Mrs. Bernese Thigpen Price, 92, of Wrightsville died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005.

Mrs. Price, a native of Laurens County, was the daughter of the late Joel and Lora Lindsey Thigpen. She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Forrest Buford Price Sr., and a son, Jack Price

The funeral was Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Ray Wallace and Jimmy Harris officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnell Price Fussell, Lizella, and Connie Taylor, Davisboro; two sons, Forrest Buford Price Jr. and Prentice Price, Wrightsville; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Aaron Price, Jay Price, Jason Dye, Josh Dye, Bobby Lindsey and Dale Crooms.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Stanley Funeral Home, Wrightsville, was in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Edward Sause Jr.
Mr. Thomas Edward Sause Jr., 55, of Bartow died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005.

The funeral was Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary. Burial was in Eastbrook Cemetery.

Betty Godowns Boulineau
Mrs. Betty Godowns Boulineau, 82, of Stellaville died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mrs. Boulineau was a member of Ways Baptist Church. She was activity director at Old Capital Inn Nursing Home.

The funeral was Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. at Ways Baptist Church with the Revs. Race Lariscy and Tom Harrison officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Larry (Luanne) Boulineau, Louisville, and Max (Ardys) Goodman, Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Terri (Frank) Johnson, Bartow, and Catherine B. Hall, Wrens; one brother, Wilbur (Earlene) Godowns, Louisville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Billy Weatherford, Faye McGahee, Pat Bell, Scott Boulineau, Josh Johnson, Ricky Godowns and Bill Goodman.

Honorary pallbearers were George Samples, Gary Hutchins, Billy Godowns, Johnny Goodin, Dr. J.B. Polhill, Jimmy Fleming, John Swann and Marvin Reese.

James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy "Dot" Wright Johnson Edgar
Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Wright Johnson Edgar, 80, of Augusta died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mrs. Edgar, a native of Wrens, had made the Augusta area her home for most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her husband Roy Edgar, and three sons, Randy Edgar, Marion Edgar and Dennis Edgar.

Funeral services and burial will be held at a later date.

Survivors include five sons, Roy William Edgar, James Thomas Edgar and Charles Kelley Edgar, Augusta, Ollie Lee Edgar and David Donnall Edgar, Grovetown; five daughters, Mary Jeanett Edgar Byce, Molly D. Edgar Kneece and Norma Jean Edgar Cooper, Hephzibah, Julia Ann Edgar Rabon and Betty Christine Edgar Garvin, Augusta; one brother, Charles Johnson, Wrens; one sister, Barbara Moore, Wrightsville; 26 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Elliott Sons Funeral Home Lumpkin Road Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Lee Howard
Mr. Robert Lee Howard, 57, of Louisville died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006.

Mr. Howard, a native of Jefferson County, attended Jefferson County High School and was a former member of the Sons of Louisville Lodge #579. At an early age he joined the Canaan Galilee Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon in 1984 and sang in the Male Chorus. He was a member of the Lone Star Society and was employed by Gardner Farm Inc. since 2003 as a machine operator.

The funeral was Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Canaan Galilee Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Stokes officiating. Burial was in the Lone Star Society Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Gladys Bethea Howard; his mother, Fannie Maude Lane Howard; his children, Sharon Howard, Kimberly Howard and Shavonne Howard, Louisville, and Roselyn Howard, Bartow; stepchildren, Darin (Carrie) Williams, Victor (Charlotte) Williams and Monica (Andrew) Weems, Atlanta; his siblings, Catherine (Florence) Davis, Otis (Edna) Howard, Myles (Rose) Howard and Jerome Howard, Louisville, Betty Jean (Albert) Thomas, Augusta, Willie Howard, Tacoma, Wash., Cleveland (Michelle) Howard, Newport News, Va., Mary (Jack) Johnson, Wadley, and James (Pauline) Howard, Hephzibah; three grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Reginald (Kathy) Bethea, Louisville, Ella Mae Howard, Waynesboro; three aunts, two uncles and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Hilton Douglas Johnson Jr.
Mr. Hilton Douglas Johnson Jr. of Mitchell died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Johnson, a native of Augusta, was a papermaker and worked for Augusta Newsprint for 31 years. He served as union president and retired as a paper mill foreman. He was a member of Gibson Church of God.

The funeral was Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with the Rev. Steve Lamb officiating. Burial was in Westover Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Ann Johnson; sons, Hilton Douglas "Trey" Johnson III, Jeremiah Ewell Johnson and Douglas Elijah Johnson; daughters, April Elaine Hodges, Jennifer Beatrice Brown and Sarah Elisabeth Johnson; stepsons, Joel F. Huffman Jr., William T. Huffman and Steven N. Huffman; sisters, Janet J. Cain and Judy J. Lamb; 10 grandchildren; and special cousins, Randolph L. "Randy" Johnson II and Lena Coleman.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were colleagues of Augusta Newsprint.

Mary Catherine Johnson
Mrs. Mary Catherine Johnson, 91, of Warrenton died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at the Warrenton Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Johnson, a native of Jefferson County, resided in Warren County most of her life. She was the daughter of Will and Daisy Whited. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Johnson; 12 children; and two brothers.

