Mr. Robert Lee Dixon, 46, of Stone Mountain died Thursday, March 30, 2006, in an Atlanta hospital.

Mr. Dixon was a member of Nealer AME Church. He attended Washington County High.

The funeral was April 2 at the Nealer AME Church and cemetery in Davisboro.

Survivors include his parents, Laura Mae Dixon, Sandersville, and Albert Webb, Sandersville; his sisters, Rita Fay Dixon, Atlanta, Annie (Ricky) Fort, Bernice (Thomas) Brown, Davisboro, Carolyn (David) Stephens, Sharon (Bruce) Heggs, Linda Wicker, Tammy (Kelvin) Brown, Janice Jordan, Michelle (Nigel) Brown, Brenda (Allen) Coleman, Sandersville, Marilyn Thomas, Tennille, Patricia Coleman, U.S. Navy; his brothers, Glen Brown, Tennille, David Brown, Wrightsville, Willie (Joann) Webb, Sandersville, Thomas (Shauna) Webb, N.J., Ronnie Grant, Milledgeville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Carrie B. Flounory
Mrs. Carrie B. Flounory died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at a Hollywood Hills, Fla., nursing home.

Mrs. Flounory, a native of Jefferson County, was the daughter of Frank and Carrie Lillian Anthony Fleming. She attended county schools in Jefferson County. She joined the New Fleming Baptist Church in Bartow at an early age. After moving to Florida she was a member of Holy Tabernacle United Church of God in Ft. Lauderdale.

Survivors include her two daughters, Jannie L. Goldsmith, Cleveland, Ohio, and Annie B. (Anthony) Hall, Hollywood, Fla.; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Horace Richard Garrett Jr.
Mr. Horace Richard Garrett Jr., 70, of Wadley died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Garrett, a native of Emanuel County and formerly of Macon, had lived in Jefferson County since 1978. He was a member of Wadley Baptist Church where he was a member of the Faith Sunday School class and also served as a teacher. He was an insurance agent.

The funeral was March 24 at 11 a.m. at the Wadley Baptist Church with Dr. Ernest Purcell and the Rev. Tom Harrison officiating. Burial was in Lambs Chapel Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Violet Garrett; three sons, Richard Paul Garrett, Cocoa, Fla., Lester Ray (Cindy) Bryant Jr., Wadley, and Randy James (Ellen) Garrett, Macon; her mother, Mary Elizabeth Lamb Garrett, Louisville; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Garrett Cobb, Louisville; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Hinson, Robert Earl King, Jim Curry, Michael Oglesby, Stanley Upton, Tim Garrett, Travis Garrett and Billy Arrington.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Wadley Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Wadley Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Janice Smith.

Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Sarah Marion Posey
Mrs. Sarah Marion Posey, 87, of Waynesboro died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mrs. Posey was a native of Jefferson County. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Posey. She was on the building committee for Rosemont Baptist Church, and was the Church Historian from August 1962 thru December 1983.

The funeral was Tuesday, April 4 at 3 p.m. at Rosemont Baptist Church, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Mike Andrew and Rev. Keith Alderman officiating. Internment followed at Burke Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include two sons, Robert (Bobby) Edward Posey (Mary Gene) of Sardis; James (Jimmy) Franklin Posey (Sandra) of Waynesboro; one Daughter Betty Jean Hartley. Mrs. Posey is survived by 11 Grandchildren, Raydene Posey (Mother); Angie Reeves (Reese), Rhonda Broxton, Robbie Posey (Windy), Cammey Jenkins (Chad), Ricky Posey (Jennifer), Michael Posey (Jill), Jay Posey (Chrissy), Chad Posey, Maxine McCleese (Tim), Joe Billy Wood, Jr. (Teresa), Alice Randall; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bud Carter, Eddie Carter, Edwin Stephens, Billy Carter, Robert Hickman, Jerry Richardson and Kenneth English. Honorary Pallbearers were Wallace Sapp, Otis Bailey, Broadus Carter, Edward Thomas, Ed Glisson, Otis Screws and Preston Lewis, Jr. DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert O. Usry
Mr. Robert O. Usry of Birmingham, Ala., died Wednesday, March 29, 2006.

