Evelyn Wyrosdick
Evelyn Sheets Wyrosdick, 82, of Pine Mountain died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Wyrosdick, born March 23, 1921, in Heard County, was the daughter of the late Charlie Thomas and Nealie Veal Sheets. She was a homemaker and formerly employed by Callaway Mills. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Mountain.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Faye and George Drake of Smith Station, Ala.; five grandchildren, Chris Buchanan, Letitia Autrey, Kelly Meadows, Lane Buchanan, and Cody Buchanan, all of Franklin; 10 great - grandchildren; four great - great - grandchildren; a brother, Thomas C. Sheets of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Hollaway and Pastor Lynn Janney officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeway United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 9.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mrs. Wyrosdick.

Thomas Person
Thomas Person, 75, of Bronx N.Y., formerly of Troup County, died Saturday in New York.
Mr. Person, born Dec. 4, 1927, in Douglasville, was the son of the late Tom and Odessa Person. He was an active member of Lowly Nazarene Baptist Church in Bronx.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Simpson Person; three sons and daughters - in - law, Eddie and Eloise Person, and Thomas and Milagros Person, all of Bronx, N.Y., and Robert E. and Kermelle Person of Jamaica, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, 10 great - grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Frances Truitt of LaGrange and Core McCauley of Chattanooga, Tenn. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Union Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Alfonzia Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mattie Ward at 100 Royal Court.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.

James Byrd
James Byrd, 95, of Decatur died Thursday at DeKalb Medical Center.
Mr. Byrd, born June 12, 1906 in Troup County, was the son of the late Jude and Margaret Byrd. He was a steel mill worker and a resident of Aliquippa, Pa., for 50 plus years and returned to Georgia in January 1998.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons - in - law, Emma Sue and James Hight of LaGrange;, Margie and Curtis Walker of Corapolis, Pa., and Dorothy Richman of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a son and daughter - in - law, John and Odessa Byrd of Decatur; a brother, Columbus Rutledge of Aliquippa; 22 grandchildren; 28 great - grandchildren; 20 great - great - grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1518 South Davis Road. Brother Marion Fitzpatrick will officiate with burial in the Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at the residence of his daughter and son - in - law, Emma Sue and James Hight at 500 Harwell Ave.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Amos Ogletree
Amos Ogletree Sr., of 501 Union St., died Sunday at Twins Fountains Nursing Home.
Mr. Ogletree, a native of Troup County, was the son of the late Mary Winston and Alex Ogletree. He was a graduate of East Depot High School and an United States Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Ogletree was a custodian at Callaway Auditorium with 35 years of service and a member and deacon of Central Baptist Church.
Survivor include his wife, Lucy Ogletree of LaGrange; seven daughters and four sons - in - law, Louise and Joe Britt of Griffin, Angeline and John Jennings, Carolyn and Harry Rutledge, Pamela and Joseph Jennings, Deborah Hutchinson and Jewell Kimbrough, all of LaGrange, Mary D. and Jerry Dudley of Greenville, S.C.; five sons and a daughter - in - law, Amos Ogletree Jr., of LaGrange, Alvin and Karen Ogletree of Patuxent River, Md., Richard Kimbrough, Patrick Kimbrough and Willie Kimbrough, all of LaGrange; 18 grandchildren, 23 great - grandchildren; two sisters, Dora Winston and Willie Mae Edwards, all of LaGrange; two brothers, Ernest Ogletree of LaGrange and Emerson Ogletree of Atlanta; a godson, Norris L. Garrett; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. J.W. Russell Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill cemetery.
The family will be at their home.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.

