Rev. Johnny N. Young
Funeral services for the Rev. Johnny Newt Young, 69, of Newnan, formerly of Randolph County, Ala., and Butler, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Center Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs. Tommy Gene Young, Derick Farr and Roger Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.The Rev. Young died Tuesday at Peachtree Regional Medical Center in Newnan.
Born December 10, 1931, in Randolph County, Ala., he was the son of Mrs. Annie B. Wood Young of Roanoke, Ala., and the late Tommie Newt Young. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of Jacksonville State University and Auburn University with a degree in business management and accounting. He was a former pastor of Forest Home, Corinth and State Line Congregational Christian Churches. He was employed as a comptroller at the Bibb Company and was a member of Forest Home Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Mrs. Geraline Frances Young; three daughters, Sharron Jones and Sharain Young, all of Newnan, and Shacklyn Poague of Senoia; three sons, Dr. Shan Young of Jacksonville, Ala., Swain Young of Newnan and Shaphan Young of Brooks; a sister, Patricia Robinson of LaGrange; a brother, Tommy Gene Young of Roanoke, 16 grandchildren and one great - grandchild.
The family will receive friends today from 4 until 8 at Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke, Ala.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to the American Heart Association, 7320 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas, 75231, in memory of the Rev. Young.

Barnard H. McLeroy
Barnard H. (Mac) McLeroy, 75, of the Louise Community died Sunday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. McLeroy, born February 16, 1925, in LaGrange, was the son of the late Acee Clarence and Carrie Hartley McLeroy. He had lived here all his life and retired as plant foreman for the Coca - Cola Bottling Company in LaGrange. He was a member and deacon of welcome All Baptist Church in Hogansville.
Survivors, include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Price McLeroy of the Louise Community; a daughter and son - in - law, Cindy and Marshall Cofield of LaGrange; two sons and a daughter - in - law, Earnest McLeroy of Valley, Ala., and the Rev. Tommy and Susie McLeroy of Louise; two brothers and sisters - in - law, Kenneth and Delsie McLeroy and Harry and Margaret LeMieux, all of LaGrange; seven grandchildren, three great - grandchildren; and close friends, Randy and Kathy Cofield.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Welcome All Baptist Church in Hogansville with the Rev. Tommy McLeroy and Dr. Ralph Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Meadoway Gardens.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at the Claude A.. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.

Charles East
Charles East, 35, of 187 Chase Road died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. East, born June 5, 1965, in Anniston, Ala., was the son of Harold and Jessie Butler East. He had lived here all his life and was associated with East Furniture and Appliance.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a sister and brother - in - law, Debra and Terry Aldridge; three brothers and a sister - in - law, Danny East, and Tim and Anna East, all of LaGrange, and Dwyane East of Abbeville, Ala.; his grandfather, John D. Butler Jr. of LaGrange; and a number aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Derrick Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Meadoway Gardens.
The family will be at his home and will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road.