Mr. Usry, a native of Wadley, was raised in Augusta. He was a graduate of Richmond Academy. He worked as a co-op student while he attended Georgia Tech, graduating in 1950 with highest honors. He was a member of the Georgia Tech's Engineering College Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the National Honor Societies of Tau Beta pi, ETA Kappa Nu and Phi Kappa Phi and was employed for 46 years by the companies of Southern Company. He was senior vice president of Southern Company Services in charge of Power System Operations and Planning. He was a member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church.

Graveside services were April 1 at Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery in Augusta with Dr. Ron Sumners officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Usry; daughter, Debra and Robert L. Turner, Atlanta; and two grandsons, Matt Turner and Michael Turner, Atlanta.

Memorials may be made to Meadow Brook Baptist Church, 4984 Meadow Brook Road, Birmingham, AL 35242.

Charlie Loyd
Mr. Charlie Loyd of Louisville died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at an Augusta hospital.

Mr. Loyd, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Jones Grove Baptist Church. He was a 1970 graduate of Louisville High School and was self employed construction worker after working with Raines Brother Construction until their closing. He was also employed by Pansy's.

The funeral was April 1 at 2 p.m. at Jones Grove Baptist Church and cemetery with the Revs. Jerry Dudley, Charles Holloway and Charles Washington officiating.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Fleming Loyd, Louisville; his siblings, William (Vivian) Loyd, Raleigh, N.C., Gladys (Rick) Graham, Dania, Fla., Mary Nell Mosley and Gloria Loyd, Louisville; a special friend, Felicia Evans, Louisville; and several other relatives.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Charlie Mitchell McCall Sr.
Mr. Charlie Mitchell McCall Sr. of Louisville died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mr. McCall was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, a member of New Hope A.M.E. Church. He received his education in the Jefferson County school system.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 28 at 1 p.m. at New Hope A.M.E. Church in Louisville with Rev. Delmus Mosley officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Mozell McCall of Louisville; sons John William McCall II, Charlie (Diane) McCall Jr., Thomas (Kimberly) McCall, Samuel (Shirley) McCall, Frank (Shirley A.) McCall, Elijah (Leila) McCall and Melvin McCall all of Louisville; daughters Shirley (Cecil) Ware of Atlanta and Flora McCall of Louisville; a grandson Quincey Terrell of Louisville; one sister-in-law; goddaughters, Tory Alane of Atlanta and Crystal Flourney of Louisville; two aunts; 21 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers were sons.

Honorary pallbearers were Stewards and Trustees of New Hope A.M.E. Church.

Garrer Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of the arrangements.

Lottie Myles
Mrs. Lottie Myles of Hephzibah died Friday, March 31, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta.

Mrs. Myles, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Doyle Grove Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Survivors include her children, Ms. Emma J. Myles, Far Rockaway, N.Y., Robert L. Myles, Valley Stream, Long Island, Mrs. Melane L. Threat, Hephzibah, Ga., Mr. Ray F. Myles, Brooklyn, N.Y.; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Historic Dent's Undertaking Establishment is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Jones
Mr. Kenneth Jones of Wadley died Thursday, March 30, 2006.

The funeral was April 5 at 2 p.m. at Jones Chapel CME Church in Bartow with the Rev. Perry Davis officiating. Burial was in Blounts Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Jones; a daughter, Debbie McGee, Wadley; a son, Tyrone Danford, Wadley; two sisters, Juanita Hickson, Wadley, and Helen Adams, Willingboro, N.J.; three brothers, Ransom Smith, Brooklyn, N.Y., Willie L. Jones and David Jones, Bartow; four grandchildren; and several other relatives.

