Mrs. Clara Peeples
Mrs. Clara Peeples, 96, of 318 Stovall Road died Tuesday at Twin Fountains Home.
Mrs. Peeples, born September 18, 1904, in Troup County, was the daughter of the late Daniel and Nan Smith Thompson. She had lived here for the last 50 years and was a Methodist.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Peeples.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Max McCord officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Baptist Church cemetery in Vaughn at 2 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday morning from 10 until 11.

Geraldine Deafenbaugh
Mrs. Geraldine Rose (Gerry) Deafenbaugh, 71, of Newark, Ohio, died Monday at LPN Healthcare Facility.
Mrs. Deafenbaugh, born February 4, 1930, in Newark, Ohio, was the daughter of the late George W. and Blanche Belle Devoll Daugherty. She was a 1948 graduate of Hanover High School and attended Wayne Bible College in Indiana from 1952 - 1955. She was a former teacher in the Newark City School System from 1967 - 1974 and ran a private daycare center in her home since 1985. She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church.
Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Robert S. Deafenbaugh; a daughter, Georgette Curry of LaGrange; a stepson, Robert J. and Nancy Deafenbaugh of Sidney, Ohio; four grandchildren, Michelle and Dylan Curry and Daniel and Mary Elizabeth Deafenbaugh; two nieces and their spouses, Marian and Ray Hull and Patricia and Paul D. Price; and several great - nieces and nephews and great - great - nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul King and two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church at 88 North Fifth Street in Newark, Ohio, with the Rev. Warren Way officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service at59 North Fifth Street in Newark Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Grace Fellowship Church, Nancy Way, Treasurer, 392 Jefferson Road, Newark, Ohio, or to Hospice of Central Ohio, 1984A Coffman Road, Newark, Ohio.

Tommy T. Chaney
Tommy T. Chaney, 59, of 17 Cedarcrest Road died Monday at his home.
Mr. Chaney, born November 29, 1941, in Carrollton, was the son of the late Chester G. and Bessie Entrekin Chaney. He had lived here since 1949 and was employed with Brown Steel Contractors of Newnan. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lynda I. Chaney of LaGrange; two daughters and sons - in - law, Wanda and Larry McManus of LaGrange and Pam and Randy Williams of Hogansville; two sons and a daughter - in - law, Randall Chaney and James and Tammy Chaney, all of LaGrange; four grandchildren, Melissa Caldwell and Lacy Williams of Hogansville and Amy Turner and Abbie Chaney of LaGrange; a great - grandson, Austin Caldwell of Lagrange; three sisters, Mrs. Cornelia Fincher of Phenix City, Ala., Mrs. Helen Navarre of Hinesville and Mrs. Juanita Morman of LaGrange; a brother, Wilburn Chaney of Pine Lake; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m Wednesday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road with the Rev. Michael Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will be at his home and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 9.

Jim T. Cook
Jim T. Cook, 79, of Franklin died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Cook was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Heard County to the late Charlie Heard Cook and Fannie Lee Williams Cook. He was a retired maintenance worker and electrician with Milliken and Co., and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church, but had been a supporter of the Prospect Methodist Church in Texas since his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Lavelle Mooney Cook of Franklin; two sisters, Lois McCauley of Long Beach, Calif., and Imogene Turman of Franklin; two brothers, Raymond Cook of Newnan and Amos Cook of Franklin; one daughter - in - law, Patricia Cook; and two grandchildren, Kristen and Marty Cook, all of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by two sons, Clarence and Jimmy Cook.
Funeral services will be Monday at 4 p.m. at Prospect United Methodist Church with the Revs. Don Jolly and Ken May officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m.

