Joel Robert "Joe" Cooper, Sr.
Mr. Joel Robert "Joe" Cooper, Sr., husband of Orena Talbert Cooper, of Bethany Church Road, entered into rest Thursday, June 8, 2006 at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 11 at Bethany United Methodist Church with Revs. Elton Lawson and T.G. Hall officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Copper, a native of Black Mountain, N.C., was the son of Joel R. and Lena Burgess Cooper. He owned and operated Cooper's Paint & Body for 54 years and served in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he had served as Sunday School Teacher, song leader, and president of the Men's Club.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joel R. "Trey" Copper III, and his brother, Charles M. Cooper.
Survivors include his wife, Orena Talbert Cooper; two sons, Joel R. "Bob" Cooper and wife, Linda and Larry Dean Copper and wife, Gail, all of Lincolnton; one brother, John Cooper of San Jose, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Josh Cooper, Hal Radford, Thomas Gartrell, Travis Reed, Chris Cooper, and Norman Talbert. Honorary pallbearers were members of Bethany United Methodist Church Men's Club and Marvin Banks, Joe Sapp, and Bruce Rowland.

Hilda N. Walker
Mrs. Hilda Norman Walker, 89, entered into rest Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8 at Midway United Methodist Church with Revs. Jim Leonard and Elton Lawson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Walker was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Nobie Scott Norman. She was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of the Midway Community and a faithful member of Midway United Methodist Church and the Mattie Stewart Missionary Circle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlin F. Walker.
Survivors include a son, Nelson N. Walker of Roswell, Ga.; two daughters, Charlotte W. Poss and husband, Thomas, of Lincolnton and Linda W. Anthony and husband, Gene of Washington, Ga.; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren
Pallbearers were Allen Fort, Kent Callahan, Bob Norman, Matthew Poss, Cliff Echols, and Christopher Guin.

Robert Alfred White, Sr.
Mr. Robert Alfred White, Sr., 63, formerly of Athens, entered into rest Thursday, June 8, 2006 at House of Life Personal Care Home, Augusta.
Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Sun. June 11 at Greenwood Baptist Church cemetery in Lincoln County with Rev. Seaborn Dell officiating.
Mr. White, a native of Monmouth, Ill., had lived in the area for the past 25 years. He was a longtime cattle farmer and a Georgia Bulldog fan.
Survivors include two sons, Robert A. White, Jr., and wife, Gay and
Randy White, all of Lincolnton; one daughter, Marsha Sandoval and husband, Rick of Abingdon, Ill.; three sisters, Linda Morefield of Monmouth, Il., Lori Legeeter of Aledo, Ill., and Mary Kay Peters of Gilson, Ill.; three brothers, Phil White of Clarkesville, Tom White of Virginia Beach and Andy White of Nashville, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.

Bert Lewis Aycock
Mr. Bert Lewis Aycock, 88, of Double Branches Road, entered into rest at Lake Crossing Health Care on May 11, 2006.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Revs. T.G. Hall and Elton Lawson officiating.
Born in Wilkes County, he was the son of the late Louis Jackson and Lucille Burgess Aycock. He served our country during World War II in Company G 323rd Infantry and was a Purple Heart recipient. He retired as foreman of Talmadge B. Reed Logging and was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent from 1964 until 1990.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Jackson Aycock. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Virginia Saggus Aycock; one son, Jimmy Bert Aycock and wife, Frances; two grandsons, Steed Aycock and J.L. Aycock, all of Lincolnton; one granddaughter, Carey Anne Aycock Cushman of Thomson, Ga.; one sister, Agnes Aycock Witt of Greenwood, S.C.; and several nephews and one niece.

Freda L. Bowles
Mrs. Freda L. Bowles, 72, wife of J.D. Bowles of Clay Hill Road entered into rest on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at MCG in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 19 at New Work Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Swann officiating.
Mrs. Bowles, a homemaker, was a native of Tazwell, Va. but had lived in Leesville, S.C. before moving to Lincolnton about eight years ago. She was a member of New Work Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the choir and W.O.M.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Smith and a grandchild, Christopher Bowles.
Survivors include her husband, James D. "J.D." Bowles; two sons, J. Michael Bowles of Walterboro, S.C. and Robert W. Bowles of Lexington, S.C.; one daughter, Jo Ann Hamilton of Lexington, Va.; a sister, Edna Cochran, N. Taxwell of Virginia; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Minnie Harper Wade
Mrs. Minnie Harper Wade, 94, of McCormick Highway, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 17 at Snow's Memorial Chapel in Macon, Ga. with Revs. Lanis Lewis and Terry Bonds officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen cemetery in Macon.
Mrs. Wade, a homemaker, was a native of Crawford County but had lived in Macon most of her life. She moved to her son's residence in Lincolnton about three years ago. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Wade and daughters, Betty Joyce Wade, Dorothy Staples, and Lorene Casey, and grandsons, Randy and Steve Edwards.
Survivors include a son, Lamar Wade and wife, Bonnie of Lincolnton; two daughters, Elizabeth Piland of Columbus and Margaret Edwards of Jakin, Ga. one brother, E.C. Harper of Vienna; and twelve grandchildren, Kathy Johnson, Scott Edwards, Danny Edwards, Troy Edwards, Gary Edwards, Ryan Edwar, Lisa Bennett, Belinda Ingle, Christopher Bray, Kevin Wade, Todd Wade, and Alicia Wade