Claude Lee Horne
Claude Lee Horne, 61, of 1267 Youngs Mill Road died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Horne, born March 1, 1939, in Roanoke, Ala., was the son of Claude Lee Sr. and Ruth Geter Horne. He retired from the Army after 20 years of service having served two tours in Vietnam. He was the former co - owner of J&L; Transmission and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Roxanne C. Horne of LaGrange; two sons, Michael L. Horne of Roanoke and David Horne of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Angela VonWebb and Ann Horne, both of Tennessee; a stepson, J. R. Choquette of Mountville; two stepdaughters, Kimella Dawn Choquette of LaGrange and Melanee C. Morgan of West Point; 12 grandchildren; a brother, William Horne of Five Points, Ala.; a sister Ruth Horne Powell of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be at his home.
Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jack Gesselman
Harry (Jack) Gesselman, 76, of 301 Harwell Ave., died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Gesselman, born February 2, 1924, in Lewistown, Pa., had lived here since 1966. He retired from the Army as a sergeant major after more than 28 years of service having received three Purple Hearts, a Good Conduct Medal with bronze clasp and two loops, an Army Commendation Medal, American Campaign Medal with four Battle Stars, the European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation (Germany) Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He retired from the Wansley Plant of Georgia Power and was a former corrections officer at the Roosevelt Corrections Institute in Warm Springs.
Survivors include five sons, Jackey Gesselman, Windy Gesselman, Bruce Gesselman and George Gesselman, all of LaGrange and James Michael Gesselman of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Tonjia Gesselman, Brittany Gesselman, Mandy Gesselman, Amber Gesselman, Bobby Gesselman, Travis Gesselman and Nicholas Gesselman, all of LaGrange, and Tina Gesselman of Virginia.
Cryptside services will be at 1 this afternoon in Shadowlawn Mausoleum with the Rev. Bryan Geter officiating.
Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Martha D. LaGrone
Mrs. Martha Dunson LaGrone, 78, of 322 Belmont Ave., in Greenville, S.C., died Saturday.
Mrs. LaGrone, born in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Jarrell Ridley and Eula Leigh Dunson. She worked as a journalist for United Press International. She was a communicant of Christ Church Episcopal in Greenville, S.C., where she was a member of the Altar Guild, Women of the Church and Daughters of the King. She was a member and past regent of the Greenville Daughters of the American Revolution, past secretary of the South Carolina Genealogy Association, past president of the Debutante Club of Greenville, a member of the Huguenot Society of South Carolina, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in South Carolina, the Junior League of Greenville, Wildwood Garden Club, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a former member of the Quadrille.
Survivors include a son, Arthur Welling LaGrone Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. John Pratt (Jarrell LaGrone) Bruner and Mrs. Daniel Henry (Ann LaGrone) Bull, both of Greenville, S.C.; and six grandchildren, Arthur Welling LaGrone III of Boston, Mass., David Wright LaGrone of Nashville, Tenn., Elizabeth Bull Reames of New York, N.Y., Ann Dunson Bull of Charlotte, N.C., and Martha Clark Bruner and Martha LaGrone Bruner, both of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Welling LaGrone.
Funeral services will be this afternoon at 4 at Christ Church Episcopal in Greenville with Dr. Roberts Dannals officiating. Burial will be in the church yard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Christ Church Episcopal, 10 North Church St., Greenville, S.C., 29601, in memory of Mrs. LaGrone.
The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, in Greenville, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vickie R. Hancock
Mrs. Vickie Ruth Hancock, 46, of 1515 Hogansville Road died Saturday at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.
Mrs. Hancock, born November 24, 1954, in LaGrange, was the daughter of Mrs. Nancy Robinson Rice and the late Garvin Rice. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Lamar Hancock; a daughter and son - in - law, Kristi and Philmon Thompson; two sons, Chris Rice and Lamar G. Hancock, all of LaGrange; five grandchildren; two brothers and sisters - in - law, Freddie and Robin Rice of Newnan and Jimmy and JoAnn Rice of LaGrange; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery in Newnan.
The family will be at the home of her daughter and son - in - law, Kristi and Philmon Thompson, at 232 Hearthstone Drive and will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road.

William G. Pound
William G. Pound, 91, of 604 Park Ave., died Saturday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Pound, born August 28, 1909, in Lineville, Ala., was the son of the late Thomas Matthew and Minnie Clyde Alexander Pound. He had lived here most of his life and retired from the National Guard with 25 years of service and from the Calumet Plant of Milliken & Company. He was an honorary member of the West Georgia Walkers Club and of the former Unity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and a son - in - law, Becky and Ira Garrett and Brenda Gregg, all of LaGrange; two sons and a daughter - in - law, Archie and Belinda Pound of Jonesboro and Tommy Pound of Jackson Miss.; eight grandchildren, four great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Beck Pound.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Revs. Marion M. Shivers and A. Hansel Parmer officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will be at the home of his daughter and son - in - law, Becky and Ira Garrett, at 822 New Franklin Road, Five Oaks Lot 11, and will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to the organization of choice in memory of Mr. Pound.

Greg Sherrod
Greg Sherrod, 33, of LaGrange died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Sherrod, born June 19, 1967, had lived here most of his life. He was in the pipeline construction business and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Pressley Sherrod; a daughter, Geny Arnold; a son, Joshua Sherrod; his mother, Mrs. Ellen Sherrod; a brother, Clarence Glenn (Butch) Sherrod Jr.; two sisters, Belinda Sherrod, all of LaGrange, and Brenda King of Lanett, Ala.; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mildred Hardy of Kentucky.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Robinson officiating.
The family will be at 8 Tuggle St., and will receive friends from noon until the service hour Sunday at the funeral home.

Jimmy M. Osborn
Evangelist Jimmy M. Osborn, 53, of 129 Ragland St., died Wednesday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Osborn, born February 14, 1948, in LaGrange, was the son of the late Dal and Eva Mitchell Osborn. He had lived here all his life and was a Pentecostal evangelist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kay Osborn of LaGrange; two daughters, Katrina Burden of Franklin and Kalena Osborn of LaGrange; two sons, Jimmy M. Osborn Jr. and Jeremy Osborn, both of LaGrange; two grandsons, Antron Burden and Davon Osborn; three sisters and two brothers - in - law, Carolyn B. and Ray Sheppard, Opal and John Turner and Brenda Osborn Turner, all of LaGrange; and four brothers and two sisters - in - law, S.W. and Luvinia Osborn, Billy and Jean Osborn, Donnie Osborn and Jacky Osborn, all of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road with the Revs. Robert Longshore and Billy Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at his home and will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
