James Henry “Chick” Radcliffe Sr.
Mr. James Henry “Chick” Radcliffe Sr., 70, of Statesboro died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility.

Mr. Radcliffe, a native of Burke County, was a 1954 graduate of Waynesboro High School. He served as a civilian technician for 36 years with the GaARNG before ending his military career as property book officer overseeing all property and inventory of the National Guard Training Center at Ft. Stewart. He retired with 42 years of service to the GaARNG. He served as president of the Statesboro Jaycees as well as Region 10 president of Jaycees. He was a founding member and past president of Minutmen Investors. He was a member of Ways Baptist Church. He was a founding member and former president of the Clarence Brack “Top Five” Club, a National Guard NCO organization.

A second funeral was held at Ways Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

The funeral was Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at Statesboro First Baptist Church with Elder Randy Waters, CW4 (Ret.) Billy F. Stewart and BG (Ret.) Fred Shaver officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne Swan Radcliffe; two sons, James Henry Radcliffe Jr., Hiram, and Woodrow Swan Radcliffe, Carlisle, Penn.; one daughter, Sara Joanne Radcliffe Cook, Atlanta; his sister, Kathryn Radcliffe Hamilton, Martinez; four grandchildren; and several other relatives.

Pallbearers were Edwin Akins, Roland Bell, Gene Denmark, Rodney Harville, Jack Henry and Paul Strange.

Honorary pallbearers were members and spouses of the Clarence Brack “Top Five” Club and active and retired members of the Georgia National Guard and their spouses.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 108 North Main St., Statesboro, GA 30458; Ways Baptist Church, 314 Quaker Rd., Wrens, GA 30833; or to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.

Hodges-Moore Funeral Home, Statesboro, was in charge of the arrangements.

Jenibel Boyd
Miss Jenibel Boyd Miss Jenibel Boyd, 94, of Stapleton died Aug. 7, 2006, at University Hospital.

Miss Boyd was a member of Stapleton Baptist Church and Keenagers. She was retired from the U.S. Post Of- fice. She is preceded in death by her brother, Carl Boyd, and a sister, Nellie Boyd.

The funeral was Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. at Stapleton Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Daniel officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include two sisters, Lillian Boyd Stacy and Julia Boyd Maher; one brother, James T. Boyd; a sister-in-law, Rebie Boyd; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Pallbearers were James Stacy, Stanley Maher, Michael Boyd, Judson Boyd, Bruce Boyd and Daniel Boyd.

Honorary pallbearers were the great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Stapleton Baptist Church Building Fund, 360 Harvey St., Stapleton, GA 30823.

James “Boot” Murray
Mr. James “Boot” Murray Mr. James “Boot” Murray died Monday, July 24, 2006. Mr. Murray, a native of Jefferson County, was the son of the late John Wesley Murray and Willie Alice Jordan Murray. He retired after 31 years of service from J.M. Huber Mining Company. He is preceded in death by a wife Moiden Davis Murray.

The funeral was July 29 at 11 a.m. at Wrens Chapel AME Church with the Revs. Samuel Thompkins and David Batts officiating. Burial was in Sugar Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie H. Murray; his children, Barbara Denise Murray Flowers, Cairo, James Ray Murray, Oceanside, Calif., Iris Jean Murray Gaines, Wrens, Joseph Lee Murray, Washington, D.C., Freddie Story, Pinton Falls, N.J., and Barbara Story Williams, Alpharetta; stepchildren, Michael Williams, Cambridge, Mass., Bernice Ponder, Ellis Freeman, Lonnie Hines, all of Louisville, Gwyn L. Phillips, Calf., and Leon Davis, Milwaukee, Wisc., Barry Hines and Casandra Wynn, Wrens; siblings, Evelyn Murray Hudson, Johnnie Mae Murray, Richard Murray and Carolyn Ann Murray, all of Wrens; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Murray, Wrens; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Freeman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Frederick A. Rheney
Mr. Frederick A. Rheney Mr. Frederick A. Rheney, 83, of Smyrna died Friday, July 28, 2006.

Mr. Rheney, a native of Wadley, served his country during WWII with the 15th Air Force in Italy. He attended Georgia State University. He retired from Atlanta Public Schools, Henry Grady High School. He was a member of Smyrna First United Methodist Church and Friendship Class.

The funeral was July 31 at Smyrna First United Methodist Church with Dr. Stuart Greene and Jim Wesley offi- ciating. Burial was in Georgia Memorial Park cemetery in Marietta.

Survivors include his wife, Clyda Rheney; two daughters, Sheryl Rheney Frick, Smyrna, and Karen Rheney Barboza, Dallas; one brother, P. Austin Rheney, Wadley; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Carmichael Funeral Home, Smyrna, was in charge of the arrangements.

Willie Lee “Bobby” Watson
Mr. Willie Lee “Bobby” Watson Mr. Willie Lee “Bobby” Watson of Bartow died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006.

The funeral was Aug. 14 at Salters Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Walter Holmes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Hodges; five sons, Willie Watson and Eric Watson, Bartow, Dennis Hodges and Tommy Woods, Wadley, and Willie Woods, Twin City; four sisters, Christine Jordan, Lillie Watson and Willie M. Heggs, Bartow, and Betty G. Williams, Wadley; five brothers, Clifford Jordan, Kennasaw, Henry Watson and Luther Watson, Marietta, Tommy Watson and Bobby Green, Wadley; 14 grandchildren; and several other relatives.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Dells Sue Dixon Armstrong
Mrs. Dells Sue Dixon Armstrong of Riverview, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006.

