Rea Harris
CARLTON - Rea McConnell Harris, 99, died June 20, 2004 at the Brown Convalescent Center in Royston.
The Franklin County native was born March 22, 1905 to the late John F. and Ophelia Stevenson McConnell. She was the wife of the late Guy Harris and was a retired high school teacher, having taught in the Madison and Walton County school systems. She was a member of the Carlton Baptist Church.
Survivors include step - daughter Frances Kelly of Elberton; sisters, Mary M. Sewell of Carnesville, and Helen M. Smith of Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Bill Stacey officiated at the funeral services, held June 22, 2004 in the B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel. Interment followed in the Carlton Cemetery.

Glen Martin
TOCCOA - Glen M. Martin, 71, of Martin, died June 19, 2004 at the Lanier Park Campus of Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Born Jan. 22, 1933 in Stephens County, he was the son of Frank Martin and the late Myrtle Standridge Martin, and was the husband of Evelyn Haddock Martin. He had lived his entire life in Stephens and Franklin Counties, was employed with Coats and Clark for 20 years, and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Toccoa Congregational Holiness Church.
Survivors include his father, Frank Martin of Toccoa; wife, Evelyn Haddock Martin of the home; sons, David Martin of Martin, and Johnny Morris Martin, Eastanollee; daughters, Dianne Martin, Toccoa, and Wanda Martin, Chandler, Texas; brothers, John Henry Martin of Martin, and Frank Martin Jr., Eastanollee; sisters, Faye Fowler, Eastanollee, and Betty Ann Evans, Summerville, S.C.; and five grandchildren, several great - grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held June 22, 2004 at the Toccoa Congregational Holiness Church. The Rev. Jeryle Roach officiated. Entombment followed in Roselane Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Pioneer Club of Toccoa Congregational Holiness Church, P.O. Box 552, Toccoa, GA 30577.

Evelyn Garrison
CARNESVILLE - Evelyn Mae Conally Garrison, 75, of 870 Garrison Road, passed away Friday morning, June 18, 2004, at the Stephens County Hospital, Toccoa, GA.
Born May 27, 1929, in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Robert “Bob” and Winnie Bell Lewallen Conally. She was the widow of the late Fred Osley Garrison. She was the mother of the late Roger Dale Garrison, grandmother of Sherry and Joey Garrison, and sister of the late Annie Sue Conally. A retired seamstress, she worked for many years at the Georgia Sportswear in Carnesville. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and the Senior Saints.Survivors include:
Two sons Kenneth Michael Garrison and Larry Harold Garrison of Carnesville, seven grandchildren, six great - grandchildren, a brother, Morris Conally of Toccoa
Services will be Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Nail’s Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Childress and Rev. Duane Elder. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

J. Thurman Payne
LAVONIA - John Thurman Payne, 78, a resident of the Toccoa Nursing Center, Toccoa and formerly of Toccoa, died Monday, June 21, 2004 at Stephens County Hospital.
He was born Dec. 30, 1925 in Stephens County, a son of the late Allen and Lorena Childs Payne.
A US Navy veteran, he was retired from Vermont America and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine South Payne and a brother, Morris Payne.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam Eaton of Lavonia and Patty Reid of Adairsville; a son, Phillip Payne of Toccoa; a sister, Buena Segars, Deland, Fla.; three brothers, James Henry Payne, Stone Mountain; Vernon Payne, Columbus and Homer Payne, Blairsville; seven children and five great - grandchildren.
Services were held June 23, 2004 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. David Wilson and Dr. Doug Ferguson officiating. Burial followed in Franklin Memorial Gardens, North.