Pallbearers were Willie Gamble, Johnny Danford, Greg Hickson, Willie Hickson and Darrell Hickson.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Wallace Sikes
Mr. Wallace Sikes, 69, of Stapleton died Monday, March 27, 2006, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Sikes was the son of the late Quillian Sikes and Jennie Mae Sweall Sikes. He was retired from Semino Mills as a textile worker. He is preceded in death by a son, James Wallace Sikes.

The funeral was March 30 at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Phillips Napier and Clifton Stancll officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Huff; five sons, Ricky Sikes, Trenton, S.C., Joey Sikes, Graniteville, S.C., Ronnie Sikes, Warrenville, S.C., Randy Sikes, Gloverville, S.C., and Terry Sikes, Clearwater, S.C.; five step-children, Sarah Snipes, Geraldine Snipes, Terry Stewart, Hephzibah, Lonnie Stewart, Wrens, and Lynwood Stewart, Augusta; three brothers, Carl Sikes, James Sikes and Penural "Goodboy" Sikes, Cobbtown; three sisters, Janie Sizemore, Langley, S.C., Vera Sikes and Carolyn Collins, Metter; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lonnie Quick, Dale Mobley, Bill Perry, Ben Snipes, Rodney Snipes and George Snipes.

James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Easter Bell Gibson
Ms. Easter Bell Gibson of Mitchell died Saturday, March 25, 2006.

The funeral was April 1 at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Warren County with the Rev. John A. Lockhart officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley A. Gibson, Mitchell; two sons, Jason A. Gibson, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Derrick (Anastasia) C. Gibson, Tallahassee, Fla.; six sisters, Linda Gibson, Brenda McGee, Jeanette Gibson, Runetta Gibson, all of Mayfield, Lillie Gibson, Mitchell, and Carolyn Wiley, Columbus; three brothers, Jimmie (Louvenia) Gibson, Mitchell, Troy (Kathy) Mills, Warner Robins, and Robert Lee Hall, Warrenton.

Dawson's Mortuary, Warrenton, was in charge of the arrangements.

Fred Jordan Brown
Mr. Fred Jordan Brown, 84, of Wadley died Thursday, July 6, 2006.

Mr. Brown was born in Milledgeville to the late Mr. Mortie Patrick Brown and Anna Elizabeth Stevens. He worked as a truck driver for Concrete Supply Company out of Fayetteville.

The funeral was July 9 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Burial was in the Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Sammy Jordan Brown, Midville; four daughters, Martha Smith, Augusta, Gail Bishop, Wadley, Harriett Powell, Dublin, and Susan Burke, Swainsboro; two sisters, Faye Fennell, Wadley, and Anna Maud Arrington, Augusta; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tracy Tapley, Eric Burke, Lee Burke, Alan Burke, Gary Smith and Stephen Smith.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Asa “Buddy” Farrer Jr.
Mr. Asa “Buddy” Farrer Jr., 75, of Matthews died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Farrer, born in Lyons, was the son of the late Asa Farrer Sr. and Nellie Gay Farrer. He lived most of his live in the Matthews and Waynesboro area. He was a mechanic. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Joe Farrer and sisters Tressey Hardy and Mary Chance.

The funeral was July 10 at 3 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jamie Archer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Lexie Jean Farrer; a daughter, Debra Flake, Girard; sons, David and Nancy Farrer, Sardis, Donnie Farrer, Augusta, Dwayne and Diane Farrer, Sylvania, and Percy and Lonie Bourgoin, Thomson; step-children, Robbie and Patricia Hutchinson, Jacksonville, Fla., Jackie and Kenny Ellis, Stateboro, and Richard and Julie Youmans, Millen; sisters, Doris Williford and Betty Ann Kemp, Wrens; brother, Jimmy Farrer, Graniteville, S.C.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dennis Farrer, Dale Farrer, Mike Farrer, Paul Price, Jim Gainey, Harold Price, Bob McNair and Christopher Farrer.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe Bourgoin, James Williams, Wright Landrum, Joe Jenkins, Bubba Williams, Bobby Oglesby, David Reese and Jasper Godbee.

DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, Waynesboro, was in charge of the arrangements.