Callie McKuhen Beauford
Mrs. Callie McKuhen Beauford, 92, entered into rest on Friday, February 24, 2006 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson, Georgia.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 27 at Central Baptist Church. Internment followed in Gravel Hill Cemetery.
Born in Emanuel County, she resided in Central Junction for 47 years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and retired from Union Camp Paper Corporation after 36 years of service. Granny B acted as a loving mama to many and touched countless lives.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ellie S. Fields and Henry George Beauford; a son, Daniel Beauford; and two daughters, Joyce Fanny and Peggie Barnett.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and John Moss of Rincon, Ga., Betty and Thomas Kea of Lincolnton and Gail and John Buttersworth of Pooler; a daughter in-law, Karen Beauford of Guyton; a son-in-law, A.J. Fanny of Guyton; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Ellen Bentley
Mrs. Mary Ellen Bentley, 58, wife of Gary Bentley of McCormick, S.C., entered into rest February 21, 2006 at her residence.
A memorial service was held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 23 from the graveside at Wideman Family cemetery with Revs. Charles Hopkins, Ryan Eklund, and Wade Everettt officiating.
Mrs. Bentley, daughter of the late Bennie C. and Ellen Bosdell Wideman, was a lifelong resident of McCormick. She was retired from the McCormick School District after 32 years of service and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Bentley; a son, Joshua Ross Bentley of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Reba Bentley Swann and Chris, of McCormick; a granddaughter, Amber Nicole Swann; a sister, Betty Ann Ellenberg of McCormick; and Mrs. Bentley’s faithful companion, Jay.

Marie Elma Latham
Mrs. Marie Elma Latham, 84, entered into rest on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at the home of her daughter in Lincolnton, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22 at Cochran Field Church of God in Macon, Ga. with Revs. Gerry Golden, Terry Bonds and Lanis Lewis officiating. Interment followed in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Latham was born in Laurens County, Georgia and had lived in Macon most of her life. She retired from Keebler Biscuit Company and attended Cochran Field Church of God. She lived with her daughter in Lincolnton for the past two months.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (Bonnie) Wade and husband, Lamar, of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Kevin (Delane) Wade, Todd Wade, and Alicia Wade, all of Lincolnton; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Rosier of Macon.

Claude O. Rowland Jr.
Mr. Claude Oliver Rowland, Jr., 82, husband of Edna T. Rowland of Starr, S.C., entered into rest on Friday, February 17, 2006, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, S.C.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 19 in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Revs. Ed Hunsinger and Leland Pitts officiating. Interment followed in South Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Born in Lincolnton on February 7, 1924, Mr. Rowland was a son of the late Claude Oliver Rowland, Sr. and Mary Jane Hall Rowland. He was a retired truck driver with Merita Bakery for many years, an United States Navy World War II veteran, a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and he attended Starr Church of God of Prophecy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie G. Rowland; brothers J.C. Rowland, William Rowland, Walker Rowland, DeWitt Rowland, Eugene Rowland and a sister, Marie Myers.
Survivors include his wife, Edna T. Rowland; a daughter, Claudia Jenkins of Greenville, S.C.; a step-daughter, Myrtle Norwood of Williamston; a son, Roger Martin of Dearing, Ga.; a brother, James Rowland of Lincolnton; sisters, Mozelle Smalley, Myrtice Poss and Mary Jane Clement, all of Lincolnton, Elizabeth Blake of Augusta, Ga., and Clara Bonett and Jeanette Chapman, both of Aiken, S.C.; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and five step-greatgrandchildren.

Mrs. Grace Bailey Brown, 78, wife of the late George Lee Brown of Crook Road, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 13 at Beggs Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Aycox officiating. Interment followed at Loco Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown, a native of Hancock County, was the daughter of the late Amos and ZeeZee Treadwell Bailey. She had lived in Lincoln County for the past 44 years and was a member of Loco Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Billy Ray Parham and Lucky K. Parham of Lincolnton, David B. Parham of Evans, Ga. and Timothy W. Brown of North Augusta, S.C.; one daughter, Tammie B. Chaney of Lincolnton; a sister, Annette B. Prince of the home; seven grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.

Sarah M. Ivey
Mrs. Sarah M. Ivey, 81, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 28 at First Assembly of God with Revs. Lanis Lewis, Terry Bonds, Charles Ivey and Paul Reviere officiating. Interment followed at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Ivey was a native of Stephens County, but lived most of her life in Lincoln County. She was a member of First Assembly of God and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Ivey, Sr.
Survivors include seven stepchildren, Charles T. Ivey and wife, Ann, of Cartersville, Ga., John Allen Ivey and wife, Alice, of Martinez, Ga., Wade A. Ivey and wife, Judy, of Merritt Island, Fla., Grady L. Ivey of Merritt Island, Mary Alice Blanton of Columbus, Ga., Charlotte A. Long and husband, John, of Hinesville, Ga., and J.W. “Jake” Ivey, Jr. and wife, Wanda, of Martinez; thirteen grandchildren, Ben Ivey, Rebecca Walraven, Charlene Stouffer, Chris Smith, Kevin Ivey, Tammie Ivey, Jason Ivey, Myron Ivey, Peggy Ivey, Mark Ivey, Matt Ivey, Trent Long and Todd Long; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and five nieces.
