John Lee Harrison
John Lee Harrison, 67, of 102 Foch St., died Sunday at his home
Mr. Harrison, born July 5, 1933, in Oakland, Ala., was the son of the late Green and Georgia Harrison. He was a retired lumber company worker. He was a member of Wehadkee Baptist Church and was a retired from Daniel Lumber Company after 38 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Scott and Tracy Willis, Brenda and Ronnie Grier all of LaGrange, Jarvis and Ira Williams of Auburn, Ala., two sisters - in - law, Sarah Harrison and Mary Harrison, both of LaGrange; 11 grandchildren; 20 great - grandchildren; close friends, Betty Jean Haynes and Junior Strozier; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home with the Rev. J.R. Ware officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his niece, Flora Stargell, at 154 Nelson Road.

Miss Curlan McFarland
Miss Curlan McFarland, 93, of 35 Tucker Circle in the Cannonville Community died Monday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Miss McFarland, born June 17, 1907, in Troup County, was the daughter of the late John and Ida Heard McFarland. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church.
Survivors include a brother, Edward (Ponder) McFarland of LaGrange; a close niece and caretaker, Susie Ward of LaGrange; godchildren, Carrie W. and Randy Mays of Lanett, Ala., Kenneth and Almega Palmer of LaGrange, Argo and Mary Hill of New York City and A.F. and Myrtice Hill of Philadelphia, Pa.; two grandchildren, Daphne and Natalie Culpepper of West Point; seven great - grandchildren; and a number of other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Oscar (Shag) Boyd, two sisters, and 10 brothers.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul C.M.E. Church at 250 Lower Glass Bridge Road with the Rev. Lovett Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at her home.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edna A. Rice
Mrs. Edna A. Rice, 87, of LaGrange died Thursday in West Point.
Mrs. Rice, born June 23, 1913, in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late James Daniel and Dora Elma Moore Arrington. She had lived here all her life and was a retired bookkeeper from LaGrange Realty and Insurance. She was a member of East Vernon Baptist Church where she was director of the children's choir and a former member of First Baptist Church on the Square where she was the pianist in the Junior Department. She was a homemaker and taught piano lessons for many years.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Emily Rice and Charles Ewell of West Point; a son and daughter - in - law, John and Helen Rice of Hogansville; four grandchildren, Benjamin Garrett of Atlanta, Phillip Rice and Russell Rice, both of LaGrange, and Julie Snellgrove of Birmingham, Ala.; and a brother, Frank J. Arrington of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. Rice, and two granddaughters, Tamara Lynn Garrett and Ginger Garrett.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Shadowlawn cemetery with the Rev. Scott Russell officiating.
The family will be at the home of her daughter and will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mrs. Rice.

Mrs. Willie Mae May
Mrs. Willie Mae May, 79, formerly of Amberwood Apartments, died Thursday at Franklin Health Care.
Mrs. May, born April 8 1921, in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Willie M. and Ellen Inez Willis Levens. She was a member of the United Congregational Christian Church and was a retired saleswoman from Homes Pharmacy and worked as a senior companion.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Edna Bledsoe; two brothers, Walter Levens and Billie Levens, all of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road with the Revs. Robert Dodds and Sid Shelnutt officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her niece, Barbara Gray, at 201 Chesterfield Place, and will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

W. Preston Etheridge
William Preston Etheridge, 79, of Greenville died Thursday at his home.
Mr. Etheridge, born June 29, 1921, in Brantley, Ala., was the son of the late Daniel and Bessie Davis Etheridge. He had lived in Greenville for many years and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a retired truck driver and a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margie Stitcher Etheridge of Greenville; a sister, Frances E. Smith of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville with the Rev. Jonathan Porter officiating. A private burial will be in Greenville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1 until 2 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Janice Popwell
Mrs. Janice King Popwell, 62, of 2142 Heritage Heights in Decatur, formerly of LaGrange, died Wednesday at Fountain View Alzheimer's Center in Atlanta.
Mrs. Popwell, born November 8, 1938, in Bibb County, was the daughter of Mrs. Jessie King of LaGrange and the late Will Morgan King. She was a 1957 graduate of LaGrange High School and was a former employee of Yancey Brothers Company in Atlanta. She was a member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church in Decatur.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, David Popwell of Decatur; a daughter, Debbie Lore of Senoia; three grandchildren, Joseph Mullins of Buchanan, and Danny Head Jr. and Brittany Head, both of Montgomery, Ala.; two sisters, Elaine O'Neal and Myrna Banks, both of LaGrange; a brother, Michael King of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Shadowlawn cemetery with the Rev. Chris Davis officiating
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home.

