ROYSTON - Mary Jessie Barbour (Tiny) Greer, 97, of Royston, died Aug. 3, 2004 at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center in Royston.
The daughter of the late Henry Barbour and Lily Purdue Barbour was born Dec. 17, 1906 in Ordway, Colo. She was the wife of the late Lucius Roberts Greer and was a homemaker, and a member of the Royston First United Methodist Church.
Graveside services were held at Rose Hill cemetery with Dr. Brian Clark officiating. Memorials may be made to the Royston First United Methodist Church, 137 Franklin Springs St., Royston, GA 20662.

Betty Jean Esco
Nursing home worker
WINTERVILLE - Betty Jean Esco, 74, died Aug. 2, 2004.
A native of Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Buford and Ester McGarty Strickland and the wife of Howard C. Esco. She was retired from Heritage Nursing Home and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Howard C. Esco; children, Surecia Riley, Maria Harshbarger, Angie Holliday, and Howard C. Esco Jr.; brother, Cyrus Strickland; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Aug. 5, 2004 in the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home East with the Rev. Howard Conine officiating. Interment followed in Rosehill cemetery in Royston.

Faye Cleveland

HARTWELL - Eleanor Faye King Cleveland, 74, of 2021 Reed Creek Hwy. died Aug. 3, 2004 at Hart Care Center.
The Hart County native was born Sept. 19, 1926 to the late Otto A. King and Edna Williams King; and was the wife of J. Herman Cleveland Sr. She was a former clerk with Harry Maret Supermarket and owner of Cleveland Nursery/Greenhouse, and a member of the Hartwell First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, J. Herman Cleveland Sr. of Hartwell; sons, James "Jim" H. Cleveland, Hoschton, Stewart D. Cleveland, Dewy Rose; sisters, Betty K. Bowen and Vernette K. Cleveland, both of Hartwell; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce King; and granddaughter, Melissa Faye Cleveland.
The Rev. Keith McKenzie and Mr. Fred Greenway officiated at the funeral, held Aug. 5, 2004 in the chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home. The Rev. Carter Tucker officiated at the graveside services in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park in Hartwell.

James Ballenger
Mechanic
CARNESVILLE - James "Red" Ralph Ballenger, 47, of 4050 Hwy 326, Carnesville, died July 28, 2004.
Born Dec. 1, 1956 in Jackson County, he was the son of Ralph and Janie Lee Wilson Ballenger of Homer. A truck and auto mechanic, he was currently employed by Interstate Truck and Equipment in Jefferson and had previously worked for 20 years for Bud Vaughn at the Goldmine Truck Repair. He was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived, in addition to his parents, by daughters and sons - in - law, Shelly Ann and Taylor Cannon, Lula, and Tammy and Shad Wilson, Carnesville; sons and daughter - in - law, Greg and Kimberly Ballenger, and David Pilgrim, all of Carnesville; sister and brother - in - law, Betty and Rick Collins, Homer; and four grandchildren.
The Revs. Bill Stacey and Tim Bennett officiated at the services, held July 31, 2004, at Indian Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Kim D. Pressley
Mrs. Kimberly (Kim) D. Pressley, 40, of McDonough died Tuesday.
Mrs. Pressley, born March 5, 1961, in Atlanta, was the daughter of Mack and Yvonne Baldwin of McDonough. She was a paraprofessional at Smith - Barnes Elementary School and a member of Morrow First United Methodist Church.
Survivors. in addition to her parents, include her husband, Randall W. Pressley; three daughters, Jennifer Renee Pressley and Jessica Jamie Pressley, both of McDonough, and Christy Loraine Riddle of Jonesboro; a son, Russell Allan Pressley of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, Stephen Bryan Baldwin of McDonough; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Cannon - Cleveland Funeral Home at 2580 Highway 42 North in McDonough (770 - 914 - 1414) with the Revs. Dean Milford and Steve Chenoweth officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mamie Whitfield
Mrs. Mamie Pearl Whitfield of 69 Nelson Road died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Whitfield, a native of Troup County, was the daughter of the late Mamie Pullens. She was a homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include seven grandchildren, Brenda and Forrest Cofield, Willie and Flora Stargill, Samuel Stargill, Eloise and Mitchell Strozier, Linda Hart, Mi, and Sharon Stargill, all of LaGrange; 14 great - grandchildren; seven great - great - grandchildren; a close nephew, Lewis and Freida Stargill of LaGrange; a son in law, Willie Jim Stargill of LaGrange; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Whitfield, and a daughter, Lorene Stargill.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Davis Road with Brother Tom Delaney officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.
The family will be at the homes of her granddaughters, Brenda Cofield at 69 Nelson Road and Linda Hart at 1112 Hammett Road.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.

Mrs. Virginia Daigrepont
Mrs. Virginia Miller Daigrepont of Fernandino Beach, Fla., died Sunday at Baptist Medical Center in Nassau County, Fla.
Mrs. Daigrepont, born October 24, 1915, in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Douglas and Maybel Davis Miller. She had lived in Florida for a number of years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis Donald Daigrepont of Fernandino Beach, Fla., and Anthony Daigrepont of LaGrange; a sister and brother - in - law, Joyce and Jessie Mixon of Fernandino Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren; and close friends, Billy and Patricia Harrington of LaGrange.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. this morning in Shadowlawn cemetery with the Rev. Brian Geter officiating.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road was in charge of arrangements.