Mrs. Armstrong, a native of Louisville, was the daughter of the late Mollie Newsome Dixon and Grey Cummings Dixon. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Armstrong.

The funeral was Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. at Stowers Brandon Chapel. Burial was in Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include two children, Carl A. Armstrong Jr., Corpus Christi, Texas, and Linda Armstrong Aronoff, Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were David Collier, Billy Anderson, Austin and Alex Roe, Logan Collier, Trevor and Trent Anderson, and Brad and Brian Thompson.

Stowers Funeral Home, Brandon, Fla., was in charge of the arrangements.

Warren Hodges Sr.
Mr. Warren Hodges Sr., 82, of Midville died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006.

Mr. Hodges was a native of Emanuel County and a member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

The funeral was Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. David Edmonds and Bennie Brinson officiating. Burial was in Greene Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jessie B. Hodges; two daughters, Mrs. Marion Mills, Cross and Green Community, and Martha Parker, McDonnough; one son, Warren Hodges Jr., Cross and Green; one brother, Samuel Hodges, Riveria Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were the Masonic Lodge Bros. of Lodge #129 and Sons of Wadley #129.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons and trustees.

Benjamin Thomas Skinner
Infant Benjamin Thomas Skinner of Gaston died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006.

Graveside services were held Dec. 8 at Celestial Memorial

Gardens with the Rev. Gene Rowell officiating.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alan Hamer Skinner. Survivors include his parents, Kevin Michael and Angel Marie Skinner, Gaston; brothers,

Noah Andrew and Elijah James Skinner, Gaston; maternal grandparents, Rev. David O. Davis Jr. and his wife Cathy L. Davis, Louisville; paternal grandmother, Carolyn D. Skinner, West Columbia, SC.

Mary Ruth Tester Trivett
Mrs. Mary Ruth Tester Trivett of Thomson died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006.

Mrs. Trivett, a native of Hampton, Tenn., lived most of her life in Thomson.

She was the daughter of the late Ronald Earle Tester and Nan Williams Tester.

She was retired from Kinglsey Mill after 38 years of service. She was also a member of Washington Heights Baptist Church and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of VFW Post #7778.

The funeral was Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. at Washington Heights Baptist Church with the Revs. Sonny Peevy and Brad Ellington officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.Survivors include her husband, Eli Trivett Jr.; daughters, Sherry Neal, Hilton Head, SC, Nancy Trivett, Thomson, and Linda Josey, Waynesboro; brother, Jack Arrington, Wrens; special friend and caregiver, Ruth Chastain; sisters, Helen Tester, Johnson City, Tenn., Pat Yates, Clemons, NC, Margaret Smith, Tampa, Fla., and Shirley Tester, Albany; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Rusty Hannah, Trey Marshall, Troy Josey, Brian Josey, Brian Jenkins,

Michael Josey, Hunter Connell, Tony Bentley, Allen Tankersley and Eddie Tankersley.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Association.

Henry “Hank” Hammond Blanchard Jr.
Mr. Henry “Hank” Hammond Blanchard Jr., 59, of Waynesboro died Saturday, June 3, 2006.

Mr. Blanchard, born in Louisville, was the son of the late Hammond and Mary Miller Blanchard. He was a member of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church. He was a UGA graduate, a member of the Waynesboro Country Club, a director of First National Bank and served in the National Guard. The funeral was June 5 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro with the Revs. Wayne Dixon and Marshall Singletary officiating. Burial was in Burke Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Stewart Blanchard; his daughters, Melinda Prescott and Denise Meeks, Waynesboro; a son, Henry Blanchard III, Marietta; a sister, Jane Blanchard Stewart, Waynesboro; a brother, Phillip Blanchard, Waynesboro; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Roy Jenkins, Joe Daniel, Clifford Lewis, Dr. Larry Jackson, Stephen Murray, Bill Mobley, Tommy Rowland and Larry Askew.

Honorary pallbearers were officers and directors of First National Bank.

Memorials may be made to the church of choice or Edmund Burke Academy Building fund.

Mr. William Travis Blizzard, 23, of Statesboro died Thursday, May 27, 2006.

The funeral was June 1 at 11 a.m. at the Statesboro First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stewart Moody officiating, assisted by Dr. Todd Deal and Jason Proxman. Burial was in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Rooker Blizzard, Statesboro; one son, William Gabriel Blizzard and one stepson, Noah Grabenstein, both of Statesboro; his mother, Judy A. Dollar, Dublin; his father and stepmother, William Ervin and Carlene Blizzard, Woodbridge, Ill.; a sister, Kasey Wilson, Lakeland, Fla.; five brothers, Matthew Armstrong, Cleveland, Mitchell and Michael and Jeremy Blizzard, all of Woodbridge, Ill., and Andrew Dollar, Dublin; his grandparents, Johnny and Clara Nell Cannady, Wadley, and Franklin and Phyllis Blizzard, Wrightsville.

Lillie Mae Fuller
Mrs. Lillie Mae Fuller, 80, died Friday, May 26, 2006, at Unity Rehabilitation Center in Miami, Fla.

Mrs. Fuller, a native of Jefferson County, was the daughter of the late Burl and Henrietta White Lewis. She was a retired custodian.

The funeral was June 1 at 4 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in New Fleming Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include her sister, Lola Pearl Allen, Louisville; her brother, Lonnie Lewis Sr., Louisville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
