Ola Lee Mack
Ms. Ola Lee Mack, 70, of Louisville died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Ms. Mack, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of the Jones Grove Baptist Church where she was a missionary and usher. She was retired as an electric line assembler from Thermo King Corporation.

The funeral was June 7 at 1 p.m. at the Jones Grove Baptist Church and cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Dudley officiating.

Survivors include her son, Tommie and April Mack, Hephzibah; an adopted daughter, Renelda S. Batts, Augusta; grandchildren, Lakysha Mack, Olivia Curry, Torey Mack and Regina Holloway; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including Jeanie Little of Louisville.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Norman Mitchell Sr.
Mr. Norman Mitchell Sr., 53, died Saturday, May 27, 2006.

Mr. Mitchell, a native of Jefferson County, was the son of the late Isaac and Annie Ruth Vining Mitchell. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Army and a correction officer at the Jefferson County Prison.

The funeral was June 2 at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at 1 p.m. with Military Honors at The Georgia Veterans Memorial cemetery in Milledgeville.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Latimore Mitchell; his children, Michael Lee Mitchell and Norman Mitchell Jr., Atlanta, Chantrell Mitchell, Dwayne Mitchell, Christopher Mitchell and Curtis Mitchell, Louisville; his siblings, Dessie Scott, Ella M. Tomlin, Robert Mitchell, Donald Mitchell, Kimothy Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, Shirley A. Evans, Annette Barnes, Eunice R. Mitchell, Alna J. Moore, Richard Mitchell, and Eddie Mitchell; his father-in-law, Leroy Latimore; five grandchildren; and several other relatives.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Anne Smith DeLoach
Mrs. Anne Smith DeLoach, 61, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.

Memorial services will be held April 22 at 4:30 p.m. at Hospice of Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Dr., Savannah.

Survivors include her husband, William P. DeLoach; her brothers, Joseph R. and Cathy Smith, Hartsville, S.C., and Tommy and Kim Frost, Wadley; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31390, or to the Humane Society, 7215 Sallie Mood Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.

Johnny L. "Bud" Gilmore Jr.
Deacon Johnny L. "Bud" Gilmore Jr. of Bartow died Monday, April 3, 2006.

The funeral was April 10 at 2 p.m. at Salters Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. K.C. Davis and Walter Holmes officiating. Burial was in the Old Bethel Baptist Church cemetery in Bartow.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie Lee Gilmore; one son, Randy Bernard Gilmore, Wadley; three daughters, LaTress Tatosha Gilmore and Shemeka Shunte Gilmore, Bartow, and Machia Jena Heggs, Louisville; his mother, Mamie Kate Gilmore, Bartow; six sisters, Ethel Gilmore, Augusta, Annie Clyde Gilmore and Dianne Gilmore, Louisville, Katie Mae Kitchens, Wadley and Elizabeth Lowery and Patricia Ann Gilmore, Bartow; five brothers, Rev. Lesley Gilmore and Clarence Gilmore Sr., Syracuse, N.Y., Dea. Paul Gilmore Sr., Wadley, Ellis Gilmore, Wrightsville and Darryl Gilmore, Augusta; three grandchildren and several other relatives.

Pallbearers were Brian Keith Gilmore, Shauntsey Kitchens, Clarence Gilmore Jr., Courtney Huntley and Jamal Braswell.

Howard "Skinny" Green
Mr. Howard "Skinny" Green, 57, of Bartow died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Washington County Hospital.

Mr. Green was a native of Johnson County and lived in Jefferson County all of his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Jefferson County and a member of Tarver Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a truck driver with C.T. Harris for 21 years and Howard Shepard for 6 years.

The funeral will be April 15 at 2 p.m. at Tarver Grove Baptist Church and Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy Gamble Green; his children, Lorenzo (Tabitha) Green, Sandersville, Amonica Green and Antonio Green, Bartow; six grandchildren; two aunts; two godchildren; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Joann Jackson Bass Hall
Mrs. Joann Jackson Bass Hall of Bartow died Sunday, April 2, 2006.

The funeral was April 8 at 2 p.m. at Tarvers Grove Baptist Church with Pastor J.C. Green officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey Hall; three sons, Covey Bass, Wadley, Christopher Bass, Columbia, S.C., and Stacy Bass, Bartow; two sisters, Martha Howard, Bartow, and Ethel Anderson, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; nine grandchildren and several other relatives.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Sue Williams Hartley
Mrs. Mary Sue Williams Hartley, 88, of Macon died Sunday, April 9, 2006.

Mrs. Hartley, a native of Jefferson County, was the daughter of the late Bunyan Walker Williams and Bessie Mae Rhodes Williams. She was a retired registered nurse from the Macon-Bibb County Health Department. She was a member of the Ingleside United Methodist Church where she attended the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army Nurses Corp. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Lamar Hartley.

The funeral was April 12 at 11 a.m. at Ingleside United Methodist Church. Burial was at 3 p.m. in the Zeta cemetery in Tennille with the Rev. Richard Lanning officiating.