Steven T. Rayburn
Steven Thomas Rayburn, 37, of Roswell died Sunday in Fulton County.
Mr. Rayburn, born May 8, 1963, in Atlanta, was the son of Gordy (Ike) and Sybil McRae Rayburn of LaGrange. He had lived in Atlanta for the last 12 years and was a professional chef. He was in the first graduating class of the Atlanta Culinary School.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a sister and brother - in - law, Michele and Tony Harris of LaGrange; a grandmother, Mrs. Gladys McRae of LaGrange; and a stepgrandmother, Mrs. Mildred Rayburn of Lake City Fla.,
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Crown Hill cemetery in Albany.
The family will be at their home at 306 Victoria Pointe and will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. this evening at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road.

Doris E. Doster, 71, of Riverdale died Saturday.
Survivors include her four sisters, Frances England of Duluth, Nancy Miles of LaGrange, Joann Coe of Lawrenceville and Brenda Lee of LaGrange; her brother, Pete Turner of Roanoke, Ala.; her five grandchildren, April Glenn of Denver, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Steven Doster Jr. of Douglasville, Christy Lynn Doster of Morrow, Adam Doster of Riverdale, Amanda Leigh Doster of Morrow; and her great - grandson, Austin Shubert of Morrow.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otha Cleveland Doster; her four children, Tony Cleveland Doster, Randall Terrell Doster, Floyd Steven Doster Jr. and Larry Mitchell; and her two brothers, Richard Turner Jr. and Donald Turner.
The funeral service for Mrs. Doster will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the Morrow Chapel of Pope Dickson and Son Funeral Home. Dr. Joe K. Tanner will officiate. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Shadowlawn cemetery in LaGrange.
The family will receive friends tonight from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Pope Dickson and Son Funeral Home in Morrow.

Mrs. Mattie Arnold
Mrs. Mattie Lee Arnold, 82, of 621 Freeman St., died Saturday at her residence.
Mrs. Arnold, born April 1, 1919 in Shawmut, Ala., was the daughter of the late Stanley Jackson and Alma Urania Smith Jones. She had lived here most of her life and was a retired administrative clerk from the business office of West Georgia Medical Center. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was the secretary for the Fellowship Club and a member of the UMW.
Survivors include one daughter and son - in - law, Dorothy and Miles Koone; two granddaughters and grandsons - in - law, Susan and Andy Phillips, and Wanda and Mark Costley, all of LaGrange; one grandson, Bobby Koone of Hogansville; four great - grandchildren, Brooke Phillips, Matthew Costley, Amber Costley, all of LaGrange, and Haley Koone of Hogansville; one sister, Eva Wise of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Arnold and Joe Duke.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand Chapel. The Rev. David Brackman will officiate. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Robert (Buddy) Laye 46, died Saturday at Atlanta Medical Center.
Mr. Laye, born September 28, 1954, in Heard County, was the son of the late Robert Sr. and Jessie Lee Cameron Laye. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert Anthony Delaney; two grandsons, Quintavious and Juandarius Delaney; four brothers, Russell Jerome Laye, Ralph Edward Laye, Jessie James Laye, and Frankie Laye, all of LaGrange; five sisters, Nora Sandra Tate of Washington, D.C., Gloria Laye Bradshaw and Timothy Brown, Jearlean Laye Jennings, Beverly Kennedy and Matilda Terrell, all of LaGrange; eight aunts, Mrs. Odessa Person, Mrs. Rosa Cameron, Mrs. Louise Wood, Mrs. Rosa Person, Mrs. Dorothy Laye, Mrs. Ella Mae Greene, Mrs. Ruby Turner and Mrs. Margaret Laye; six uncles, Eddie B. Person, W.C. Laye, Willie Frank Laye, Charlie Lewis Laye, Booker T. Laye and Henry Laye; a close friend, Melinda C. Hinton; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Canaan Baptist Church on Highway 219 North with the Rev. A. A. Heard Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his sister, Gloria Bradshaw, at 504 South Lee St.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Fred C. Hendricks
Fred C. Hendricks, 89, of LaGrange died Thursday at Alvista Nursing Home in Greenville.
Mr. Hendricks, born May 30, 1911, in Troup County, was the son of the late Cleveland and Maude Allen Hendricks. He had lived here all his life and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired dairy farmer and had worked for the James Gallant family and Daniel Lumber Company for many years. He was member of South Highland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Pat and Roger Cummings of LaGrange; a sister, Mrs.. Grace Simmons of Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Tammy Gooch and Tangee Lindsey, both of LaGrange, and Tonya Nix of Columbus; and great - grandchildren, Justin Doughman, Holly Gooch, Cody Doughman, Heather Gooch, Andrea Nix and Sydney Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Martha Stitt Hendricks.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road with the Rev. Max McCord officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at 1138 John Lovelace Road and will receive friends from 6 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.