Cory Wilson
EASTANOLLEE - Corbin Roy "Cory" Wilson, 26, of Eastanollee, died Aug. 8, 2004.
The Oconee County, S.C. native was born Jan. 26, 1978 to Roy F. and Peggy Ivester Wilson. He was the husband of Delia Waldrop Wilson and was employed with Habersham Plantation. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his parents; his wife, Delia Waldrop Wilson of the home; daughter, Jordan Wilson, Eastanollee; stepson, Sean Kelley, Eastanollee; stepdaughter, Nicole Kelley, Eastanollee; sisters, Pamela Wilson, Toccoa, Melissa Payne, and Rebecca Ivester, both of Carnesville; brother, Jimmy Ivester, Eastanollee; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Aug. 11, 2004 from Broad River Baptist Church. The Revs. Jewell Gaines and Eddie Hyde and Mr. Tony Owenby officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Lynn Walters
Construction worker
HARTWELL - Michael Lynn Walters, 58, of 544 E. Johnson St. died Aug. 9, 2004 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
The son of Hazel Robertson Walters of Hartwell and the late Henry Walters was born in San Diego, Calif. on July 18, 1946 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era. He was a construction worker and was formerly employed by Georgia Power Company. He was a member of Hartwell First Baptist Church.
The Revs. Earl Wilson and Carter Tucker officiated at the graveside services, held Aug. 11, 2004 at Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

Wilhelmina Tomlinson

ROYSTON - Infant Wilhelmina Elizabeth Tomlinson of 31 Bond St., died Aug. 2, 2004.
She is survived by her parents, Sean and Charlotte Tomlinson; sister, Autumn Tomlinson; and brothers, Draven, Adorjan, and Adrian Tomlinson, all of the home.
A memorial service was held Aug. 7, 2004 at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel.

Jerry Rousey
Paramedic
ROYSTON - Jerry Allen Rousey, 48, of 3157 Sycamore Rd., died Aug. 3, 2004 at his home.
A native of Franklin County, he was born Dec. 20, 1955 to Wofford Rousey and Reba David Rousey, both of Royston. The husband of Kathy Jo Bingham Rousey was a paramedic in Franklin and Hall Counties and was a member of the Redwine United Methodist Church. He was a former Franklin County Coroner, a member of the Royston Volunteer Fire Department, Hartwell Airport Authority, and a Talladega Motor Speedway Paramedic.
He is survived, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Kathy Jo Bingham Rousey; sons, Brian Allen Rousey and Dylan Rousey; daughters, Autumn Nicole Rousey and Erica Paige Rousey; and sister, Barbara Beck, all of Royston.
Memorial services were held at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel on Aug. 6, 2004, with Mr. Terry Mize officiating. Interment followed in the Rose Hill cemetery in Royston.
Memorials may be made to the ALS Association, Georgia Chapter, 1955 Cliff Valley Way, Suite 116, Atlanta, GA 30329

Sandra Phillips

ROYSTON - Sandra Elaine Scarboro Phillips, 33, of 2536 Sandy Cross Rd., died Aug. 7, 2004 at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
The Peach County native was born Jan. 23, 1971 to Betty Jordan Scarboro and the late Thomas Berry Scarboro. She was the wife of Malone Phillips, a homemaker and a member of the Gordon Church in Royston.
Survivors include her mother, Betty Jordan Scarboro of Fort Valley; husband, Malone Phillips of Royston; daughter, Jessica Phillips, Royston; step - daughter, Christie Bowen, Royston; granddaughter, Ariana Bowen, Royston; step - mother, Patricia Jones Scarboro, Monticello; sisters, Diane Sanders, Canon, Linda Sullivan, Royston, Pam Thomas, Elberton; brother, Tommy Lee Scarboro, Fort Valley; and step - brothers, Ronnie Jones, Royston, and Felton Jones and Paul Jones, both of Monticello.
Funeral services were held Aug. 9, 2004 at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Andy Bond and Mike Crowe officiated. Burial followed in the Cary Memorial Gardens.

