James Curtis Johnson
James Curtis Johnson, 87, of 37 Chase Road died Thursday at Florence Hand Home.
Mr. Johnson, born July 27, 1913, in Cleburne County, Ala., had lived here most of his life and was an Army veteran of World War II, having received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired from the Dixie Division of West Point Pepperell and was a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Janice and Wendall Brown; three grandchildren and their spouses, Debbie and Alan Shelnutt, Donna and Russ Addison and Darren and Jan Brown; six great - grandchildren, Josh, Justin and Jackson Shelnutt, Brent and Brooke Addison and Bethany Brown, all of LaGrange; a sister, Ruth Yarbrough of Ducktown, Tenn.; a brother - in - law, and sister - in - law, Edward and Ruth Dukes of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie Mae Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his daughter and son - in - law, Janice and Wendall Brown at 51 Chase Road and will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 until 9.

Mrs. Bessie R. Moore
Mrs. Bessie R. Moore, 93, of Lanett, Ala., died Wednesday at East Alabama Medical Center.
Mrs. Moore, born January 14, 1908, in Woodbury, was the daughter of the late Willie Lee and Rose Ella Coe Roberts. She retired from West Point Pepperell after 38 years of service in the Lanett and Fairfax Mills. She was a sitter for Dr. M.C. Hunt for 11 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Mitchum of Lanett; three sons, William Haynes of LaGrange, Norman Haynes of Greenwood, S.C. and Douglas Murphy of Athens; two sisters, Leila Bassett of LaGrange and Mary Bennett of Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Lanett Church of Christ with the Rev. Nathan Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in Hillview East Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Lanett Church of Christ in memory of Mrs. Moore.

Mrs. Miriam Williamson
Mrs. Miriam K. Williamson, 70, of Greenville died Tuesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Williamson, born September 8, 1930, in Fulton County, was the daughter of the late Clarence Hubert and Estelle Black King. She retired as head teller from the Greenville Banking Company and was a member of Greenville Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and sons - in - law, Linda and Gerald Cosdin of Greenville and Lisa and Marion Dodds of Luthersville; three sons, Jon and Teresa Williamson and Brian and Mandy Williamson all of LaGrange, and Ben and Delanie Williamson of Luthersville; a brother, Jim King of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; and two great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Williamson.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Meriwether Memory Gardens in Manchester with the Rev. Jonathan Porter officiating.
The family will be at her home and will receive friends tonight at Smith - Steele - Meadows Funeral Home in Woodbury from 6 until 8.

Mrs. Carrie Bishop
Mrs. Carrie Bishop, 86, of 206 East Lakeview Drive died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Bishop, born August 22, 1914, in Decatur County, was the daughter of the late Eivy W. and Ann Jeanette Martin Parker. She had lived here for 16 years, was a member emeritus of the Miriam Chapter #32 of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of East Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters - in - law, Kenneth and Margaret Bishop of Ringgold and Gene and Bonita Bishop of LaGrange; a brother, Charlie Parker of Bainbridge; two grandchildren, two step grandsons, four great - grandchildren and a great - great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Bishop.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with The Rev. Scott Russell and Pastor Clayton Scott officiating. Burial will be in West Bainbridge cemetery in Bainbridge at 4 p.m. with Dr. Edmond Long officiating.
The family will be at her home and will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 until 8.

Mrs. Lena Truitt
Mrs. Lena Truitt of 20 Fulton St., died Tuesday at her home.
Mrs. Truitt, a native of Troup County, was the daughter of the late John and Cherry Lee Daniel Byrd. She retired from Royal Elaine Nursing Home as a nurses aide. She was a Baptist and was a deaconess, missionary president, motherboard secretary, president of the usher board in several local churches and a member of the Baptist association and convention.
Survivors include her husband, Corris Truitt of LaGrange; four daughters and sons - in - law, Dorothy and Bennie Robinson of Arlington, Va., Agnes and Dillard Rice of Willingboro, N.J., Lillian and Robert Floyd of Dayton Ohio, and Marion and John Brown of Riverdale; a son, James Truitt of LaGrange, 18 grandchildren, 19 great - grandchildren, three great - great - grandchildren;a brother - in - law, Robert H. Truitt of Ohio; a sister - in - law, Lizzie Lue Phillips of LaGrange; nieces, nephews, cousins and helper, Patricia Hardy of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Leete Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Tompkins officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
