal.

James Patrick “Jim” Pate Jr.
Mr. James Patrick “Jim” Pate Jr., 50, of Gibson died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006.Mr. Pate, a native of Washington County, was the son of the late James Patrick “Pat” Pate Sr.
He worked in the maintenance department at Thiele Kaolin Company Reedy Creek division.
He was a volunteer fireman with the Gibson/Glascock Fire Department, a former member of the Glascock County Board of Education and was also a member of the Gibson Masonic Lodge. Growing up, he was a Boy Scout obtaining the rank of an Eagle Scout and was a member of Sandersville United Methodist Church.
He was a graduate of Brentwood School and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
The funeral was Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at Sandersville united Methodist Church with the Revs. Randall Whitaker and Mike Brown officiating.
Burial was in the Davisboro City Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Debora G. Pate; children, Cassie P. (Clay) Prescott, Avera,
and April P. (Stacy) Faglier, Stapleton; two grandchildren, Jayna Prescott and Taylor Prescott; his mother, Jane S. Pate, Sandersville; sister, Lynn P. (Brannon) Bonifay, Stuart, Fla.; and step-sons Tony Hattaway and Chris Hattaway, Gibson.
Pallbearers were Tony Kelley, Timmy Usry, David Logan, Gary Usry, John Callaway,
Johnnie Crutchfield, Larry Braswell and Lee Horton.
Honorary pallbearers were Thiele Reedy Creek employees and the Gibson/Glascock Fire Department.

Daisy Sammons Sheppard
Mrs. Daisy Sammons Sheppard of Gibson died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Spring Valley Health Care Center in Elberton.
Mrs. Sheppard was a member of Gibson First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, played the piano and organ and was church treasurer for many years. She was retired as a teacher in the Glascock County School System. She also graduated from Glascock County School System and from the Textile Industrial Institute in Spartanburg, SC. She was retired as owner and funeral director of Sheppard Funeral Home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Sheppard.
Graveside services were Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. at Gibson First Baptist Church cemetery with the Revs. Bill Seaman and Lester Clark officiating.
Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Iola (Allen) Stone, Elberton; and several nieces and nephews.

William G. "Billy" Allen
Mr. William G. "Billy" Allen, 79, of Warrenton died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Allen, a native of Albany, was a longtime resident of the Glascock-Warren county area. He was a retired dispatcher with Sonitrol and a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II and a member of Mitchell United Methodist Church.
Memorial services were held Jan. 3 at the Mitchell United Methodist Church with Mary Ann Braswell officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Janet M. Allen of Warrenton and Port Orange, Fla.

James Eliott Barrow
Mr. James Eliott Barrow, 84, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005.
Mr. Barrow, a native of Matthews, was the son of James Ezra (Doc) Barrow and Sara Murray. He attended primary school in Matthews and secondary school in Wrens before going to Augusta College for one year and then transferring to the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a degree in mechanical engineering. On graduating he went to work for Westinghouse in steam turbine generator design until the outbreak of WWII when he enlisted and was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. Much of his four-year Navy career was spent as a primary flight instructor. After discharge from the military he returned home and farmed with his father before going to work first as a manufacturing consultant at a facility in Waynesboro and later as general manager of Knox Warrenton Company, a metal kitchen cabinet manufacturer in Warrenton. In 1956 he left Knox Warrenton and with J.A. (Red) Thrift Jr. founded JEBCO Inc., a contract manufacturing concern, in Jonesboro. The 1958 addition of P.H. Giddens formed the nucleus of the management team that would successfully guide JEBCO for thirty-plus years. JEBCO continues in business under the guidance of James Barrow, Randy Thrift and Stephen Giddens, the grandson and sons of the founding management team.
A graveside service was held Dec. 30 at 3 p.m. at Ways Baptist Church cemetery followed by a memorial service at the home of James Eliott Barrow Jr.

Helen O'Kane Brooks
Mrs. Helen O'Kane Brooks, 51, of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, in a Queens hospital.
Mrs. Brooks, a native of Jefferson County, was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson County High. She was the widow of the late Marvin Brooks. After relocating to N.Y., Helen worked as manager for several banks and investments firms. She was currently employed by Morgan-Stanley Investment Co.; she started a branch of Kiwanis Club, Soap Opera Derby and owned her own travel group agency.
The funeral will be Jan. 6 at noon at the St. Antioch Baptist Church in Queens, N.Y.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Marie and James O'Kane, N.Y.; her children, Kasey Brooks and De'Shean Brooks, Brooklyn; her siblings including her twin Ellen (Dwight) Jackson, Atlanta, Regina Grier, Ulanda Nelson, Kimberly Harp and Reginald Carter, all of Atlanta, Janice O'Kane, Brooklyn and Susan Hankins, N.J.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita Reaves, Mattie Flournoy, Elsie Whitfield, Shirley Dogan, Eva Walden, Joe L. Brooks, Freddie Brooks, James Brooks and Eddie Brooks.

Mr. James William Cain, 27, of Louisville died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005.

Eddie "Toby" McBride
Mr. Eddie "Toby" McBride died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, at an Augusta hospital.
Mr. McBride, the oldest member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church, served on the Deacon Board. He was also a member of the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society. He was retired from J.P. Stevens - Forstmann and Co. Inc. as a machine repairman.
The funeral was Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church. Burial was in Spring Bethel Society Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Mary L. Curtis, Louisville, Edweeda Hobbs, Miramar, Fla., and Eddie Willie (Brenda) McBride, West Palm Beach. Fla.; one sister-in-law, Maggie McBride, Louisville; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Miss Michelle JoAnn McLester, 20, of Sandersville died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005.

Louise Coleman "Tiny" McNeely
Mrs. Louise Coleman "Tiny" McNeely of Wadley died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005.
Mrs. McNeely, a native of Emanuel County, was the daughter of the late Elisha and Hattie Coleman. She had worked for the Louisville Shirt Factory and was a member of the Moxley United Methodist Church.
Graveside services were Jan. 3 at 2 p.m. in the Moxley United Methodist Church cemetery with the Revs. Don Lovejoy and Ray Jenkins officiating.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty (Buddy) Rivers, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mitchell Morgan Sr.
Mr. Mitchell Morgan Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at an Augusta hospital.
Mr. Morgan, a native of Jefferson County, was retired from Scarboro Paving Company.
The funeral was Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Burial was in the Ebenezer CME Church cemetery.

Booker T. Murray
Mr. Booker T. Murray of Hephzibah died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at Portsbridge Hospice.
Mr. Murray was the owner/operator of Murrays Garage. He retired from the US Army as a staff sergeant after 20 years of service. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and also in Korea. He received several medals during his time in service. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #248. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Smith Murray and James Murray.
Memorial services were Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Clarissa Enders Murray of Hephzibah; his children, Bergin Murray, Wrens, Felicia Murray, Hephzibah, Theoedore Murray, Kevin Murray, Francine Liggins, Linda Shinuald and Steven White, all of St. Louis, Mo., and Lisa Brown Garrett, Md.; sisters, Doris Triplett and Blanch Cunningham, both of St. Louis; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