John H. Whitley
John H. Whitley, 73, of 811 Wisteria Way died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Whitley was born Dec. 9, 1927 in LaGrange, son of the late W.C. Whitley and Nancy Arizona Dalrymple Whitley. He was a lifelong area resident and a member of First Baptist Church on the Square, where he was a deacon and had served in various positions. He was past Sunday school superintendent of the Troup County Baptist Association. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School and LaGrange College, where he was past president of the Men's Alumni Association. He also was past president of the LaGrange Academy Family, had served as a Troup County commissioner and was neighborhood commissioner with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner, and a past member of the LaGrange Jaycees, the Kiwanis Club and the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Lena Knight Whitley; two daughters, Fran Whitley of Atlanta and Lynn Whitley Nixon of LaGrange; a son - in - law, Jeff Nixon of LaGrange; a step - grandson, Harrison Nixon of LaGrange; two brothers and sisters - in - law, Donell and Jeanette Whitley and Fred and Ruth Whitley, all of LaGrange; a sister, Mildred Sprouse of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Clarence Whitley.
Funeral services will be Monday at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul R. Baxter and the Rev. Max McCord officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Striffler - Hamby Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. Grace Trawick
Mrs. Grace B. Trawick, 78, of 1621 Porters Corners Road in Sylvester died Friday at her residence.
The daughter of the late Warner Tynce Brazil and Mattie Mae Harper Brazil, Mrs. Trawick was born June 13, 1922 in Heard County. She was the former manager of the lunch counter at Middleton Pharmacy in Albany and had served as hostess of the Dalton Country Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylvester and a member of the Paul Joiner Fellowship.
She is survived by her husband, Haynes T. Trawick of Sylvester; two sons and daughters - in - law, Roger and Doris Beck of Milledgeville, and Kenneth and Sherrian Beck of Baconton; two step - daughters and sons - in - law, Sylvia and Paul Joiner Jr., of Albany and Marilyn and Jeff Bishop of Dothan, Ala.; one sister, Genova Stevens of LaGrange; two brothers, Bobby Brazil of Hogansville, and John B. Brazil of Marietta; and 11 grandchildren and 18 great - grandchildren. Caregivers included Betty Brazil, Kenny Chapin, Stacey Barber and Michelle Jones.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Banks Funeral Home Chapel in Sylvester with Dr. Tom Jacobs and the Rev. Ray Bittner officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Willard F. Clegg
Willard F. 'Bill' Clegg, 77, of 60 N. Barnard Ave., died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Clegg was born Jan. 15, 1924 in Wadley, Ala., son of the late John Thomas Clegg and Cludie Kenady Clegg. He had lived in LaGrange for the past 60 years and was a member of Dunson Baptist Church. He retired after 30 years of service with Dunson Mills and went on to retire as an agent with New York Life Insurance Co.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mattie Prince Clegg; a daughter and son - in - law, Ellen and Tom Steele; a son, Gerald Clegg; a granddaughter, Polly Griesbach; two brothers, Rupert Clegg and George Clegg; and a sister, Mary Ingersoll, all of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Striffler - Hamby Mortuary's LaGrange chapel with the Rev. Billy E. Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 4 to 6 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7605, Columbus, Ga. 31908.

Johnnie W. Carr
Johnnie W. Carr of 204 Springdale Drive died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Carr, born August 27, 1921, in LaGrange, was the son of the late John Albert and Gertrude Turner Carr. He had lived here most of his life and was a retired U.S. Postal Service letter carrier. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Mountville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice Connally Carr of LaGrange; a daughter, Sherry Carr Robbins of Oneonta, Ala.; two sons, Walter Carr of Jacksonville, Fla., and Freddie Carr of Peachtree City; six grandchildren, Shane Carr, Cheri' Murphy, Michael Carr, Cynthia Haygood, Vince Robbins and Kevin Robbins; and eight great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with Drs. William Conine and George R. Sinclair Jr. and the Rev. Winston Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Alvaton.
The family will be at his home and will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 6 until 8.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to The National Parkinsons Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Ave., Miami, Fla., 33136, in memory of Mr. Carr.

Mrs. Essie Phillips
Mrs. Essie King Kelley Phillips, 90, of Thomaston, formerly of the Harrisonville Community died Thursday at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston.
Mrs. Phillips, born August 16, 1910, in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late James Edward and Mary Pearl Pope King. She had lived in Thomaston for four years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Rogers of Thomaston, Dorothy Hollingsworth of Shreveport, La., Sally Wilson of Gainesville, and Peggy McWhorter of LaFayette, Ala.; five sons, Luther Kelley Jr. of Lizella, Dwight Kelley of Hogansville, Douglas Kelley of Marietta, and Wayne Kelley of LaGrange; a sister Ruby Glore of Macon; 26 grandchildren, 21 great - grandchildren; and several great - great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at this morning at Pasley - Fletcher Funeral Home in Thomaston with the Rev. Steve Maguire and Dr. Dale Roberson officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Meadoway Gardens in LaGrange.

Mrs. Robbie J. Lewis
Mrs. Robbie Jean Lewis, 64, of Woodland, Ala., died Thursday at Wedowee Hospital in Wedowee, Ala.
Mrs. Lewis, born February 10, 1937, in Troup County, was the daughter of Mrs. Bernice Cook Cummings of LaGrange and the late Lloyd Cummings. She was employed at Wedowee Hospital and was a member of Flat Rock Congregational Methodist Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, William T. Lewis of Woodland, Ala.; two daughters, Patti Sweet of Collierville, Tenn., and Wanda Crow of Pine Mountain; two sons, Tommy Lewis of Woodland and Keith Lewis of Graham, Ala; a brother Sonny Cummings of LaGrange; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Flat Rock Congregational Methodist Church with the Revs. Ernest Lipham and Leron Murphy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee from 6 until 8.

John DeWayne Stevens
John DeWayne Stevens, 32, of 1070 Salem Road died Tuesday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Stevens, born October 19, 1968, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He had lived here most of his life and worked for Midsouth Mechanical as a millwright.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Stevens of LaGrange; his mother, Linda McCormick of Franklin; three sons, Justin Stevens, Jacob Stevens and Kyle Stevens; and a stepson, Jonathan Gill, all of LaGrange; and grandmother, Genova Stevens.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Midway Baptist Church in Harris County with the Revs. Gerald Westbrook and Dennis Harry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road from 6 until 8.