Survivors include her children, Anita Hartley, Musella, and Glynn Hartley, Warner Robins; brothers, Lamar Williams, Roger Williams and Lucius Williams, all of Louisville; her sister, Sarah Gibson, Louisville; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Ingleside United Methodist Church, 3187 Ridge Ave., Macon, GA 31204.

Evelyn L. Usry
Mrs. Evelyn L. Usry, 85, of Wadley died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mrs. Usry, a native and lifelong resident of Jefferson County, was retired from Thermo King, a homemaker and a member of Moxley United Methodist Church.

The funeral was April 8 at 3 p.m. at Moxley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Lovejoy officiating. Burial was in the Moxley Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan (Kay) Heilig, Lawrenceville; and a sister, Helen K. Moxley, Moxley.

Pallbearers were Winder Smith, Charles Smith, Larry McGraw Jr., Don Hodges, Roy Gaston, Donny Sloan, Sid Smith and Joe Cox.

Memorials may be made to the Moxley cemetery Fund, 1183 Pete Smith Road, Wadley, GA 30477.

Leola Gibbons
M i s s Leola Gibbons died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Sadie G. Mays Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta.

Miss Gibbons, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church, Morning Star Society, Zion Wheel Society and the Fair and Honest Society. The funeral was Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. at Hardeman Spring- field Baptist Church with the Rev. Abraham Gibbons officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her nephew and his wife, Carswell and Lizzie Gibbons, Atlanta; and several great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers were trustees of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons.

Lillie Morris Graham
Mrs. Lillie Morris Graham died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006.

Mrs . Graham, a native of Jefferson County, had lived in New York for several years. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Queens, N.Y., where she served on the usher board. She was a 1955 graduate of Jefferson County High School.

The funeral was Aug. 19 at noon at Gordon Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. King Mack officiating and the Rev. Walter Holmes Sr. assisting. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her sisters, Frances Dukes, Evans, Betty Morris, Valdosta, Releixia Hightower, Jacksonville, Fla., Gloria McKnight, Gary, Ind., and Carrie Lowery, Atlanta; brothers, Ike Morris Jr., Philadelphia, Penn., and Terry Morris, Jacksonville, Fla.; aunts, Gladys Morris, Ella Mae Lowery and Minnie M. Lowery, Louisville; and several other relatives.

Pallbearers were nephews and cousins.

Pauline Walden Kitchens
Mrs. Pauline Walden Kitchens, 85, of Mitchell died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Kitchens, a native of Johnson County, was a member of Mitchell Gospel Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt W. Kitchens; and a son, Charles S. Ellis.

The funeral was Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. at Mitchell Full Gospel cemetery with the Rev. Jacky Downs officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Patricia L. Daniel, Mitchell; two sons, David A. Ellis, Butler, and Thomas Bales, Washington; one brother, Mr. Ralph Walden, Evans; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tony Frost, Randy Alamia, James Griswell, Ralph Kitchens, James Kitchens and Lewis Blackburn. Shepard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Clifford Kelly
Clifford Kelly died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006.

M r . Kelly, a native of Blythe, was the son of the late Nellie Kelly and the late John Wesley Garrer. He received his education in the Burke County school system. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church where he served on the deacon board. He was the owner and operator of Kelly’s Nite Limit in Lawtey for over 50 years. He was also a concrete concentrator and owner of Kelly’s Master Construction Company.

The funeral was Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Lawtey, Fla., with the Rev. Jonathan Mosley officiating. Burial was in the Peetsville Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include four children, Emma Louise Strong, Lawtey, Clifford Kelly Jr., Las Vegas, Nev., Mary Lou Frazier, Atlanta, and Bobby Kelly, Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Harridelle Bright, Lawety, Eva Jean (Isam) Evans, Louisville, and Donna Jean Miller, Cleveland, Oh.; brothers, Willie Lee Kelly, Blythe, Raymond (Donnie) Garrer, Louisville; motherin- law, Mildred Brown, St. Augustine, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives. Betty Geneva Kitchens Silas
Mrs. Betty Geneva Kitchens Silas, 69, of Augusta died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at Doctors Hospital.

Mrs. Silas, a native of Gibson, was the daughter of the late Willie Pierce Kitchens and Bertha Mae Thigpen Kitchens, and had lived in Augusta since 1966. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy A. Silas; two brothers, Pete and Ralph Kitchens; and a sister, Margarite Malone.

Graveside services were Aug. 21 at 11:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Joey Vinson and Wally Hoyle officiating.

Survivors include three sons, David Silas, Augusta, Allen Silas, Evans, and Robert Silas, Augusta; three daughters, Glenda Silas, North Augusta, S.C., Pattie S. Strength, and Brenda S. Roberson, all of Augusta; two brothers, Bob Kitchens and Glenn Kitchens, Hephzibah; three sisters, Helen Yarborough and Eva Silas, both of Augusta, and Jeannette Lively, Lincolnton; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Chandler Silas, Jarrod Pennington, Jeff Pennington, Dean Disher, Ryan Anderson, Jim Helmly and Michael McNair.