The funeral was Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. at Zoar United Methodist Church with the Revs. Sam Collins and Bill South officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Leroy (Sally) Johnson Sr., Riley Melton (Georgia) Johnson and Robert Lee Johnson; two daughters, Lizzie Mae King and Betty Jean (Barry) Hyman; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Allen Troy, Don Norris, Chris Challender, Robert South, Henry McKuhen and Jerry McKuhen.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Louise Hadden, 108 Main St., Warrenton, GA 30828.

Florence "Bunny" Marsh
Mrs. Florence "Bunny" Marsh, 82, of Maryville, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at Blount Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Marsh was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, the Humane Society and Friends of the Animal Sanctuaries. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Marsh, and her parents, Earnest Carl and Katherine Readman Bergren.

Graveside services were Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. at Westover Memorial Park Cemetery, Augusta.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Bob Mistak; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Mistak and Brett Wesley Mistak, all of Maryville, Tenn.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gertrude and Clifford Boone, Stapleton, and Carla and Sidney Barnsley, Trion, N.C.

McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Inc., Maryville, was in charge of the arrangements.

Nina Thompson McCorquodale
Mrs. Nina Thompson McCorquodale, 92, of Stapleton died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. McCorquodale was a native and lifelong resident of Jefferson County. She was a retired teacher, having taught in Rockingham, Avera, Stapleton, Wrens and Hephzibah. She was a member of Wrens Baptist Church for 77 years. She was a member of the Agnes Martin Sunday School class. She is preceded in death by her husband, Algrea M. "Tinker" McCorquodale.

The funeral was Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Race Lariscy officiating. Burial was in Wrens Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Sallie Mae (Tony) Greco, Clarmont, Fla.; her sons, Francis M. (Mary) McCorquodale, Belvedere, S.C., and J. David (Kathie) McCorquodale, Mims, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mike Adams, Bobby Braswell, John Jones, Ray Smith, Mark Lynam and Emory Clements.

James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Hardwick W. Norris
Mr. Hardwick W. Norris, 81, of Thomson died Tuesday, Jan 3, 2006, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Norris, a native of Glascock County, had lived in Thomson for 60 years. He was the son of the late James Samuel and Sallie Williams Norris. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and retired after 41 years of service as owner and operator of Norris Upholstery. He was of the Holiness faith.

The funeral was Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Richardson officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Molene Norris; a son, Kenneth and Martha Norris, Thomson; two sisters, Edna Norris, Gibson, and Fannie Bell Johnson, Warrenton; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Curtis Funeral Home, Thomson, was in charge of the arrangements.

Kathrine Stapleton Rhodes
Mrs. Kathrine Stapleton Rhodes, 84, of Louisville died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mrs. Rhodes, a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, was the daughter of the late Arthur and Eva Perdue Stapleton. She was retired from Jefferson Shirt and was a member of Louisville United Methodist Church.

The funeral was Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. at Louisville United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ed Deen and Beau Taylor officiating. Burial was in The Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include two sons, Larry and Mary Rhodes and Don and Jerry Rhodes, Louisville; one sister, Helen Clark, Augusta; five grandchildren, Mark Rhodes, Pat Rhodes, Phillip Rhodes, Matt Rhodes and Clelia Couch; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mark Rhodes, Pat Rhodes, Phillip Rhodes, Matt Rhodes, Cecil Couch and Mitchell McGraw.

Mr. Tommie Lee Young, 72, of Midville died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mr. Young, a native of Burke County, was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, a construction worker and a retired educator.

The funeral was Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Millen. Burial was in St. John Cemetery.

(Bettye) Jackson, Midville, Leroy (Joann) Jackson, Jonesboro, Walter (Cecelia) Jackson, Decatur, Arthur Jackson, Atlanta, Seaborn Jackson, Albany, and William "Pete" (Elvira) Jackson, Midville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gunner Lee Young and Ryker Kane Young
Gunner Lee Young, age 7, and Ryker Kane Young, age 4, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006.

The funeral was Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of North Augusta with the Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Burial was at 3 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Gunner and Ryker were born in Augusta and attended TrueNorth Church. Gunner was a second grade student at Mossy Creek Elementary School. Ryker attended preschool at First Baptist Church of North Augusta.

Survivors include their mother, Karyn Grace "K.K." Young, North Augusta; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Cooper, Louisville; paternal grandmother, Barbara Young, Augusta; several aunts, uncles and cousins which include Clay and Salena Grace and their children, Haley and Hannah, Wadley; Robbie and Theresa Grace and their children, Jesse, Cassidy and Carlee, Avera; Mark and Tesie Bowles and their children, Kristin and Ward, Wadley; Sonny and Teresa Wells and their children, Reid and Emily, Summerville, SC; and Steve and Elizabeth Young and their children, Tyler and Brian, North Augusta; other special relatives include Jane Wells, Wadley, Heyward and Sue Wells, Stapleton and Rich and Bobbie Burnette, North Augusta.