Mrs. Joyce Correll
Mrs. Joyce Sue Correll, 70, of Peachtree City, formerly of Franklin and LaGrange, died Tuesday at Fayette Community Hospital in Fayetteville.
Mrs. Correll, born August 18, 1930, in Heard County, was the daughter of the late Wilburn Warner and Sue Harris Costley.
Survivors include a son, Michael Stephens of Louisiana; four grandchildren, Nicole Stephens Robinson of Peachtree City, Sulah Stephens Northrop of Locust Grove and Tina Marie Stephens and Kimberly Sue Stephens, both of LaGrange; and three great - grandchildren, Jay Keith Northrop Jr., Asia Veronica Northrop and Chandler Nelson Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Correll, a son, Grady Morris Stephens and two brothers, Wilburn Warner Costley Jr. and Bradley Costley.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Elliott M. Snellings
Elliott Merrick Snellings of Dayton, Ohio, died Saturday.
Local survivors include his parents, Clifford and Nancy Snellings of LaGrange; and other survivors, Herman and Chilla Mae Snellings, Austell and Lola Mae Snellings and Fred and Golden Mae Snellings.
Funeral services will be Thursday in Dayton.

Kelvin Harris
Kelvin Harris of 111 Wright St., died Friday.
Mr. Harris, a native of LaGrange, was the son of Patricia Ann Hardy and the late Eddie Dean Cotton. He was a former employee of O.C. Knight Industrial Company of Newnan.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include eight children, Sonata McCamey, Kelviyuanna Grier, Kevarious Sessions, Anysia Jarrell and Shanterri Harris, all of LaGrange, Kentavis Hall and Kaleshia Hill, both of Newnan, and Dreon Blackmon of Peachtree City; four sisters, Lavonia Harris, Quanita Harris, Lakeshia Hardy and Tonya Caldwell, all of LaGrange; two brothers, Marcel Cotton of LaGrange and Shun Johnson of Ohio; grandmothers, Geneva Harris of Newnan and Anita Cotton of Jonesboro; great - grandmothers, Rosie Lee Brown and Edith Stanley, both of Atlanta; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church on Mason Street with the Rev. O.C. Stiggers officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his mother, Patricia Ann Hardy, at 205 Vines St., and at the home of his sister, Lavonia Lavette Harris, at 800 Mona Lane, Apt. A.

Lynn Francis Tabaka
Lynn Francis Tabaka of Peachtree City died Monday.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty R. Tabaka of Peachtree City; a daughter and son - in - law, Anne and Del Boland of Tyrone; and a grandson, David Boland.
A memorial mass will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father Larry Niese celebrating.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Mr. Tabaka.

Mrs. Margaret Thompson
Mrs. Margaret E. Thompson, 58, of 161 New Airport Road died Tuesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Thompson, born June 12, 1942, in Greeneville, Tenn., was the daughter of the late James Harman and Josephine Foulks Brooks. She had lived here for a number of years, and was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Emmett J. Thompson of LaGrange; a daughter and son - in - law, Judy and Jeff Whitaker; three grandchildren, Christopher Whitaker and Amanda Kate Whitaker, all of Wilmer, Ala., and Nikki Carroll of Clearwater, Fla.; two stepdaughters and a stepson - in - law, Penny Thompson of Roswell and Elaine and Steve Carroll of Largo, Fla.; and a brother and sister - in - law, William and Susie Brooks of Greeneville, Tenn.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road with the Rev. Michael Reeves officiating. Entombment will be in Shadowlawn Mausoleum.
The family will be at her home and will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