Broadus McLane

HARTWELL - Broadus A. McLane, 78, of 264 Payne Rd., died Aug. 5, 2004 at his home.
The Hart County native was born to the late Fred S. McLane and Eva Payne McLane on Oct. 25, 1925. He was the husband of Frances Frye McLane and was a WW II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the European Theater. He was a former radio announcer for WKLY and WANS, a radio dispatcher for Hart County Sheriff's Department, an emergency medical technician, owner of Mac's Gun Shop, former deputy coroner, an avid painter, a trustee for Mt. Olivet School, and a member of Central Fire Department and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Frye McLane of the home; son and daughter - in - law, David C. and Dale McLane, Nicholson; daughters and sons - in - law, Christy and Leonard Green, and Rebecca and Wayne Cleveland, all of Hartwell; seven grandchildren and two great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Aug. 8, 2004 from the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. The Revs. Gary McCurley and Ted Kelley officiated. Entombment followed in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Parks Kesler

HARTWELL - Oliver Parks Kesler, 75, of West Franklin Place, died July 29, 2004 at the Hart County Hospital in Hartwell.
A native of Franklin County, he was born June 29, 1929 to the late Henry and Luvie Addison Kesler. He was a retired heavy machine mechanic.
Survivors include sons, Douglas Kesler, Forsyth, Henry Kesler, Robert Kesler, and David Kesler, all of Hartwell; sisters, Hellon Moon, Hartwell, Pansy Martin, Toccoa, Lura Craft, Abbeville, Rachel Collins, Carnesville; brothers, H.V. Kesler, Lavonia and Jimmy Kesler, Carnesville; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Kesler; and sister, Janelle Kesler.
Memorial services were held July 31, 2004 at the B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home in Carnesville. The body was cremated and the remains buried at a later date at Prospect United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Glenn H. Kansorka

LAVONIA - Glenn Howard Kansorka, 70, of 343 Rocky Ford Rd., Shoal Creek community, Lavonia, passed away peacefully on Aug. 6, 2004 at his residence. He was surrounded by his beloved family and his best friend, Lamar Dean at the time of his going home.
Born in Toledo, Ohio on Feb. 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Otto H. and Helena Reiskie Kansorka and the husband of the late Audrey George Kansorka. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and was retired from the Stephens County School System. After driving a truck for Specter Red Ball Truck Lines from 1958 to 1971, he ventured into private business as an entrepreneur. He owned and operated, among other businesses, a Frontier Gas Station and Motel in Buffalo, Wyo. and a campground in Buffalo along Route 66. He attended the First Baptist Church of Lavonia.
Survivors include his companion, Carolyn Sherk Foster of the home; daughter and son - in - law, Lori and Henry Walters, Martin; step - children, Keith and Mary Foster, Dawsonville, Debbie Deborah Zanur, Edward and Katherine Leitner, Lee and Margaret Grube, Kevin and Kim Foster, all of Florida; sister, Marilyn Kurfas, Edgewater, Fla.; brother, Dale Kansorka, Toledo; grandchildren, Sarah Bowen, Stephen and Sonya Berryhill, Edward Covington, Alisha Berryhill, Amy Wood, Travis Walters, Amelia, Jessica and Kristina Leitner, Regina, Kevin, Ashley, and Brittany Foster, Katherine and Emily Zaner, and Foster and Brandon Grube; and great grandchildren, Jordan Foster and Josh and Emily Bowen.
He was preceded in death by sons, Gene Randall Kansorka and John (Marty) Berryhill; daughter, LuAnn Wood; brother, Ron Kansorka; and granddaughter, Natasha Brazeal.
The Revs. Ben Johnson and Richard Barber and Dr. Larry Finger officiated at the services, held Aug. 9, 2004 in the chapel of Hamby Funeral Home in Lavonia. Interment followed in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jewel Holmes

HARTWELL - Jewel "Lee" Hambrick Holmes, 83, of 2953 Royston Hwy. died Aug. 5, 2004 at Hart County Hospital in Hartwell.
Born July 15, 1921 in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Silas Hambrick and Lois Hambrick and the wife of the late John "Buck" Holmes. She was a retired seamstress from Stone Mfg. Company and was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons and daughters - in - law, Pat and Jane Holmes, and Jack and Mary Holmes, and Thomas and Maudine Holmes, all of Hartwell; daughters and sons - in - law, Mary and Charles McCurley of Elberton, and Jane and Joe Hinton of Anderson, S.C.; sister, Rosell Langeston, Warner Robins; 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Holmes; and brother, Henry Hambrick.
The Revs. Jerry Durham and Richard Bielski officiated at the funeral services, held Aug. 7, 2004, from Bethany Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
