Robert Lee McGee
Mr. Robert Lee McGee, 74 of Amity Woodlawn Rd. died Friday, August 25, 2006 at his residence.
A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29 at Greenwood Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. McGee, a native of Hannibal, Mo. had lived in Lincolnton most of his life. He was retired from the Operating Engineers Union and had served in the U.S. Air Force. He was also a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, James A. McGee of Lincolnton; two sisters, Loretta M. Nelson of Walton, Ky. and Pat M. Hardaway of Evans, Ga.; a cherished friend, Dillis Wright; five nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Margaret Rogers of Athens, Ga.

Mary D. Beard Wright
Mary Delores Beard Wright, 50, beloved wife of Mr. Anthony Wright of Augusta, Georgia, entered into rest on Monday, August 7, 2006 at Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 12 at Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Walter Clayton officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Affectionately known as Lois, she was a native of Lincoln County and was employed at Castleberry in Augusta. Survivors include her husband, Anthony; Maurice (Tracey) Beard of Martinez, Ga.; a step-daughter, Frankie G. Wright of Augusta; her mother, Doris B. Blackwell of Lincolnton; her father, Robert Sim Freeman of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Marty (Cassandra) Beard of Lincolnton and John Beard of Augusta; six sisters, Annie F. Freeman of Atlanta, Beverly Harris of Chicago, Il., Ann (Joe) Davis, Glenda Blackwell, and Gloria Blackwell, all of Augusta, and Len Blackwell of Newport News, Va.; two granddaughters, Maiya Beard and Morgan Beard of Martinez, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mary C. Hiers
Mrs. Mary Cox Hiers, 78, of Partridgetown Road, entered into rest Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospice in Augusta, Georgia.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Joyner and Lee Partridge officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hiers was a native of Gadsden, Alabama and had lived at Lake Seminole for many years before moving to Lincoln County six years ago. She was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Hiers, Jr. and her son, Charles A. Hiers, III.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert L. Partridge of Lincolnton; three sisters, Barbara C. Divers of Pansy, Ala., Norma Kay McElroy of Rainbow City, Ala., and Elmarie Dunn of Southside, Ala.; three grandchildren, Robert Lee Partridge, Lisa P. Johns, and Charles A. Hiers, IV; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Hugh Tucker, III, Thomas Tucker, Larry Harrell, Roger Partridge, John Locklear and Dallas McLeroy.

William Terry King
Mr. William Terry King, 54, of Comanche Circle, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in North Carolina.
Mr. King, a native of Hendersonville, N.C., was a carpenter and had served in the U.S. Marines.
Survivors include his wife, Adria Celeste King; a son, Mason Tyler King; a daughter, Stephanie Wooten of Greenville, N.C.; his parents, Bill and Pauline King of Hendersonville, N.C.; two brothers, Wayne and Allen King of North Carolina; and a sister, Rita Jackson of North Carolina.

Mary Elizabeth Chavous Wells
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Chavous Wells, 81, of Moss Street, entered into rest on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Butts officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wells, a native of Augusta, had lived in Lincolnton since the late 1960's. She was a retired post exchange clerk at Ft. Gordon, a member of New Hope Baptist Church and Homer Legg Chapter #535 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian C. (Bo) Wells.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith Pugh of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, George Chavous of Arlington, Texas and Billy Chavous of Manchester, New Hampshire; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Homer Legg Chapter #535 Order of Eastern Star will serve as honorary pallbearers.

SGM William H. Wood
SGM. William H. Wood, U.S. Army retired of Augusta Hwy., entered into rest on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at his residence. He was 76.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 8 at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta, Georgia with full military honors.
Mr. Wood was a native of Cincinnati but had lived in Lincoln County since 1979. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, and later retired as a Sergeant Major after 28 years of service. He was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hart Wood; one son, John Hopkins of North Augusta, S.C.; two daughters, Sheryl Redman of Augusta and Teresa Bentley of Lincolnton; three sisters, Diane Bleh, Bonnie Wood and Beverly Morath, all of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Lee and Nicholas Redman, Ashley Barton, and Lacey and Tyler Bryant; and four great-grandchildren.

Joan Merrill Ishee
Mrs. Joan Merrill Ishee, 69, of Joy Drive, entered into rest on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at University Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Joyner officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Ishee was the daughter of the late Ruth Precilla Parker Merrill and the late Hugh Merrill, Sr. She was a former employee of the Medical College of Georgia where she kept medical records. She was a member and past matron of the Homer Legg Chapter 535 Order of the Eastern Star, New Hope Baptist Church, Women Missionary Union, and a former church pianist and choir member. Survivors include her beloved husband of 52 years, Cecil L. Ishee, Jr.; a daughter, Pamela I. Oliphant and husband, Jeffrey of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, Daniel L. Ishee and wife, Sandra of Augusta, Ga. and Tracy A. Ishee of Thomson, Ga.; a sister, Peggy A. Carr of Wetumpka, Ala.; a brother, Hugh Merrill, Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; four grandchildren, Nikki Densmore, Luke Ishee, Rebecca Gail Ishee and Merrill Claire Oliphant; and two great-grandchildren, Austin Densmore and Abby Gail Densmore.
Pallbearers were deacons and the men of New Hope Baptist Church.