Dr. E.P. Willimon Jr.
Dr. Eugene P. (Rusty) Willimon Jr., 61, of 1018 Country Club Drive, died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Dr. Willimon, born May 25, 1940 in Greenville, S.C., was the son of Louise Willimon of Beaufort, S.C., and the late Gene Willimon. Dr. Willimon received his doctoral degree in engineering from Clemson University. He worked for Milliken and Company for 35 years and was currently the general manager of Milliken Floor Covering. Mr. Willimon had lived in LaGrange for 31 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Patricia (Patsy) Godwin Willimon of LaGrange; three daughters and two sons - in - law, Lisa W. and Leon Moody, of LaGrange, Angie W. and Chip Cosper of Jacksonville, Fla., and Cindy Willimon and her fiancee Taylor Serson of Aspen, Colo.; two sons and a daugther - in - law, Richard E. and Laura Willimon of LaGrange and Cliff Willimon of Atlanta and his fiance Kristen Bottenfield of LaGrange; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Willimon, Evelyn Willimon, Richie Willimon, Ashlee Moody, Drew Moody, Logan Moody, and Kendall Cosper; and a sister and brother - in - law, Louise W. and Jim Gibson of Beaufort, S.C.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Porterfield and Dr. Gil Watson officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at their residence, 1018 Country Club Drive, and will be receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to LaGrange Academy Scholarship Fund and First United Methodist Church Building Fund, or a favorite charity.

Brad Holloway
Brad Holloway, 22, of 81 Big Springs Circle, died Saturday at The Medical Center in Columbus.
Mr. Holloway, born June 25, 1979 in LaGrange, was the son of Carol Holloway and Gary Holloway. He was employed by C.B.J. Electrical and had lived in LaGrange all of his life and attended Troup High School.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Holloway of LaGrange; his father and step - mother, Gary and Debbie Holloway of Roopville; a brother and sister - in - law, Eric and Christy Holloway; three nephews, Tyler, Dawson and Jake Holloway; his maternal grandfather, Dawson Humphries; his paternal grandmother, Irma Holloway; three step - brothers, Jackie, Chris, and Joseph Wentz; a step - sister, Kandi Wentz, all of LaGrange; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Meadoway Gardens with the Rev. Joshua Forbus officiating.
The family will be at their home at 81 Big Springs Circle, and will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to The Ronald McDonald House Charities of West Georgia, 1959 Hamilton Road, Columbus, Ga., 31904 in memory of Mr. Holloway.

Dr. Eugene P. 'Rusty' Willimon Jr., of LaGrange, died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.

Dennis L. Stephens
Dennis Lee Stephens Sr., 59, of 3381 Hamilton Road, died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Stephens, born July 19, 1942, in Crisp County, was the son of the late Thomas Edmund and Mildred Juanita Chesnut Stephens. He had lived in LaGrange for 20 years and retired as a pharmacist. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Leslie. He attended West Georgia College and received his bachelors degree in pharmacy from the University of Georgia.
Survivors include his wife, Delores 'Dillie' Stephens of LaGrange; a son and daughter - in - law, Dennis Lee Jr. and Donna Stephens of Clarkston; three daughters and two sons - in - law, Sherri and Gene Lovett of Cordele, Cathy and Brian Villiard and Dana Fincher and fiance' Steve Holloway, all of LaGrange; nine grandchildren, two brothers, Ed Stephens of Cobb and Stan Stephens of Montezuma; two sisters, Dorothy Crooke of Carrollton and Sheryl Arnold of Hawkinsville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Jones.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Meadoway Gardens with the Rev. John R. Moore Jr. officiating.
The family will be at his home.

Richard L. Hammock
Richard Lamar Hammock, 62, of Hogansville, died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Hammock, born January 26, 1939, in Hogansville, was the son of the late Luther E. Hammock and Bernice Hubbard Hammock Lane. He had lived in Carrollton from 1972 until 1985, and Hogansville most his life. He retired as market manager from Big Star, A&P; and Winn Dixie Stores. He was a Baptist and veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Hammock was a member of the Moose Club and VFW.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy Drummond of Atlanta; two sons and a daughter - in - law, Christopher and Amy Hammock of Marietta and Matthew Hammock of Hogansville; a sister, Patricia Fleckman of Hogansville; a brother, Eugene Hammock of Phenix City, Ala., and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lamar Hammock Jr. and a daughter, Elizabeth Janice Hammock.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.

Carolyn J. McGurie
Mrs. Carolyn Joyce McGuire, 58, of Marietta, died Thursday at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Mrs. McGuire, born February 19, 1943 in Bartow County, was the daughter of the late Talmadge Young and Bertha Davis Young. She was the owner and operator of Classic Flea at Kingston Mall for several years and was of the Baptist faith.
Local survivors include Carrie and Frank Jump Jr. of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home in Cartersville with the Rev. J.D. Ray officiating. Burial will be in White Cemetery.
The family will be receive friends tonight from 4 to 9 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