Edd Stark Bradford Jr.
Mr. Edd Stark Bradford, Jr., 78, of Evans, Ga., entered into rest on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3 at Platt's Funeral Home Chapel in Evans.
Mr. Bradford, a native of Danburg, Ga., was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Bradford and a daughter, Connie Brown.
Survivors include three sons, Benjamin Bradford of West Virginia, Tracy Bradford and wife, Kathy of Suwanee, Ga., and Edd Stark "Eddie" Bradford, III and wife, Lynn of Milledgeville, Ga.; one daughter, Frances Romine and husband, Dayn of Evans; one brother, Jessie Lee Bradford of Plum Branch, S.C.; two sisters, Gwen Hopkins and husband, David of Augusta and Mary Lois Culbertson of Lincolnton; twelve grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren.

Bobby James Hood
Bobby James (Bob) Hood, 75, entered into rest on Friday, September 29, 2006 at his residence.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 1 in the chapel at Wood Mortuary.
Born on July 15, 1931, to the late Mr. and Mrs. William C. Hood, he graduated from WLT High School in 1950. He served and retired from the military and was a retired employee of Exide Battery Corporation. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rites and a lifetime member of the Bailey Lodge. He was also a lifetime member of Mid City Shrine and a member of the Hejaz Temple.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley F. Hood, a son James Mitchell Hood, and a brother Herbert Eugene Hood. Survivors include his wife, Malinda B. Hood of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Julie F. and David Lazar of Wellford, Carol H. Seyller and Melanie J. and Bobby Goode all of Greer; one step-daughter, Tammy Rhodes of Boiling Springs; two step-sons Michael Rhodes and his wife, Cindy of Greenville and Douglas Rhodes of Lyman; and a sister and brother-inlaw Patricia and Johnny Crain of Lincolnton. He was a loving grandfather to ten grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, at Hephzibah Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Allen Danner officiating.
Mrs. Bryant was native of Greer, S.C. and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Bryant Armour and a son, George William Bryant, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, George William "Billy" Bryant, Sr.; one sister, Rosa Lee Wideman of
McCormick, S.C.; one grandson, John Armour of Lexington, Ga.; one great-grandson, Mason Armour of Lexington, Ga.; and one son-in-law, Lyn Armour and wife Deborah of Rayle, Ga.
Pallbearers were Lyn Armour, Kevin Bentley, Lanny Bryant, Patrick Bryant, Scott Bryant and Randy Ingram.

Barrett Meldeau Edmunds
Mr. Barrett Meldeau Edmunds, 79, of Harlem, Ga., entered into rest on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at his residence.
A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 15 at Harlem United Methodist Church with Revs. Roger Stone, Rudolph Dixon and Roger Vest officiating.
Mr. Edmunds, a lifelong resident of Columbia County, was the son of the late James M. and Lillian Prather Edmunds Reed. He was a retired Captain of the Ft. Gordon Fire Dept. and had also served as a Columbia County sheriff's deputy. He was a former Harlem City Councilman, a charter member of the Harlem Lion's Club, Harlem Masonic Lodge, and the Harlem United Methodist Church in which he had held various offices. He was also a longtime member of the Carolina Jazz Society.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Baggett Edmunds; two sons, Donald J. Edmunds and partner, John Adams of Augusta, and Trent D. Edmunds, of Grovetown; daughters, Angela E. Johnson and husband, Jay of Harlem, and Karen E. Simpson and husband, Scot of Grovetown; a brother, Charles Edmunds of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Virginia E. Neal and Ella E. Dozier, both of Harlem; grandchildren, Marquette Bysor, April Reid, Steven Reid, Micheal, Scott and J.R. Johnson, Robby and Heather Cummings, Scot Simpson, Mary and Daniel Edmunds, Whitney Rainchuso and Kaitlyn Logerwell; and nine great-grandchildren.

Rev. Noland Arrowood
Rev. Noland Arrowood, 65, of Chamberlain Ferry Road, entered into rest on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, at Faith Temple of Lincolnton with Revs. Addison Belangia and Jack Crane officiating. Burial followed in Martin's Crossroads Church Cemetery.
Rev. Arrowood was a native of Rutherford County, N.C. and was the son of the late Merrill Wilson Arrowood and the late Katie Lee Blankenship Arrowood. He had lived in Cedartown, Ga. prior to moving to Lincolnton 23 years ago. Rev. Arrowood was former pastor of Lula Congregational Holiness of Lula, Ga., Cedartown Congregational Holiness, Faith Tabernacle of Cedartown and Faith Temple of Lincolnton. He was also owner and operator of Arrowood Equipment. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Linda E. Arrowood; two sons Byron Arrowood and wife, Trina of Lincolnton and Brett Arrowood and wife, Kathy of Harlem, Ga.; one daughter, Tonya A. Burt and husband, Mark of Lincolnton; four brothers, Rev. Roland Arrowood of Colbert, Ga., Donald Arrowood, Alton Arrowood and Merrill Arrowood of Rutherfordton, N.C.; two sisters, Faye Pritchard and Nora Pritchard, also of Rutherfordton, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, Taylor Arrowood, Whitley Arrowood, Trey Burt, Alec Burt, Abigail Burt, Evan Burt and Katy Arrowood.
